  1. Oh yeah, by the way, this thread reminds me, I made my younger brother age 14 (at the time, it was like a year ago) play Sacred Stones. He enjoyed it but he could not have made it without me. Galaxy Brain still places mages right in front of enemies to attack with them, meanwhile my other brother, who's even younger, has beaten FE6 HM.
  2. I love Eirika. She's a kind, vulnerable soul who just needs emotional support to alleviate the issues of her royal life and the pain of war, along with the people who were lost during it. She's also really pretty. All she needs is a hug. I also think she's a decent unit. Gameplay-wise tho that award definitely goes to Sigurd. Man's a beast.
  3. Idk man, I personally like salty and sour things most. That's why I like this character in the first place.
  4. I actually have sheets where I drew the portraits for an entire original cast for an entirely new idea for a game set in distant future Jugdral. I have a fetish for imagining game narratives and concepts.
  5. Yeah, it shows how flexible his character is, pretty much.
  6. My younger brother once played on easy mode. I very clearly remember Kyle one-rounding Heroes with a Slim Lance. Oh yeah, and Berserkers having like, 28 HP also.
  7. She's also obnoxious about it which doesn't help. Can't say much about Clair but Catria's character in FE11/12 at least is not centered around liking Marth. So yeah, she works. There's hints here and there and we know she is hopeless about it but she doesn't, like, simp for him or anything. She just does her own thing with the unrequited love being on the side of it all.
  8. Oops, yeah you're probably right. I knew SOMETHING arrived late but I completely forgot Pablo existed despite being a generic boss who appears more than once. Then in that case yeah it really is questionable exactly how fast did Alastor beat this chapter to miss Cormag.
  9. No, definitely not turn 4. Especially not if you have to WAIT some time to be able to kill the boss and recruiting him. My memory tells me that he shows up around turn 10. I believe you gotta spend 13 (or 15) turns to beat the chapter and Cormag shows up around the last two thirds of the map. But yeah, he doesn't show up that early. Maybe he starts moving on turn 4 Ephraim route but defi itely not Eirika route.
  10. Zeiss X Elen is really cute. A shame only Roy is allowed to have his harem. Fir X Noah is neat too, because I'm boring like that. Of course there's also Thea X Klein, or Raigh X Sophia, Igrene X Astore... the list goes on, really, and it definitely convinces me that whenever a remake comes out these pairs will definitely gets endings.
  11. I love Saul. Second favorite FE6 character for me. He seems like a hopeless womanizer at first. Even worse, is that he's a priest who's supposed to show a good image of the church. But it turns out the man is... a really good priest. He genuinely gives good advice to some people and at any rate, he's actually pretty smart and can get his way in any situation, that is, any situation that doesn't involve getting a woman to like him. I also like Saul's role in the story. He's not very relevant past chapter 6, but his presence within Roy's army solidifies its ties with the Elimine Church, which comes back to help Roy later. And as attested by Yoder later during Chapter 21, Saul really is serious about his duties. TL;DR Saul is just a better Sain.
  12. Ok so I'm now onto Chapter 26 in my current FE9 ironman. Been a pretty smooth run so far except for a few bumps. Some people died, Namely, in that order, Shinon (Not recruited, he was deliberately killed because I didn't bother bringing an untrained rolf in a map where I would risk losing him), Kieran (Chapter 20, he was super unlucky in that ALL the lances in the area hit him, and then the archer who got the finisher), and Soren (Chapter 23, not because of any of the bridge's pitfalls, but because after he one-shot one of the ballistas with Bolting, the stone catapult sniper moved onto it and crit him). Aside from that, Marcia, Astrid, Oscar and Zihark have been carrying this run really hard, and Boyd, Ike and Tanith are being beasts in their own right. I'm also using Muarim because I gave him Smite and Ranulf to fill up my deployments. Mist is also being good, now if I can just get her to B rank swords, she can start using the sonic sword and actually be good at fighting.
