  1. Started with Melee, then came Nintendo Power, which did a little guide for Lyn Mode Chapters 7-10 and Eliwood 11. I got interested, and then come Easter, I got FE7 in a basket, plus the official NP game guide. And I had the Double Dash Bonus Disk too. It's been love ever since. I discovered GFAQs as a kid via relative, back then I thought of it as being helpful first and foremost. It was from there I discovered SF, from which I learned of FE's past, this was sometime pre-RD release, since I still remember that section being in its proto-phase. Discovery of the forums came significantly later, I can't pinpoint when. So burnt out, that twice the game froze over due to lack of heat.
  2. Which should mean Issac is nigh-invincible there, assuming the lighthouse is lit, although that is more to animate if it is- could be a potential on-and-off stage hazard. Which ones would they then pick for a tour? No to the underwater place, since it is underwater. Maybe the half-ice-half-fire world to kill two birds with one stone. The first Mayan/Incan-looking place being the first world in the first game would be feasible. The horror world would be nice, the polluted rusting ship was apparently infamous in the day. And because it is visually distinctive, I'm thinking the wacko place in the sky. Tick-Tock Woods- or whatever the four seasons forest was called, IRRC has a beloved composition attached to it, with seasonal distinctions. Hopefully it could sneak into the soundtrack at least.
  3. Should when the time come we make a separate DLC topic? Or just throw it all in the currently-existing news topic? Cynically assuming this present leak to be real, I'm more focused on DLC at the moment. Not that much interest in the new crew. And a question, if the leak is real and B&K are in, shouldn't they be getting a stage? If so, what would it be? The big green overworld- what was it called- the Isle O' Hags if memory serves me right? Sounds a little boring if childhood memories are anything to go by. What would be a realistic, but interesting, stage pick? I'd ask the same thing for Golden Sun, although one of the Lighthouses seems like the easy bet here. A modern remix of the Saturos Battle Theme should send me into ecstasy BTW (as long as they don't fumble it like they did with BKO's Valedictory Elegy).
  4. Bonus experience is a concept unique to the Tellius games, it can a strategic resource, or a means of favoritism. It can also be an incentive on the battlefield, like but different from rare weapons and items, adding to map side-objectives diversity. But, BEXP did have its issues. In PoR, the infamous "Marcia BEXP dump", or whoever you favor, can break the game pretty easily. RD tweaked BEXP to give 3 stat points per level guaranteed, no more, no less. Given most Beorc have growths exceeding 300 in total, leveling via BEXP, at least until one or two stats are capped, hinders unit growth, but afterwards is equal to or better than it. It allows Haar to fix his Speed issue for instance with the need for a Speedwing. And for Laguz, BEXP just generally just a boon given their sub-300 growths. BEXP can't really work within a game with infinite grinding, like Awakening and Fates Rev & BR, since it makes BEXP seem frivolous. However SoV did have its little group EXP thing, and Golden Apples and certain Sacred Springs gave a finite number of free level ups. I wouldn't mind Golden Apples returning, if not BEXP. One change I would make, is that there would be a soft cap on the maximum level attainable at any time. If you attempt to raise a unit beyond the level of the highest leveled unit at the same tier (because otherwise Jagens would void this for much of the game), you'll see BEXP cost shooting up significantly beyond what it would be otherwise. So if going from 10 to 11 normally costs 125 BEXP, it'd cost 188 or 250, a 50-100% increase, instead. If they brought back Golden Apples, they could work in such a scenario with BEXP, for in such a scenario they'd be best suited for someone presently at the higher end of your levels. And I'd certainly say no to RD's guaranteed three point gains. Add a Fixed Mode (why hasn't this ever returned?) instead. So, would you like to see BEXP return?
  5. Teenagers worry about catching the disease commonly known as "Scales". It is a serious, painful rash which is caused by a virus capable of being spread from a dragon vector to a human being. Since dragons give it and it leaves one's skin quite rough, the vernacular name makes some sense. The issue isn't the rash itself though for teenagers, the problem is the common perception, a myth, is that you got it because you ****** your dragon, which is quite humiliating. Well you can get it that way, but very very few people actually do, more normal forms of contact can cause it to spread as well. In an alternate universe, the most popular bananas are...
  6. Can't say whether Subspace was popular or unpopular for the majority, but to me, it was one-playthrough-to-unlock-everyone deal, mostly. It's a Kirby game modified to be one mode in a fighting game with a roster widely varying in character abilities, which meant it was a crude Kirby game. I liked the lack of actual dialogue, since for some characters it makes absolutely no sense, and it'd just be hard to do without being real weird. Other than fun, I didn't see much point in replaying the mode, even if I did try the boss rush several times.
