  1. I kinda go with the dry run strategy, depending on what game I play. But that's mostly with new maps, or using a completely off-the-wall team. If it's a game that has multiple difficulties, I usually try to get an understanding of the map, and what strategic options work best for my team or my overall playstyle.

    Trial and error on a lower difficulty can save save you time and grant you ideas on how to approach a wide variety of obstacles in harder difficulties. In other words, working your way up to the difficulty (and studying what's given to you) is the way to approach a difficult challenge without being surprised by vast changes between stat inflations. In my opinion.

    But that's just me. If there's anything wrong with how I addressed this question, please let me know.

  2. Radiant Dawn for me was when the series reached its highest point. Besides the lack of balance,support conversations and the quantity of units that game was amazing,good quantity of objecitives,multiple choices(only one,but it was well introduced),amazing chapter design(like 2-E,1-E,2-3,3-8 4-5,4-3 Endgame-2),cool design for everyone(except Meg,Nealuchi,Kysa and Brom). If there is a new FE coming I would like seeing it similar to RD

    Honestly, if you think that the series is at a new low, I'm there with you, as far as fan service and story/characters go. However, the gameplay in Fates Conquest is probably some of the most engaging it's been in years, even topping FE 10, in my opinion. If you want to steer clear of the game because of the stories/characters/fan service, that is completely fine. That's up to you. But I highly recommend playing through Fates Conquest at least once (skipping the story and dialogue if you want) just to experience the great map design and dynamic Ideas introduced/brought back. There are a few characters that I quite like as well, so it's not the worst that the series has to offer. Also the art has made a significant improvement from awakening. A fitting style for the game, I'd say.

  3. This might be off topic, but one thing I like about the newer mariage system (probably the only think I like) is that you can marry two specific units without interference or feel stressed to plan your pairings.

    For example, In FE 13, if I wanted Gaius and Cordelia to go together, I'd pair them up or have them interact with one another in battle, and then use their supports to progress the relationship at a pace that is comfortable. In FE 4, however, Turn by turn, a man [A] and a woman [A] that I don't want to marry are gaining love points, as I furiously have another partner, man beside the woman at all times. Guess what? Surprise! Man A and woman A are married! Man B (who I wanted to marry with Woman A) is alone and chapter 5 comes along.

    See the issue here? It's like trying to make chocolate cake for a party, and someone else brings Bannana creme pie, ruining your hard work. And worst of all, not getting results you try to obtain. I get that not every strategy in FE 4 will work out perfectly, but having set love points be the determinant of what your pairings are 80% of the time is unfair to the player's options.

    Being able to accurately progress what pairings you want and not have something like set points screwing your plans over is probably the only improved part of the parent/child system. The rest is more modernized or put in there as fan-service outlets.

    This is all my opinion.

  4. Setting limits for yourself is fun, when you know that you aren't stepping outside your own capabilities. But when you set limits that are extremely high for your "usual" play-style, when you fail, it can drain any excitement from you in a heartbeat. I like higher difficulty, but I know my limits - I don't want to torture myself. There's a difference between challenging difficulty and limits/difficulty that pushes you to insanity. Even more-so when you yourself are the one who placed these rules. It hurts more when you fail, because you haven't tested your limits. For example, I cannot complete FE 5 without a beginner's guide.

    (FE 6 Hard mode Prepromotes & Roy only, no resets, get everything).

  5. I love chapter 3.

    Every chapter in Gen 2 makes me feel like I suck at Fire Emblem, which I probably do. I haven't played the final chapter yet, but chapter 10 makes me feel like I've done everything wrong - even when I have Arthur with the forsetti. Seriousy - I don't want to solo the game with Forseti, and this chapter is making me consider it. Chapter 7 is annoying, but at least that chapter gives you good powerful units. Chapter 10 just... That guy with a brave sword. Don't get me started on him or Julius/Istar. The Latter being pure Bull Shit.

  6. I used him as a mage once, and he actually became a decent power mage. Then I Promoted him, and reclassed him to a swordmaster. Best Levin Sword User ever.

    I like the guy, and his usability as a mage should not be overshadowed by merric. Because eventually, Wrys too, can use the Excalibur in Shadow dragon/Heroes

    (I gave him 1 speedwing, 1 Seraph robe, 1 energy drop, and 1 Bottle of Cocaine/Spirit dust. No shame.)

