  1. I think a lot of the Thracia defenders covered a lot of what I would point out, but there was one of two extra things to add Not only is it rather unlikely to even be in this situation, but even then it still wouldn't necessarily be a softlock. Thrones and Gates like that seize point restore a units status condition, so getting Leif onto the seize point via rescue and drop would wake him up and let him seize. Or you could use a rewarp and a warp staff to save them, both of which are available to be stolen/captured from that very map... And I find this complaint very similar to if someone complained that the arena wastes so much time if you grind for money. It is a common trap that people can fall into of trying to capture way too much gear. Funny, as Kaga games are the ones I feel you really, really shouldn't hoard in. When that mad lad gives you some powerful shit, he intends you to use them. I almost commented on how the silly complaints tend to drown out far more valid critiques, and this is definitely one of them. Given the kind of things you get in the x chapters they really shouldn't be optional like that. Way too many of your healers, magic units, thieves, and crusader scrolls are tied to those x chapters, they are a vast majority of the Fog of War maps... Damn, that must have been an intense gaming session. Only Pelleas and Lehran are able to use dark magic, and both can only be recruited on a second playthrough. Bringing along some (or at least one) of the Royal Laguz like Nailah is always a good idea, as they are real combat beasts, and you need a few of those for things like Dheginsea That was a lot more romantic than I expected from these two. Lol, letting this monster wield a light tome really gives away the lie about light magic being for the "good" guys. Lol, you brought Heather into the tower. You really had fun with this team. That really was the worst, and most hamfisted retcon of Path of Radiance in this game. You made things so much harder on yourself by being aggressive. The tower is really stupid, in that the differently patterned tiles are actually different terrain, and the two tiles Ike and the BK start on are some nonsense tiles that give +10 defense for unknown reasons, so if you had waited for him to come to you, instead of going to attack him yourself it would have been far easier... It is just a normal SS sword. I let Mist use it on my all SS rank weapons in the tower run because it was funny. Yeah, IS really went out of their way to make a sweet romance like this a little creepy with that addition. Oh wow, Mia is a lot more receptive to Heather's charms than I remember Nephene being on my first RD run...god I feel old, I was so young back then, and Radiant Dawn brand new... Time for me to drop the uncensored funny Oliver battle quote I guess I can add a few others that are amusing Add to that the funniest one from his join chapter And that is all before getting to his multiple very specific supports, which can be really gay...for example I didn't think she would ever make it here. Well done, but alas the game is too busy sucking off Ike to let you have such a cool ending. ...Big Oofs, another fallen Heron, and right at the very end. The fact that it has to be Ike is very stupid, and pointless. They hated GuardianSing because ~ told them the truth. Have fun. I get the funny feeling you will end up liking Thracia's story better, but Genealogy of the Holy War is listed as my fav for a reason. Dune is such a hero, rising up from near insignificance, being the best at defeating a deadly nether dragon, and then into the man that can prevent the terrifying reality of Lyttia inheriting a throne. The next DLC adds another apple dragon? I love that far more than I should.
  2. Oh wow, you actually did the whole tower in one sitting huh. I guess we will all have to wait for your thoughts on it.
  3. Complaints about Thracia are obnoxious, because they are almost always made from extreme ignorance, and it forces the defenders to bend over backwards to accommodate that ignorance. Take this memetic formatted image for example, while warp staff uses often play a pivotal role in Thracia strategy in the mid to late game (and you can get enough of them for that to be viable), full on warp skipping is rather rare, and I don't even think its even physically possible to warp skip half the chapters (unless you are just OK letting your entire deployed army be capture multiple chapters in a row, and a lot of chapters have a minimum deployment limit to keep people from cheesing that...). The game does have a lot of secrets, obscure side objective, difficult recruitment (including the most difficult recruitment in the series), and little tricks people have figured out to make things easier, plus it has no mercy for those that don't get how Thracia's mechanics works, that playing your first run or two with a guide is suggested. In the end its one of the funnest games to replay, as the more you get how Thracia works, the more fun it is to play, and its quirks allow for some wild things that other games are too afraid to let the player have, or face.