  7. Mamori standing on Barry's back in The Tunnel Home attire as an Axe Cav when? Or count it as Dagger Armor.
  8. So, no talk about the new item announcement? http://www.siliconera.com/2018/10/27/nintendo-shows-off-new-smash-bros-ultimate-item-that-may-hint-at-a-newcomer/ Is just a placeholder that would've been better served by a question mark? Or is a Golden Sun item? Is it a Floro Sprout, Dimentio? If it was a GS item, then what I'd guess it'd do is that when thrown, if it comes into contact with the ground, it suddenly sprouts into a bunch of tall, spiky briars that deal damage.
  9. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/10/random_collect_saints_not_pocket_monsters_in_the_most_god-like_pokemon_go_clone_yet Unexpected, not exactly original, but I'm sure it's inspired in a different way. May playing it give to those who believe give the ecstasy of St. Teresa. I just hope I can find a Iago walking the Camino. And for anyone who may comment, PLEASE DO NOT EXPRESS SERIOUS AND OFFENSIVE REMARKS FOR OR AGAINST PERSONS AND OR RELIGIONS OR LACK THEREOF! Have to throw that in there I think.
  10. @Rex Glacies Sorry I didn't notice your question sooner. Creature from another dimension, particularly known for its strangeness. A very difficult creature to study as it’s habitat is not of this world. Its name is Gnosis, Greek for "insight" and the root of the term "gnosticism". Although it has nothing to do with gnosticism, and everything with being a little reference to the Gnosis enemies of Xenosaga. Why the reference? Because it is from Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, which Monolith Soft also made at this time (BK was released after Xenosaga Episode I, but before Episode II). Basically, the heroes in BK are en route to the island of Mira (not the same Xenoblade Chronicles X's Mira), which happens to be dimensionally unstable, with the sky around it being a spatial anomaly. Baten Kaitos: Origins even says Mira sometimes fades out of accessibility from the rest of the world, swapping places with the Endmost Bethel (which doesn't have a strong spatial anomaly around it when it's present in the sky). To reach Mira, one passes through the psychedelic Trail of Souls, and as the heroes do, they get knocked out of the "tunnel" into the area around it, a boundary between the BK dimension and another, which is more or less pitch black- The Portal to an Outer Dimension. To get back into the Trail of Souls, they end up having to kill this interdimensional creature and then hop through the portal it was halfway in during the entire battle, which somehow brings them back on track. 159
  11. Oh, the Minotaur. Which, so I heard, was born when King Minos of Crete refused to sacrifice his favorite bull to Poseidon, in response, Poseidon made Minos's wife fall in love with the bull, she got in a cow costume, the bull comes over, and MOOOOOOOOOO! ...later out pops the Minotaur. If we get to the point where we have to insert one-time generic bosses, even memorable-ish ones, then I need Schaeffer. Has a skill that makes him automatically redirect attacks aimed at him to Staff units allies or enemies alike within two spaces. And as his Special, Babyguard- keeps enemy from attacking by dangling a baby in front of self. To contribute to the topic at hand ever so slightly to make my posts seem less off topic, we need more representation of the underrepresented games. I wouldn't be sitting on the sidelines for so long if they weren't underrepped.
  12. I haven't paid any attention to the new Halloween seasonal. *Looks at artwork* Well I guess it's for the ladies? Nonetheless, I'm reminded of Awakening's Berserker attire. Not bad, but at the same time knowing this makes it feel a little lazy. To look to the bright side again, nobody playable in Awakening was a canonical Barbarian/Berserker, so at least the design is being used for something. Also, I keep misreading this topic title as the "Slate of Heroes".
  13. The issue is the SoV DLC costs more than the base game, has two sets of grinding DLC when no game needs more than one, the Overclasses are packaged individually and are frivolous junk due to being absolutely unnecessary and a chore to grind for. This said, Rise of the Deliverance is supposed to be good (never bought it), and the Cipher DLC despite the recycled maps, is good and something of a reverse case in that we got when it was doubtful we would b/c no Cipher card game abroad.
