  1. Again it was literally just a thought experiment of a hypothetical build on the easier Fates game. It's totally doable and doesn't really affect your playthrough very heavily. Exploring an avenue of possibility in the odd chance someone wanted to give Subaki some spotlight.
  2. Literally I said it's still a solid chance even before 20/20 and SPECIFCIALLY said it's probably not worth the effort and wouldn't even be something I'd do personally. It's just neat and an interesting defensive niche that Subaki has with easy access to Samurai and a high skill growth. If you want ACTUAL Astra usage that's amazing, we literally just have Ryoma who absolutely uses it to an amazing degree. Lacking it would definitely hurt his potential bulk given how unreliable dodge tanking is. Fates does use an altered 2RN formula above 50%, which does take away a slight bias from the standard 2RN system, although it's still higher than the raw rate. but the lengths at which you're saying they miss is absolutely untrue. And again, if you weren't hitting with the Weap Eff weapons, you weren't hitting with regular weapons, so you might as well take the extra payoff. I will mention that they're only available in the easier routes, BR and Rev, where they are less useful by that merit alone. Attack Stance can be useful but it can be awkward to use occasionally, especially if you actually want to obtain any 2nd gens, although in a scenario where no support growth is really desired, it definitely functions better. I'll admit I do forget it exists sometimes but usually that's because the offensive and defensive stats from guard stance really comes in clutch sometimes, along with guard to block enemy attack stance. Honestly Sol is probably the third or fourth best activation after DFang (which is mostly just good for availability on Corn and general activation rate) and MAYBE Rend Heaven (although that one is harder to place high due to its awkward class availability). But Astra just functions so well with the guard meter alongside being a really good offensive tool in a game where Counter doesn't exist and it doesn't cost weapon durability. Sol is still solid and worth having on if you DO have it, you lose nothing from equipping it, but it usually won't heal enough to be worthwhile, while Astra proccing in Guard Stance negates an entire enemy attack (which the halved might actually helps with since it can let you get off more than 1 attack on a weaker enemy and gain multiple guage points), albeit with half the activation rate. But I mean either way neither are actually reliable in any way and are mostly just helpful after the fact as far as strategy goes. Yeah, pretty much, compared to them Subaki actively does suck ass, absolutely no disagreement. Doesn't mean he can't be useful in some regard. That said you do get multiple Guard Naginatas in BR (up to 3), and theres like 0 reason to forge them since, so if you do use more than 1 of the 3 it's really not a big deal. Plus with the way BR is it's not too hard to swap weapons around between units when necessary, for stuff like the Dual Naginata it's pretty much necessary until you get that second one (and you might have more than 2 lance users anyways).
  3. Maybe it's just my experience but pretty much, like, every unit in BR Luna has issues damage wise except Ryoma and Hana. Oboro, Hinoka, Silas, pretty much all of them end up struggling to orko or even do decent damage by lategame. Hinoka's probably the closest to being solid on that front in my experience, but lategame BR throws a ton of Axe users and Armors at you that she DEFINITELY cannot handle reliably without a decent Magic stat to spam Bolt Naginata at them. And it's really not that much of an accuracy drop, only 10% loss over Steel, 15% over Iron and Silver, which in a 2rn system doesn't end up affecting that much. The reward also definitely outweighs the risk since it does so much damage usually. And if you were struggling to hit with these weapons, you were already struggling to hit WITHOUT them, so might as well make it so the hit itself actually means something. That was literally everywhere in what I said. I've said it like 3 times. It isn't something you rely on. But it is something that's very good when it does happen. Calculating it out, with Subaki going, Lv 5-17 Peg, 17-20 Samurai, 1-5 Swordmaster, 5-20 Kinshi (Kinshi has a higher Skill base without a major drop to either defensive stat) His Skill comes out to about 28 (at 20/5 in Kinshi) on average, meaning he gets a ~14% chance, during any attack, to just, not take damage from the next attack he receives. With Pair-Up bonuses from, say, let's go with S Support Setsuna, promoted early to be a 10/1 Sniper to give Pair-Up bonuses to him (theres probably something more optimal that gives Skill and Def in decent value, but it's not really worth the trouble to find, and would likely be too convoluted to actually make ingame), that's another 4 to his Skill, putting him at ~16% chance, which by the time he hits capped Skill, (~20/15 on average), he'll hit 35 (not counting statues to up his cap at all) plus the 4 from Setsuna, which puts him at about a 20% chance to just, not take damage at all on the next enemy attack, which is an amazing tool to have at your disposal, either for luring a strong enemy or provoking a group, protecting a weaker ally, whatever. It's useful. Is it reliable? No, absolutely not, and I never argued it is. But it can't just be simply discounted, especially alongside his solid Defense and HP even before including Guard Naginata, which are roughly 31 Def and 45 HP (before any bonuses) at 20/20. Subaki still kinda sucks because he's such an annoying unit to GET to that point, and his low speed will really hurt him on enemy phase, but it still is a very good defensive niche, especially if you decide to let him S Support Hinoka or Oboro and get Spear Master, which puts his Skill at roughly the same level, but with better stats in pretty much every other area but Res (although without the utility of flight).
