  1. Alright! Chapter 12 was a bit trickier than normal because I had fewer available units to take out those ninjas guarding the dragon vein, and I also didn't have Dread Mozu to fight Ryoma. But I managed without both by using Effie, first to bait Kagero into attacking and getting Javelinned so that clearing out the ninjas all at once would be easier with my fewer units to attack with, and then to whittle down Ryoma's HP while Kaze got both of the chests. I cut it a little close; the apothecaries were one turn away from swarming me as I hadn't been able to split up my forces to properly take them out earlier, but I got both of the chests and beat Ryoma in time. Chapter 13 was rather uneventful in all honesty. Silas and Azura reached C and that made me realize that I should have been building up their support rank much earlier, so I've got to double down on that. Not sure when my next update will be, I'm really only playing when I have free time that I can't use to work on Dakota's War Journal, as I'm hoping to get that done before it officially takes me a whole year.
  2. That support in itself was bad enough, but then they try to insist elsewhere, particularly at the end of her paralogue, that she's a better, more respectful flirt than her father is. And then they throw this support at us, showing her doing something that Laslow would never do and in fact probably could never do without getting the shit kicked out of him.
  3. Ah man, I hate it when you have a great idea that existing canon I just kinda went along with without thinking renders impossible. I hate how I went off the rails just barely too late to throw out the Avatar and their entire army's beyond-Batmanian ability to 100% reliably non-lethally incapacitate soldiers while using clearly lethal weapons. If I had caught on and jumped ship just a few chapters earlier then it could've resulted in this awesome and hilarious challenge run where, both because it's the right thing to do and so that the conspiracy's spin doctors don't get any further ammunition, Dakota and company would have to fight all of the mooks in chapter 8 with carp streamers and raddishes and bread. It would have been great! But alas, since I've established Dakota has that ridiculous skill, I can't. Damn it.
  4. ...Wow, black comedy, I like it. But on the off-chance you were serious, honestly that was just an experiment of mine back before I realized the limitations of Peri's personal skill. It wasn't actively bad though, and Midori turned out really useful. Anyway... I actually managed chapter 10 without any extra units! I mean my drafted units did trade with Selena and Beruka at points, but Selena and Beruka never performed any actions and I didn't deploy anyone but my main team, and it went pretty smoothly thanks to exploiting attack stance on enemy phase and a trick I learned from Boss Moogle that Camilla can one-round the oni savages with her thunder tome as long as you give her a magic tonic. I also cleared chapter 11 with little incident and Jakob has reached level 15 Strategist and now has Rally Resistance and Inspiration. I'm stuck with him as my only healer until chapter 16, but I'm hoping at some point I'll be able to get him Rally Defense to round out his defensive auras. Also, what the hell was I thinking, how could I possibly not plan to have any of the guys marry Mozu for that huge growth rate boost? I'm going to have Keaton marry her. She should give him good pair up bonuses too when she's not needed as an archer. I'm really torn about whether to use Camilla as a malig knight or a wyvern lord. I know wyvern lord will give her better stats, but something tells me I may have just gotten magic screwed last time around and that if I stick with malig knight I might actually get usable magic from her. What do you guys think?
  5. Oh, uh... I'll be honest I haven't been keeping a turncount and honestly it's probably going to look pretty shit if I had, as you'll see below. Chapter 7 was pretty uneventful (I didn't start the draft until then), though not having Elise and Arthur (but mostly Elise) made things a tiny bit more complicated. As for chapter 8... Well, with my army so undermanned so early in the game when speed is key in chapter 8 to keep from losing crucial funds, I knew I had to get Mozu up to snuff quickly so she could help out. And I'm not using the path bonuses or castle rewards this playthrough so that meant no using the Grand Harbinger of the Fall of All Things Wicked that is Dread Mozu. So after exploiting Silas's birthday speed boost to rush Mozu's location with Dakota in tow, I used her paralogue to train her up as an archer. It was slow. And painful. She did like three damage per attack at the start and I had to use the bridge to wall off faceless while they did chip damage on silas with Effie support, but by the end of it she was level 10. I was scared she was getting a bit strength screwed in the beginning, but that wound up meaning more XP for her and she made up for it with more strength levels in the second half of the paralogue. She also wound up fairly tanky for an archer. So for chapter 8 I used the extremely useful pair of Jakob and Effie to rush the southwestern house, making sure to split up adjacent to each other once in Flora's range so that her freeze staff could be countered via pair up. Silas, Dakota and Mozu went north to take out the first batch of house reinforcements and they just barely managed to intercept the northern soldier by turn two. I ignored the starting location village until later, there wasn't anyone who could spare the time to visit it. Chapter 9 was fairly straightforward. Since Mozu's class change left us with a spare one I ignored Azura's brass naginata in favor of the rescue staff and trained Nyx wherever I could. The only real thing of note here was for the first time ever I didn't capture Haitaka (because I couldn't) and I also song abused Azura to level 10 so I could have inspiring song for the next chapter of hell. Really my concern at the moment is what to do long-term for my party. I was originally going to marry Puppy Hazubendo, but I'm starting to think that might not be viable, and that I might be better off marrying a Kaze who A+s Silas for Luna, so he'll be able to get Luna, Astra (maybe Lethality but I'm not sure if I want that) and Rend Heaven (from me) for Nohrian Trust use, and I can make him a Great Knight pair up bot for a Master Ninja Dakota (I haven't tried that before, it seems useful, especially since my magic on this avatar hasn't turned out so hot) If I do that, I'll marry Keaton off to Effie, Jakob to Camilla so that he can get Rally Defense along with Rally Resistance, and then unfortunately Silas will be stuck with Azura (I'll use Sophie as a pair up bot probably, her defensive stats will, to use the ironic term, tank) and then have Shigure marry Velouria so that he can have both rally speed and rally strength. And of course Leo goes with Felicia because of course he will, how can anyone ever make a Forrest without demoiselle!? Leo's purpose will be largely as a reliably but not ridiculously tanky two-range unit with good crit resistance. His utility largely depends on his amazing growths, so I'll have to hope I don't get screwed over here.
