  1. I'd feel remiss if I didn't say Ocarina of Time. It's far and away my most replayed video game ever, and I've beaten it enough times that I think I've lost count. Say what you want about Navi and the Water Temple, but there's a reason this game sits as one of the greatest games of all time, and I, for one, will forever cement it as my favorite game of all time... after Mother 3... and Xenoblade Chronicles 3... okay, so maybe not my absolute favorite, but definitely top 3. I'll also take the time plug this phenomenal video about OoT. I'd highly recommend giving it a watch if you've got the time. Not to mention it's also technically the first Zelda game to have a playable Zelda, I believe. Tears of the Kingdom can eat it's heart out!... if Zelda is even playable at all in that game, lol.
  2. You can't on your end; you'd have to ask a mod to delete it. However, it might not be a bad idea to document how to you fixed it? Just so anyone with the same issue can follow your steps and fix it, too.
  3. You can still fairly easily get the pairings you want without it, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Believe it or not, despite the documentation on how it works, it's actually a bug.
  4. Yeah, that guy! Thanks for checking, that's very professional of you.
  5. FFXV is a great game, I hope you're enjoying it! From XV, I'd probably go with Aranea for... reasons. Overall, I'd probably say Laguna from FFVIII.
  6. I'll go ahead and take the time to plug the Love Growths and Jealousy pages from the main site since they have the most reliable information on it, I think. I'd definitely give that a look-see when you can. It's supremely helpful. I'll also apologize in advance for any potential errors, as well as potentially providing information that you might have already known. The best advice I can give is to have certain characters avoid each other like the plague, and keep the characters you wanna pair up directly next to each other as much as you can at the end of each turn. Certain characters come with a predetermined amount of love points between each other, so they'll have an easier time pairing up compared to others. For instance, Jamke has the highest starting amount of love points with Edain at 250, whereas someone like Midir has 120. However, they each gain 1 love point per turn no matter what, but if you wanted to pair Midir with Edain, placing Midir next to Edain by the end of every turn will cause them to pair together faster since the growth value is boosted by 5 if they're next to each other. This would eventually mean that Midir can pair up with Edain faster despite Jamke starting off with a higher starting value since Midir and Edain's love growths outpace Jamke. Also, I'd suggest grinding love points between characters once you reach the end of a chapter when all the enemies are defeated. You can pair up the characters you want to pair faster, but only up until turn 50, which is when it stops growing for that chapter. Just keep in mind how long you're doing it for, because characters you don't wanna pair might end up getting together anyway. FYI, Finn comes with the highest love growth out of anyone in the 1st generation with both Tailtiu and Brigid at 10 points per turn solely because he leaves the army at the beginning of Chapter 4, so this gives the player time to pair them if they feel so inclined to do so before he leaves. I remember it messed me up once and I had to start the chapter over to prevent it, so don't let it happen to you! Keep an eye on each character's status screens each turn to see who they might have paired up.
  7. I feel bad for asking since you say you're doing this for free, but... could you do Finn? I'm also very interested in seeing what else you'll make.
  8. seriously? ANOTHER anime sword fighter? I think Lyn is a pretty viable candidate for an upgrade from her current Assist Trophy status, if not one of the most worthy of an upgrade. In terms of costumes, I think an alt based on Hector would be a shoe-in, as well as potentially Mark (so a blue and green alt respectively). Eliwood probably isn't as likely considering Roy is in the game (and also already has an Eliwood alt). Florina and Nils seem like good candidates, as well as Anna to give her a red alt. I also wouldn't mind an alt based on her Swordmaster garb from Awakening/Warriors. Beyond the surface level stuff, that's about all I got. Concerning her moveset, I think she'd do great with a samurai-inspired kit, and would make her stand out from other the other swordies a bit (correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the closest we have to that currently is Sephiroth of all people). While I won't go into the nitty gritty specifics of her moveset, I can at least say with confidence that her Final Smash could be based on either her current Assist Trophy attacks or her Blazing Blade crit animation. I'd personally make it an amalgamation of the two, whereupon activating it puts her into her Assist Trophy stance and makes her stationary and invulnerable, but she'll eventually teleport and hit target, activating her crit animation. Alternatively, if she's attacked, she'll counter and do the crit animation that way as well.
  9. Ah, I see a fellow ad bot mocker here. You've chosen a truly devout path, my friend. I myself am no stranger to the ways of these devils. We must keep up the good fight, lest they take over our beloved Forest!
  10. Apologies for the double post, but I've added something to the original formula that I think is worth warranting an additional post. Now, it's definitely not perfect, and there's probably a better equation that can be used that yields the exact results, but I'm too lazy/not smart enough to figure it out, so for the sake of my own time and sanity, I'll post what I've got this time around. I think it's a tad more consistent than the original formula, at least. Using the class growth rates that @ping mentioned, I took the difference between Roy and Lilina's growth rates and their class growth rates to yield a "growth modifier," so to speak. I then combined these modifiers with the growth rates I previously found, making the new formula [(Father's Growth Rates + Mother's Growth Rates)/2 + Child's Growth Modifiers]. I've also gone ahead and bolded exact matches and italicized+underlined the closest matches to their original growth rates. With that, the new closest matches are Eliwood+Fiora and Hector+Farina. ...I'll get it the way I want one of these days.
