Notice how Feh is right there, watching.

I can't tell if she's also happy for them, disappointed in their poor timing, or nervous for their upcoming match (especially poor Azura with that Sapphire Lance). Or perhaps she's more of a Xander/Reinhardt kind of bird, so she's just waiting and hoping for this relationship to end in shambles so her own dreams can become a reality. Her poker face is impeccable.

He could be a debuffer/green melee wall for Arena Assault. For Arena use, I would go with Brave Sword and Death Blow.

[+Atk, -Res] is allows her to get the most kills. She can run [Brave Lance, Escutcheon/Lune, Life and Death/Swift Sparrow/Fury, Lancebreaker]. You can also just stick with her Ridersbane and use her as a red mage cavalry counter, although the only one she is countering is Leo and he is not too common.

+Res is good, but her -Atk makes her Attack so low that she fails to kill a lot of reds even with Sapphire Lance.

You can maybe give Ridersbane to one of your less useful Lance users so they can act as a cavalry counter for Arena Assault.\

Luckily I don't have as many units wanting a Brave Sword compared to a Brave Lance, so he'll be pretty high on the list to inherit one once I get some spare fodder for it.

I kinda figured that would be the best boon/bane. I just wish she at least wasn't either -Res or -Atk, since one is her main stat gimmick and the other is required to even do anything decent. At least I can wait to promote her in case I get a slightly better one.

I'll hold on to them for now then, in case I think of a good home for Ridersbane. Thanks again for the help; I have way too many units that I want to make decent, and too little time or fodder to make most of them a reality, but the help is very much appreciated.

  3. And that's the Distant Def 1 seal collected, just before I call it a day. The thought that I could clean out this Tempest Trial within the next day or two is a very nice and motivating thought indeed. Though I wonder what kinds of scores the top 1,000 will have by the end of this, especially compared to people like me, who will most definitely stop at 50,000 points.

  4. Spoiler

Listen, guys, I'm very happy for you, but could this maybe wait until another time? We're about to kill Hector, like, as soon as you're done with all this.

Anyway, while those two do their thing, I've also started a support between Eirika and Lilina. It might change if I get someone else who can use a -blade tome (or bother raising up Nino), but for now, Lilina's gonna be hanging out with someone who truly appreciates her for her Rauðrblade+ personality.

  5. Alright, so I'm pretty sure this game wants me to use Seth, considering how many times I've pulled him in just the past few days. Just got a +Def/-Spd 4-star, which seems decent enough from what I can tell. What kind of skills would he want? If I'm going to keep getting him, I might as well have him do something useful.

Edit: Also, I've now pulled three 4-star Mathildas, which gives me a few questions. One Mathilda is +Atk/-Res, and the others are -Atk with +Def and +Res. The first question is, which of these should I keep? Mathilda would be quite magically tanky with more resistance, but the cost to her attack would be steep. The second is, what's a good weapon and build for her? Like with Seth, if I keep getting her, I may as well use her.

Lastly, are there any other units that could benefit from any of her skills, especially at their 4-star level? My immediate thought would be archers, but I rarely if ever run into -raven users, especially with Triangle Adept. I don't run any archers on my arena team right now anyway, and I could just use someone with WTA in Arena Assault. I guess I'm mostly asking if there's anyone that would like a Ridersbane over another lance. If not, I'd be happy to merge them for the stat boosts and lower promotion cost.

  6. Do I need to start a Seth counter? Why not. Seth counter: 4. Three 4-stars (including one from this summon), and one 5-star. None have been 5-star focus units, although this 4-star was from the BHB banner. He's +Def/-Spd, and the fact that I could tell that from a glance at his stats without checking online is honestly scaring me. I also got a 3-star Laslow. +Atk/-Res, which is actually amazing, and I might keep this one and use my others for Axebreaker fodder. Worth noting is that all three of my Laslows are +Atk, and the two I had before were both -Def, though at different rarities. I feel like I should be at least somewhat upset at these results, but I'm too confused to process much else.

  7. I'm still hoping for Altena to be added as a lance wyvern with her legendary weapon, preferably bringing Leif with her. Although if they really want to go all-out, then they should definitely add the true legendary duo of Eda and Dean (not Deen, though having it be Eda and Deen instead would be hilarious). It's not like they haven't already added a brother and sister from Thracia that have the exact same weapon and movement type. Jill and Haar would be cool too, although they could also be made into axe fliers pretty easily.

I can't imagine them giving the BK anything but Alondite.

I was less unsure about the sword part, and more toward the armor part. I think it would only make sense if he is a sword armor, but since the Quick Hero Battle didn't reveal his or Nephenee's exact unit types (although flier and cavalier are probably unlikely), I'm remaining open to the possibility that he could be made infantry. But again, being an armor unit seems much more likely, for sure.