  4. Good luck. If Alcryst fails to crit, hopefully that armor can finish things
  5. Wow, you have the absolute worst luck in these games huh. Huh, I distinctly remember getting something minor for keeping them alive, I think it was one of those growth rate boosting items that come way too late in this game, but it might be tied to other events on the map... There really should have been. Not having the costumes in battle was just plain stupid of IS. Fates accessories show up in battle, why couldn't the customization of Engage reach the same level? Sweet, plan on cosplaying as her for some event or just to show off in the forums The magic of a good video essay. I saved all the civilians with just my ground troops on my first run. All of my fliers were focused on keeping both Calliera and her suicidal bearded boy alive through that map. Most of it was just creative pathing around enemy ranges, but the last little section was rather obnoxious with status staves really crippling my small force fast enough to avoid enemies, and having to make a formation with creatively unequipped tanky units to hold things off for me to squeeze a powerful enough unit (that was awake...) to kill that bastard executioner (I want to say it was Merida that had the honors, but it has been a while). That is some interesting pay off for killing those two in the earlier map. Also interesting that these are returning characters in VS2 apparently. I wonder if that will be made more consistent in the updated version of VS1 I heard vague things about being in the works... She didn't treat her children much worse than Lyttia treated her love interest A dark look at Lyttia's future...
  6. Rather horny today I see 😛 Side note, Bertram has a battle quote with Elincia back in Path of Radiance, it doesn't reveal much, but that they have one at all is a little bit of foreshadowing. Lol, they definitely did, but I like your gumption in trying
  7. I think it is just showing how much a difference using the fliers makes here, as only fliers and thieves can really make it in time to help out Siegfried, and he needs just a little help to make his trek really reliable.
  8. I have mainly ironmanned the game, and even if I didn't, I wouldn't turn-wheel the RNG much, so that skill is far less useful for how I play. Plus I am trying to think of what staves are so rare that this skill would feel worth it for, and the only one I can come up with is Nodus, which I have never grinded enough money to get any way. Sure she can staff and fly, but so can Ivy, and by being a flier she loses the ability to chain guard that a lot of healers get. They give you a fairly robust opportunity to grind up underleveled units in the prep chapter for the split to help fix that problem for you... Athol may look stary eyed at Zade, but Zade was never into it. Its like people trying to ship Aimee and Ike, but Zade is obliged not to tell her to fuck off to her face. Perhaps this is changed in VS2, still haven't gotten around to it yet. Oops. Did you at least take the opportunity to commit the war crimes on the Shyft chapter (which also prevents her recruitment)? That is going to make the desert evens much tougher. Oh my, that was an interesting path to go with her. The horse option kind of feels like a promotion for her base class, it just doesn't reset her levels for some reason. Its one of the shorter chapters in Vestaria Saga, even when you milk all the experience it offers to you. You don't even need to do that, simply playing through 14x usually gets you more S drinks than you reasonably need, the "just arena grind" element is for people that hate the mechanic unreasonably. ...Chapter 15-x isn't optional, you can just end it when you feel you are ready for the split. That is a bit different from the Awakeneing and Sacred Stones examples. This has simply never been my experience with the chapter. I have been looking back on my VS1 ironman LP, and I note that I am having Siegfried wait around on top of the chest for a few turns, that way I have more time to reposition my flier before the demons are spawned by the event. It should be noted that one of those fliers was a 3 str Ma'aya, and one of my fliers was already dead before the chapter started... Huh, I remember it just being thieves and axie boys from those caves. You must really hate when fire emblem games give you multiple deployment slots, where you are forced to field extra units, or just nor fielding units in all those burdensome slots. I do partially disagree with this framing, as the mechanic adds a bit of player choice into it with how you can have units hold back to keep below their fatigue threshold, and then absolutely let loose on the chapter after, as massively over fatiguing is no greater penalty, plus you can chose when to give unts breaks to reset their stamina, not to mention the choice of when to use S drinks. Really its just a new resource to manage and use. The Warrior's spinoff? I hope I didn't just forget about it from 3 Houses.
