  1. His opinion? It had been rare that Tarquin's own views were taken into account. It had only been a minute or so after his own grilling, he needed to help decide the fate of the Captain. She'd clearly not followed standard operating procedures, and, now that he considered the other side of the argument, it could have gone incredibly poorly for both her and the Heion Riese as a whole. However, the XO wasn't a replacement that Tarquin would have been comfortable with. It was clear she didn't like him, even if it was by association with the Captain. She'd mentioned an Ensign, why had he taken command instead of the XO? Command seemed incredibly tense and Tarquin wasn't sure whether these issues were new or old - surely there was a way of making the decision? It took him a few moments to gather himself, if he got upset or panicked they'd just treat him like a child. He'd been judged and criticised already. Their approval was too far away for him to reach, none of them had even considered how he'd felt in the situation - the prospect of dying like that was beyond anything he'd experienced. He wasn't meant to be friends with any of these people, he was a thing that got results to them - just like Nikolai had said. "I would recommend awaiting a decision from central before making any adjustments to current command structure. There were multiple breaches of protocol, but the result was favourable enough to avoid disaster. However, the hypothetical consequences were severe and should not be ignored. A formal report should be constructed, highlighting the issues raised and countermeasure proposals." Tarquin replied, thinking it would make things easier if the higher ups could take the decision away from the crew. "There is no current mission objective or assignment, so there are unlikely to be any risks involved in continuing with the Captain in lead. However, it may be advisable for Mr Turner and Ensign Calvin to pay close attention, in case further issues are identified."
  2. Cuan's only faults are that he doesn't dodge quite as well as Sigurd and leaves you.. He's pretty much on par with Sigurd as your best unit for most of his existence. Even if he doesn't finish, he does enough of a chip for one of your chumps to take it. Javelin chips are a lot more helpful than they sound. He's easily better than your other not-Sigurd ponies whilst he exists, and to be honest, the others aren't really doing much once he leaves. Nobody's going to steal his lances from him, he'll hog the Steel and Silver for his entire lifespan. 8.5/10
  3. Astin's gaze was particularly unpleasant, their eyes burned into Tarquin like red hot pokers in the back of his head. Was there something that Astin was thinking? It wasn't a happy face in the slightest, had he said something wrong? Even thinking about it made Tarquin uncomfortable. There had to be a way out of the conversation, he'd never felt so much pressure from other people, other people who weren't even meant to evalulating him. He'd been ready to get up and leave if Astin hadn't moved on to facing Roxy. At least somebody was trying to back the captain up, Tarquin had realised that he was woefully unable to do so himself. In fact, his attempt would have been poor even without the pressure - it was simply beyond him. He couldn't even begin to think of a way to respond, there was too much going on to even know who to respond to. He hadn't really been paying attention to the XO's agenda, nor had he really noticed it. Jess was getting into al this trouble because of him, he'd only just processed it in his head. If he hadn't caused so much trouble, the meeting wouldn't have even happened. He couldn't say it though, everyone would be angry with him again... and he'd barely survived the meeting so far. He had superior abilities and intellect, why was he falling at the first hurdle of communication? Books and training never taught him how to get along with other people, and he'd never had any incentive to try and learn for himself. All he could do is hope things went favourably. If he had someone like the Professor, Bruno or even Nikolai to stick up for him, he might have felt more comfortable to respond.

  6. Kill them all? It appeared that Astin wasn't familiar with the protocol, but then again, most people outside of his development hadn't even heard of it. "That's not technically correct. I stated that minimal disruption to allied forces, any detonation within range of allies is strongly advised against. My deployment and instructions are a direct request of higher command." That would at least cover the misconception, or at least Tarquin thought it would. He hadn't intended to detonate adjacent to his allies, but conveying that convincingly was simply outside of his communication ability. There was no way he could fully explain himself to the others. Both his orders and his own fears prevented him from divulging anything. None of them would ever look at him the same way again, and he was already enough of an outcast already. Part of him wished for Cheryl to be present, even Megumi would have been able to help him out a little. "I had never been injured in combat before, I required Doctor Amparo's input in order to gauge the severity of my injuries correctly." Tarquin replied, hoping that the meeting would soon shift back towards the Captain. People like Elaine could just shout and get angry, maybe even storm out. Tarquin didn't know how to do any of those things - part of him wished he could.