    Odd, not Roy/Wolt?

So, when the Black Knight and Nephenee get added, any plans for them? DonnelxNeph pops readily into my head. As does the Black Knight & Camus the Sable (Black Knight in Japanese), until Ares is added at least. Once Ares shows up, which Black Knight gets the curb in this love triangle and which two become the FE celebrity duo known as Doubly Dark I cannot yet say.

Black Knight/Zephiel, but only if BK is indeed a sword armor. For both of them being heavily armored mostly-antagonists, their personalities are incredibly different if I remember right, and that mix of striking similarity and stark contrast is intriguing to me. Plus I might put BK on my armor team, and Zephiel's a mainstay there currently. Although, speaking of Zephiel, Zephiel/Michalis could make for an interesting couple...

Oboro/Nephenee could have potential. I imagine their friendship would begin with Oboro trying to forcibly teach Nephenee about fashion and etiquette, but as their bond grows stronger, they realize that true beauty lies inside their hearts, not their fabric. And they both apparently make faces that scare children and others, so that could be a fun conversation starter.

  10. It feels so weird to be over halfway to the last "main" reward after less than a day, and after only using a single stamina pot to boot. I hope these mini Tempest Trials continue, they're a lot of fun and feel a lot less intimidating to earn everything. A team of Eliwood/Azura/Julia/someone to train has been working well so far, though once I get Xander to the next Hero Merit reward, I may just go back to Masked Marth for the healing and good killing potential. Especially since I'm so close to that 15,000 5-star Masked Marth (12,214 currently), then I could try her out as a +2.

You are welcome. I hope you will succeed in your terribly difficult mission, good luck!

Another interesting tool if you want to know what would happen if you are about to invest X orbs:

Thanks! There's not a lot I really want from the current banners, but I'm terrible at saving my orbs when I have a pity rate in a banner, so I figured I may as well weigh the options I have now and pray to finally get a Katarina or someone similar.

Ooo, that could be fun to mess with. I have pity rates in both Brave Heroes and BHB but have all the focus reds from both, so I think I'll use this to see which one might give me the best but still probably similarly low chances.

  12. If I'm (foolishly) hoping for a non-Focus 5-star, is there any kind of benefit to pulling on a banner with no Focus in that color over one that does? Let's say I wanted to get a 5-star red unit, and for the sake of the example, any 5-star red would be desirable. Is there a noticeably better chance for a random 5-star on the Threaten Defense banner, which has no red Focus, over the BHB banner or Tempest Trial banner, which each have two? Obviously it'll be more likely to get Eirika or Seth on the BHB banner and Lyn or Eliwood on the Tempest Trial banner, but I'm not sure exactly how much their presence affects the possibility of getting someone else. Also assuming a base or otherwise low pity rate, since I don't have the orbs or money right now to keep pulling until I get something I want anyway.

Celica should keep her own tome. Ragnarok allows her to be a Blade mage for one turn without being supported. You can also give Celica either Life and Death and Renewal for less support requirements, or Life and Death/Fury and Desperation so she can two hit knock out most units without fearing for counter attacks.

I would give Rauðrblade to Katarina since Owls are a bit restrictive in my opinion.

I was less sure about Celica because of Ragnarok, but I'm good with keeping a unit with their base weapon if it works well. I'll probably go for Desperation, or at least I will whenever I get her.

Sounds perfect then, thanks. I may just give up on summoning Ninian and start pulling for reds on some banner, just on the very slim chance that I could give someone this Tharja. Especially since she was the one who killed my pity rate in the first place...

  14. After all the daily orbs and one run of Tempest Trial, I had about 22 orbs. First session had two blue orbs: the first was a 4-star +Res/-HP Est, and the second was a 3-star +Spd/-HP Sully. Not terrible, but I already have better boons/banes for both, and neither give the best skills (Sully may have Swordbreaker, but 2,000 feathers for the second level is a bit much). That left me with 13 orbs, so I decided to do a few more runs of Tempest Trial to get up to 17 orbs, in case there would be four blue orbs. There was three, so I guess it was a waste of time. Opened the first orb, and it's...

5-star Reinhardt??? Okay then, not anything close to what I was expecting (or hoping). +Def/-HP, so a far cry from my 5-star +1 +Atk/-Spd that I currently have. I... guess he'll be Goad Cavalry fodder. That felt weird to even type out.

Next two orbs were less exciting, with a 4-star +Atk/-Spd Donnel and 4-star +Res/-Atk Oboro. Donnel's good I guess, but I'd rather use him as fodder. Well, I have enough to open one more orb, both choices red. I could back out now and save what I have left, but since my pity rate is now broken, I may as well see if that 4% pity rate got me anything besides Reinhardt. Let's see...