  9. Very true, Lyttia is a little monster, and she doesn't actually learn her lesson. If she wasn't literally the game's dancer, I would bench the little monster out of spite (like Hortensia). Baffling, the fliers and their Doyenne are fantastic. That flier exclusive brave 1-2 lance became so vital to innumerable portions of the game that I have no idea what your playthrough might have even looked like, they are almost always my most repaired weapons in the game... Honestly, I think Athol x Zade being a terrible idea for all involved is a bit intentional.
  10. That Goliath class is so funny. I think you can still regular promote him if you want, but he losses that monstrous HP boost.
  11. Those little guys are down right adorable. The joke kind of saddens me because it is too accurate to how those kind of relationships are treated in the endings of a lot of these games. I do love his boss quote with the penultimate boss of the game. Heck I will put a censored version of the part I like in the spoiler box just below, if you are curious This update feels like a bit of a downer. That is a really charming little story. It is a part of the funny anachronism of the Byzantine Empire, as they would have simply called themselves Romans. As long as you send the fliers north to help out, it ends up fairly easy. That part of the chapter I generally found to be the easy part of that event, its the hell spawn in the center that always worried me more. I also like to send my thief north around the same time, so the fliers can partially cover his retreat if they need to. Side note, I hope you try and get Haldyn's talk with his sister, or perhaps make her kill him (I can't remember if there is anything preventing that or not).
  12. It is really baffling that we only ever see one parent from each of the kingdoms... No chance at all. ...it worries me that smell came up in a conversation. Are you sure it isn't a bit... Isn't that the truth. Even in easy games like Sacred Stones, the only maps you hear people talk about as difficult are the fog of war ones. Funny, last time I baited them before they started moving on their own, so it came as a bit of a surprise to me that they move on their own. I was more curious for the impact on the post battle exploration, as there are NPCs that correspond to the villages (I think they even pass off the loot to you if the village survived, but were never visited). Yeah, I blame the longbow sniper for forcing me into the positions, but it was the crit wolves from the darkness that actually killed Panette on my first ironman. I guess Draug can't carry you on this map. Heh, desrcibing things like a MOBA is way too accurate for this chapter Wow, Roshea has very feminine FEH art. I guess I never noticed the old art, which I guess makes sense for those that aren't in FEH yet. Also I don't know enough sportball to get that joke. Man the old art for Wendell is rather iconic. Huh, that is a crafty addition to this map. Far better safe than sorry, especially in the case of a linked ironman. I ended up just doing the next real chapter, and thus I will be reaching the checkpoint at the end of this. Phew, that was a long one, but that is the checkpoint reached.
  13. And failing that low odds roll is not like you claimed before. Luck is an inherent problem with both of these skills, and that is far worse for Sol than it is for Luna.
  14. I think Lenticular did a good job explaining a simple way you can plan around a proc skill: If you were never going to die, even if Sol didn't proc, what is it even doing for you? I am sure you can contrive some very specific situations where it does, but most of Sol's value is when you have a risk of death.
  15. This I disagree with, as knocking an enemy to 50% means you to need an attack just as good as the one you just used to finish it, while an enemy that was dropped down 75% means you can use much weaker attacks to finish it, which lets you get the most out of your weaker units (or perhaps lets you use more reliable attacks, or let a unit that gets their damage through double attacking avoid the counter, etc.). This logic only really holds if you are one on one like in Pokemon or something. They also might be useless because Sol tends to heal less than a hit's worth of damage, and when the calculation is often half the damage you dealt, that seems like a likely assumption. Edit: I also wanted to add that ending a map with 10 HP isn't more useful than ending it with 1 HP. The HP you gain is only useful if you intend to risk losing that HP. This I do rather agree with though, as I find Sol tends to be far better if you have found a way to make the game rather easy. I see this as more in favor of Luna.
  16. Luna is almost always better for one simple reason, Luna is something you can include in your strategies because failing to proc Luna is a minor setback, while failing to proc Sol is a dead character. Luna is lower risk, and higher reward than Sol is. The main time Sol really helps is when you have already found a way to break that game.
  17. People came into this game knowing there was going to be a time skip riddled with war, and that there would be more than the single gay character the last few games had. Is it really that unreasonable to think something might happen to Alois's family during the time skip, or on going war, with the loving Byleth there to console the man? There were so few gay ending for Byleth, and the gay male ending are unique in that unlike all other pairing types a vast majority of them were not romantic ending (before the DLC at least, which I know little about because I don't buy DLCs). Perhaps if it were not such an outlier, it would not have been so unexpected.
