Another detail. One of the evil guys says "So, the Fell Stone consumes even the darkness itself."
This sounds really ominous. Maybe even related to "The Crests are to blame."
-
So just did a quick analysis, picking up some main details (I'll let others do the full in-depth one), but I want to show a few things.
SpoilerIt appears all the main characters get a new weapon after the time skip. Dimitri's looks like bone or something, but the main attraction is the stone in the middle. It looks like the stone we saw in the Feb Direct, but it appears to have Dimitri's Crest, or the Crest of Blaiddyd.
SpoilerNext we have Claude.
SpoilerClaude's Bow also appears to be made of bone and contains a Crest Stone, most likely the Crest of Riegan.
SpoilerEdelgard gets a different weapon. Its an ornate sword, reminds me of the Beloved Zofia. This sword bears the Crest of Seiros, which makes sense for Edelgard, but why is the sword not made of Bone like the others? Maybe she also has an axe?
And could her sword be the same that Seiros is using in her fight with Nemesis(?)?
SpoilerAnd is this the same sword that Catherine wields?

I really want to start analyzing this trailer, because there were so many details.
That trailer really created hype. Setting up the story and giving so many battles and events!

5 year time skip confirmed.
Blonde Byleth?!?
SO much to analyze now!

Where do you see an eyepatch? I can't see anything in the green image

SpoilerI kind of see an eye, not an eyepatch. I've highlighted it to help others see it. It's very faint, but there is something there.
And that cracked Mural looks really cool!

New Crests means an update of my chart! (Thanks VincentASM for those in the analysis). (And welcome back after the updates!)
SpoilerSo far, no pattern is emerging. Mercedes' Crest is in an odd spot because she is originally from the Adrestian Empire, but is part of the Blue Lions. So, if I made the Crest of Lamine Red instead, then everything seems to be in regions based of their origins. Just a trend, but with still so many unknown crests it is unlikely to hold up.
-
4 more crests to add to the chart. I just need the symbols to match to the names.
The questing board looks really cool!
-
Getting to see some villains is exciting! Let's hope there will be some actual story details in the article.
And more information about the Crests is great.
-
All the monastery stuff sounds so cool, but also a little overwhelming at the moment. I really want to see footage of these features in action or have a demo, so I can mess around and learn them myself.
Just seeing the wall of text describing everything is a little daunting, but still really exciting.

Spoiler
I'm working on compiling the Crests and their owners on the Seiros Mural to give an organized way to view everything. This is what I have so far. (There is one crest marked yellow without a name, because it was found on the Leicester Flag/Banner).
Also, if Crests are supposed to be passed down via bloodlines, then does that mean that Byleth is a descendant of this King Nemesis character? Or is Nemesis related to Sothis?

Do you mean the five symbols? It's been a long time, so I don't remember all the appearances, but it appears on the floor of the Hoshidan plaza.
It's meant to symbolise the five dragons that Hoshido revere--and the five legendary weapons.
Is this what you are looking for?
5 hours ago, Cysx said:Interestingly, the thumbnail for the english site has the symbol as an icon. You know, "the" symbol:
That "evil" symbol looks like the main symbol for the game. It appears several places on the special edition. And if you look at the link that you shared, I found it in the Seiros Mural. This symbol will be important, not sure how yet, but it will be.

It seems to be the blason of the Church of Seiros.
That symbol should belong to Edelgard's house.
SpoilerLook at the bottom of the map, by Hresvelg.
The dragon is new.

For just this moment lost in time, I am finally me
Yet still I hide, behind this mask that I have become
My blackened heart, scorched by flames of force I can’t run from
I look to you like a red rose seeking the sun no matter where it goes
I long to stay where the light dwells, to guard against the cold that I know so wellThese verses sound so much like Sothis and from what we have seen, it kind of fits.
We have seen Sothis with this symbol on her, but it also is the symbol on the "evil" old man in the e3 trailer. And some people have compared Sothis' attire to ropes/chains. So, my theory is that Sothis was captured by the evil group, a group hiding within the church. Sothis has been in captivity so long that it has affected her. "My blackened heart, scorched by flames of force I can’t run from" Sothis can't escape from this group. "For just this moment lost in time, I am finally me""I look to you like a red rose seeking the sun no matter where it goes" So, when Byleth is attacked/killed and their power is awoken, a moment lost in time happens and Sothis is given hope. "I long to stay where the light dwells, to guard against the cold that I know so well" Sothis wants this evil group destroyed because she is surrounded by it or a part of it.
This would add an interesting bit because Sothis would be guiding us to uncover the true evil within the church.

