  1. Meh, I have an aversion to anything that looks suspicious. I'll probably just ask either the SWAT team or the military and get the heck out myself. Leave dangerous situations to the pros. Of course, it's a different story if the horror was actively finding me in the first place. :P
  2. It's great to hear someone else appreciating the originality of this particular game. Indeed, there is a reason for a good number of positive reviews from the industry professionals. If you haven't played Persona before, do yourself a favor and get a PS Vita and Persona 4 Golden (I've just wrote a review about it, see signature link below.), because that also has an idol character, and is just only somewhat darker than TMSFE, and both feature slice-of-life high school student life, and the mirages/performas in TMS are like the summoned personas in the Persona games. I probably wouldn't go straight into SMT proper (which Persona was formerly a branching franchise of), because of just how much darker it is compared to TMS. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of anything other than Akaneia or Ylisse - they should have included Jugdral and Tellius characters, considering the good reputation of those regions' stories. (Of course, this is assuming that people play SMT/Persona for the stories.) Atlus should port this to the Switch/3DS and make this as an introductory entry to Persona - because this was what introduced me to Persona 4, which in turn allowed me to start playing Persona 3, and aroused my interest in other Atlus games.
  3. Lugh shoots fireballs at Narcian's goons while Milady had an idea pop in her head. Cue the creation of the first jet fighter prototype. And Milady's becomes the Red Baroness. Ash and Serena (both from Pokemon), only this time being in real-life Paris. Yeah, I know, I'm an amourshipper.
  4. They get captured by the Lycian-Etrurian Army for a possible terrorist attack against Elibe and sent to exile. Naoto from Persona 4 and Thomas Mutton from Catherine, the Stray Sheep Bar in (what I think is) San Diego, Los Angeles, or San Francisco.
  5. It's a shame that the numerous positive reviews didn't translate to sales, not to mention the game being on the console with the worst library of games. I for one really do not like J-Pop at all, and yet I actually love the songs in TMS#FE (I don't think the majority of the soundtrack from Persona proper really counts to be honest; they sound more like American music.) - to the point that I actually ordered a new copy of the CD soundtrack straight from my hometown. I also got into Persona 4 Golden, currently playing Persona 3 Portable, and have a raised interest with Atlus games in general because of this particular game. It's one thing to try and not like it; it's another to not even bother; if people actually give that a try, they might be surprised.
  6. As the title says above, who here reads/trust reviews from critics/reviewers before deciding to purchase a game? It can be anyone - professionals from say IGN or Kotaku, to reviewers from their Youtube channels, or even from forum members' reviews. And what were the ones that were good or otherwise? While I am not going to elaborate too much (as it is 3am local time), SuperButterBuns from Youtube was definitely one factor that prompted me to make the purchases for Persona 3 (Portable) and 4 (the other factor being playing a bit of Tokyo Mirage Sessions and loving that, no less) and her review of Catherine also solidified my decision to get Catherine: Full Body next year, and maybe FF12 some time after. While I generally get opinions from others as well, I say she's very entertaining, and goes in-depth in the reasons for recommendations.
  7. Talking about life, love, world peace, and the role of science and magic in such a utopia. Rise (Persona 4) and Itsuki (Tokyo Mirage Sessions) - in any J-Pop-friendly concert hall (For example: LMB Festival from P4 Dancing All Night)
  8. California would be really nice - with its colder/more temperate climate of San Francisco to the warmer and more arid regions of Los Angeles and Death Valley allowing for a relatively wide range of biomes. Tie that with the Orre remakes and expand the backstory of Orre in parts. In fact, when I was younger, I actually expected, and wanted either this or Alola to be the Gen 3 region instead of Hoenn. Another candidate would be Italy - now finally, we get to learn about one of the greatest ancient civilization of the Poke-Earth. Besides that, as with California, you get a variety of climates from the colder Italian/Etrurian? Alps to the warmer island of Sicily. And maybe reveal the permanent home of Latias and Latios (Pokemon Heroes, anyone?).
  9. He has obtained the facade used to overcome life's hardships, the Sexy Yandere Succubus! hahaha
  10. As a clarinet player in a Concert Band, I consider Tokyo Kosei to be the best in concert band arrangements:
  11. It's not just the story that was problematic; there was very little in the way of world-building unlike Tellius, Jugdral, FE6!Elibe, or even Magvel.
  12. Fire Emblem x Pokemon: What would a medieval war with Pokemon as soldiers would look like? Alternately, what would a Fire Emblem story be like in a present-day Pokemon setting?