  4. Honestly accuracy isn't a massive issue in Fates BR/Rev outside of particularly dodgy enemies like Ninjas, and units with shitty skill. Plus they usually ORKO, occasionally OHKO, anyways with Fates' lesser HP stats, although even if they don't it's likely the unit itself with lackluster stats which means they probably need all the extra damage they can get anyways. And also like, the -10 avoid isn't really a big deal, especially with Fates' lesser prevalence with dodging in general. BR is full of tanky ass units that can't hit too hard back and that weapon series really helps them, even if Ryoma comes in and makes them look like nothing. It's activation rate is low so, like any activation skill, it's not something to be relied on, but the Shield Guage filling isn't about that specific combat, it carried between and can make the next encounter go smoother, and can snowball if you're lucky. That's super good for the enemy-spamy lategame of Birthright and Revelation. And like I said, Subaki's got a really solid skill growth and cap, so he particularly can make use of it. The low activation rate is an issue, hence why you don't rely on it, but it's definitely useful for any unit.
  5. Kinshi's cap is only 1 less than Falcon, and 5% less growth. It wouldn't make too much of a difference, and to be honest, the effective damage from bows and their generally higher might would actually do really well in patching up his poor offenses. On another note, Astra on Subaki is absolutely amazing. Astra itself is seriously like the best activation in Fates bar none. Instantly filling up the Dual Guard meter is amazing, alongside being available with Vantage which pairs perfectly with that fact. Subaki himself has a stupid high Skill growth and a +2 stat mod, so it's definitely worth getting on him.
  6. Kaze!Shigure's Strength growth is actually base 42.5%, which while not exactly the best isn't too bad. In Sky/Falcon Knight that gets bumped up to 52.5, which is fairly respectable, but is still the range where rng screwage can occur rather easily, which is an issue that feels rather common in Fates tbh. Another limiting factor would also be Falcon Knight's kinda garbage Strength cap of 28, reduced by 1 from Kaze's inherited -2 Strength modifier (Shigure's base Str mod is +1). Kaze can usually get around this with effective weaponry and the general amazing versatility of his high crit rate and his base weapon type being amazing, but Shigure suffers in that regard. He also indeed has a garbage magic growth of 2.5 (the average of his base 5 and Kaze's 0 lmao) and won't be a good staffbot outside of base magic Mends/Sun Festals (which admittedly can do decently in a pinch but won't be useful by endgame). If you can get Shigure out of the Sky Knight line that'd probably be good, Ninja works fine, although in BR his only real option outside that is Samurai from Hisame or Cavalier from Sophie tbh.
  7. ^ Definitely gonna agree with this actually, one shotting is extremely difficult to do normally, hence why I think, if you are going to go for offensive Azura, anything with reliable range is way better than Lance/Axe. Archer and Ninja (although their str cap is limiting). Her speed is also great meaning she SHOULD double in most cases, meaning she should be one-rounding reliably in Archer (Ninja may struggle, again because of their limiting str cap. Although in Birthright, with the more prevalent Effective equipment and Dual weaponry, it may be more feasible to go for non-ranged Azura. Seriously, never sleep on the Pike-Ruin Club and the rest of that weapon group.
  8. Since unfortunately 1-2 Range weapons in Fates are kinda ehhh, Bows or Tomes would definitely be the better option for her, probably Archer > Kinshi (Lv 10 promo Peg > Kinshi actually could work too). I do also like Witch!Azura, since Witch makes almost anyone good tbh, and for being able to flip back later and be a warping Dancer, although that depends on your stance on using DLC, even the free stuff.
