  1. You could probably just PM a staff member, I think that would get this cleared up a lot faster. To answer the question however I don't think SF has anything like that but maybe i'm wrong. I do agree that a filter would be useful if you only want to browse a specific topic(s)
  2. Pretty much this. If walls of text and stats aren't going to change his mind, what's the point anymore. At the end of the day we can all spend hours on essays for this topic but every argument is inevitably going to be met with a simple "No your wrong" with no back up evidance, counter argument or justification. It's a futile effort at this point and i'm honestly surprised it hasn't been moved to FrtF or just locked.
  3. He doesn't need to is the thing though, magic is far better on wyverns, who have low res mind you rather than hitting def for 2x which may not even be that much considering the def of wyvern units.... Barely passable? while it's true that his growths aren't stellar, he has such broken bases that he can last on those for quite a long time. Seriously, how does this keep getting mentioned, it implies that bows were any good in the gba games in the first place. (hint: They were not) And lyn getting them is really just pouring salt in an open wound. Listen we get it you like lyn, so do I (at least more than most apparently ) but i'm at least objective enough to say that she has many glaring flaws, but you seem to have put her on this grand pillar held together by heavy favoritism and bias. Lyn is not the best character in blazing blade, that honor goes to units like Marcus, Florina, Sain, Pent etc. There's liking a unit, but also acknowledging their faults, and then there's complete blind bias and denial of any criticism or valid points brought up. You seem to lean towards the latter. So many people in this thread have brought up pretty solid evidence that lyn is not as good as you think she is. Yet every time you are challenged with these points you revert to the same old argument i've seen you use in different threads outside of this one. Guess it just proves the age old added “ignorance is bliss” to be true. Edit: "Wrong. I will lend you a ear, but I will have the final word in whatever one's advice or opinion is helpfull or not." -DiogoJorge what the actual hell is the point of lending someone an ear if you're only going to tell them that they are wrong. Thats like walking an old lady across the street just so you can shove her into the next moving car. It doesnt make sense and is hypocritical. Note: I would have just quoted this but it doesnt seem you can put quotes in while editing a post.
  4. Really? Fates is tame compared to the shit that goes on in the mess of a game that is genealogy. That being said, i honestly think IS should have gone with the original angle and have you be related to the hoshidans instead of creating some half assed excuse so you could pet their faces. They could have just had Arete and Mikoto be the daughters of anankos instead of having him be the avatars father.
  5. Yes i'm well aware, but if you took the time to level up Nils in lyn's mode she's nigh unhittable when she joins and remains so for the rest of the game. The point I was making was that someone had said that doge tanking isn't a reliable strat to stay alive but when your facing hit rates below 10 consistently you don't really ever have to worry about being hit. That being said its always better to keep her away from combat if possible. Where did I make this argument exactly? I do agree with you on this, and I will concede that I do eventually drop her in HHM just because of this fact but on all other modes she's prefect viable, she's not great buts she's okay. I would disagree, she's a pain in the rear even on normal mode and even if you do train her up (and take away valuable exp from other better units) she ends up just being a slightly improved Pent. Edit: when did this become Eliwood vs Lyn? Pretty sure it was about Lyn and Marcus. The one thing I will say about the eliwoood and lyn debate is that eliwood being better than her is far from guaranteed what with his growths screaming "RNG screw me please!" But again this is about lyn and marcus, eliwood shouldn't even be in this topic at all.
  6. To answer the topic, I use lyn for longer but Marcus is far more helpful early game. I've found that I don't really need Marcus after a while and I kind of just use Lyn because she's a lord. Not sure why everyone thinks she's so bad, like come on guys she's nowhere near Roy levels of suck. Is she the best unit in the game? No not by a long shot but neither is Marcus for that matter. Each has their own uses and benefits. That being said I will say that Marcus is a god send on HHM but he pretty much always ends up out classed by Sain at the end Lol how? They are slow as snails and axes in general suck as a weapon choice for anyone not named Hector Ninian would like to have a talk with you. With like 5 chapters left at which point Pent is already available and better than Nino in every possible way. Also it's too bad COD is a mage fest in HHM and 7 res isn't doing her any favors.
  7. Eh, that's debatable at best, enemy units have shit tier growths and are only really good at being meat shields which means wasting a unit slot on a crap filler unit. Bull on this, I JUST played chapter 8 TODAY and on hard. If 78-85% accuracy isn't good enough for you then yeah i guess he's less accurate than mozu, who requires babying to even survive and won't start contributing a damn until everyone's already left her behind. I get it there are a lot of flying units on conquest, but are they really that hard to take down that you even need more than one or two bow users? Pretty sure anyone with a beast killer can do the same thing as well as contribute on enemy phase rather than being a sitting duck. Not to mention that if you were to reclass any of them it takes a seal from someone who wants it more. Conquest is not the best route to take if you want to customize your units. Without DLC, gold is so limited in conquest, and I find that most of it goes to staves and seals so asking me to waste money on an expensive and impractical weapon seems a bit much much less dump stat raisers on a unit who needs incessant babying to survive one round of combat. Fo the record i'm not saying bow users are bad on conquest but I think you are severely overestimating how important they actually are.
