  1. Broke: Infantry is bad because they can'y keep up with mounts. Woke: Mounts are bad because they leave the infantry behind.
  2. Of course both are still recommended as long as they don't hinder any deployment slots, obviously. That means they'll be able to prticipate in rescue chains together. Part of me wishes they could support, even, so that deploying them together would entail even better performance for both.
  3. Agree with @Icelerate. You could argue that Lyn already gets a lot of characterization in the beginning of her story but also keep in mind that this isn't a fair comparison to deduce that Lyn is more emotional than Eirika is. Lyn grew up as a Sacaen Nomad (granted a lot of them are still stone-faced), whereas Eirika was raised as a princess. I'd imagine that Eirika's upbringing just automatically makes her more acquianted to diplomacy, and of course she'd be more polite and gentle compared to someone who spent their childhood on the plains. If anything Eirika's portrayal is very consistent with what we know about her so far, and it makes sense that this is how she speaks to Hayden. I do agree though that the other characters also being oddly calm in this situation kinda hurts her in that context, though. It is in-character for Vanessa because I'm pretty sure it's a "quirk" of hers to be somewhat devoid of emotion but it is fresh to see Ross and Dad Ross.
  4. First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who's worked on these for providing us with easy access to such a great manga. There is only one thing I would like to know, however... does chapter 44 contain any big plot points that cannot be skipped to keep the context intact? Because that's where I left off last time but last time I checked it was unavailable. If it turns out that it shouldn't be skipped, then I'll gladly wait as long as it takes for it to go back up, but I just want to acquire the information. Other than that, keep up the good work!
  5. Not just bases, but his overall contribution to your success especially on Hard mode. Although Zealot has the better bases he is not as useful as Marcus is because Marcus was around since forever, while Zealot joins at a time where you already have Marcus and is an extra Jeigan. And even if you field him at a time where his combat is bad, one thing that he never loses is his class.
  6. Can't blame them tho, Roman Empire was hella powerful. If I had an empire I sure would like it to be as prestigious as that.
  7. Chapter 12 isn't even that hard anyway so you could argue he's good there too despite the fact that this is pretty much the point where your units become self-sufficient. Chapter 13 is definitely not tho, I think that chapter is the point where some enemies become super powerful.
  8. Fair enough. Although I wouldn't say it's because FE8 is short. 20-ish chapters is still enough time to develop a character so they could've made use of that, since they introduce him early on anyway.
  9. What about attacking at night is bad, though? Isn't that the better thing to do since that's the time where everyone is supposed to be the most vulnerable? I don't see how that detracts from Riev's character (although among the villains he IS the least interesting but I don't think this moment in particular is the reason).
  10. I'm pretty sure Lyon was planning to destroy all the Sacred Stones anyway, so I guess he maybe thought that dispatching a bunch of red units to Frelia to at least clear the way a little was a good idea? I mean, the boss of this chapter straight up goes to the fort itself, maybe to make it a base or something, and I guess you don't really need all that much manpower to just take the border and plan your next move from there. Notice how after this chapter no map ever takes place in Frelia ever again. It's like us being here basically stopped any of Grado's hopes of taking Frelia forever thanks to the fact that we beat them there, so that kinda makes sense? But then, that means that there is no way Tana could have heard of the invasion. Oh well.
  11. Tbh thestory in FE8 makes way more sense to me than FE7's. The problem might just be the actual interaction with Eph and Eirika, compared to Eliwood/Hector/Lyn. It's not a top-tier story but I think it holds up well enough.
  12. Empire just sounds high-and-mightier than plain old "country" anytime of the day, really. They also needed you to know that "hey, this country is about to go to war, just so you know". Most supreme enemy countries you fight in FE are called Empires too, right? Some exception I can think of is like, Bern, or even Daein, that's it.
  13. Last time I checked, tho, FE8 enemies are actually slightly stronger than FE7, right? I can hardly really call the rabble you fight in that game anything close to a thread, but to my experience, FE8 enemies aren't entirely helpless. Seth is just that good.
  14. Oh boy, FE8 it is now. It's my second favorite in the series alongside FE6, all the more reason to see someone else's scope! Also curious to see your stance on the lords in some later cutscenes, since they're my personal favorites in the series and I know there's some fucking controversy somewhere. Good luck for this.