  11. This was something I noticed after looking into it a bit. Just the fact that they share certain growths tells me it may not be possible in the first place. I'm no mathematician, either. I'll try to come up with something, but like I mentioned, the formula for one character won't necessarily translate over to another.
  12. Across the Fire Emblem series, there are a handful of titles that give the player access to different armies to control during the game. Army availability varies from game to game, but among the games that include them (and feel free to mention any that I might have missed): Gaiden/SoV - Access to Alm and Celica's armies are available at the same time starting with Act 3 Genealogy of the Holy War - The game is split into two generations, led by Sigurd and Seliph respectively Radiant Dawn - Like FE4, the game is split into multiple parts, with access to different armies as the game progresses Fates (Birthright and Conquest) - The player decides on which kingdom to side with, each with exclusive units to use depending on the choice made Three Houses - Like Fates, the player decides on a House to join, each with units exclusive to that House Three Hopes - This game includes the same exact characters as Three Houses, but the game itself plays quite differently from it's predecessor, so there is a fundamental difference in gameplay that may give one army an advantage over another that did not exist in Three Houses So, among the games with multiple armies, which of them is the strongest in their respective title? Feel free to include any DLC characters with the army of your choice. The army options are: Alm's vs. Celica's Friendly reminder that Celica can potentially recruit Kliff and Faye into her army in SoV Emma + Randal and Shade + Yuzu can join either army Sigurd's vs. Seliph's Consider Seliph's army composition (substitutes, who the parents of child units are, etc.) up to your own discretion Dawn Brigade vs. Royal Knights vs. Greil Mercenaries As for Silver Army vs. Greil Army vs. Hawk Army, since certain units aren't available up until that point of RD, you can again consider army composition up to your own discretion Hoshido vs. Nohr For the sake of comparison, Revelation is not included since it converges both armies into one Black Eagles vs. Blue Lions vs. Golden Deer You can consider any Church of Seiros members that are available in each route as part of that particular army
  13. Y'know, I didn't even think to do that. I think you've definitely got the right idea, but I'm not sure how well reverse engineering a growth formula would go. I'm don't know if finding a formula for one character will translate over to another. I'll give it a shot and see what I can do, though!
  14. I did consider what the Village Girl(s) might bring to the table (but figured nahhh), and I gotta say, the Scribe is legitimately funny. Nice work coming up with a story for those, too! It'd be a neat novelty to see a unit with negative growths in a future game (outside of negative growths runs). If you wanna go the extra step, there are blood types too!... but only in Japan.
  15. Probably a somewhat lukewarmly debated topic of the Fire Emblem shipping wars is the question of who Roy and Lilina's "canon" mothers are. While the shipping wars of Genealogy/Awakening/Fates are far more hotly contested thanks to having two generations in the same game, Roy and Lilina have the benefit of being in another game entirely, not to mention that their parents' outings are in a prequel that had the benefit of hindsight. Similarly to another thread I've done, I'm going to be compiling the growth rates and inheritance of Roy and Lilina's prospective parents together to determine who, mathematically speaking, is the most likely candidate for their "canon" mothers. However, the only real stats I'll be able to use are growth rates and affinities, so my findings are going to be inherently less complex (and less thematically interesting) than what I might be able to figure out from a game like FE4. Also, since I doubt that any of the calculations are going to be one-to-one the same, our goal instead will simply be to determine which pairing has the closest match to Roy and Lilina's growth rates. Quick Disclaimer: This thread is purely for speculative fun. The information provided is not meant to prove or disprove anyone's personal biases, so please do not take this like I'm spreading gospel. ~ ~ ~ For the calculations to determine growth rates, I'll be using a slightly modified formula of Awakening's equation: (Father’s growth rates + Mother’s growth rates)/2. It's simply just an averaging equation. If I were to use FE4's formula, Roy and Lilina's growth rates would have been absolutely cracked, and quite frankly, they'd be way off the mark. It should also be noted that, at least from my understanding (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here), Strength and Magic in FE6/7 are essentially treated as the same stat and share the same growth rate, but there aren't any classes in these games that would use both stats anyway. For the sake of the following calculations, Strength and Magic will be considered as one stat, but will conform to the character's classes as such (so since Lilina is a mage, she will have Magic; as for Roy, since he's a Lord, he uses Strength). I would also like to point out that Eliwood and Hector actually have two different sets of growth rates for FE6 and FE7 respectively. To keep things consistent, I'll only be using their growths from FE7. The possible candidates, as well as their personal affinities are as follows: For Eliwood (Anima) Lyn (Wind) Ninian (Ice) Fiora (Wind) For Hector (Thunder) Lyn (Wind) Florina (Light) Farina (Anima) Also, for reference, here are Roy and Lilina's growth rates and affinities (the latter of which probably isn't going to come into play... like, at all, but I figured I'd include it anyway): Now then, starting with Roy, here are his possible growth rates: As for Lilina, here are her possible growth rates: ~ ~ ~ So, based on the results, who are the most likely to have been Roy and Lilina's mothers? Well... none of them, really. As it turns out, trying to mathematically figure out a character's growth rates based on their parents' growth rates from an entirely different game doesn't work out as well as I thought it would, and is a fundamentally flawed experiment. Lilina is a totally different kind of unit from Hector, and Roy actually shares more in common with his father than anything else; the only difference between Roy and Eliwood is that the latter takes a 15% dip in Luck to give 5% to his Strength, Defense, and Resistance respectively. However, that answer is a total cop-out and not what I'm looking for, even if it's the truth. So, among the characters that provide the least radical changes and are the most consistent with Roy and Lilina's growths, it would be Eliwood+Lyn and Hector+Florina. ~ ~ ~ And there you have it folks! Quite frankly, unless my math is messed up somewhere, which I sincerely hope it is, I can't say that an Eliwood+Ninian shipper such as myself is all too thrilled with this outcome. When it comes to affinities, only Florina and Lilina share a Light affinity, and unless an Anima affinity can flip Ice into Fire, it seems I've only been able to confirm one of own personal biases today. How tragic.