  6. Alright, final round! So my final draft roster is... Keaton Camilla Leo Effie Nyx.
  7. Again I don't want to add any further rules, but if HAF is okay with it I am.
  8. Effie. As for the castle stuff, I see what you mean about the lottery shop, but Lilith's temple at least requires resources to get a tiny amount of gold.
  9. And there go my hopes of Nohrian Trusting Luna and Pavise from Keaton. But I guess that's the whole point. Hm... Leo.
  10. Damn it! My precious rallybot... :( Right, then I choose Camilla.
  11. Branch of fate or a draftless run of the prologue chapters, whichever you prefer. Anyway I'm pretty sure branch of fate uses your last file's rules or something, because all of my branch of fate files are classic. As for the other rules, aside from the units drafted you can do what you like, this isn't a strict, official or competitive thing, I just wanted to spice up my next playthrough. To be honest this is my first draft and considering the low unit pool in Conquest compared to other games I didn't want to make it too restrictive.
  12. Fair point. Alright then, original plan. My first pick: Keaton.
  13. But you won't even get Jakob early unless you're female, it's only the chapter 15 one who I was planning to swap out.
  14. Alright! As for order, as I said, posting order determines who gets first pick, but since I didn't want to abuse my topic starting to automatically declare myself first, I decided that I would count up the vowels in the other two posters' usernames to decide if I go first or last. Odd, I go first, even, I go last, Y included as a vowel. Cyas: YA, 2 Hylian Air Force: YIA AI OE, 7. 9, that means I go first, then Cyas, then Hylian Air Force. But first, Cyas, what do you think of my rule change suggestion?
  15. Alright, I'm assuming this qualifies as a "project" under the double posting rules, I came up with a potential update to the rules: What if we replace the same-sex servant with Niles on the free unit list? That way the early game doesn't have a ton of mandatory chest skipping, we all get an early free unit to give a helping hand in chapter 10, and capture system isn't rendered meaningless for all but one of us so if it's absolutely necessary we can capture units to aid us in chapter 10. How does that sound? Also, again, one spot left!
  16. That's the point though: who else could it conceivably be? For whatever reason there aren't that many dragon-blooded people lying around despite it being passed down through the blood for centuries in-story, and all of the holy weapons are still within one family of royals on each side, which is satistically nigh-impossible unless for whatever reason Garon and Sumeragi were at one point the only Nohrian and Hoshidan royals left alive. There are ten young royals, only two of them switched countries, and only one of them went from Hoshido to Nohr. It could only be the avatar. And honestly is there any evidence that Kamui's kidnapping was some grand conspiracy only Garon and Xander knew about? I always got the impression it was just something they hid from Kamui when s/he was sheltered. And surely even the slightest amount of effort on their end would have uncovered the truth. Or maybe just noticing Kamui's red eyes and pointy ears and thinking "something's up..."
  17. Nah, they hear Anankos hear that Corrin's not in Hoshido anymore and s/he's in Nohr now. And there's only one person with dragon blood who was in Hoshido and is now in Nohr, so I agree, they'd have to be idiots not to figure it out.
  18. I think one of the biggest disconnects is the game's inexplicable insistence on making it look like Azura's actually capable of engaging in combat. They have her fight right alongside Corrin and the route's leading prince on numerous occasions, Conquest chapter 17 has her rout multiple Hoshidan troops singlehanded offscreen without breaking a sweat... [spoiler="Conquest chapter 21] and the game honestly expects me to believe that she's more capable of taking a hit for the avatar than Lilith is, which is asinine. Seriously, she's the least durable unit in the entire game, the only character with lower HP and defense growths is Gunter. Is it too much to ask for her to actually act like it in cutscenes?
  19. Any other rules are yours to decide, I just want to get the actual unit drafting out of the way. If you want to ban those things on your end, go right ahead. As for chapter 10, fair point, that chapter can get pretty ridiculous without a large number of units. Free units might be a good idea there.
  20. I'm going to be stuck handing out candy for Halloween in an hour or so, so I was thinking to pass the time I might try out one of these drafts I've seen people doing. So I'm looking for two other people interested in taking part in this. Since I want this to be set up quickly, let's keep it simple. Only a few common rules, everything else you can decide on your own later: 1: We play Conquest. 2: The Avatar, Gunter, and all of the neutral units (Jakob, Felicia, Silas, Kaze, Azura, Mozu, Shura, Izana) are free. 3: The children are not draft options, they're automatically allowed as long as both of their parents are among your picks. 4: We each take turns picking from the 17 remaining Nohr route characters until we each have 5. 5: Picking order is determined by who volunteers first. Any takers?
  21. Yeah, sorry about that, the orb menu doesn't actually tell you which bond unit specifically belongs to who, it just lists the name of the bond unit and the name of the person without showing their profiles, which is annoying with duplicate named bond units or when they come from somebody who just uses the name "Corrin".
  22. Oh I could go on for pages about what I would do if I were writing Fates from scratch (and I will once I finish Revelation), but if it had to just be one change? ...Oh, and I almost forgot: For Awakening? Focus on the cool story you implied. Seriously, the bad future seems like it would've made a far more interesting story and game than the one we actually got.