  14. My own opinion of this has actually recently gone up too. Listening to it by itself and not having to deal with trying to keep the OD going when you don't have much of a grasp of the mechanic helps, as does the fact that for some reason, I recall hearing (I can't check at the moment b/c my Wii U is disconnected) that the XCX ingame version loops prematurely. Why? Hearing the lyrics are stylized German as opposed to English is good for me actually, I don't dislike English lyrics, but I prefer those I can't understand, even the meaning is good. It works for quite well for the context of Overdrive. Modern, sleek, the German perhaps adds a certain technological touch. Different from the usual, but certainly not bad. By itself, I'll give it an 8.5/10. Also Sprach Zarathustra, here, skip to 5:10:30 or a few seconds beforehand, or 5:04:49 for the full context, if you're interested, that particular moment is relevant here. It's all the Affinity Missions sans commentary in one video with timestamps in the descriptions. You already saw all the plot on YouTube, right? If you wish to see all the Affinity Missions, they'll be there with the trek between steps cut out so you'll have just the scenes, ignore the attire the player put Elma and Lin and the other girls in *eyerolls*. (It likely won't do a good job of Mia either, since her character stuff happens more in a string of normal missions that are each in a way a little Affinity Mission.) I just happened to find it in case you're interested. As for a song Green Ruins from Rune Factory: Frontier
  15. I can always go back and add more, filling in additional info. I'm wasn't aware of any bad blood between Baldr and Neir, but if it exists, I could see about adding that. I wanted to set up more Crusader group dynamics, and certainly have it so some meet and get to know each other pre-Miracle, but as I haven't defined them all well yet, I wasn't exactly sure how to arrange things. That and I think the approach I went of them splitting up, a logical move, might have gotten in the way. I did a little with Bragi and Neir here, but I do want to do more in the future. As for the names inconsistencies, I'll correct that later. SF hasn't updated its name pages to include all FEH additions, I glimpsed Fjalar on the FEH board, but missed the rest. Might not have happened if they gave me incentive to play. If Heim is aloof and almighty, a god among gods, I wanted someone to be the everyman Crusader, and chose Neir for the task. Using the old FE4 Treasure drawing of the 12 Crusaders, I looked at them and kinda had to settle on Neir for the role. Hezul/Hodr and Dainn (will his name get the mythologically correct extra "n"?) looked too mean. Bragi and Heim are too saintly, Ced looks too mysteriously whimsy. The rest are workable, but I think Neir looked the best for the part. I too took pity on Neir, for his descendants in FE4 being outside of Lex, seem to be some combination of bad and or forgettable. The family had to have an ancestor to redeem them, or to make them look even worse in how far they've fallen.
  16. Not like this would be a problem with Rev, the mode isn't exactly balanced for the higher difficulties (or balanced at all). Honestly even with a little grind, Rev isn't very fun on Lunatic or Hard, so relaxing and engaging in a fantasy team of your desires is perfectly fine. Have your Maiden Heaven. Which gets me thinking of my own monoclass run- Procession of the Greater Vehicle: Descent of the Living Buddhas/Bodhisattvas. All Great Masters. I could use: Great Master of Fate Tantric Consort of the Great Master of Fate Great Master of Trolling Great Master of the Kitsune Great Master of (Not) Perfection Great Master of Mature Immaturity Great Master of Unluckiness Great Master of Not Being Mori Motonari Great Master of the Winds and Awesome Base Stats (this is Rev I'm considering) Great Master of the Heart of the Miko of Cherry Blossoms Great Master of the Womb of the Miko of Cherry Blossoms Great Master of the Heart of the Miko of the Somnolescent Written Word Great Master of the Womb of the Songstress of Waves and the Seed of the Great Master of Trolling Great Master of Cuteness and the Heart of the Samurai of Flowers Great Master of the Seed of Cuteness and the Womb of the Samurai of Flowers I think that is it. What a poor showing, only twelve. Nope, forgot HinataxHana, another two, 14, yay! Or maybe I should do a limited-class run, not just one. I was thinking the Hoshidan Zibatsu Alliance- all Blacksmiths, Merchants, and Mechanists, perhaps in coalition with the underpaid domestic service sector of Nohr so as to have access to Staffs. Basically all the classes that make no sense doing battle. And for a little more fun- no using anyone who uses Ninja for Mechanist.
  17. I see that clearly, only that in practice, there isn't too much difference between Water!Sword and Water!Spear, just some aoe vs. safety. On the other hand Blue Lance, Breath, Dagger, and Tome are all very different in FEH, and we don't have the extra layer of Infantry, Armor, Cavalry, Flier. At most, it's Water!Melee and Water!Ranged, of which you can arguably split Staff off from Rod and Bow in the Ranged grouping since only it has heals.
