Did you know that there's going to be gameplay footage at Gamescom soon? You can watch it here at these times:
Europe: 5PM (CEST)
UK: 4PM (BST)
East Coast US: 11AM (EDT)
West Coast US: 8AM (PDT)

Second, how does it not piss you off that the localized version is less mature than the JP version? Because of Treehouse, they're making FE pander to kids and I'm tired of it. One of the reasons FE appealed to me to begin with was just how mature and grown up it felt to various other Nintendo franchises. But because of what Treehouse is doing to these kinds of games, they're taking away a huge aspect of what made FE good to veteran players.
Well, the localized version of Fates does have:
-Flora committing suicide by burning herself alive in front of her sister
-Ryoma committing suicide by cutting himself open and electrocuting himself in front of his sibling
-Xander accidentally murdering his younger sister, and then having his sibling kill him
-Corrin being able to marry his/her siblings (whom they are conveniently unrelated to) and his cousin (whom they aren't conveniently unrelated to)
-Sumeragi becoming a pincushion and being murdered in front of his young child
-Garon and his many, many affairs and illegitimate children
-Camilla
Well, there's still no face-petting, but that married dialogue would be too hardcore for most reasonable people anyway.

He's not exactly into "that sort of thing"... he seems to show interest in it from a more artistic perspective, at least that's the impression I got. He's really into painting, maybe he's into figure painting too.
Hmm, that post was a joke anyway since I already knew that Shigure would appreciate "such things" for artistic reasons. I just wanted to post something since my "list of characters who like bath towels" list was ninja'd by Anomalocaris... I adjusted my post to make my less-than-serious nature more clear.
That still doesn't explain Izana though. But that's probably because he's just weird.

I wanted to answer this topic's question before, but here is most accurate answer you'll get:
[spoiler=Warning, this video contains nope]
Quite elegantly said, if I do say so myself...
By my confusingly many gods, is this how I come across when I'm harping on Fates' story?
Because I don't think a one word answer can't properly answer your question:
[spoiler=Warning, this video contains yes]
-
Silly Shigure and your artistic ways. I suppose that some things can only be appreciated by artists... as well as wolfskin, people with dirty minds, merchants, Setsuna...

Sorcerer!Flora
After watching Frozen for the first time, Flora decided to specialize in magic just like her idol Elsa. Unfortunately there are no ice mages in this game (or any FE game for that matter), so she instead asked Kilma to train her as dark mage.

Before I end up forgetting, here are the results for the rest of the polls (you can ask if you want to know what the 'other' responses consisted of):

I'm not really sure what's considered an 'awful' unit, but anyway...
Maid!Azura (A+ Elise)
Elise secretly ships Corrin and Azura together and thinks that Corrin has a maid fetish, so she somehow managed to talk Azura into becoming a maid. Or if Elise doesn't ship them, maybe she just thinks that Azura would make a cute maid, who knows. Regardless, Azura doesn't really understand why but she decided to go along with it anyway. Additionally, she can use her newfound skills to polish Corrin's scales in dragon form, because even dragons need to look their best.
-
Am I the only one hoping for a bigger secret boss who controls Team Edgelords from the shadows or something like that? I feel so spoiled and underwhelmed by the villain reveal.
"You thought that Guzma was leader of Team Skull, but it was me, Dio!"
Anyway, since I was bored here's a list of type combinations that don't exist as of Gen VI. Type combinations new to Gen VII are listed in bold:
Normal/Poison
Normal/Rock
Normal/Bug
Normal/Ghost
Normal/Steel
Normal/Ice
Normal/Dragon (Drampa)
Normal/Dark
Fighting/Ground
Fighting/Ghost
Fighting/Electric
Fighting/Ice
Fighting/Dragon
Fighting/Fairy
Poison/Rock
Poison/Steel
Poison/Fire (Salandit)
Poison/Electric
Poison/Psychic
Poison/Ice

Bug/Dragon
Bug/Dark
Bug/Fairy (Cutiefly)
Ghost/Fairy (Mimikyu)
Steel/Ice (Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Sandslash)
Fire/Grass
Fire/Ice
Fire/Fairy
Electric/Psychic (Alolan Raichu)
Electric/Dark
Ice/Fairy (Alolan Ninetales)
Dark/Fairy
There aren't actually as many missing as I previously thought... What other new type combinations will we get?
-
Raichu actually being remembered by the developers? Nah, it's definitely fake.

