  1. Wait, shouldn't you have a second Elysian Whip from a chest in ch.8? Nevertheless, dropping Tate is probably a good decision, especially if Shanna's doing fine. Her growths are quite good, but her base stats (and, same as Shanna, her low Con) don't do her any favours. Like Gonzales, Tate is quite a bit more viable on hard difficulty.

You have a hot anime woman as your avatar, so clearly you must be male! :D [Not trying to mock you, Brand, I make the same mistake all the time ;) ] Est really is cute on that photo and oh my god that's a lot of hair on her head. Is it still all there?
  3. Not continuing that game, I made my point. If you disagree, that's fine, but if you want to make a point, just fucking make it instead of trying to bait me in some kind of self-contradiction with these context-free questions.
  4. He can - Geese and Gonzalez both use Hero Crests to promote into Berserkers. Gonzo gets +5 skill on promotion, by the way, so that might help him to hit stuff once in a while. His Skl growth is absolutely atrocious, though. He's much better on hard mode, thanks to the bonus stats he'll get as a red unit. On normal, they're both rather mediocre, Geese probably being a bit more reliable. You're a bit unlucky, but she has indeed only 30% magic growth. Each of the three healers has some kind of dump stat - Elen's speed (20%), Saul's luck (15%) and Clarine's magic (30% with a rather poor base stat).
  5. The senate is supposed to represent the singular states. The president isn't.
  6. So when was the last time a candidate valued all states equally during campaigning? Sorry, but I find a fair election system (i.e. every vote has the same value) more important than a vague hope that maybe some day the numbers in {insert sure state} are close enough for the candidates to care. Because that's what you're banking on for the current system to be better (in this regard) instead of just moving the problem to a different spot.
  7. At this very moment, rich and influencial people are deliberately misinforming the population about climate change because they value their short-term financial gain higher than the ecosystem, y'know, surviving. I can't imagine that appealing to self-responsibility will work because it sure as hell isn't right now.
  8. Great. So I'll just campaign in the 10 swing states and nothing else. That should give me the majority of the electors. The other states won't change their vote anyway, so why bother?
  9. Yeah, that's my point. I don't see it as a problem that 1 vote out of a few millions isn't much. That I see as mathematics. But the current system not only makes individual votes more or less valuable by default, but it also creates artificial situations in which a few votes for or against one side don't matter, even if they would decide the majority nationwide. Again with the Eclipse example: She stated that her vote wouldn't make a difference because Hawaii is strictly voting Democrats. That wouldn't have been the case if the president would just be elected by national majority.
  10. So what does it say about the game balance that three of your four A-team members are Viera? Although I would have expected a Bangaa in it, too. I guess they're too slow? But I also guess you now have the Master Monk class to fix that. Gotta love when the gameplay matches the narrative. :D Perhaps summoning Satan to lay waste on the battlefield is a tad overkill if you're just trying to win a tournament. No wonder the regular clans hate the judge'd clans.
  11. But it's not cities and villages voting collectively. With the current electoral college, many individual votes are completely meaningless (again: see Eclipse voting for 3rd party because she could be sure beforehand that Clinton would take Hawaii), even if the overall vote is very close. And personally, I find that to be a bigger issue.
  12. OK, to clarify: I do not consider the election to be illegitimate. The rules were how they were and in this particular case they favoured Trump. I just think that they should be changed for future elections as soon as possible, no matter who would gain by that change. (and because I don't intend to bash the American democray as a whole by this, here's an interesting fact about the German electoral system: When electing a new parliament, we have two votes, one for a specific candidate from our region, one for a whole party, the latter being the more important one by far. However, because of how those two votes work, it's a very possible scenario that a party can actually _lose_ seats in parliament by getting additional votes (and vice versa). As far as I can tell, this generally favours the big parties, so even though the constitutional court has pointed out the problem, the legislative hasn't exactly been thrilled about fixing it.)
  13. Nao - Inhale Exhale: "Dieses Video ist in deinem Land nicht verfügbar." So I watched two or three other videos of her music instead. Pleasant music, would listen to her again. Saintseneca - Sleeper Hold: Wouldn't mind listening to them again, either, but to be perfectly honest, that song didn't really seem... outstanding to me, for the lack of a better word. It's a good song, but for me, it seemed to lack something special, to make me remember it. :/
  14. Pretty sure I voiced some misgivings about the american electoral college way before the election, but I sure as hell won't go through 100 pages to find it. I generally don't like that it's a common outcome that the candidate with fewer votes is elected for office. But sure, keep painting the broad strokes. But the current system also means that the votes of many people don't fucking matter. I'll give Eclipse and Hawaii as an example - it was completely irrelevant who she would vote for, except maybe to make A Statement. It's even evident in the candidates' strategy: They completely focus on the swing states, not really caring about the states they'll win/lose in anyway. I don't think that's a good thing, and that is independent of Trump's victory.
