  1. Thank you so much for the feedback (and your diligence in reading the whole thing)! An idea I had today was that I think I'll probably rewrite the whole thing when I'm completely done with it so that I can make it flow better and change things to make more sense, like with your suggestions. Oh, and: Anyway, here is the prompt, my fellow foresters: Happy hunting!
  2. The name for the Tootsie Roll was inspired by creator Leo Hirshfield's daughter Clara, who was nicknamed "Tootsie."
  3. actually you can just implant arthritic bones into their body to give them arthritis. i should know, that's how i lost my medical license

  7. You mean to tell me the ability to pair Seliph and Julia through this "jealousy" mechanic was a b u g ? ? ? Just kidding, of course, but I think the fact that you can exploit characters like Seliph and Julia to be paired up through that method was pretty telling that it wasn't an intended "mechanic" since she has a negative love growth him to begin with. Still, it's a very interesting concept; it would be cool to see it actually be a part of an FE4 remake, barring the unintended pairings.
  8. I think Music Box from FE4 could be a good starting point. It's quiet and simple, and not nearly as complex as other songs in the series, nor is it as long. I don't know if it would translate very well to the instruments you play, but I don't think it would hurt to try. I'm sure other users more knowledgeable about music can give better songs to learn, but I myself am incredibly fond of Music Box, so I won't pass up the opportunity to plug it.
  9. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but Paragon only works with regular EXP, not Weapon EXP, so Safy's staff rank won't grow any faster. Again, I could be wrong. However, I'm assuming you're playing the game on an emulator, in which case it wouldn't hurt to create a save state and test it out to see for yourself.
  10. I don't know if it'd be any fun to keep updating the thread as new Emblems are revealed, but here's Sigurd's title.
  11. Nils/Ninian. I'm pretty sure they share stats and inventory, so they're effectively the same unit. I'm not so cruel that I wouldn't give you a refresher.
  12. I figure it'll probably be something related to the title of the games they appear in. It's hard coming up with more unique titles for some of them, honestly, but if I could give them titles, it'd probably be something like: For the other Lords not featured in the game:
  13. Adding to previous points, Mystery of the Emblem includes a remake of FE1 in it's first book and then the actual sequel to FE1 in its second book, so it's two games in one, which is fantastic. However, Book I actually has less content than the game it's remaking; I believe entire chapters and characters were removed, so you aren't exactly getting the "definitive" experience that you would get otherwise, but it probably doesn't even matter that much anyway. Then you have a legitimate remake of FE1 in Shadow Dragon on the DS, and say what you will about it, but it was literally the only Archanea game that released outside of Japan for a long time before FE1 got an international (albeit limited time) release. Then there's New Mystery, which remakes just FE3 and adds in more content (for better or for worse), and even though it's Japan-Only, you have fan-translations to pick up the slack. So from my limited understanding, FE3 isn't very popular for English audiences because it's supposedly outclassed by FE1, the remake of FE1 that it already tried to remake, its own remake, and other FE titles on the same system. There isn't much reason to play it nowadays besides looking for comparisons and to see what was changed between games.