...5-star Tharja??? And she's +Spd/-Res??? How have I pulled two off-focus 5-star Tharjas in this game??? I don't even like her! Where's Celica and Katarina?!?

Sorry about that. This was not how I expected my experience with this banner to go, but at least I got... something out of it.

  15. Well, I broke down and bought 75 orbs, bringing me up to 81 to try for Ninian again. As for how well it turned out... let's just say I won't be lacking in Darting Blow 3 fodder for a while, yet my Fortify Dragon supply is still running on empty. Let's go over some highlights:

    Spoiler
    • Exactly one-fifth of my summons (four out of twenty orbs) were Florina. These include: 3-star +Def/-Res, 3-star +Atk/-Res, 4-star +Def/-Res, and 4-star +Def/-Atk. All of these are in addition to my current 4-star level 40 +Def/-HP, and another 3-star that's +Res/-Def. I'd like to build a Florina someday, but none of these are particularly grand, except for maybe the +Res/-Def 3-star.
    • Four sessions gave me no blue orbs at all, so I went with colorless when I could to avoid a different focus, and red the two times it was just reds and greens. These orbs held a 3-star +HP/-Def Palla (fodder, basically), a 3-star +Atk/-Res Lissa (really putting those points where they matter), a 4-star +Def/-HP Serra (surely no physical unit can harm her now), and a +Spd/-Atk Selena (frankly awful, but I appreciate the Reposition fodder).
    • Gwendolyn, Oboro, and Lukas all appeared with alright boons/banes (+Res/-Spd, +Atk/-HP, and +HP/-Res, respectively). I already have a +Atk Lukas at 5-stars, so I might just send him home for feathers, but the others may actually be kept to replace my current versions of them.
    • I got two 4-star Mathildas, adding to the one I had previously. I was hoping one would be a bit better than my current +Atk/-Res version (mostly just with a different bane)... but they're both -Atk. +Res and +Def, in order of acquisition. +Res gives her some very respectable magical bulk, but I'm not sure that it's worth losing 6 points in attack.
    • I did get two decent fodder units, one of which I was actually really hoping for: Odin and Subaki. Neither one has great boons/banes, but the most important thing is that Subaki is my first version of him at 4-star, so he can give Quick Riposte 2 to Xander without a feather investment.

I've got 11 orbs left now, with a 3.75% pity rate that should go to 4% with one more poor summon. As soon as I get tomorrow's orbs, and probably some from the Tempest Trial... I will return.

I would use Selena for Triangle Adept 2 since she can pass Reposition at the same as well, and she is available as a 3*. Although if you have more Cordelias than Selanas, then Cordelia is technically more disposable.

I do not think Triangle Adept 3 is necessary for Arena Assault, although Fir might need all the help she can get. However, I would prioritize better units for Triangle Adept 3, but if you have spare Roys down the line, then you might as well free up some Barracks space.

I have precisely one Cordelia and one Selena (I did the same Reposition/TA2 thing for normal Female Corrin), but Selena was one of the free units recently, so I think it may be better to keep her around. And yeah, that's the main reason why Fir has fallen lower on my priority list lately. She really needs the help in order to become decent, but there are already-good units that could be even better with those same skills. She has personal bias in her favor, but others have bias plus more actual merits and potential. Someday though, I will make her that decent unit that I know she can be.

  17. 2 hours ago, XRay said:

Do you have spare Cherches? She offers Attack +3 as well, but she does not have other super important skills to pass around. Gordin can pass around Brave Bow too, so you might want to keep him for a little longer if you have an archer you want to give regular Brave Bow to. Gordin himself is okay in Arena Assault, although I only use him against fliers and sometimes squishy mages.

Fir can try using Triangle Adept 2 and Threaten Defense, so she can deal more damage the next turn.

Unfortunately, I do not. I have a 3-star Cherche with +Atk that I plan to promote, and a 4-star +1 with +Def that already has some SI that will probably be merged into the +Atk one. I do have another Gordin though, and I've already passed a Brave Bow to a few archers that can get decent use out of it, including Bride Cordelia.

I do have a regular Cordelia for Triangle Adept 2, but since Roy has TA3 at 4-stars and I'm hoping to go back to pulling for reds if I get a Ninian soon on the Tempest banner, I might wait in case I get him; then I could give Cordelia's TA2 to someone along with a Brave Lance. The only other Roy I had, I already used to give TA3 to my +Def/-Spd Eirika, which hopefully I don't end up regretting. I do have a +HP/-Spd Peri that could give Threaten Defense, at least.

Turn count be darned, I always do that when I play GBA.  Grinding supports made me think of FE6's terrible support growth rates for some reason.