  15. My vote goes to Grannvale. It's the home country of Sigurd, who you quickly get attached to, but near the end of Gen 1 and for the whole of Gen 2, it becomes enemy territory. There's more to it than that, of course. Grannavle has multiple territories governed by a handful of lords. Each of these have a specific leitmotif or even their own proficiency among their ranks. Dozel has the Neir Holy Blood, so its army is mostly axe users. Velthomer is Vala Holy Blood, and they have mages who specialize in Fire Magic. Friege is also a prominent housein both Jugdral games, you get playable characters who come from it, and many of the powerful figures of the Grannvale Empire during Arvis's rule are Friege nobles, like Bloom, Ishtore, Ishtar, etc. It's also located smack in the dead center of Jugdral, making it a potential stage for many events. The war against Isaach, the Verdane Campaign, the Battle of Belhalla... Even within FE5, which completely happesns in the Thracian peninsula, Grannvale is still an omnipresent force around the corner, as the main occupation force here. Saias is an imposing figure among the troops, and he's from Velthomer. This is also the time where Bloom is still in power around Manster. I just think Grannvale really has a lot going for it in both games. That's why I feel it really is the most developed country in the series, but not necessarily my favorite, that title probably goes to Silesse.
  16. I still don't think res is that important tho. Mages are usually far less common than physical enemies, so having good defense is usually a better thing than having good res. I do understand that having good res is a niche in older games (Heck Seliph and Ares in FE4 have a lot of it which does really help them), but ultimately you can usually figure out a way to not have a mage kill you. Whereas that mage may still be part of a group of, idk, Paladins. Not to say res doesn't help sometimes, it's still a nice bonus, but I don't think it should be taken into consideration when, like, rating a unit's usability.
  17. Even if she joined earlier, well Bors is kinda still better than her and he isn't that great either... yeah. That's obviously ignoring the fact that she's an armor knight.
  18. Bad units are never a problem in FE unless they're the only units. That's it. Wanna use a bad unit then cool, you like imposing that challenge upon yourself. You don't like them? Well, bench them and use the better units instead, and you'll win for sure, so all the power to you! FE6 has about enough good units to warrant some bad units sprinkled here and there. FE6 without any bad units and just great units would honestly just be boring. Every single playthrough I start I decide on a bad unit who I want to be the star. I once used Wendy, and then Dorothy. Next playthrough I'll go another extra mile and try my hand at making Sophia good. You don't need to do this, tho. People like me just appreciate these filler units and having them doesn't hurt the people who don't like them. So yeah.
  19. You just made me realize that during FE4, every single nation is an enemy at some point. There's the war against Isaach in the opening narration (even though you never really fight them yourself), the two Verdane chapters, and then the two Agustria ones, and then Silesian factions, Grannvale itself, and in Gen 2, there's the Yied army, Manster District, Thracia, and Miletos. There's enemies who come from everywhere. FE6 sorta has the same thing, where you travel through the entire continent. It kinda sucks that not all of it was used in FE7, tbh. Would've liked a battle on the Western Isles other than the Armads chapter.
  20. "The" is such a useless pronoun. Why the hell did those who came up with the english language ever think that "The" would be a good idea? "The". THE worst word in the dictionary.
  21. I feel like Marth is also good at fighting in FE12, so you may want him to do just that while a thief feeds on the locks.
  22. Many people also say Jugdral's writing is great. Which I of course agree with.
  23. Does everyone think that tho? To me, it seems more like the other stats are more important, tbh. If anything, in the Archanea games, no one knows what res is yet no one is a bad unit there because of the severe lack of res on most units. I feel like res is just here to give you a way to explain the fact that magic is more effective than physical weapons on physical fighters. If anything, FE5 doesn't have any res and instead merges it with the magic stat. If there is one stat that I could remove from a stat sheet, it would be res.
  24. Ephraim and Eirika seem like I could talk to them like I would my irl friends. I know this from their interactions with Lyon.
  25. I think assuming this stretches beyond the canon, tho. It's just easier to just say that he's human but being a shaman who didn't get possessed by dark magic early on gave him the knowledge needed to make his own life longer somewhere down the line? Everyone else who uses dark magic in Elibe is apparently either just consumed by it (Canas's brothers) or just die (Canas, although not because of Dark Magic specifically), but even then Niime exists so that probably doesn't work anyway, because she sure as hell looks like she might drop dead any minute in a year or two after FE6, while Nergal doesn't look nearly as old. Dammit. What's Nergal's deal anymore? Yeah let's just say he's secretly a dragon and call it a day.