  7. List of things that are probably good but people generally haven't seen maybe The Irresponsible Captain Tylor - basically Inspector Gadget/Great Teacher Onizuka if he were an incompetent space captain Watamote - Nerdy loser anime girl remains a nerdy loser and suffers for it JoJo - Homoerotic bodybuilders combat homoerotic vampires using magic powers and homoerotic ghosts Cromartie High School - Delinquent school featuring Freddy, a gorilla and a robot Escaflowne - Anime highschool girl enters Game of Thrones but with robots Mars of Destruction - Simple premise but amazing soundtrack, Beethoven was really on the ball
  8. Hector could have been interesting, his style would be enough to differentiate himself from the other sword users, and could have been a good candidate if Ike had been replaced with another heavier character. Otherwise, not particularly!
  9. I like it for its cohesive and gripping world building and the wide selection of large breasted women I can claim as my bride.
  10. JoJo's generally best watched in chronological order. Parts 1, 3 and 4 are vaguely linked together, and make a lot more sense if you've seen the series before them. You could hypothetically skip 1, but it does provide a good backing. Part 2 is generally unrelated other than a single recurring character, but is good enough to watch on its own.
  11. Azel's unfortunate in that he wields the worst magic type and waddles about as fast as Ardan until promotion. His stats generally work for the most part, and pursuit is definitely worth having. It helps that enemies have butts for res, but he has to wait until chapter 3 until he can have a wind tome. Fire nukes his avoid and AS pretty bad so there will be a lot of times he's not dodging or doubling. He's pretty dandy when he promotes, but realistically that's going to be chapter 4 at the earliest. In short, Azel is severely limited by his awful movement and weapon options for the first half of his existence. Hitting res is pretty cool, but he's left behind early on and requires a lot of investment to get good. If he'd come as a magical cavalier with a less sucky magic type, his usability would probably skyrocket. 2.5/10
  12. Tarquin felt all the eyes in the room focus on him, their curious gazes drilling into his very being. How much could he say? How much should he say? There was no chance that he could simply not answer, and neither Cheryl nor Megumi were there to cover for him. It was the same feeling when he'd found out Cheryl knew of his record. The feeling of vulnerability and betrayal was still relatively fresh in his mind, and he hadn't forgotten it in the slightest. He wasn't entirely sure who to answer, both Dwight and Roxanna were leading him into a conversation he'd have very much preferred to avoid. Considering that they knew the general concept of the protocol, it meant his explanation would be slightly easier. "The Andromeda Protocol is a series of instructions, where an obliged individual is to avoid capture at all costs." Tarquin began, starting with the general principles to calm his own nerves. "This includes but is not limited to situations involving injury to said individual, unfavourable tactical situations, failure of unit escape mechanisms and the possibility of capture by hostile factions. The aim is to remove the obliged individual from combat whilst causing minimal disruption to allied forces." It had been a very formal definition, but there was likely no other way to describe it. There was likely to be a whole plethora of questions that were going to follow it, but Tarquin still had one get-out clause. "These instructions were given outside and above the command of the Heion Riese." Tarquin continued, focusing directly on Roxanna. "Accordingly, any further information requires sufficient authorisation and seniority, which do not apply to yourself, XO. I am unable to provide you any further information." The professor never said that anyone would question his actions, or try to pry into him. Even Tarquin had begun to see how poor his assigned cover story was, nobody was going to believe that a child soldier would be involved in such a complex set of orders. Why did they have to ask him all these questions? He'd come to try and help Nikolai and the captain, but now he was on the spot. Was there really nobody who would support him? Maybe Bruno was wrong after all, maybe he wasn't meant to be with other people.