"The only difference is that Lucina's programming is far superior to anything in the real world."
Well, I can't say that he's wrong about that. I mean, Lucina may not be the best waifu, but I will admit that her programming is better than that of most people.
But I though that Hank Hill was already married? -
Those haunted sandcastles are amazing. Sadfish is trying to imitate Zygarde (since they both join together to form one organism, though Sadfish only pretends to), so consequently I shall call it 'Fishy Zygarde' until we get an English name.
Alolan Meowth has that Fire Emblem royal blue hair. Marowak is Fire-type, as everyone guessed, but it doesn't seem to be based on a fire dancer...
From what I've heard, Bewear's preevolution has the opposite problem of it's evolved form: it's adored by people but hates the attention, while Bewear is feared by all but wants to be loved. Guess that it can't appreciate what it has until it's gone...
Team Skull could use Oboro's help picking out outfits.
Thanks to Glorious Haunted Sandcastle and Fishy Zygarde, trying to pick my team has become increasingly difficult...
-
Mikoto only has a conversation with Corrin, and Sumeragi only has conversations with Corrin and Ryoma. They use their generic lines for everyone else. In Heirs of Fate, they and Arete have conversations with their grandchildren.
-
Do you reckon the Creature Campaign characters are worth putting on the Sacred Stones part of the list or no? Granted, that's only Ismaire, Hayden, and Fado currently not on the list, since all the recruitable villains are already on the list, but still, I think they'd work.
I'll admit that I forgot about the Creature Campaign when I made the list. Since those three are playable characters, even if they are bonuses, I suppose that they are worth adding.
-
There was actually a Pokedex leak around Black and White's prerelease... though that turned out to be fake. Consequently I shall remain skeptical on this 'leak' too.
I especially don't know how the 'starters with varying types' thing is supposed to work. What exactly does a Robin Hood-based archer owl have to do with electricity, or a wrestler cat with ghosts?
Not sure I buy that Alola form leak since it was somewhat implied we'd be getting Alolan Marowak and that's not in there.
Speaking of which, since people seem to think that this implied Alolan Marowak will be a Fire-type, maybe it will be based on a fire dancer?

Heirs of Fate 2 indicates that Azura crystallizes the dragonstone out of nothing; or rather, the dragon's desire to transform:
Azura: I regret to tell you that it would be dangerous for you to transform now. Without more control over your dragon form, you could go berserk again.
Kana: R-really? Aww...
Azura: But I have a solution. I'll crystallize your impulse to transform in a stone. That way, you won't give in to it and become a dragon against your will.
How exactly she has this ability is never explained, but it probably has something to do with her being from Valla.

Maybe I should make a thread detailing the tiers of canon pairings...
Anyway, the 'proper' answer is that male Corrin married whoever you wanted him to marry. There is no canon pairing for him, or anyone for that matter.
But there's also Azura. Unlike his other prospect spouses, she forms a strong bond with Corrin outside supports and gets special privileges that no one else has (such as the aforementioned three different supports). Therefore, it makes the most sense for him to marry her storywise, though this still doesn't really make her his 'canon' spouse. But since Corrin was originally a fixed character and not a player avatar (well, probably), maybe Azura was created with the idea of being his love interest in mind?
Yeah, Azura is about as close to a canon love interest as an Avatar is ever likely to get in a Fire Emblem game. Unless it's increasing exponentially with each game that is. From Kris/Katarina to Chrom/Robin to Azura/Corrin,
Ordinarily I would say that Chrom/Robin is pretty canon, but Sumia exists, so...
I bet $5 the two leads in the next Fire Emblem will be childhood best friends since they were two years old who share a bed and practice kissing with each other.
Is it strange that I wouldn't mind this?
Mildly on topic, but besides being more acceptable in Japan, cousin marriage is actually legal in most of the world.

At first I didn't like Litten's or Popplio's, but now I like them (which usually happens with leaks). Rowlet's was cool and still is cool, so if this is real I'll probably choose that.
Also remember that 87.5% of Mermaid Popplios will be male.
-
Under normal circumstances I wouldn't mind, but in Fates's case especially such criticism rarely, if ever, actually goes anywhere new and usually only leads to people complaining about the same things over and over and over and over and over...
So my reaction is less "Why are these people hating things I like?" and more "Sweet Arceus, we've discussed Fates's plot how many times now?" Ergo, I do mind, but that's mainly because I don't like beating dead horses. I don't like beating live horses either, really, but that's something else entirely.
(Also what Jave said)
-
I think that it's impossible for the leak to be real, because otherwise it would say that Ridley and K. Rool were playable. Wait, this isn't for Smash...
In all seriousness, though, it is probably at least partially true, but I wouldn't get too attached to it in case some things are wrong. I'm still sad that the Chorus Kids weren't in Smash...
-
I'm pretty sure her arm fat went to her buttocks...
Silly Thane, that's not how anatomy work. Muscle is muscle, and fat is fat. Azura probably stays in shape via frequent dance practice, which is likely exhausting and might explain her surprisingly large appetite in her supports with Xander.
I'm pretty sure everyone in Fates is used to seeing butts everywhere; few women seem to want to wear pants, and Azura's dress is damn tight and somewhat revealing, so people are probably just numb to it by now.
But that doesn't distract from how big her rump is. Even Camilla is probably jealous.Though considering past games and Layla, Azura's dress is largely tame by dancer standards, so her garb is probably considered rather modest in comparison.Yeah let's go with that one since it makes me feel better about myself. (:
In all seriousness and to stay on topic, those two drama cds with Hinata/Oboro and Niles/Odin on the cover gives me hope for official art to be released for all characters. That's been like my one dream for a while now. That's all I really want tbh.
I think that everyone* does have artwork, but we just haven't seen most of it. Maybe Fates will one day get an artbook** so we can see all of it and more? I still want to know how some of these outfits work...
*Well, all the playable characters, anyway. Maybe the previous generation of royals, too.
**Not counting the one with the Special Edition, which was intriguing but rather short.