  13. Ok listen here, I love Eirika. To me she would be best girl if Fiora didn't exist, but it is hard to rate her as a unit honestly. So let's first look at her pros. She's fast, that coupled with generally good luck make sher dodgy, not to mention the fact that she doubles consistently if levelled. She also starts with the Rapier. If the Rapier was so great in FE6 then it is better here, with higher might, weaker enemies and triple effectiveness, so Eirika has an easy time one-rounding cavaliers and knights, which she always doubles (few exceptions when it comes to cavs). Her strength is not amazing but not to the point where I'd consider terrible, her growth is alright in it and you have a number of Energy Rings that you can give her, especially if most your other units have no offense issues. Her supports also help her, and she has a lot of them. Right off the bat she supports the best unit in the game (although personally I don't like the Eirika X Seth ship, I'm more of a Eirika X Forde guy). Oh, and finally, when she promotes, she gets a horse, and Sieglinde. Now for the cons... she has bad Con. The only swords she can initially wield without any speed penalties are the Rapier, Iron Sword and Shamshir. Now with how fast she is, you might think that no matter how weighed down she is, she still should be fine, but that's where her average strength comes into play. She needs heavier swords to deal more reliable damage, but those might weigh her down enough to push her under the doubling threshold. Also, she's not that tanky. She shares this problem with Lyn, although with Eirika she does have a much better time, with one more base defense and resistance, and a higher defense growth (fun fact, Eirika has a better defense grlwth than all the unpromoted cavaliers in the game), but she still won't be able to survive that many battles, even if given a dracoshield (although an angelic robe does help slightly better). Finally, she is swordlocked, which might just be the strongest argument against her, so no 1-2 range and generally, low might. Despite those cons I do not consider Eirika a bad unit. She has her uses (especially as a convoy), and she can fare decently on the battlefield if invested in, and it's easier to do that than one might think. Especially after Promotion. I'd compare her performance to Roy, except there's no point in the game where I consider her to be all that bad, and she certainly can be capable of dealing with enemies when needed. I say she's good, not like, fantastic or anything but slightly above average.
  14. So it's been since like... last week since I started a FE9 IronMan. I know, easy game, blah blah, but this is my first IronMan and I feel like I need to go easy for this one... although... I am now past chapter 17 and no deaths so far. There were a few close calls and difficult situations that had me on the edge of my seat or trying to pull Mekkah-Dondon big brain strats, but I'd say so far the experience is a blast. There's also some sort of burden that's been taken off by the fact that I won't be resetting if someone dies, meaning that I don't have to sacrifice any other good progress just for that. So far my army is pretty good, now I wish Astrid had more than 15 strength as a level 2 Paladin, or that Oscar could stop looking mediocre compared to everyone else, but I've also gotten juggernauts like Marcia and Kieran. Soren has also... impressively been good. I never used him before because he always turned out eh to me but this time he decided to get good. And I'm not complaining.
  15. Just play Path of Radiance, bro. It's a great game. Have not played RD yet but hey maybe you'll get into it.
  16. Brom needs to be in Heroes. And so do other Tellius people. Where the hell is Zihark... or Marcia? BOYD.
  17. Shinon. Just Shinon. Dude is just here to be an asshole. For no good reason. He's also racist, pompous and arrogant, and really not that interesting a character other than that. He has a cool design, I'll give him that, but other than that I just hate the guy more than anyone else in the series. Alec ain't far behind tho. I never liked how he preys on Arden's vulnerabilities to begin with, but the actual reason I dislike him is because of personal experience within my first FE4 playthrough. He hit it off with Sylvia as I was trying to grind her love rank with Claud. Unforgivable, RIP Valkyrie Staff.
  18. Shadow Dragon/New Mystery: Merric/Elice. Genealogy Gen 1: Erynis (Or Ferry, Fury, Erin, whatever you wanna call her, I usually prefer Ferry but I used Erynis because that's the official name apparently)/Finn. Genealogy Gen 2: Arthur/Julia. Thracia 776: Sarah/Dean. Binding Blade: Lilina/Saul. Blazing Sword: Fiora/Wil. Sacred Stones: Forde/Eirika. Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn: Zihark/Elincia. Three Houses: Sylvain/Annette (I guess? I have not played the game all that much yet but so far that's what I think).
  19. I'm currently playing through my first Ironman run (which I am doing on FE9) and I am actually pleasantly surprised that no single unit died yet despite the number of dangerous situations I found myself in already, and I've come a long way. Learning about trading weapons around to equip them for enemy phase and rescue-dropping really did me some good. But there was a time where I just wasn't like that. I remember full well in that first playthrough where I used Fiora I placed her smack in the middle of a silver bow's range, that was really dumb. Never got her killed since then, tho, at least, and nowadays she just continues to always be my best unit in every single FE7 playthrough I make. As much as I really sucked back then though, I was still attached to the series anyway, and here I am.
