  1. ^ Sure is GHOST around here. I think disabling Exp Share is a bad idea in this game. Gen 5-style scaling of exp to level means you will never overlevel too much, unlike in XYORAS, and since there are no lolbroken Pokemon aside from Ash-Greninja, underlevelled mons will really struggle with the trials and the endgame battles.
  2. I'm playing Moon and it's Sandshrew that starts being available in the wild after the first 6 or so trials on the third island. I imagine Vulpix does the same for Sun since they're both ice types.
  3. Not very far at all. The wild Pokemon levels are up to lv. 10, which is what your team should roughly be. I've had Exp Share turned off for most of the game though. Somewhat poorer news though, 3/4ths of the main storyline in, I still haven't found a Dusk Stone. Who knows though, I may have not looked well enough.
  4. Misdreavus is in Hau'oli Cemetary, which is before the first trial / kahuna iirc. Gastly, Drifloon (haven't encountered; pity because an NPC offers money for catching one - a recurring trend in the game) and I think Zubat are in the same area. Actually, the GameFAQs list is bad lol! I'd have started work on my own (as I'm working on a few similar-ish resource things), but I'm never sure what the full list of Pokemon in an area is - the text dumps don't make much sense to me - what are "tables"? Why does only one table out of eight say Gyarados has a 30% of being fished out in like every other are earlygame (no chance in the other seven)?
  5. They're not wild. You are given the choice between Armor and Plume fossils in Moon circa the 5th trial. I assume the same is the case with Sun (which also leaked a little while ago).
  6. Archen is a Moon exclusive? Gotta love having access to Archeops then. It's a pity you get it at lv. 15 when most of your team / trainer Pokemon you face are well in the mid 20s though... But once again, they actually balanced the game (even Ariados is viable).
  7. Looks pretty complete... Seems to be missing the mons caught by fishing and surfing though. I think this is the best Pokemon game I've ever played in my life. The trials are unprecedented in the challenge and previously unseen qualities they bring to the gameplay, there's nothing that's particularly broken in relation to other good options (maybe Ash-Greninja?), the world is wonderfully complete and attractive, the story makes you beg for more... I can hardly stop playing. The fact that the interface is so convenient is icing on the cake - the abolition of HMs makes it easy to move around in what has always been a rather slow game series.
  8. Diglett isn't exactly as good as I expected. I though it'd be Excadrill 2. Good typing still, but dies very easily. I think evolving Drilbur in gen 5 was much easier than getting Diglett to evolve.
  9. My current impression is that this is the best earlygame bug and earlygame bird combo we've ever got in the series. The Alolan forms also change the way the game is played radically, with Diglett and Grimer having new uses and identities. That Stoutland Search though... Has anybody figured out how to consistently find the items it finds when the exclamation mark pops up? Not even getting off the mount helps most of the time, and constantly mounting and dismounting is a bid time consuming.
  10. Can't tell if Smeargle has a BST increase causing him to hit like a truck or if it's just Technician / earlymons being weak. I actually had trouble with fighting him...
  11. That's like telling a teenage boy not to jerk off lmao. When I heard about the leaks from this forum, I went to 4chan's vp and couldn't fall asleep, really wanting to get my hands on the game. In-game Pokemon has always excited me way more than competitive could, so it's a bit hard to blame me.
  12. Playing through Moon with Rowlet right now. Couldn't make up my mind on which starter I wanted so I went with the one who gets early dual STABs. Also, first ghost-type starter ftw.
  13. Screw Masquerain and Swellow; there's now a Hail equivalent to Sand Rush, which will supposedly make ice-types great again for the first time ever. I can't wait to play the game tonight...
  14. Gotta love how Masquerain got +20 to both sp. atk. and spd bases. Swellow getting +20 sp. atk. makes it good for using Boomburst too!
  15. Just uploaded the 7-turn clear of Chapter 7: Jakob gets pretty strong here, learning 3 skills and getting to D rank katana.
  16. More or less. I wasn't speedrunning or anything, but I might have missed a few trainers here and there. My Exp Share-less XY runs were moderately challenging because I'd end up underlevelled for the E4 portion of the game (not really noticeable until that point though). Some frailmons like Vivillon and Kadabra would die to a little breeze and their sweeping capabilities were severely limited. Kadabra's especially.
  17. By about 3rd to 4th gym. I tried to have a full team as early as I could. I didn't abuse switching out for experience all that much.
  18. XY didn't treat Exp Share fairly... If you turn it off and play with a team of six, they'll be so underlevelled by Victory Road that Repels will always be ineffective.
  19. Fuck I can't believe we have only 2 weeks to wait.
  20. Ever since I heard it first as a Chinese leak rumour that later proved true, I've found it sensational that the usual gym structure has been abolished. What it makes me wonder is whether there will be any fixed structure at all. For example, will those specialists mentioned in the trailers have the same Pokemon at the same levels each time? When the Pokemon League (or its equivalent) is assembled, will it also vary (and if so, how wildly)? I just wonder if there's anything that will be set in stone at all. Will we be able to compile TM and Pokemon locations as we used to? I wouldn't be surprised if we couldn't if the trainers' rosters also shuffled based on the playthrough, the time the player faces them and any other factors we may not be aware of yet. I guess we'll find out very soon at least.
  21. I don't think gen 4 remakes are 'inevitable' considering it came out on DS...
  22. That's how internet-aware gamers play general (j)RPGs. The game only starts when it's over; before then, it's either "too easy" that it doesn't matter, or you're cheesing it out so nothing matters either. Since our tier discussions are dead, Serenes is no longer the sole force to combat this attitude.