Flexibility has to do with the muscles, not with bone structure. Twisting her spine like that while keeping her hips and legs straight looks very uncomfortable. I tried doing it and my back almost cracked lol. And I'm not even sure if I got the exact pose right.
While Azura probably is pretty flexible, that comment wasn't entirely serious. I guess that Kozaki just has issues with anatomy sometimes, just like with F!Corrin's two left feet. Though I don't think that Azura's pose was meant to be particularly 'sexy' anyway.
That would be neat, but IntSys would never do that when they could continue making money off the royals.
Probably for the best, otherwise it might contradict my fanficsEh, probably. But I will never rest until all your fanfics are confirmed to be noncanon, mwahahahaha.
Besides the Corrin/Azura parts anyway.Azura is fucking ripped underneath that tight, revealing dress and panty-tights, I guess.
Corrin once accidentally saw Azura bathing, and he said that she had an eight-pack. That Azura was shredded. My theory is that muscles in the FE universe, for women, are inversely proportional to one's strength. Ergo, Kagero, Charlotte, and Azura are some of the strongest characters, while Rinkah's strength is...
Did somebody say Azura in some ridiculous bent over fan-servicey pose?
You're welcome! From Kozaki himself!
I wonder how Azura would feel about this. Now everyone in the army knows how ample Azura's posterior is. How will she ever go out in public again, with everyone trying to see if her rear is really that big?
-
I'll talk about that drawing, I loved it. Queen Azura for the winThe figma, the drama CD, or both? My bet is the Figma sticks her in that awful Nohr Noble getup and lets the fanboys do the rest, while the drama CDs will harken back to the cheap boob jokes of the 4koma and reduce her personality to the same giggly speshul moe ditz lots of fanworks do. In a worst case scenario, Leo and Xander's argument will revolve around her too.
If they had the ability to see the future, I like to think they would have focused on fixing the mistakes in Fates plot rather than giving Fem!Corrin's design to someone else.
Azura is still better thoughAh, so I wasn't the only one who interpreted it as Queen Azura.I was referring to the drama CD, but I'll also cover bets for the figma too. She'll probably wear her default Nohr Princess outfit like Phillius said (well, hopefully). But isn't the 4koma fanmade? I don't know if fanwork would influence official material.
It seems odd that none of the royal sisters are included, though Azura is included so it could be worse. At least we're getting character artwork out of it. Do you know what would be neat? If there was a drama CD that focused on the history of the previous generation of royals (Mikoto, Garon, Sumeragi, and Arete). Too bad that'll probably never happen though.
The Azura art was nice, though for some reason, I thought her stance was awkward.
She is a dancer, so I suppose that she would be pretty flexible.
-
You know, I would like to us all to appreciate Kozaki's drawing of Azura, but no one's talking about that so...If by cash cow you mean reducing her into fanservice to milk
see my pun there, since her track record for MyCastle shenanigans in 4koma has a high number of fanservice and boobs, and one of her tracks for the drama is literally "I didn't have time to put my armor on". I have a bad feeling about that.So are we going to place our bets on how fanservice-y it will be? In that case I volunteer to keep track of everyone's theories.
So, I mean...I don't consider this a victory for Fem!Corrin. If anything it's just dragging her down.
Well, it would be a victory for her fanboys, at least. Though that's probably not a good thing...
You know, if IS had the ability to see into the future like Mikoto and Anankos do, I wonder if F!Corrin's design wouldn't have been used for a non-avatar character so fanboys could properly waifu (and pet, in the Japanese version) her. But then would the fangirls use a less attractive avatar as a self-insert...?
Though it really wouldn't make a difference because Azura would still be undeniably superior. What were those voters thinking, not making her number one?