  20. Here's a Top 20, I guess. 20. Tanith: As a unit, I find reinforce to be a pretty great skill to have and it definitely gives her a really cool niche, nevermind the fact that her bases and weapon ranks are godly anyway. I also think her design's pretty cool and her tenure and personality is befitting of a high-ranking Pegasus Knight. 19. Nailah: I just think she looks really good. Her design manages to make her look somewhat graceful but dangerous at the same time. 18. Giffca: The hero we need, not the one we deserve. Always have him finish off Ashnard. I also just realized he kinda looks like Duessel from FE8, so that's cool too. 17. Tauroneo: Tellius' version of the big and thicc daddy General. Imposing figure in the army and just a decent guy in general. I like his supports with Largo too. 16. Jill: Perhaps one of the most developed characters in the duology and I feel she has a really good character arc, told through the base conversations throughout FE9, even her supports with Lethe. She's also a flier in a game with super canto, so hey. 15. Devdan: He's just really funny. I actually used him in my first playthrough and gave him the Knight Ward too, he turned out pretty good. Also has some surprisingly deep supports that I really like. 14. Ike: I believe he is one of the best written lords in the series, and it would he too long an explanation to talk about it here, but yeah, that. 13. Gatrie: Funny hopeless womanizer is funny. Kinda sad about his Radiant Dawn ending but can't win em all. Not that great as a unit but I just like presence, unlike his companion. 12. Haar: He's cool. I like how he's the sleepy lazy guy but at the same time he also has the mannerisms and responsibilities of a proper captain. Sounds like someone who knows how to manage his priorities. 11. Kieran: Super Loyal Knights who don't question their orders are pretty boring in FE, but Kieran's level of loyalty is pretty hilarious. It's endearing how silly he sounds sometimes although he tries to sound valliant and epic. 10. Mia: Idk what I like about her specifically, I just think she's alright, and it is cool that her motives for getting stronger are different than other myrmidons in the series, that and the fact that she joins the Greil Mercs at the end of FE9, I think it's cool too. I also really like how she looks as a SwordMaster in FE9, for some reason I always found that model really good-looking. 9. Tormod: I did use him once, and he was super fun and surprisingly easy to train, that and celerity is just so good. Like the childish and determined idealist resolve he's got too, it's cute. 8. Black Knight: Not gonna spoil anything here for anyone who's unaware of the whole story but he might just be one of the best villains in the series to me (still doesn't quite beat Travant for me tho). 7. Sanaki: The Empress of the most powerful nation on the continent is a young girl barely in her teens as of Radiant Dawn, who is very mature for her age and clearly a better ruler than the entirety of the senate, and that is no exaggeration. 6. Mist: I just think she's a good part of Ike's growth as a character throughout FE9 and her dialogue is nice. Also love the positive attitude she brings. She's got cute interactions with everyone she talks to, as well. (Unrelated but quite recently it just dawned on me that Mist kinda looks like You Watanabe from Love Live, or the other way around, and dammit I cannot get this comparison out of my head now) 5. Boyd: Just an all around lovable brute who's got a good heart but a questionable way of showing affection. He's a good boy. Boyd X Mist is also a cute ship. One of the most fun units to use in FE9 (and thankfully, a Fighter who doesn't suck like most other ones in the series). 4. Oscar: Big brother to two, just like me. I like his history of working with the Crimean Knights for a while and he's a really nice and wholesome guy. Although most Green cavs are known to be chill, I like how Oscar is also abnormally chill while speaking to Tanith of all people too, someone he shouldn't be making mistakes with. 3. Marcia: Whenever she appears she just has the power to make me smile. Equipped with the world's most powerful dictionary and an incredibly big target vessel for her to use it on (Makalov), she's just such a damn joy to have around. She always turns into one of my best units. I also really, absolutely love how she looks in Radiant Dawn. 2. Elincia: Both a Figurative and Literal Queen. Elincia has arguably the best character growth in the duology where she learns everything about the world and how it works and becomes a good ruler who prioritizes her country above all else even when the right decision is hard to make. Also flying staff-user, not something you see everyday. 1. Zihark: Anti-racism swordsman who just gets along with anyone. I'd like to be his friend, and I really like his Radiant Dawn character arc during Part 3. He's also really friendly and just someone you really wanna hang out with. He's also probably the SwordMaster I've had the most fun using in any game. Although not my favorite FE character in general, he is right behind Fiora as second best. Love the man.
  21. Imo Camuses would work better if they had something at stake if they disobeyed their evil twisted lieges. Kinda like Eagler in FE7 Lyn mode, who it's implied he was forced into it (of course FE7 being FE7 we never found out exactly how he was forced). In Eldigan's case, I think that him turning against Sigurd was... only so very loosely justified? At this point, all the Agustrian lords (or what remains of them) were against the Grannvale occupation, and while you can argue that Eldigan could've sided with Sigurd and become King of Agustria himself, it's kinda hard to see how the hell he's gonna rebuild that country himself when he has no support from any other Agustrian territory whatsoever, having only a handful of civilians at best. Doesn't justify his actions but I feel that makes sense. Camus is just dumb tho. In Selena's case, she does say later on everything Vigarde has done to her and her family and that's a way of really clarifying why she's so loyal to him, on a personal level. Unfortunate as the fact that she still doesn't budge may be, she is not one of those cases where you question why she didn't choose to change sides.
  22. Hoo boy, Chapter 5 is next. In the entire FE8 early-game, I'd say that might be the hardest chapter if you're willing to go for all the objectives. Do be careful with that. I could give advice if you wanted but I'm not willing to spoil anything unless you're ok with it, so...
  23. Seth has 11 Con, which is the generic paladin con, which still allows him to wield Steel Swords without a penalty, and Steel Lances with only -2 AS, which is negligible in the grand scheme of things, not to mention 11 is also the weight stat of Javelins, so there is no drawback to using those in big quantities. So yeah , Seth should be doing pretty amazingly well, in fact.