  9. sometimes i regret not giving a shit about AR since i know i could make a hellish map if i wanted to oh well
  10. im reviving this because fuck you i can
  11. Honestly just generally having it be consistently activated in any way would make it better. The main issue with stuff like Miracle and other activation skills is that you can't rely on them in any way, they're always either an inconsistent safety net or a second crit chance. Hence why the weapon skill system and Fates' Dual Guard system end up being way more consistently impactful and useful during gameplay. As for what to do with Miracle itself, honestly I think putting it on a cooldown or something would be best. Like, 4 or 5 turn cooldown. Every turn would make it pretty easy to choke a point with just a defenseless healer, but once per map would be a little underwhelming imo. Having it be a consistent option, but one that you can't really spam, would definitely be cool.
  12. oh shit you're right i forgot yeah this is 100% hacked 6iv is a dead giveaway 99% of the time especially for legends. usually 6iv (non legendary) stuff is kept for personal breeding projects or just it being the person's breeding goal in the first place so its unlikely to see any 6iv in breedject trading (which id say is the main usage of WTing) unless they got a lot and were feeling generous. I actually have a hacked Shiny Latias of my own in Home that I got through WT. Wonder if it's the same guy... although I got mine ages ago. EDIT: Oh yeah I actually got TWO shiny latias through WT! One is from ORAS in a Master Ball at Level 100 with no perfect IVs. What's weird is actually it having NO perfect IVs, since in Gen 6, you're actually guaranteed to have at least 3 perfect IVs. Unless I'm unaware of a quirk with the gift Latias from mid ORAS, they probably genned the thing and forgot about the IV legality of it. It also has the Hoenn Champion Ribbon. On the other hand, my other shiny Latias is entirely legal. But the weird thing is, it's from HGSS, and in a Pokeball. It must've been used be the original person quite a bit too, because it actually has a Ribbon too, the Sinnoh Champion Ribbon. It also has a single move deleted, which makes me assume it likely had Fly or something, since HM moves have to be removed when transfering from 4 to 5. Oh, and it's also Japanese, that's a thing. Honestly not actually sure when I got either of them.
  13. I'd also like to mention Latias appears at Level 30 in ORAS, and none of the ribbons it has are exclusively from before Gen 6. And given which ribbons it has, I'd believe it's likely from ORAS. Coolness Master, Beauty Master, Cuteness Master, Cleverness Master are all the ORAS maxed contest stat ribbons, with the odd exception of Toughness, which definitely lends credibility to it being not hacked since its an odd exclusion. Best Friends, Training are Gen 6 introduced and available up to Gen 8. Skillful Battler, Expert Battler are Gen 6 exclusives that from the Battle Maison. Effort, Alert, Shock, Downcast, Careless, Relax, Snooze, Smile are Gen 4 introduced but were made available again in Gen 6. Gorgeous, Royal and Gorgeous Royal Ribbons were also Gen 4 available and reintroduced in Gen 6. The only thing that bothers me is the moveset, and it being only Level 40. I struggle to believe it would actually have obtained all of the Battle facility Ribbons while not even hitting level 50, and with that moveset it's weird to imagine it having the Gen 8 Battle Tower ribbons. I guess it's TECHNICALLY possible but I have to wonder why they'd even go through the effort only to WT the thing away. Also, it's 100% perfect IV with Timid, I checked the calc. Unfortunately, this thing is very likely hacked, UNLESS it says Hyper Trained on the IV page of its stats. Then it's just very weird, and possible duped, but otherwise totally legit. I still believe it's most likely genned, since the likelihood of it having 0 EVs, and going through all of the Battle facilities and champions, and also being exactly 10 levels above the ORAS catch level while also having a very very, uh, bad moveset, are just very... weird. Role Play is an ORAS/USUM tutor move exclusive with Latias, and then Roost and Confide are TM exclusives for it in Gen 6/7.
  14. CT has been suuuuuper fun for me, compared to IoA and base SwSh there's a lot of content to do and it's generally pretty fun too. I'm also really happy to see them add another Mythical to the pool of ones that're available outside events. I'm very close to finishing the Dex myself, just the 2 new Regis (I'm shiny hunting Drago because ngl it looks clean as shit), Cobalion (somehow I never got one) and Spectrier, who should be easy to get with alts since Home apparently lets you transfer between profiles??? i legit never knew that but thats amazing They managed to make Roaming Pokemon fun which, I guess taking out the annoying things would do that lmao. Moltres kinda stunk as a roamer but Articuno's minigame (although it would've been better if it was a little more clear) and Zapdos' chase were both pretty fun. I'm also just so, so glad the age of having to refight the E4 and champ to respawn legendaries is over, now they just respawn right away when reloading (or redoing the floor tiles for regis) which means if you didn't save you only lost Pokeballs, not hours of your time.