  8. My only advice to you is that if you must use Arthur, get him to another class ASAP. Venerability to crits is probably one of the worst traits a character can have ( especially considering how trolly is in fates when it comes to hit and crit% for enemies) Hero while a less popular pick is far more balanced, and he can still make use of axes and have a decent crit% (though I would never rely on them in a pinch) and it fits his personality far better. As for the rest of the pairings. Leo optimally wants to be with Nyx because of that mag and speed boost, but Felicia works fine too Charlotte and Xander is practical but boring and kinda overdone tbh Not so sure about Niles x Nyx since Nina takes a blow to her skill, luck and strength so i hope your planning to go the magic route with her Laslow x peri is fine but the resulting is nothing really special Silas X Mozu should be fine and aptitude helps out some but Mozu's main inheritance stat is skill which is of dubious help to Sophie already being well balanced and all. In short there all pretty practical and standard as other have mentioned but they'll get the job done. Side note: it may be helpful if you tell us what class the kids will be in as well. Edit: If you haven't already, an inheritance planner can be very useful for is sort of stuff. Heres one I really like and find quite helpful: https://inheritance-planner.herokuapp.com
  9. Meant to being the key word there but in practice they failed to balance it out properly so what we end up getting are units who are unfairly outclassed because the devs couldn't so simple math/ realize the implications of the system they made and the effect it would end up having. Let me make this as clear as day, my problem with con is that is a mechanic biased in male units favor, it allows them to double with better weapons while females are forced to use weaker weapons if they don't want to lose AS. Forcing certain units based on a variable (in this case con ) to suffer while other units without that problem to supersede their allies of the same class. That is NOT balanced design. Not much to argue seeing as that the stats back me up on that. the implication of this being that weapons with weights of 15 and up is balanced design. I consider fates approach far more balanced as it effects all units equally instead of selectively punishing certain units if a unit is already slow as a snail they literally have nothing to gain from con ether, they will still be doubled by pretty much everything under the sun so no con does not improve their durability. .........(screams internally)......... Actually that right there seems like a PERFECT reason to discredit and write off con as a bullshit mechanic because there is literally ZERO downside to having low con (aside from rescue) and ALL upside to having high con, and that right there is bias, con is a mechanic that screws over female units and the devs did nothing to compensate for it. As i've already said, higher speed growths and caps don't mean a damn thing when your AS plummets over 7 points from using a weapon that a male unit can double with soley thanks to con.. (see my example of this with Isadora, Kent and Sain. there's a reason @Shadow Mir and I keep bringing her up, she's the perfect example of the evident bias towards males of a unisex class and the inherent unfairness of con ) It screws over characters and makes them inferior to other units of the same class (usually males) and that right there is terrible, biased design. not if your doing 5 or less damage per hit. Too bad the statistics don't agree with you on that one. Seriously how can people argue that con is balanced when the info that disproves that is on this site and very readily available. I literally posted the stats here. on this page. that clearly indicated that faster units with less con suffer far more than units with lower speed and higher con if that wasn't evidence enough for you you can look the stats up yourself on the main site under the "average stats tab" on the blazing sword page. As a side note we may have to just create a separate topic for this if this debate is going to last much longer.
  10. Game freak realized that they have more fans in their 20s than kids today whose heads are in their phones. While I didn't see the movie when it came out I did see it after the fact and man is it a cringe fest without those nifty rose colored glasses. Also top secret footage from the board room about game freak and Hollywood exec's reasoning to remake the movie.