  13. On a different note, I've noticed that the JRPGs from Atlus have only English-language localisations, and I've also seen cases of Japanese games in general that doesn't even see a release in Europe. I can kind of understand German/Italian translations missing out (scale of economy, I guess), and I've also found out that even French/Spanish needs different localizations between the two sides of the Atlantic. On the other hand: I wonder what would be the issue of doing localization for, say Quebec and South America respectively, and making adjustments for localizations in Metropolitan!France/Belgium/Switzerland and Mainland!Spain/Andorra (also respectively)? Say, for example, as a Canadian/Mexican, would you prefer to play an English localization (or even the Japanese original) of a JRPG (or any story-heavy game) or a Metropolitan!French/Mainland!Spanish one? (Reverse the question for European gamers.) Are there JRPG games that are localized differently between American English and British English? I'm talking about solely conversation texts - The only example that I know would be Super Mario RPG where they changed a single word. ("bugger" to "pest") More generally speaking, are game companies in general encouraged to include the full set of five languages (EFGIS)?
  14. Updated: The seventh VA option for Catherine is Haruka Tomatsu, as the "tsundere girl". Kind of surprising considering Haru from P5 (Tomatsu's other VA character) is anything but a tsundere. At least I can imagine Chie or Yukiko actually speaking their VA's lines in their preview clips. I wonder who is next; Mitsuru (P3), Nanako (P4), or Naoto (P4) even?
  15. Playing Persona 3, and just defeated the first Full Moon boss. A berserk shadow rigging a runaway monorail with an actual time limit?! Holy shit... On a P4-related note, I just came across a Japanese Newsweek article discussing the high reliance of mass media in Japanese society. I was only able to find it in Japanese (here), but part of the information can be found in the World Value Survey website which the article referenced from. (http://www.worldvaluessurvey.org/WVSOnline.jsp, and for the survey questions they are Confidence: Television and Confidence: the Press.) It talks about how Japanese people in general have higher confidence in television and newspapers a lot more than other first world countries in general. (It is nearly 70% for television, 80% for newspapers. For reference, the respective numbers are both 60+% for Korea, approx 45% and 50% in Germany and around 20-30% for USA and Australia.) While this seems like good news to the broadcast stations and the press, it raises questions about whether Japanese society in general is over-reliant on media - considering critical thinking is not their biggest strength. Admittedly, they are all 2010-14 numbers, but I doubt they change all that much back in 2005-2009. Looks like the blindly trusting the media was a problem that Japanese society needed to learn from the morals of Persona 4 (and probably still is). Atlus, you truth-revealing son of a gun...
  16. Updated: The sixth VA option for Catherine Succubus is Kana Asumi. Apparently, she was a VA for one of the characters in Persona 3: Trinity Soul anime series, and she was also the Japanese VA for Lissa from Awakening. I wonder if there would be a localised DLC with Amanda Winn-Lee and others...
  17. Is everyone here secretly wants to play the game but are just secretly afraid to admit themselves lol? *Shadow Henrymidfields appears, with a a demonic voice* "I AM A SHADOW, THY TRUE SELF. I KNOW THOU ART ALL ENTHUSIASTIC FOLKS WHO WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME... ADMIT IT, FOR I AM THOU, AND THOU ART I..."
  18. @Slumber: Apparently, it's been quite well known as a tournament game in the US - due to the puzzle and time-trial gameplay. I think it's one of Atlus's few competitive-compatible titles where there is a 2P mode. Mind asking what repels you?
  19. I have heard about the original Catherine game several years ago when it first came out. But it was only recently when Catherine started arousing my interests (so many puns intended), thanks to SuperButterBuns. However, the notorious difficulty being rumored by the commentators scared me away from the game. That is, until we started getting updates about Catherine: Full Body. Over in the Japanese website and others, information about the games have been coming in, with a new and friendlier difficulty setting, a new character called Rin, and even a planned DLC of sets of voices from 10 different VAs that I could assign to Catherine (the succubus), other than Miyuki Sawashiro (of Awakening-Female!Robin/Morgan fame). Yukiko (Persona 4) being my waifu, I was estatic to see her VA being cast as one of the options. (Other VAs include Chie (P4), Fuuka (P3), and Futaba (P5) so far. Great, now my Shadow Yu can romance Shadow Yukiko. American, European, and Oceanian release dates are undecided as of yet, while the Japanese release is on Valentines Day next year, for PS4 and PS Vita. So who is looking forward to this one?
  20. Odoru ahou ni miru ahou you!!! HEY DANCING TONIGHT!!!!

  21. Zefiel for having an unenviable childhood and being nearly killed once. Are you going to get 13 Sentinels, Catherine: Full Body, and/or Persona Q2 upon release?