  15. Summer Sylvain's "Hanging with Tens" is just... the best dumb pun in all of FEH, honestly.
  16. yes.... i love her..... I've been grateful to find so many other fans of her over the last couple years, it's been a great time...
  17. I'm not really the type of person to use the term "waifu" anymore... ... but I mean, I've been kinda dedicated to yelling at people about Ophelia for the last like 3 or 4 years, so take that as you will.
  18. Hard disagree, Hanneman is an amazing magic nuke. His main issue is just... being a Male magic user. They all get pretty screwed thanks to just lacking the amazing magic classes girls have. His utility through White magic is also kind of garbage, Recover and Ward, but he really just needs to nuke. Worst units in the game I'd say are Caspar and Manuela. Caspar has some low bases for how mediocre some of his vital growths are, and unfortunately he struggles to get his feet off the ground on average, until he hits War Master where he can finally pick up some steam. He's not an awful unit in the long run, but getting him there isn't fun. Raphael at least has better strength base and growth to work with for Fists, meaning his low speed is less of an issue. Plus Raph easily picks up Armor/Fortress Knight for an amazing Defense boost. Manuela, on the other hand, is a mixed offense female, which on paper isn't awful, but her growths and bases in them are veeeery low for the point you normally get her. And, despite having the rare Bolting, she has a negative proficiency in Reason, meaning she's going to have to work extremely hard to get into Magic offense focused classes. Not to mention her negative proficiency in Flying, meaning even if you wanted to put her into the objectively best classes in the game, you're going to have to focus on it and likely only get her into Wyvern by veeeery lategame at best. While she can get Trickster or War Cleric, there are much, MUCH better options for both due to her extremely poor Strength and negative proficiency in Reason meaning her literal only offensive options are Hexblade and Levin Sword/Aura Knuckles. So, basically, Manuela lacks the ability to access Magic offense classes, or her own spells for that matter, without extreme focus which is very difficult to throw into her given her later join time compared to other units with bad Reason, she has poor Strength meaning she'll struggle to use anything but a Levin Sword/Aura Knuckles in mixed Phys/Faith classes, and she can't even access the Wyvern line without EXTREME focus on a negative proficiency from the moment you get her. She has Warp, but as great as Warp is I don't feel like it's enough to justify sinking resources into her when there's 2 much better Warpers in the game with actual combat capabilities.
  19. It's just them uploading the UK version of the trailer, which they always do.
  20. Unite might be fine if it wasn't Tencent developing it. Apparently they have a poor reputation, and being a Chinese developer they do legally have to give user information to the Chinese government. As always watch over the situation rather than assume, but at the moment there's a lot of signs pointing to issues of information security. Beyond that my issue is that it just looks very... normal? Very standard, I guess would be more accurate. There's nothing really unique about it that makes me want to play it. Cafe Mix was another puzzle game, even by the same developers as Trozei and Shuffle (which is Genius Sonority, who're also the Colosseum/XD devs), but it's got a super cute style and did end up being pretty fun to boot. Unite just looks... uninspired. Agreed with this.
  21. Honestly I'm actually voting for us to get Let's Go Johto. Not only would it give more time for them to work on what's coming next for the mainline after SwSh*, it'll, frankly, probably being the most balanced gameplay of the Johto games. GSC level curve is absolutely garbage (among numerous other issues) and HGSS didn't fix the curve that much, so honestly Let's Go Johto might end up being a better gameplay experience than the originals and remake, although I doubt it'll reach HGSS's raw content. Given they hopefully also took feedback on LGPE and removed the less enjoyable things, I do have a bit of faith in it. Plus, if the mascots aren't Pikachu and Eevee, it'll be a BIG breath of fresh air. * (As is, there's about 1 year of pre-production and 2 years of production, assuming we don't get another main title between SwSh and the next game, whether it be a new game entirely or a remake. Adding a Let's Go to the mix between them would give another year of production, meaning hopefully higher quality.) But honestly, the dream right now for me personally is actually a Colosseum remake. I wasn't 100% on board for the idea before, but the previous Presents had a looootta Colosseum available mons in the back, including Espeon and Umbreon specifically, the dark Pikachu plushie, and, the kicker for me, Genius Sonority made Pokemon Cafe Mix (which by the way, is out now, and extremely goddamn cute). Not that they haven't worked on spinoffs before, but they haven't exactly done anything at all in the last few years, and I doubt Cafe Mix is the only project. Either they're being outsourced for a project right now, or they're cooking something. ... Buuuuut that's just the conspiracy theorist in my talking.