  15. Maybe a controversial stance, but I'm totally OK with the amount of retconning FE12 has done. As far as I know, they added Chris (and some less important guys), the assassin subplot, Michalis not dying and something resembling a characterization for the non-plotrelevant characters. Now I will not try and convince you (or myself) that these changes were good, but they did not throw the entire prototype out of the window. I wouldn't mind adjustments of that magnitude at all (as long as they're not as bland as Chris), for example, as Rend Keaven said, the miniscule relevance Hector and Eliwood have in FE6. For someone who has played their story before Roy's (so basically anyone who plays a potential remake), it sure is disappointing that Eliwood's only job is to give Roy command over Pherae's troops and Hector's job is to die as soon as he appears to give Roy command over all of Lycia's troops. Lyn being completely irrelevant after the tutorial and disappearing completely in Roy's story (well, it's technically the other way around - she was only created for the tutorial - but anyway...) is a flaw too, imho. I would rather have these flaws fixed than have a remake that doesn't touch the old script to keep the fanbase quite. Why would I want to play that if nothing of relevance was changed?
  16. It's basically a tried and tested method for autocrats all over the world to systematically destroy any kind of free press. Just imprison anyone who criticizes you - problem solved. You can look what's going on in Turkey right now if you want an example. €: answer to this:
  17. My grandma used to tell the story about her mother scraping out the snowdrops out of the snow so that my father could have flowers on his birthday table on Feb 28th every year. I can't remember a single time we had snow on that particular date, so clearly this proves that global warming is A Thing.
  18. Vendor in chapter 11, so it's not too far away. Chapter 11, by the way, isn't super hard to finish, but (at least on hard mode) it's really difficult to get all the optional treasure. You have to visit all the houses (not so bad) and save all the NPC accompanying the recruitable enemies (much harder). Also, recruit the new Peg Knight with the new Sniper, not with the old Peg Knight. It's much easier that way.
  19. This article might be a good indication of how Germany feels about the election. Honestly, I suspect there will be a LOT of smugness coming up, too, so that people can distract themselves from the fact that racism, nationalism and xenophobia is rising pretty heavily in Germany, too. The AfD (the newest right-wing party here) won't take over the chancellorship for the foreseeable future, but they're at 10-15% in polls, so they're very likely to be voted into parliament next year. But hey, at least we don't have Trump as our president, right? So we're still doing fine, right?! is what I expect the general sentiment to be. We've been very smug when the US voted for Dubya the second time, so this speculation on my part isn't even groundless.
  20. Personally, I would hate a remake that goes full Fates mode in eugenics. But what I could imagine would be small bonuses or alterations in the 2nd gen depending on the supports in Eliwood's story. For example, Wolt's stats could change slightly if Rebecca found a husband in the army; Fir could get a personal weapon if Karla was recuited - stuff like that, but not something like FE4 where the 2nd gen can almost completely be bred in the first half of the game. [i haven't playd FE4, so this assessment may or may not be accurate]
  21. I wanna get drunk right now, but it's not even 9am here. Fuck. Here's to hoping that liberal democracy will survive the next four years.
  22. It's a Killer Bow (left village) vs. a Restore Staff (right village) and yeah, both villages close their gates if you visit either of them. The one in the SW is completely unrelated to this, though. I believe that the Elphin/Bartre route nets you a Energy Ring while Echidna/Lalum gives you an Angelic Robe, fwiw. (plus a bunch of shared and/or less important items) I just remembered: If you go Elphin/Bartre, bring Lot to Ch.10 as well and have him collect the villages. It's his hometown, so he (and Wade if he wasn't dead) gets not only special dialogue, but also way better items out of some houses than anyone else. Don't worry about it too much. Storywise, both Elphin and Lalum will appear anyway (and only Elphin will stay relevant for the rest of the plot), so it's mostly about the different units you can get. And while there are differences, neither route gives you a gamebreaking advantage or disadvantage.
  23. Pretty Girls Make Graves seems like a pretty cool band I haven't heard of until now. I'll definitely check out more of their stuff later. Spinvis is new to me as well, even though the Netherlands are only about 100km west from where I live. Very enjoyable to listen to, I really like the flow of the melody and the instrumental movement around it. I liked most of the other stuff from the last two pages, too (haven't gone through the whole thread ;) ), but those two stood out for me.