  13. Those things that you guys asked for happen! Everyone deploys! Chapter 7 - Turn 1 SPREADSHEET Thantes stood his ground, eying up Owen's group carefully. "Men, the ponce with the pink hair is our target." he commanded, pointing his sword at Owen. "Kill the rest of them, but we need that one alive. If we grab him, it'll give us a one up over those freaky twins, and my bastard of a brother too. He might have more men, but you guys are better trained! We'll strike after his saps get wasted!" - "Prince Owen, command me as you see fit." Esclabor affirmed, gripping his axe's handle. "I've made my mistakes, and caused a lot of men to die... but I'm not about to let these savages lay a finger on you." Emily appeared to share a similiar devotion to her superiors. "Boss, I won't let you down." Emily proclaimed, opening her tome hastily. "If you need someone set on fire, just point your finger and I'll torch them good!"
  14. Lex is basically Ardan if he grew wheels with axes, elite and stats. So thinking about it, he's not really much like Ardan at all. He's at his best in chapter 2 where he can Hero Axe people's faces in, but like most of the cast he kinda falls off. He can't really dodge ever but he levels fast and is pretty thwompy. I'd say that the likes of Fin and Cuan are better than him, but Lex is probably better than the other mounted peeps. 7.5/10.
  15. Time to get the ball ROLLING. *Note - author's drawing ability is limited and actually quite bad, quality of content may vary [spoiler=The rest is SCREENSHOTS] NOT THIS AGAIN. I'm sure I'll get this question right one day! Maybe not today though. His memory must be awful if he thinks we're friends. Who knows what I could learn... LIKE THE FACT I HAVE GREEN HAIR. Horace such a CREEP breaking into my room. It can play MINESWEEPER. I bet Horace is the kind of guy who wants to buy cookies after seeing a commerical. All of my friends were playing CoD on their Xboxes whilst I was shaking a stick. Way to make your children afraid of grass. No wonder dad left. Such a STALKER. Having that much sugar in your blood would make anyone hyperactive. Horace's smart idea to not go in the grass is go in the grass. He's as smart as he is SKINNY. This makes me question whether anyone in town has ever left. This seems like a leading question. I liked DIGIMON better. Just kidding, who even likes digimon? Horace such a SUCK UP. Good work Professor Alzheimers. The only grass we'll go into is the stuff Refa gets us. Curses, Horace foiled my escape. The only way Horace could win would be to have a type advantage. What a LOSER. I will literally snap it off if you unzip your pants. Horace such a PREDATOR. Horace so bad, he lost even though I missed a tackle. If there's anything I hate more than Horace, it's saying please and thank you. I would have preferred some DANCING shoes. Or rollerskates. Defensive pokemon, -defense nature. Good work! I don't like how Horace is trying to lure me to a secluded spot. Your first mistake was asking me to lead the way. Blah blah, EDGE LORD. I'll kick you in the pokeballs if you don't shut up. I hope he chokes on an Oddish. I'm pretty sure it hates me for nearly letting a monkey eat it. What is wrong with everyone? He'll have to settle for like 12 entries.
  16. Baby, musically I thought she was the weakest of the group.
  17. He's really slow and immobile, but Ardan can function a lot better than people give him credit for. He really struggles with damage output and has no ways outside of the Hero Sword and Pursuit ring to attack more than once. Still, with the pursuit ring, he actually doubles everything that doesn't use a sword or a wind tome. He's pretty tanky too, but by the time he promotes the generation is over. 2.5/10, including a bonus for being a LOVELY THWOMP.
  18. Alec's more reliable than Noish but his damage output really struggles later on. He can contribute a fair bit early on and if you promote him he can really get work done in Chapter 3. Pursuit is a good skill to have and his speed is passable enough to double anyone except swordfighters. He makes recruiting Ayra slightly less painful and is generally a passable dad for most kids. He also has a really rad turban. 6.5/10. He got the extra 0.5 for his turban.