Such an odd assortment of art. Between the box art, the special edition art, and the steelbook art nothing about the artstyle is consistent.
But something neat to point out. The main protagonists all "main" different aspects of the weapon triangle.
Byleth - Swords
Demitri - Lances
Edelgard - Axes
Claude - BowsAlso in those screenshots is the first time seeing this crest in the game:
I'm curious to where that castle balcony is located.

Okay... Just found something very interesting...
This evil crest appears several times: On the Old Man in the E3 trailer, on Sothis, and almost everyone on the Special Edition.
But what if I told you that it was hiding somewhere else, just out of sight.
Behold! The Seal of the Divine Seiros has hidden a dark truth. It you look at the positioning of the Wings (dragon, Pegasus, and Seiros) they outline a familiar shape.
(It's not perfect because I don't have a good clean copy of the evil symbol)Anyway, This does add into the whole, "Church is evil theme." Not sure what this could mean, but if it is hidden in the mural, then something dark is hidden within the Church. -

How does it make things more complicated (with the mini crests in the center)? Sorry, but I cannot follow your thoughts there.
I meant it made my theory more complicated. It makes perfect sense lore/history wise. But it contradicted my theory about the order of the Crests on the Mural.

I see (also i don't, your image doesn't show up). Maybe this will mean that Leicester, with it's a little bit more modern way to rule, is a relative recent creation and they were once territories from the other kingdoms? But that's a stretch if i ever wrote one. If anything the order represents nothing because in-universe the artwork predates all countries besides maybe the Adrestian Empire (who may be over 1000 y.o. if we consider a previous dynasty).
Sorry about the images. Let's try again.
SpoilerLet's see if this works now.
But i do agree. The more we look into it, the less likely it appears that a Region/Teams Crest symbols are grouped together.

The order is indeed different.
On the CD the order is different, but the order of the crests on the artbook is the same. Most likely so they didn't have to redo the artwork.
First one here is the order on the artwork/mural, the second is what i saw on the CD. The three symbols on the side were obstructed in the image, so no idea exactly where they go. It definitely changed the order, but @RexBolt the Leicester symbols are still mixed around the Dimitri/ Blaiddyd Symbol.

We saw the "support of all" on Linhardt's healing magic, but if you flip the Western Church Soldier's magic you can make out more of the words. It's three phrases around the edge, all in english.
"The goddess always lives(?) in heaven and Fodlan."
"___ ___ __ing over is for the mother of all living beings."
"As support of all m___ things."Linhardt and Casper both block the start of the second phrase, but there is one frame where the Soldier's Fire reveals part of it.

We can already see the 4 crests from Leicester Alliance and although I like your theory, they do not match with it.
The number of crests might be a possibility though.
37 minutes ago, DuckPhoenix said:If you look closely at this leicester alliance crest/emblem/whatever ot is called in english..
Interesting. I didn't notice those before.
Those symbols also appear in the center of the Crest/Emblem as well. That does make things more complicated.
Both Adrestian and Faerghus only have the main crest symbol (of their leader's houses) on their banners. So, really interesting how Leicester focuses on four. Maybe because they are an alliance instead of the empire and kingdom?
Then there is the fact that both Linhardt and a Western Church Soldier use the same symbol in their magic. Linhardt is from the Black Eagles (Adrestian Empire) and the Western Church is located on the border of the Adrestian Empire and Faerghus.

Looking at the Seiros Mural and the crests known on the map then comparing that with the map shown in the new trailer, I found a really interesting pattern.
More analysis in the Map thread. So far this seems busted.

We also know from the mural with the goddess we saw in the first trailer, there are only 21 crests. With all this information, we can make two assumptions:
I've also been looking into that. I broke it down by number of Houses/Locations/Cities in each region, and found a really cool pattern.
Will continue to look into.We know the Crests of the 3 main protagonists because they are shown on the map. Gautier (part of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus) also has a crest, but which one is unknown. But looking at the Seiros Mural and the locations of the Main 3 Crests, the breakdown worked out perfectly.
This could all be a coincidence and pure speculation, but it works out so well.

Thanks! I was trying to do this, but having a lot of trouble with a few names.
Working on a few theories. Give me time.

It makes sense for her to get a Bone Axe. All artwork has her with an axe, and there already is a Bone Sword (Byleth's). So, With Byleth (Sword), Dimitri (Lance), and Claude (Bow), it makes sense for Edelgard to get an Axe.
