  1. Corrin is an idiot because of bad writers.

The thing about Corrin in Conquest is the fact that joining Nohr is actually very smart from Corrin.

At first, he joined Nohr because he didn't want to betray his family that he grown up with but without realize it until chapter 14, he killed 2 birds with one stone.

Since Leo makes kim realize that he can change Nohr's way of fighthing by plotting behind Garon's back, he was very happy to be in Nohr.

Until the whole ''Garon is a slime monster'' happened.

This is where I believe that the writers screwed up really hard.

Chapter 14 should of been a turning point for corrin. He realises that he can do things behind garon's back and then should of taken steps to do this. Make the rest of the game about getting support to defeat garon, not invading hoshido over some dumb shit.

Maybe have chapters dedicated to assassinating the most needlessly cruel people in the army. Have soldiers in the army who are against garon ready to rebel when called upon. Would it of been so hard to have a dawn brigade scenario but with the royal siblings? These are all rushed ideas, but I think with enough polishing it would of been a lot better than what we got.

  2. Oh dear..."A failed revolution"? I'm still going to stick to the theory I wrote in the Nintendo Direct thread, but that title makes me afraid that it's their way of trying to justify Conquest, like "See?! This is what would've happened if they stopped being Garon's lap dogs!"

You're scaring me. I hope that isn't the setting.
  3. Male: Leo. An intelligent, pragmatic badass. Enjoyed his role on both routes. Love that he's magic oriented. Localized Leo has a great voice and great dialogue to match. He's become one of my favourite characters in the series, if not my favourite.

Female: Felicia. I enjoyed localized Felicia a lot more than JPN Felicia. The voice is better, she's a bit funnier, has more fight in her and I find her to be very endearing and cute. Sorry Phillius. I used to be an Azura fan, but Felicia waifu is best waifu.

  4. Wasn't it mentioned in the beginning of the game that the royals are way stronger than any common solider. If that's the case then they wouldn't of had that hard of a time against the royal army. In addition I think it's also stated that xander is the strongest solider in nohr, so corrin would of had some strong allies to attack garon with and it isn't as implausible as many people think. Granted they would of needed to convince xander which wouldn't be hard to do if they characterised him better.

  5. Let's take a look at Ike's odds. On his side he has a small remnant of his side's forces and a goddess who's only powers are to protect them from instantly turning to stone and to empower their weapons. They face a large group of the goddess favored Begnion army, the Black Knight, Sephiran, an ARMY OF DRAGONS and then the goddess herself who can turn the population of a continent to stone simply by sneezing. RD endgame is you pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and punching God in the face. Ike has a sword that levels up and some birds that can sing.

I could talk about all the other games where you kick ass despite all odds but that would be a long list.

Wow. Ike had way shittier odds than I originally thought, my bad. Then I guess corrin's main problem would be getting support for his cause. Which he didn't... attempt...OK I concede, I can't defend corrin after that realalisation. That guy made some bad plays during conquest.

  6. You and I have two very different opinions on what realism would be in a situation like this. First of all, going back to Nohr after your daddy sent you on a suicide mission with a psychopath to help invade an innocent nation is stupid in the first place, but since people will start talking about bonds vs blood and debate morality, let's at the very least agree that Corrin should've bloody talked to his bloody siblings rather than going on a murderous rampage; that's not a quick, easy solution, that's the furthest thing from what any sane person would do in this situation.

Also, like NekoKnight said, the attitude towards just giving up and not even confronting Garon makes zero sense in a Fire Emblem setting, since by that logic it would've made more sense for Ike to give up when the whole world was turned to stone. If you put heroes in a situation like this with the explanation "nah but they can't do anything about it" (which is simply not true in the first place), at least show the protagonist trying to do something, anything at all, instead of giving up immediately. Oh, and have the balls to have the narrative portray it like it is, rather than twisting it to make Corrin look like he is doing the right thing.

I do feel agree that corrin made a really idiotic move by not talking to his siblings, however with the invasion idea I say it's mostly the way the setting's been built that makes it seem like their only viable option was to invade.

Corrin is constantly reminded that defying garon equals death, which severely hampers what he can do. Garon's word is law, so whatever corrin disagrees with means nothing at all. The rebelling forces just seem like a minor inconvenience to garon and you actively take part in destroying the one with the most strength. Because of all these things I can't blame corrin for doing what he did cause the story has put too many restrictions on him to make other options not viable at all.