  18. i've almost gotten my smithy to level 4, I'm up to level 95 for facilities. Once I do, I can forge weapons with no hesitation, since going for 5*s looks like an enormous investment, and will be looonnng in coming if getting to smithy level 4 was so much work. Also, not a fan of how once you enhance a weapon, you better be able to make duplicates and have weapon fodder laying around. I understand why a level 1 weapon has less stats than the level 40 one you sacrificed to make it, but then it makes you delay on making new weapons, since you need to be prepared to not suffer a short-term loss in power. And on that note, room for only 100 weapons in the main inventory is low, they need to increase this. Also just made it through Chapter 5, the story only goes up to Chapter 6 presently right? I'll stop here and once the next event ends, go and do some of the Hard modes. The next event is a raid like the first, with it sounds like another 4* girl to add. The event seems like it'll be Wind enemies, so time to turn up the heat. Besides the prince, I've both the other Sword 4* and the Staff 4* from the Fire pool, and the Bow and Dagger 3*s. I could run a full team of 4*s including a healer with the new girl, that works for me. Wonder what weapon this Melsa will use? Hopefully something not presently innately 4* and or perhaps 5* for Fire. My one Pele will also be very useful from the prior event. If I need to farm more Fire mats for Mana circles, well the first raid also gave me a relatively strong Water team, so I can use that on Standard Brynhildr and Flamehowl Ruins easily. On the silver lining, they made a correction on FEH with Pele in the first event. You could if you grinded enough get enough Peles for a fully unbinded one, which can't be said for any of the first time GHB/TT heroes. Fortunately, the absence of an FE weapon triangle makes shortages in the individual melee weapons not so bad. Provided each element has good healers and some nice ranged options between Rods and Bows, all will be bearable.
  19. Hana (A+ Felicia) Peri (A+ Felicia) Sakura (A+ Elise) Camilla (A+ Elise) Azura (A+ Elise) Anna (DLC) If you didn't mind temporarily fielding a guy, you could use Jakob, Forrest, and Dwyer to get three more Maids. And Leo can give Nyx Maid. Felicia can also give her child Maid. Which should give you: Maidin Maidlotte Maidse Maidfe Maidjat Maidicia Maideri Maidana Maidora Maidmilla Maidzura Maidkura Maidyx Jakob!WifeyMaid- Forrest!WifeyMaid- Dwyer!WifeyMaid- Elise!DaughterMaid- Felicia!DaughterMaid- Maidnna Maideldori I think 16 or 18 is the max deployment slots in Rev, that should just barely work with males giving Ss. Actually there are more, 20. And someone beat me to the punch.
  20. Genealogy is to me better than being condemned to a musical, that filthy casual mockery of the true vocalized drama, the opera. Now Gen 1 could work I guess all in one opera, with some cuts. Opera prologue is FE1's prologue, the Verdanian invasion and the gifting to Sigurd of the Silver Sword and title Holy Knight. Act 1- Sigurd et Deidre: the invasion of Verdane, Sigurd falls in love,, flips through this to Chapter 2 and Seliph's birth- bliss for Sigurd. Act 2 focuses on Arvis, with Sigurd off in the background doing more battle, and Deirdre being kidnapped and presented to Arvis. Act 3 refocuses primarily on Sigurd now in Chapter 5 (but Arvis gets some attention and Aida a soliloquy), the ending is his immolation. Did I have to cut a lot to achieve that? Why yes, I did. Could still tell a cohesive story? Certainly. One simply has to focus in on what they want to emphasize. An Arvis-centric opera that starts immediately after his immolation of Sigurd, and then tells the story of his life from thereon out to his death by Seliph. It begins with dark tragedy and a hint of regret, but then turns to the years of bliss, before the day comes when Loptyr at last has a new host, and embraces his human mother. Then it is tragedy, followed by the old blissful order that remains being gradually eroded away. Arvis now regrets and regrets his actions, and finds his future abilities to act more and more restrained. In his death, he attempts to find the absurdity of redemption. I'm sorry, but when I think American musicals, I just think sentimentally sad or overly happy and silly singsong. And I accidentally got enough of a dosage of them to know I don't like them, Les Miserables signature piece is les miserable, Wicked is ick-ed. This said, I could see side material being made into a musical, or something based on an FE. L'Arachel's adventures with Dozla and Rennac, or the story of Caesar and his unnamed and unseen beloved, or Zihark and his, or Navarre's mystery past, or whatever Owain was doing before joining up up with Chrom and co. in Awakening. Or the little tales of the Thracia 776 characters after the game ends. Many possibilities. I too need an FE ballet, the topic- Macedon's hero Iote, I could use another Spartacus. But Anri's tale shall work too, Artemis's Curse is perfect. Classic ballet must end tragically after all. Act 1- It enters with happy times in Pales, where the young Anri is a lowly knight at court. He is in love with the beautiful Princess Artemis, and she is with him. But this cannot last, the tyranny of Medeus arises, his henchmen overwhelm the stage and Anri is unable to protect her, he is too weak. But lo, the light of Cartas emerges, and saves Artemis, with whom he is taken. Anri having shown himself weak cannot contest Cartas's affections, and Artemis knows this is true. Her heart does not belong to Cartas, but she will give him, the stronger one, the Fire Emblem, the symbol of hope. Anri pleads otherwise, but Artemis for her sake does not want to hear it, and enacts her curse. Act 2- They end their love. Anri departs to become stronger, undergoing Anri's Way and receiving Falchion. Cartas and Artemis are in the meanwhile almost defeated by Medeus himself, but Anri slays the Shadow Dragon with all his might. Cartas commends him, and Artemis touches him once with her scepter, but Anri cannot hold her hand as he did once before. Anri departs for Altea, alone in his castle, he attends not Artemis's wedding to Cartas. As she dances lovelessly with Cartas, Anri visualizes the occasion, and begins to dance himself. The ballerina playing Artemis shifting back and forth from Pales to Altea, from the real Artemis with Cartas to the imagined one of Anri. She ends back in Pales, turning her back with sad thoughts of Anri, and Anri, ending his dance, collapses, dead of a broken heart.