  11. Did you even read my previous post? This argument is so easy to debunk it's a wonder why people even try to defend con. Except that......it doesn't, also comparing Dorcas, a character that will never double ANYTHING to a character that can double ( It depends on her weapon since pretty much anything but a slim lance weighs her down....) is a false comparison. What I was saying in my first post is that when compared to males of the same class they have a huge advantage over their female counterparts when it come to doubling and welding better weapons with less penalty. Again, why are you bother to compare tow units that have zero in common, especially when one of them is one of the worst units in the game. Doesn't do a whole lot for your argument. Further more peg is female exclusive, so there is no male counterpart to compare them to which was the crux of my argument, being that males ultimately benefit a whole lot more form higher con than higher speed growth and caps. As previously mentioned this is a false comparison since the main argument is that it so that males of a certain class have a biased, unfair upper hand on their female counterparts. See my previous post, statistics don't lie. Promoted Florina has 5 con, a javelin has a weight of 11 meaning thats -6, thats a big deal. This again? growths and caps don't mean squat if all but one or two weapons kill that advantage, (see my previous post regarding the 3 main paladins AS with a steel lance and you'll see what I mean)
  12. This...whole thing... just...the whole thing. In theory yes, it sounds balanced, but in practice it is most definitely not the case, con has always been very much in favor of male units. Let's look at the facts. In FE 7 , con is almost universally favors any male unit of a non gender specific class and whether or not it was intentional or not, men have higher con implies the regressive, harmful notion of "women aren't built for fighting" so yes, con is a stat completely biased in the male units favor. First let's look at the total con of all male units vs female units Females: 70 (there is literally one female in the game with a con above ten, that being Vaida) Males: 279 and that's not even counting merlinus massive 25 con or promotions either. already there is a massive discrepancy in con based on gender, secondly the averages for con based on gender are females: 5.3 Males: 9 (again calculations were made based on base stats without promotional gains taken into account) that's a difference of roughly 4 con, and that's more than enough to slow the majority of females what with fe 7s weapons being as heavily as they are. So essentially males get off scot free using stronger heavier weapons and potentially doubling with them versus female units essentially being forced by the game to use lighter weaker weapons and subsequently doing less damage. Again it sounds balanced in theory, but in practice its still biased towards males and the whole notion of "females can double later on because of their higher speed growth and caps" is, from a statistical point of view, false. As @l'arachel already mentioned, Isadora gets completely screwed over by her con being so low and her speed growth and cap do little to salvage that. Let's look at Sean and Kent's speed growth and cap in the game as well as their AS with a Steel lance for comparison Isadora: con: 6 Average speed at Level 20: 25 growth: 50% AS: 18 Kent con: 11 Average speed at level 20: 24 Growth: 45% AS: 22 Sain Con: 11 Average speed at level 20: 22 growth: 40% AS: 20 In the end, Isadora's better speed growth and cap do jack squat for her when compared to Kent and Sain who both have lower speed growths and caps than her. So with this info taken into account, if Isadora wants to double consistently she has to wield ethier a slim or iron lance and consequently she's not doing as much damage as them ether. Not to mention that both of male paladins have better def so she does'nt really offer any advantages over the other two, which means she's probably going to get benched. In short, con is heavy biased towards males and ends of screwing many females in the same class, and weather or not the game was designed to be this way or if it's an unfortunate mistake, that facts still stand and the statistics don't lie.

  16. Any fog of war chapter, since they are an unfair bullshit mechanic that only artificially inflates the difficulty of the stage. In a game series where being aware of your surroundings is pivotal to your armies survival, I cannot understand why they decided to add a feature that throws that out the window and asks you to blindly move your units across enemy infested territory and inevitably have a squishy get jumped by five enemies all at once. and cause a reset. Dishonorable mentions go to "Arcadia" (Chapter 14 FE 6) for being both a FoW and a desert map meaning you progress at a slugs pace if you don't want to get units killed, not to mention the turn requirement to get the gaiden chapter. Finally as someone who has a soft spot for Sophia and actually attempts to use her, this map isn't doing her viability any favors. Edit: Pretty much all of Genealogy for its extreme favoritism for horses meaning if your not mounted, or have some special niche you're getting benched, which kind cuts the roster down quite a bit.
  17. I have a question regarding the "Site content" forum, I have come across some info about the Longbow (SoV) "Enclosure" combat art. The info it self is not game breaking but I thought it was at least noteworthy. Would it be appropriate for me to make a topic solely containing said info, or would it be better just to notify a staff member? Thank you in advance. -Sage of the Mist
  18. So I was doing an SoV run and I had just recruited Emma and Randal when I realized that I had only ever gotten those two once before, despite buying both DLCs at the same time. Personally i'm a fan of shade and how she's almost a "Camilla in reverse" type character who appears seductive and collected but isn't. For some odd reason I found that very charming and refreshing, hence why I recruit her on pretty much every play through ( That and having a second healer on Celica's route certainly helps take the load off from poor Genny) where as i've only ever recruited Emma and Randal twice. Not to say their bad units, they most certainly aren't but I was wondering if anyone else had a favorite DLC unit. It could be based on performance in battle , appearance, personality, voice ETC. The only guide lines are: You must explain why you choose said character. (albeit not in great detail if you don't want to) Be respectful of others and their opinions.

  20. I'm not sure how I exactly feel about Pokemon Let's go, was kinda hoping for a "new" gen you know? Regardless i'll still buy it, from what i've seen it looks like its in kanto and i'd take a stroll down nostalgia lane there anytime.
  21. Oh I love spinda, it's so cute! A shame I just can't find a niche for it in my team, maybe I could use it for contests....

  23. I rarely use raigh and I grind Sophia beacuse bias, well that and I ship her and Roy, Niime is a great staffbot but I dont have a whole lot to say about her otherwise.
  24. Well somewhat, I usually get Nils to level 10 in 7x so Ninian doesn't have a super long way to go, especially if your me and you spam the crap out of dancers. I also use her dance to gain supports.