  7. I'd like to be either an archer or a dark mage. (I want dark/elder magic in it's rightful position dammit!) I find the idea of darkness fascinating, and I've got a soft spot for archery because I used to practice in it when I was a child.

    I'd go for Dark mage/Shaman.

    Affinity: Dark, because Crit and Crit avoid are fantastic. Maybe Ice to boost my accuracy rating.

    My reasoning for this is mostly because it shows the importance of the people in the country, rather than the monarch that rules them. This quote came to me as I was trying to analyze a poem by Queen Elizabeth I, "On Monsieur's Departure, 1582". She talks about how she is in love, and how she must choose between her duties as a ruler and someone she cares for. She would serve her people and take that responsibility rather than pursue her love, and live in modest sorrow. This almost confirmed that this quote has much truth and merrit to it. The people of your country are invaluable - learn to serve them as they must do to you. I believe that this quote has worth even in today's world.

  9. I don't want to sound condescending but I think just throwing Tiki at him is the best option.

    I see your point, and I agree that it is the best option. I just think that forging a tome gets the job done faster, if I just want to get it over with. Because that's what it felt like with Merciless mode. I just... stopped caring for the last 3 chapters.

  10. To be honest, I've never touched him, but then, I rarely get that far in Binding Blade when I play it. He certainly has a cool palette, though, so I'd be interested in giving him a shot sometime.

    If you do give him a shot, I recommend supporting him with Lilina, or Lalum. The latter is more engaging(for character development purposes), and the former helps with a few of garret's Setbacks, like Hit and Avoid.

    Used him once, quick bench. Gonna use him again in my prepromotes run.

    Cool. Although, when I realized he had no supports with any of the pre-promotes, I felt like he was the worst one...

  12. +4 Might +12 crit Thoron costs 21.000 Gold and a +9 Might +15 crit Blizzard only marginally less at 20.700 Gold.

    Why not just make a light +3 Might Wyrmslayer forge (3.600 Gold), warp SM!Caeda (or anyone else who hits 30 Spd as SM) to ORKO the Manakete and warp->Aum->warp with Tiki for the Medeus kill? Caeda might need a Seraph Robe or two but they cost 1.250 Gold post Silvercard. One could also purchase a few Secret books for Tiki to improve the 40ish% total success chance but that's optional.

    As for advice: You get 21 Warp staff uses total (28 with Gaidens) so use it whenever you see fit but make sure to not break any Warp staffs since you get a Hammerne in C20. Forge mainly effective weaponry (Wingspear, Rapier, Ridersbane etc.) since the forge effects are tripled.

    Because forging a blizard or Thoron tome can kill medius in one hit, and requires less RNG (unless tiki is trained).

    And a lot of money to me is around 20000 because I want to save it all and forge grand weapons. Derp.

  13. I started using him recently, and I've grown to like him quite a bit. But am I the only person who cares about him? I understand he may not be the best axe user in the game - far from it, in fact. However, I feel he can still play a role in Roy's army, whether it be as a support character or a front-line HP tank.

    I happen to like his character, too. He's hard working, at the very least, and that is an admirable trait for just about anyone.

    Which leads me to the question: How often do you use Garret when playing FE 6, if at all? Why?

    And there's like 1 fan art of him, period. Nothing badass either. :(

  14. In terms of fair difficulty, which is what I rate, 14!LunaNohr wins it. Some of the hardest fire emblem battles ever. 10, 12, 20 and 25 are probably imo the hardest FE chapters ever due to their ingenious map design and painful groups of mobs.

    In terms of unfair difficulty, FE13!Luna+ wins. This is a game that's almost unwinnable without hyper low-manning and/or grinding.

    In terms of very unfriendly difficulty, Thracia wins. Doing Thracia blind is a chore. But unlike FE14 or FE13, if you do it again and remember the tricks... It's way less harder.

    I just feel like Thracia is punishing hard the first playthrough, but if you play multiple times the same game, Nohr!Luna is probably the hardest out of all Fire Emblems, simply because it uses all the creativity the developers had.