  14. Don't forget the friends we made along the way! ...nvm, it's slow again.
  15. I can't say I have very many diverging opinions, or very many opinions to begin with for that matter, but I'll share a few. Lords of Shadow 1 is a great game. It's really just a Castlevania game in name only, taking certain elements from the main series to bolster itself, but it does so pretty well. At the same time, I can't imagine it not being called a Castlevania game. It's obviously very different from what's expected of the series, probably more akin to God of War than anything else. But I've never played God of War, and as far as I'm concerned, LoS is fantastic on its own merits. FFXV is also a great game for what it is. It does get repetitive, the story is almost nowhere to be found until you get funneled into completing the rest of it at a certain point, DLC paywalls suck ass (unless you get Royal/Windows edition), and the combat can be hit or miss. However, I think the combat hits, and it's generally very fun, especially when you swap between weapons and party members. Speaking of the latter, I really like the smaller, more focused party that this game has. It makes for better interpersonal connections between characters, and their banter throughout the game never gets dull. Oh, and the music in this game is utterly exquisite. Apocalypsis Noctis/Aquarius/Magnatus are high up there as some of the best songs I've ever heard from a video game. I also remember someone somewhere saying that Noctis' grown-up design is peak JRPG character design, and I couldn't agree more. Minecraft has gotten to the point now that I think it has almost far too much stuff. That's not necessarily a bad thing, and I think the content it does have has improved the game substantially, but I can't help but feel that the simplicity of older versions is more appealing. Echoing that last point, games that have too much stuff to do feel bloated. I don't have to interact with all that content, of course, but as someone that feels compelled to fully complete most games to as close to completion as possible, if not exactly 100%, it gets tiring. I think games like Spider-Man PS4 strike a good balance between having plenty to do, but not so much that you can't do it all... but then I do everything and have no real reason to return to it.
  16. I've been clicking around, and I think it's back to normal now, at least for me. Is it back up to speed for anyone else?
  17. Ok, glad to know it's not just me! It might be something with the hosting service then if that's the case. Main site definitely seems alright, it's just the forums that are running slow.
  18. I'm not entirely sure if this topic fits here, and it might just be me for all I know, but for the past few days whenever I open this site, it loads slower than usual; same deal with navigating to other parts of the site. Every other website I visit elsewhere loads up perfectly fine, it's only this site that I'm having problems with. I don't know if it's happening to anyone else, but I've never had this problem occur until recently as far as I can remember. It might just be something on my end that I have no clue about, but is this issue happening for anyone else? I've restarted my computer, and I've checked on Edge, Chrome, and Firefox, and the site is running slow on all of them. It's about the same on mobile whether I'm connected to Wifi or using Data. If anyone has any solutions or information they can share, I would super appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
  19. This is true, even in later games since the variable parent often has a generic support conversation with minor changes to what they say to better fit their style of speaking. I think Finn and Lewyn are two of the incredibly rare exceptions since they're the only potential fathers to be around in Gen 2 of FE4 (Lewyn as Seliph's backpack and Finn as a playable unit), which makes it a lot easier to write conversations between their potential children (and seeing the difference between Finn's tearjerking reunions and Lewyn's kids telling him to fuck off). There are some translations for the Japan-only Festival of Bonds DLC for Fates that you can find online, which has more character specific interactions rather than the generic parent conversations if that interests you at all. For example, you could type in "Midori Azura" or "Soleil Camilla" (so essentially "(insert child) (insert variable parent)") and find results for it. They aren't very long, but it's at least something.
  20. Either option is good with me. Even then, there's always been a mix of both in each game that includes 2nd Gen units, albeit extremely limited; in Awakening, Chrom and Male Robin are the outliers, and in Fates, Azura and Female Corrin are the same way (they're the main characters, sure, but they still stand out). Sigurd and Quan kinda fall into that outlier category, but they're forced into pairings with Deirdre and Ethlyn respectively, and Seliph, Leif, and Altena are units that you get in Gen 2 regardless. I think @Jotari also mentioned in another thread that Seliph is most likely attached to his mother rather than his father (like other child units; Leif and Altena would probably be the same way with Ethlyn). Anyway, I think it should depend on the game on whether children are tied to their mothers or fathers. How? For what reasons, you may ask? I have no idea. A neat idea I liked from Awakening and Fates was having two children tied to the mother and father respectively, like when pairing Chrom, Male Robin, Azura, and Female Corrin (for instance, pairing Chrom with anyone other than the village maiden nets you Lucina, who is tied to Chrom, and the child of who Chrom married, so two units from one pairing instead of the typical one unit). FE4 did this, but not really. Both children were tied to the mother, but the idea for one child per respective parent was a concept at some point; Lex and Lester's suspicious similarities are some evidence of that.
