  1. The head size is mostly okay...but I don't think hair works like that, even by anime standards. Even the most ridiculous hairs have a certain flow...unless, I mean...you're going for the toupee look.

I recommend doing something like this.

Do some foreshortening on his body and beefing him up a little. You'd also have to angle the open part of his shirt too, but it'll be worth when you get it 95%.

Also helped a little on the hair shape. It was just falling flat on top.

You're currently just look like the first one. Blank...devoid of expression. Eyes have personality, unless they're all just spacing out on shrooms.

  4. Yeah pretty much Etain, although I don't see how that's any more a problem than a simple three part splice. Except wait, the body is full custom. I've always wondered why people don't try splicing their customs together.

Because if we sprite a custom, it's a pretty good chance that the mug is specialized in design for that character. And why splice that custom onto another character if we can custom the next with a unique design?

  5. Nuh uh! It's publicly accepted...go to the beach. :b

I missed Funday Friday due to the holiday (which I hope everyone had a good one). So here's a late update for that.

This was going to be a video, but I stopped it at this point...and I didn't upload because no one wants to see line art being made-- you want the good stuff aka shading. Oh well though. Maybe one day I'll finish this mug. lol

EDIT: The Ref is Pi's thing. Just getting an example of wrap shading.

  6. well, the falling flat doesn't mean that the curls need the outline color to define the curls. It means that the curls are just coming out..flat.

  7. I kind of second Kai. It just looks like her hair disappears, like she shaved it after the poofy strand. Lol.

Superb job on the rest of it though. That blending makes me jelly.

Edit: oh and her ear could go down a pixel or two.

  8. Woot! I remember your older things. It's been a WHILE. Lol

Your general shading has definitely improved. :) you hair is very strand defined, but there is a lack of depth. The light source is too flat on the hair, but dynamic on the rest of your sprites. Easy fix: darken on the far side more and a little less on the near side.

  9. Her body is tiny, like that of a child's. Her "cleavage" shouldn't be creeping onto her neck. Is that supposed to be a flower? Or a Louisiana 1800s debutant feather thing? If the latter, it's really dinky. The hair concept is nice, but the execution makes it look like her curls are falling flat, which may be what you were going for. The armor looks more like crinkled paper than armor. Also, the blonde palette is better. The red's darkest shade is too light and the three shades really blend together in a bad way. And the eyes are too bright like she got some headlights for eyes. Yellow eyes tend to do that though...it's a particular color that is difficult to palette for irises.

  10. Yeah, it's looking pretty slick now. Could definitely be improved more, but it's very passable. The wonders of a good palette though. Might be a good idea to practice with them and get a good feel for the saturations viable for FE sprites. <3

  11. They're definitely flat, yeah. Angle the far side a little, but it is kinda hard because you're a little pushing the color limit there.

Edit: A little better, but yeah, still angle the far side. Remember to AA the lines too with those gray colors. It'll be the best smoothing you can get with your palette.