  21. Start-stop opening, a bit questionable. Jpop lyrics, they start rather, shall I say masculine for a female Japanese voice, not sure how accurate that assessment is, but it adds a perhaps gritty, serious note to it that fits with the rest of the music. Overall a slower piece, suited it sounds for a real struggle, perhaps even with a hint of revenge (but judging from the thumbnail artwork, I doubt that would be a thing with this). Without understanding the proper context, I think I could give it a 7/10. Dungeon 11-15F from Etrian Odyssey V.
  22. Okay, returning to my Leif and Lifis request, if anyone were to take up this my third nightmare to you all, to cut to the chase, can be summarized as follows: Lifis sitting on the ground to the right, looking up to left at Leif. He is wearing only swim trunks/a bikini bottom, either of which would be recolored white. His feet covered by sandals, because bare feet in FEH don't exist and it doesn't really matter here. He is looking a little befuddled. Leif in Lifis's clothes to the left, with an aggressive/victorious face. In a combative and defensive-ish stance (crouching a bit I'm thinking would convey some of this, with reverse grip), facing the right, weapon being wielded is Iron Daggers. Normal hairdo. Dungeon backdrop optional. This will be the artwork whose coloration and overall design will be used for Lifis's clothes and hair: Looking at clothing parts: Pants- Lifis's pants aren't puffy, but they aren't as tight as is usually the case for FE. Lewyn's sprite has puffy pants, they will do if recolored, I can always assume Leif is a little shorter than Lifis. Belts- Lifis needs two-three belts, and they kinda look like sashes. Or its sashes with a belt over them. Considering some options, including regular Hector and Karel, after a short look, Ares might fit the bill the best, with a sash under a belt. Just erase the bit of clothes around it. Linus is yet another choice. Shirt Sleeves- Rolled up sleeves, a quick physical look and some thinking makes me think Donnel is the only option here. Shirt Body- I was looking for a simple and puffy shirt. Not finding one, Donnel's shirt seems the simplest, so this will do. Delete the divide into lighter and darker blues when recoloring, make it one seamless shade of that yellow. Neck-Pants Sash Thingy- I have no idea what this is supposed to be, although logically, it looks like Lifis could snap his neck with that. Ignoring the impracticality, it looks like those brown gold sash-like pieces on Merric. Not sure where they go on his sprite, but turn them 180 degrees, and once repainted, they could work. Shoes- Lifis doesn't wear boots, most people I notice in FEH like boots. I too notice the little ribbon ties and black seemingly wrappings socks. A not totally thorough look doesn't turn up anything exactly like this, but I will settle with Gordin's shoes, although wipe away a little of the top of them and make it black to pseudo-include the socks, if it doesn't look bad. Gloves- I think I'll have to do without the collars, but I can still have them with the fingers uncovered, thanks Lon'qu! Hair- Lifis needs his hair to be recognizable in this scenario as himself, it's the hair that makes the man when his clothes have been captured. Hinata's head might be an option, the hair cleanly hanging past the front of the ears looks right, if in need of being a little longer, Julius might have the extensions to layer on top if thinned a little. Canas, Raigh, Gordin, and Merric are other potential options I see, with edits as appropriate to align with the above hairdo. This would mean long thin hair in front of the ears, an even and flat top, and a mostly short cut in the middle that exposes most of the forehead. I leave this to the spriter's discretion to decide which is best. That should be sufficient detail. Hopefully the parts and everything else are all well thought out on my part.