  22. ^ This. Bringing up a Pokemon example raised earlier, I similarly hate the distribution of Mega Evolutions to Pokemon like Salamence, Charizard, Metagross etc, but I've never put that on the Pokemon itself so much as I put it on Gamefreak for awful distribution of Megas. Another example is Camilla, Camilla is a character I really hate being so popular for the reasons that she is, but I can't bring myself to hate her as much as I hate the way she was written. She had a LOT of potential for being a good character, being possibly put into a seat of power she didn't want in BR (which was explored in Heroes but put aside for pandering sadly), experiencing immense childhood trauma from the concubine wars (ONLY explored in Niles/Camilla support), and growing up essentially acting as a mother to her other siblings, but instead of making an interesting character out of those elements, Intsys decided to pander to people who want their marriable "Onee-san". She HAS good supports like Xander/Camilla and Niles/Camilla but SO MUCH is outweighed by Avatar pandering, but I've honestly never put that on Camilla as much as I've put it on the writers. Conversely, we have Azama, a character who's fully realized as a cynical, nihilistic monk with humorous remarks. Even without a proper backstory, he's still got a generally full and finished character. But I can't stand him and how much he genuinely bullies others for no good reason beyond getting a kick out of it. That's the difference, for me, in disliking a character and disliking a character's writing.
  23. Not gonna disagree with this at all, I actually totally feel you on them getting stale over time especially if you didn't like it to begin with, I'm just personally a big fan of the trope. I also completely agree, Ophelia in her Siegbert support is pretty awful and I do not blame you for disliking her for that. But I'm actually gonna come in and talk about said Ophelia/Siegbert support a little. The Eng script as a whole really tries to push Ophelia's pride to usually blinded levels of it, where as in Jp she is, yes very prideful to the point of occasional rudeness, but NOWHERE near the level that Eng Ophelia hits. (in the spoiler is a copypaste of a write up i did elsewhere) You can read the JP support here: https://pastebin.com/TE6zUEak And yes while it IS a fan translation, the difference in tone is a very big and turns Ophelia into a much worse person in Eng, which is carried over to 2 other supports, Forrest and Ignatius (both of which are far better in JP). It's so weird to see her going from her Midori support, all about how war is hard and sometimes you just need someone to tell you what you want to hear to keep you moving forward and how she's aware enough to be that person even if she does get lost in her own world, to Forrest and Siegbert ENG supports where she's so blinded by pride that she can't take a hint that maybe she's taken it too far before Siegbert spells the whole thing out. Anyways yeah I just wanted to get this off my chest because I genuinely hate the way Eng Ophelia gets written in those 3 supports and I've seen this get talked about before. ... Oh, right, on thread topic uhhhh I only really hate Azama across the whole FE cast and among all of gaming? Not much. I love every Pokemon, I don't have any characters I can think of that I dislike... Not really THAT unpopular but I do have a bit of a hatred for Yosuke from Persona 4 because of how much oh an ass he is to everyone and ESPECIALLY Kanji, but I actually haven't even 100% seen his Social Link yet so I'm reserving my full judgement for now.
  24. This. I believe it's left vague because it doesn't matter in VW whether she lives or dies. Rhea's time is over, whether she died with her sins or lived to repent them. Fodlan is in new hands. EDIT: That said I'm really not for Rhea dying. I'd rather her not get off scot-free for the ignorance she'd had throughout her life as Archbishop. She had the 5 years of imprisonment, but for a nearly ageless being, that's practically nothing. She deserves to live with the reality of what she did, or didn't. . Y'know that sounded really harsh, and it was. For the record, Rhea's probably my favorite character in 3H in terms of just her character, I just don't believe she deserves the luxury of death.
  25. I'm really torn between FE12 Arran and Seth. Arran is just super fun with reclassing options, but Seth is... Seth. Buuuut I think Arran edges out the win, since Flier Jagen kinda just speaks for itself. (i know FE11 Jagen also does this, i just havent finished it lmao frederick can too but it's not quite as immediately available or useful comparatively to wyvern!arran)