In regards to the fighting against unfavourable odds point I do feel that the story should of taken this route. However it would of taken a lot of work to make it not seem like an asspull. Ike and chrom had deities on their side and weren't nearly as restricted as corrin was. Corrin has a friend who can sing and a sword that levels up.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Conquest should of had a bitter ending if it was going to go down the 'main protag can't do crap' route. After what happens there is no reason for corrin to be smiling.

I swear every time I give my opinions on the conquest story the more I get annoyed by it.

  7. That's besides the point considering that we are real people and not characters in a story. And putting characters into difficult situations and having them deal with that is what drama is all about.

Hmmm.I see where you're coming from. Characters acting realistically in some situations may not be the best for the narrative. Especially in this case with a self insert that may not reflect the desires of a player.

  8. Characters are an incredibly important part, but it's by no means everything. On top of that, I can't say I enjoy Conquest's cast in their very own path because they act so stupidly; how am I supposed to get invested in a bunch of protagonists too afraid to the right thing and get bossed around while clenching their fists inside their pockets, only to get enough motivation to put their foot down once they've already gone too far - and even then they only act because of a terrible excuse.

Why are the protagonists criticized for acting realistically, but takumi is praised for acting realistically. I think they call this double standards. I'm pretty sure if acting out against someone ,with more authority than you, put your life at risk then you would be scared to do so and if you were strongly against what they were doing then you would do things that weren't obvious to mitigate it's effects.

  9. @Tsuky

"Like, what did he even try to do behind Garon's back other than sparing a few people here and there? No secretly rallying anti-Garon forces, no sneak attacks on Garon, no nothing. So how exactly are they desperate? You can't fail at something if you haven't attempted it."

Honestly I don't know if all those are viable options, they're definitely nice sounding and better than the alternative. However, I feel that any rebellion force would of been crushed by the nohrian army regardless. I would imagine that there are more people willing to support garon than go against him,so any effort to try and rally forces would be futile.

They're not desperate to kill garon, they're desperate to change nohr and end the war. That's the whole reason they joined them in the first place.

They tried to do things on the side and it failed, so they go tackle the root of the problem. Garon has proven to be intolerant of disobedience and punishes it with death. It would make sense that this would factor into their next plan. They can't do anything too obvious as they would be killed instantly and would of achieved nothing, hoshido would truly be screwed.

"Also, it's a miracle that he can live down the guilt of playing an active role in invading another country and causing the suffering of so many innocents and the deaths of the Hoshidan brothers and their retainers (well, I suppose Azura did too, since she grew up with them. But meh, she died, so I guess no one will go after her). If I were in Corrin's shoes, I would've rather tried to tell my siblings about Valla and disappearing than agreeing to invading a country, even one without my siblings in it; I would never be able to live with that decision."

I agree with you here. I don't know why corrin is smiling at what happened. I know I would be extremely depressed.

"So no matter how you try to spin it, their decision was a terrible one. And the Hoshidan siblings just magically forgave him at the end."

The idea sucks, but with their not being a strong presence from rebelling forces during the story I feel that there weren't a lot of options. Rebelling forces against garon is the best idea, however IS failed to make them seem like any type of threat to garon. Conquest should of had a bitter ending tbh idk why it's happy at all.

  10. I do agree that the story took a dumb turn that it shouldn't have, but I don't think the actions that the characters took are understandable because of their personality traits and what has happened already.

Azura should of showed everyone the truth, but I'm pretty sure she's shown to be a very closed off person. With this in mind I think that it would of been very hard to reveal the truth to her siblings because she doesn't trust them/ isn't comfortable enough with them. In addition, even if she did show them the truth I doubt they would believe her because what she is suggesting is ridiculous in itself. She would of been branded a traitor, lost the trust of her siblings and would of been in a worst position to achieve peace.

The only person in the story who she has a chance of convincing is corrin.

Now corrin is a different problem. They really should of been more skeptical, thought about a different way to convince their siblings and not have been so willing to invade hoshido. The only reason that I can see them being willing to invade hoshido is because they're desperate at this point which actually makes sense.

At this point in the story corrin has tried to do things their way many times only to be stopped by the ruthless actions of garon. They realise that they are less powerful than they originally thought and that doing things their way is pointless because garon can reverse everything easily. Azura offers them an alternative way to achieve peace that seems to have a higher chance of succeeding. Like I said previously, corrin is desperate at this point so any way that is able to remove garon seems appealing to them, which is why they essentially sacrifice hoshido to do it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the whole invasion idea and the lead up to it is dumb, but I'm willing to forgive it because I'm able to understand why azura and corrin ,after what they have been through, think it's a good idea.
