  1. I'm not too sure about a crossover per se, but I have something related I'd like to see. What I've fantasized about was a fanfic of the following: a Fire Emblem Binding Blade story set in the modern-day Pokemon setting, and also cross over with real-life World War 2, with politics and battles similar to said part of history. The nations of Elibe and Kalos are featured in the main war theatre, but Columbia (Unova) and Shoyo (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Shinnoh) also participate in diplomacy and trade. And while the characters from Binding Blade plays centre stage, other characters also join in as cameos. (Unova would definitely see a Fates!Arthur. Meanwhile the stars from Tokyo/Yamabuki Mirage Sessions are the superstar idols of Shoyo.)
  2. I'm not talking about FE Fates with its three branches of fairly happy endings; nor I'm talking about half-baked attempts like in Binding Blade or Mystery of the Emblem, with only a couple of lines in the epilogue. I'm talking about full bad endings scenes from wrong decisions done in, say, Persona. Playing Persona 4 for the first time, what I liked about the entry was how the threat to screw up the otherwise lighthearted story was there. I wonder what it would have been like if politics-heavy titles like the Tellius/Jugdral games had bad or premature ends where: the campaign/strategy fails, the player character's army surrenders, and the enemy's empire expands, or otherwise show more details in the outcomes, instead of just a simple game over screen. Or where some specific units from earlier chapters are dead, and now you cannot use them as pawns for diplomacy. It's a fight to the death against the enemy's empire. You win, but at a huge cost to your own country with ravaged cities, and with a bitter, resentful protectorate that may revolt and retaliate sometime in the future. In a better ending, both you and the enemy come forth to discuss, and more people return home safely, and people are more willing to work with, and not against.
  3. I, on the other hand, just tackled my first run of Persona 4 Golden, and around the midpoint for the second run. I've also finished Dancing All Night's story mode; nice to see how everyone moved on to help others, as well as explore the seedier aspects of the Japanese idol industry. After my second run, I might put that a break and play Persona 3 Portable, and P4 Arena games. On the other hand, I might get rid of my existing FE/Pokemon backlog from my last backlog thread altogether.
  4. On a different note, have anyone played the action RPGs from Vanillaware? How much of the games do they retain the RPGs aspects? I'm thinking about getting Odin Sphere and later 13 Sentinels for my PS Vita.
  5. Just saying, I'm doing my second run of P4G (I'm just before rescuing Naoto), and I am loving dating Chie. (Max SL + romantic path) Also, I need to update my avatar to reflect my current run.

  6. Oh, that. Well, I'm not changing my previous answer, because don't follow soccer either.
  7. It's all right, I guess. But I prefer bacon. Do you tend to buy games secondhand or do you buy them new? Full price or discount? Any exceptions?
  8. I wonder if the story's essentially another fanservice one like PQ was, or whether is an actual continuation of P5's story. Actually, P5 proper should have had a mini-all-stars cast; it was jarring to know that despite the more widespread publicity in-universe of P5's social issues and villain's plot and higher level of threat in compared to P3 and P4, there were zero appearances of the past Persona characters in general, and Naoto in particular. Surely she would have known, and would have something to say against the corrupt police force in general and against Akechi in particular, considering her detective work is all over Japan, she struggled with the politics all throughout P4G, and at least one case had the police force play politics against her in P4U specifically for their corrupt purpose.
  9. I haven't been following baseball at all, so I've got no idea. Your preferred English localization approach of Japanese games?
  10. Don't know, don't care. What was your favorite story in the games you played?
  11. Another thing that works well with butter is ramen noodles. I don't know whether it's the oiliness or the added salt, but the noodle becomes tastier, for sure. PS For a first glance, I thought this was about Super Butter Buns. Either way, she helped me butter my Persona 4 Golden bread.
  12. Thanks for the feedback. I guess it will be a wait and see for me while playing my other Atlus games in the backlogs then.