  18. Th Whisper in Darkness? I could be wrong about that, it just makes me think of Mi-Go noises
  19. It really is the best take. Add the twist of him being homoromantic, and you can ship him with Soren just fine Really on a Lovecraft binge with this comment. Rereading the Dunwhich Horror or something? Or just the Call of Cthulhu I guess.
  20. Fair enough, I almost added a disclaimer about Three Houses, but felt too lazy...and remember how much the game cucked us with its gay men options. One in Conquest, and one in Birthright...Also I love that no one has noted Echoe's Leon, who has the misfortune of not having a player avatar to date, and must instead pine after a straight man. Mostly monarchies, as opposed to a "Republic" where the rich merchant Oligarchs vote on which of them should rule as Dolge Damn, really going after some tragic and unusual events on this run.
  21. Ah yes Ike's most popular potential husband. Tellius is surprisingly queer, but coy about it at times, with Ike noticeably having paired ending only with men, and with Kyza not being localize properly... So many of them feel so begrudging with their singular gay character. Its so easy to forget about the last minute twist about Rajaion. I like that interpretation of things, it feels true. Oops...eh Tibarn is probably strong enough to solo most maps anyway, as long as you are careful about crossbows. Lol, I am not surprised you missed that she got that added to her skill list quietly between parts. At least you can remove it if you want to, and unless you plane on powerleveling some particularly useless unit, you really do want to remove it. Ooh, have fun...that reminds me, I don't think I ever got around to finishing that old screenshot LP of a Vestaria 1 ironman. I forget what distract from it...perhaps I will get back to it after this round of TeeHee linked ironman. I think the side lords of FE7 in Hector mode are an interesting exception to this. Both have parents that died before the game, and yet they have a bit of a talk about the scars those deaths left on them on the ship, with Lyn admitting that her hatred of Fargus's charming band of pirates stems from her parents (and much of her tribe) having been murdered by bandits, and seeing pirates as basically the same kind of beast. Meanwhile Hector talks about how he felt like he couldn't let other see him grieve, couldn't let other see that weakness in him, even at the funeral, and how torn up he was inside that his efforts worked so well that he couldn't cry even in private, even when he wanted to with all his heart. To be fair, all the Spot Pass chapters are very, very stupid from a canon perspective, and unless you consider them non-canon they make everything worse. Lol, I like this magical Mpreg alternative. Let Soren's magic fill Ike with their loving child Darth Vader's inclusion in Tellius was a funny decision, but I think he works in Path of Radiance at least. His inclusion in Radiant Dawn feels very odd throughout though. Getting Sheela's personal is difficult in general, due to you being unable to trade the statue...
  22. I think you have solved it with your side note about grading, we should use symbols for the final support: ❤️ for romantic, ♦️ for platonic... Although using those symbols makes me think back to Homestuck and the quadrants of the trolls, and while♣️ would be a bit complicated to adapt, and would probably be better used to represent a different final relationship type, using ♠️ to represent a consuming lifelong rivalry would an interesting addition for a possible final relationship position for supports. Edit: In a sense Engage was already transitioning towards symbols for final support with it being labeled💍 instead of S, they just didn't differentiate things beyond that.
  23. Ah, that makes sense. That would just make it funnier when it does finally backfired on her. Two benefit come to mind, first if you need to lunge to break up deadly attack stance formations, an armoured knight can better survive the maneuver, secondly if you are lunging through a wall, or some other terrain that might isolate them from the rest of the army, the tankiness could help them survive. I only heard about it recently from the Johnstone video about getting all the Black and White 2 medals, and I looked into it a little more. Plus I think they get the double exp for having N's trainer number Hard to say yet, but the guy has been lucky. Time for the chapter where I had my first death on my first ironman of this game. Lets see if I can do better this time... I am a bit torn on what to do next. Two promotion items just showed up in the shop, but I burned all my money on clothes again...I might go for another paralogue, but the two available are a bit dangerous, and even the story map will get me a fair bit of spending money.