  16. Yeah, I feel pretty good about this one. I don't know how well it conforms to the theme, but I guess I'll leave that up to reader interpretation. Enjoy another weird one. Edit: Made a slight adjustment and added a sentence. No big deal. Title: Out of Bounds Word Count: 1739
  17. Eh, fair enough. I'm just OCD, so don't mind me. As for Lyon and Leon, if we're going by the pronunciation metric, they could probably stay where they are.
  18. There's never enough Tellius. N E V E R Currently, Elibe and Tellius are tied with the most representation with 3 Emblems each (Roy, Lyn, and Hector for Elibe, and Ike, Micaiah, and Soren for Tellius). Magvel technically has the least representation with 1 Emblem, but it has two characters (Eirika and Ephraim) that share the ring. Yeah, but none of the Emblems have a dagger available as an Emblem Weapon (like Marth's Rapier or Leif's Killer Axe). Sothe could have fit in perfectly, imo.
  19. I've always wondered how many names have been reused throughout the series. Thanks for making this! I also find it kinda funny that Lorenz has been used twice over the traditional Lawrence. Also... I hate to be that guy for such minor nitpicks, and I apologize in advance for this, but... Altena and Altina do have different pronunciations. Altena is pronounced All-tay-nuh and Altina is pronounced All-tee-nuh. Sophia and Sophie are pretty much exactly the same except for the end, where Sophie drops the uh sound, making it just So-fee instead of So-fee-uh. Lyon and Leon could have been the same, but Ephraim turned French to call Lyon Lee-ohn in Heroes. Leon is just Lee-on. A similar case to Altena and Altina, Rafiel is pronounced Rahf-ee-el and Raphael is pronounced Rahf-aye-el. Vowel pronunciations are weird sometimes.
  20. Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 is probably one of my favorite adaptations out there. It was an anime that eventually caught up to the source material it was adapting, so the decision was made to take it in it's own direction and run with it, and I absolutely adore it for that. The ending to 2003 and Conqueror of Shamballa is very bittersweet, but I think it's an ultimately satisfying conclusion for the story that was being told, and it's the ending I prefer the most among versions. However, 2003 is a unique case in that it's source material was never "bad" or "weak" to begin with (quite the contrary!), and I don't think it was ever held back by the manga aside from the fact that the manga was still being serialized at the time, so there was only so much to work with up to a certain point. Even so, just the fact that I can even question whether or not it's better than the manga and Brotherhood should be a testament to how well done it was.
  21. Well, that's pretty sweet! I didn't expect it to drop so soon. I figured we were gonna be getting things piecemeal based on Wave 1, but now I'm curious as to what Wave 3 will have? They skipped over it to tease Wave 4. Edit: Wait, no, I'm dumb, we are getting things piecemeal.
  22. Now that's an interesting take. How do think that would affect Radiant Dawn?
  23. The answer(s) to this question would probably be a Lord or main antagonist, but in the off-chance that it's not... which character do you think has the most influence or the biggest impact on the story in each Fire Emblem game? And why are they so important? Alternatively, are there any seemingly important characters that you think would have absolutely zero consequences on the plot if they were removed? Also, if you have any Engage spoilers, I would humbly ask that they be placed within spoilers tags for my own sake because I haven't beaten the game yet, I don't have the kind of time that everyone else does for the sake of others that have yet to complete the game. Thank you in advance.
  24. I'm not very far into the game myself, but I generally try to keep everyone's arsenal fairly balanced to fit the situation accordingly. I like having strong weapons, but I try to keep "weaker" weapons in everyone's inventories so I can leave enemies alive just enough after combat for another unit to come in and finish them off to soak up the EXP, so Iron weapons are a staple. Even in other FE games, they never really stop being useful, at least for me.