Was there a jealousy mechanic in one of the games, or am I imagining that?  I can imagine all the Cecilias fighting over which one of them Leo loves most.

That was Genealogy that had the jealousy mechanic. Whichever character has a higher priority in their support list, they would take the points from anyone else that was close enough, I think within a two-space area. Things might get a bit more awkward if the same person is taking points away from herself, though.

Also, not sure if it's been brought up yet, but Chain Challenges are far easier to use for building supports. Doing one 6 map Lunatic Paralogue that I hadn't completed yet brought two pairs up from nothing to B rank. I did a 10 map Chain Challenge on Normal as well, this time one that I had already completed, and it brought another pair from just before B rank all the way to A rank right at the end. I did care more about positioning my units close to each other on the Normal one, but the actual amount gained per battle must have been the same.

  19. 2 minutes ago, XRay said:

If you have regular Brave Weapon fodder, there is no reason not to slap normal Brave Weapons on to every good unit you plan to use in Arena Assault. If you run out of Braves, another option is to use Gem Weapons/Triangle Adept and Breaker/Quick Riposte, but that will restrict the unit to counter one color. For good units like Catria, I prefer to give them Brave builds since they can actually do more than just counter one color. For units like Henry and Fir, I would give them a Gem Weapon/Raven/Triangle Adept build since they are not very good at doing other stuff.

I personally prefer Death Blow, but Fury is fine as well. If you are going to use her primarily for Arena Assault, you can also build her cheaply with just regular Brave Lance, Attack +3, and Breaker 1.

I have enough Donnels just sitting around doing nothing, so I'm good with killing him off until I manage to get another 5-star Cordelia, or if I feel bored enough to 5-star either of them myself. I'm actually low on Death Blow and Fury fodder right now, so I might stick with killing the one Gordin I have with a bad boon/bane for his Attack +3. Lancebreaker 3 shouldn't be a problem, although I may wait in case we get that free 4-star Narcian from the Twitter thing. Thanks for the help!

Heh, Fir is another character I'd like to make usable someday with SI, but she's become lower on my list of priorities lately. I especially regret 5-starring her as early as I did, before I understood boons/banes and before SI was even a thing. She's +Spd, so hitting 42 speed with her base A skill is nice, but she doesn't seem to benefit much from it with the rest of her base set.

  20. Spoiler

    XabUOZF.jpg

Finally took down the last two Lunatic Paralogue Chain Challenges! Managed it in one team, too. I'm continuously reminded why I should 5-star Xander and work on his skills, but even just Bonfire and Fortress Defense 2 have been helping a ton. And that's 6 more orbs to sink into trying and failing to get Ninian.

I would save the neutral Catria for Grand Hero Battles. She was a free unit once so they may use her in strategy videos. It saves a lot of stamina potions to just copy the videos. If you do not care for or need help in Grand Hero Battles, then I would merge her or inherit her for Killer Lance and Luna.

I would use [+Spd, -HP] as your primary Catria, and I would give her Fury and Lancebreaker. Her default Killer Lance is fine. I am not sure why you want to handicap her when Brave build is her best set and gives her more kills. I do not see how differentiation helps Catria. You also do not need to give her Brave Lance+ since a regular Brave Lance is good enough for Arena Assault and it saves so much time.

For Marth, Fortress Defense sounds good.

Yeah, that's how I got my current Neutral one. I do copy those kinds of videos, but I've been getting more comfortable with building off of them with my own different units, so I may keep her around until I find a good use for her skills.

It's mostly just on principle of not making four of my fliers be Brave Lance+ users, especially because +Atk Hinoka is a mainstay on my flier team and comes prepackaged with it. If a Brave build is that good for her though, then I am okay with working on that as well. I can always sacrifice one of my non-neutral Donnels until I get a Brave Lance+ user to donate. Are Fury and Lancebreaker still recommended for her Brave build?

Cool, glad I have something to use another of my 4-star Seths for. Might as well have a defensive Falchion healer as an alternative to my offensive Masked Marth healer.

  22. What would be good skills for a Neutral or +Spd/-HP Catria (currently have one of both, not sure which to keep) and a +Def/-HP Marth? I thought about a possible Falchion Healer set for Marth now that I have a spare Fae, and since he's +Def, maybe Fortress Def to go all-in on the defensive support role? I'm even less sure about Catria; I'd rather stay away from a Brave Lance build, as I'd like to differentiate her from my +Atk Hinoka, +Atk Cordelia, and +Atk Est (who has dibs on the next Brave Lance+ anyway). I have immediate access to Silver Lance+ and Sapphire Lance+, if either of those would be good, or just her default Killer Lance+.