    Exactly my thoughts. Except... what about FE 12? That game had me shivering. (BTW thracia was my pick)

  15. lmao that chapter completely screwed up My Seth Solo and I had to turtle like a mofo. I'm still stuck on The final boss because Seth can't handle that many enemies without getting completely raped. Sigurd doesn't even need to worry about that because Tyrfing is all he needs to make quick work out of Reptor's Squad.

    This guy gets it. Wait, is it better to train Seth's S rank to lances or swords? I'm thinking swords because his resistance isn't as well developed as his other stats, and the Auldulma (however you spell it) gives you +5 resistance.

    Seth is good, and I've tried soloing the game with seth. Then chapter 18 happened. Where if one thing went wrong, and we're talking shaky Stone RNG, then it's restart emblem, the chapter. Which makes soloing the game with seth much more difficult than one would think. (I still need help on that, tbh)

    Sigurd... doesn't need to bank on a ton of crazy RNG, (Aside from Eldigan) nor does he need to dart around the map picking off stragglers for an easy access for the lord to seize the chapter. Sigurd IS the lord, and due to canto, he can seize and kill bosses on the same turn. His Silver sword, steel sword, and Ayra's brave sword are enough for him to make it through the first generation, considering there are enough kills to go around. And considering that FE 4's number of enemies is enough to get 100 kills on 3 different weapons (assuming that you killed EVERYTHING with Sigs), there's plenty of fresh game to hunt.

Obviously Sigurd for reasons have already been said but i would like to give a shout-out to Marth from FE 1 seeing as how the enemies in that game are ridiculously weak and over half of them die in one-round thanks to the rapier which is ...... On top of that Marth get's the Falchion which makes him invunerable to any enemy that isn't a manakete, which speaks for itself.

    True. FE 1 Marth is pretty good.

    Anyone who has soloed the first generation of FE 4 can tell who the best lord is, in terms of gameplay. Ike may be incredibly strong, but I don't think it is fair to... say, uh... Put all the lords in an arena, and see who would win. Deciding the better character from different games is mostly based on what game they come from, how the game's mechanics favor that character or the resources available to said character. And in that case, Sigurd is still the MVP of the series.

  18. Gameplay: FE 9

    Personality: FE 8

    Now, FE 9's cast does have great supports and persoanlity, but I think the characters that you are able to use in that game, can be used with little effort, allowing a slightly balanced Gameplay experience(compared to other fe titles). No final team is wrong. (FE 7 is 2nd for me) It's easy, yes, but that's part of what allows for all the characters to be used without much effort.

    FE 8 was my choice for personality. The characters (apart from a select few called twincest) feel like they have true connections with the world around them, and almost no-one has the usual trope. If there is a trope character, like Amelia or Neimi, then there are still differences between their support conversations across the board to make everyone feel natural. Even some of the characters have some importance in the main story, like Duessel, Innes, or Joshua. FE 7 has a great cast, sporting many lovable characters, but I think Sacred stones gave us a side cast that helps the world and those in the world develop.

    (Again, FE 7 is second for me)

  19. I reccomend saving at least one warp staff use and one use of a thoron tome for the final map. Why? If you forge thoron to have 17-20 might, and 20+ crit, with a mage who's magic is 21-capped, let's say that... Medius won't like electricity.

    Keep in mind though, this costs a ton of money. You can also do this with a blizzard tome, but you will need to get the forged might to 16, which is the max might for blizzard. Same crit, 20+, and don't bother with hit or weight in this game.

    My final tip, is to forge an Iron Sword for 7400 gold. In SD's standards, this is cheap. Forge it to have 11 might, and 15 crit. It will help in those situations where you need just enough damage to do chip or finish off a boss. It's not the best, but it works.

  20. I came up with my own type of run, but I don't think it qualifies as a challenge unless you play on specific difficulties for every fire emblem game (excluding the kaga games).

    As for a "new" challenge run, I don't think that's possible, as for every challenge you can think of, some FE player, somewhere in the world has done it. Anyway, My suggestion for the topic would be.... Single Range Run. Or a more creative name, "One Range Mastery". In other words, only use weapons and staves that have 1 range. This includes no mages without staves. Maybe FE 6 Idun will be tough this way)