  19. Hit the Road Noon had rapidly approached, although it had felt like an eternity for Esclabor. Everyone had gathered in front of Farmer Perroy's house, having concluded their various antics. The encounter with Scuttle was still fresh in the memory of the party, the bard's actions had been surreal and perhaps even psychotic. However, she had not been seen since their first evening, something that many were rather grateful for. With fences painted, bears boozed and ghosts chatted with, Magon had been rather eventful. With the sun overhead, and the group reunited, it was time for Owen to continue his journey to Raewald. Farmer Perroy stood at his own front door, ready to open it. "Your friend was lucky, if his wound had been much deeper I wouldn't have been able to do very much." he informed, pulling the door open slowly. "It's best that he avoids anything too strenuous for the time being. Ideally, he should stay put for another week or so, but he was adamant that he continued with you all. The quickest way is to head directly north, you should hit the border in about three days. The tribes around here don't bother us too much, but a group of travellers might just tempt them." Nelon walked through the door slowly, fully equipped in his gear. Bowing his head, Nelon knelt in front of Owen. "Forgive my weakness, Prince Owen. I shall endeavour to aid you however I can until I am able to return to combat." he apologised. "If there is anything you require from me, I shall devote all my strength to it." Both Esclabor, and, peharps surprisingly, Morta seemed the most relieved to see Nelon up and moving. "Prince Owen. If Baron Nelon is unable to enter combat, allow me to do so in his place." Esclabor said firmly. "My own injuries have healed and I'm more than capable of aiding your forces. I'm afraid the bandits took all my equipment, but I am yours to command." Perroy crossed his arms, almost expecting the group to leave relatively soon. "I've cooperated with that butler of yours, Owen. You're all stocked and ready to continue. It doesn't sound like you expected such a detour, anything can happen in unfamiliar lands." Perroy lectured, making sure he held Owen's attention as best he could. "A little place like this doesn't see much of the outside world, but I think it's for the best. I hope you succeed, wherever your journey takes you." Esclabor is available for deployment! Doug leaves the party! - 9th April 812 - Mid afternoon Magon was now several hours behind Owen's group, their journey north had taken them into more hilly plains. The terrain was manageable, but the unfamiliarity of the region remained problematic. There hadn't been any sight of bandit forces, but there were a great deal of places they could be hidden in the area. The Valter sisters flew overhead, scouting out the area for Owen and his group. So far there had been no reports, but the tension in the air remained. "Prince Owen, Lord Dougistan should deliver the report in a few days time. Duke Herman will be interested to hear what has occurred thus far." Sebastian informed, walking alongside Owen. "He may be able to offer some advice regarding Malaphar, or at least make preparations should he show again." "Prince Owen! They're coming from the forest!" Decima called out from above, the trio circling down to the ground quickly. Catching her breath, Decima pointed both to the north as well as the south. "There's two large groups ahead, it looks like they're preparing for an ambush." It appeared Perroy's warning had been correct, Magon appeared to not represent Magonsaete by any means. - Hippnos looked back up at the sky, then across to the fields surrounding his group. "We've been instructed to take out Prince Owen's group, ensure that you take the Prince alive if possible." he announced to his men. "Just don't let Thantes take the credit for it. If we can show our worth, I shall be accepted into his elite inner circle... which will mean very good things for everyone under my command." Chapter 7: Bungling Brothers Objective - Defeat both Hippnos and Thantes Spreadsheet DEPLOY IN THE BLUE ZONE! SELECT 2 NPC's for DEPLOYMENT
  20. Early on he's not terribly reliable but really a lot of your chumps aren't. He's a good candidate for stuff like the pursuit ring because most enemies weigh themselves down horribly. His weapon ranks suck though, but you could slap the Hero Sword on him for lols - which is good because it means he's got more a chance to crit. He's kinda lame after like chapter 4, but to be honest so is everyone but Sigurd. He's a passable parent for a couple of kids too if that helps. 6/10