  13. Does anyone know how much Atlus give the amount of effort/consideration to EO's plot/story? (Like, comparing with, say Persona, Devil Survivor, Radiant Historia, or Catherine?)
  14. My surrounding doesn't really matter either. The only thing would be if i am busy out and about, which means that I'll have to stick to a PS Vita game.
  15. Don't really know them, so I'll just go through the works themselves: the Persona 4 cutscenes by A-1 Pictures, Pokemon XY anime, and Tokyo Mirage session cutscenes. Do you tend to buy games secondhand or do you buy them new? Full price or discount? Any exceptions?
  16. I almost always buy them secondhand from EBay, with reduced prices. Especially if it is a game that Nintendo's going to do well anyway like Zelda or Pokemon or any FE games past Awakening. And I usually buy them as I finish previous games. Atlus games are probably going to be the exception where I'll get a new copy when I can without breaking my bank. Their copies are harder to find, and I specifically would like to support them as they make an effort to write good stories. I've specifically bought new copies of Persona 4 Golden and Dancing All Night for that reason. I had a friend who gave me her copy of Tokyo Mirage Sessions, but I might actually get a new copy to support it too.
  17. It depends on whether you enjoyed past games and stories with the surprise or you enjoyed them regardless of the spoilers. If it's the latter, then by all means, jump in with a guide. I've already known about the story of P4 by the time I got around to playing it, and I even used a guide for the social links and to get the ending, and I nevertheless very much enjoyed every bit of the characters. I actually disagree with that the spoilers are bad for enjoying the story as I enjoyed focusing on how everything in the story fell into place in the end. For the record, I'm intending to play P3P and P5 with guides for the social links and for the true ending. I'd leave maxing out the social links to New Game Plus, though, when you don't have to worry about raising your PC's attributes (Diligence/Courage/Understanding etc).
  18. I think Roy's simply shouldn't be in a pure-numbers game like the GBA ones, but a skill based one like FE Fates. Character/story-wise, Roy's meant to be a more realistic depiction of a military leader who utilises charisma, strategy and etc. Bring Robin's rally skills and some additional support conversation, and allow a higher limit of support-making, and allow EXP gains when he does a support conversation, or activate a skill in addition to usual means. As for his promotion, either just detach his levels from his promotion like one of the Jugdral games did, or make his levels 30/10.
  19. I've got a few. Roy, for being one of the few Lords so far to actually lead by good strategy like many famous historical generals did. Caeda, for being one of the first fighting princess in Nintendo's history. Arthur as his butt monkey status is genuinely funny unlike Luigi the sissy pizza-eating surrender monkey plumber and is also most fitting of the persona/mascort of America, especially in my dead Fates Conquest LP with a WWII twist. Your unpopular opinion in regards to games in general?
  20. ...Looks like my opinion wasn't THAT unpopular after all... :P On a more serious note, I've been reading one of the books from Oxford Univ Press's Very Short Introduction series, aptly titled Military Strategy. In one passage, the major reason why the Japanese lost in World War 2 was due to how much more difficult replacing downed fighter planes and pilots compared to American ones, due to both lack of population and resources. Maybe we could have a end-of-an-era story where a former empire was long the center of magic learning, and how its magicians were the best in the world. The empire however, became complacent while the smaller nations sought ways to overcome their strategic disadvantage. The art of magic eventually collapses as it and conventional weapons gradually became antiquated forms of warfare. While the empire had the initial advantage due to their strong military and magic tradition and training, she finds herself unable to overcome the mass swathes of rapidly produced and trained rifle soldiers overwhelming her elite sages. The empire falls, and a new federation becomes the superpower. Amidst this, there are also sub-stories from individual characters vary in their responses to the technological changes. Some characters embrace the change, while others actively resist, and some others stay in denial, all which are discussed in support conversations.
  21. Yes and No. She's not my favorite per se, but she's currently my favorite shipping candidate for Yu/Souji. Write out one headcanon for any JRPG you played.
