I agree with less is more if it’s not padding. Characterizing characters requires not just battle but conflict about everything including their slice of life. You can see that growth and fleshed out character when their nemesis attacks their greatest weaknesses. Writing characters who don’t struggle is just boring. Sylvain and Ingrid have fantastic support because Sylvain feels women uses him for his crest and even flirted with Ingrid grandmother and she called him out on it. Hilda is another because of expectation from her family. Her brother is a war hero and everyone expects great things from her and that why she doesn’t want to go on the battlefield and work in school. Because it would translate to her family knowing she has good results and thus higher expectations from her. Trim unnecessary fluff or words in translation and if you can achieve the same thing you were trying to say the better. There is no reason a C support should be a 2 parter between C and B support. I’d rather write a fanfic chapter of about 1500 words with quality and quantity over 4500 words that basically are the same but padded

This is so true. As someone who did a nuzlocke and ironman run recently I can say that I agree 100%. The point of strategy is to create a plan about the information you have and make a success out of it. Making the difficulty of a map rely on turn wheel is bs game design. If they had spot on the map like stairs or door to give a vague ideas that this could potentially happen I could accept that and say it’s my fault for not paying attention enough but when it doesn’t even gives you clue it just bs programming. If I wanted to not have all the info for my strategy I’d play dnd or any old rpg with random encounter to get f over

Yup I prefer flawed character also. I’ll take a relatable protagonist everyday of the week over a Mary Sue. The only Mary I’ll even consider worth having a vague interest is those who earned it by working their butts off and deserve it. Especially if they are called out on their mistakes making the other character useful. This shows that power doesn’t fix everything.

I was talking about the avatar that intys is so fond of to clarify. My point is for these still stands as it reeks of plot armor and devalues the MC regardless of avatar making mistakes and being hold accountable. Pain breeds growth and if the character don’t fuck up they can’t learn from it. Hence if the world stop with Byleth gone it plot armor and Mary Sue lvl of fanfic. As much as my user name reeks of fanfic level tip I genuinely hate Naruto over protectiveness of Sasuke to point where a war almost started because he beg the raikage and he got a slap on the wrist in the form of a panic attack. Point is if the world wait for Byleth every time it’s not realistic as people are fighting they won’t care about this random merc their leader is fond of just because.

That the problem with MC Avatar. They have to be Mary Sues. This is they forgot that to make a living breathing world character have to die or leaves via any means like Keyblade without making the world be like : yo Byleth the world cannot unpause without you. If removing any character causes this effect than it not an MC that you have it a plot device. A good thing good writers will do is create a fanfic level character and see if removing this random is inconsequential. If not we’ll you know something is wrong in your writing. Best way to vote is with your wallet then. Eventually they WILL HAVE NO CHOICE TO GET IT. Sigh I need a break….

Hello I’m working on my fic which is a massive Xover and I’m entering the world of threes houses but I would like some help. My main hero team is this Naoto(OC and Naruto twin brother) Naruto Artoria and Aqua (KH) but the problem is that saved Byleth and revoked Sothis and her crestone via a stopga spell and Keyblade making her human. The problem is well Kostas has to live up to chapter 2. He and his mens ste facing 3keybladers (Aqua,Naoto,Naruto). 2 SSJ God (Naoto, Naruto) any ideas how you guys would fix this somewhat. Just to not more fuel to the fire. Can the games make the choice I chose relevant? I really hate that my choice are really unimportant unless a few. Example:Like in awakening why bother customize Robin is He/She have their defined choice or path decided. I think FE should not force a choice early on like 3Houses and Fates where there a lot of recycling. I have nothing against choosing a choose or side but I hate having to choose something only for it to almost never matter. Thatsthe point and considering three houses aesthetics it’s around the victorian era so having king not be replaced is just stupid. Hence why I hate Dimitri even more if not as much as Rhea. If it was around 1100 of human history I could buy it but when it’s more close historically to the 1800s it just stupid people don’t not have someone else rule. The problem is really the timeline of 3Houses really. There are the closest to entering modern era or industrial era so Rhea and Dimitri HELD ACCOUNTABLE. My point with dimitri is that he accuses of betrayal with no evidence. When Edelgard is confronted by him it basically ill put you head on the gates enbarh. My problem is that he never thought she could be blackmailed into it. My other is him not thinking his step mother would jailbreak Edelgard and die for it. That and he still can’t listen to reason as a hobo. As for an house to rule faerhush pick the lines of Ingrid Felix or even Sylvain to rule, there all nobles who are close friends to dimitri. You can tell it’s bad writing when people follow dimitri even if he is insane. Hell in irl he would have been ursuped unlike in game. They would have killed for his grudge against Edelgard. His entire insanity comes from Edelgard mother dying. Dimitri maybe your step mother sent herself to the wolves to save her only child that survived Agarthan expirements? The reason is where I live most switch games cost me 79,99$ plus 15% taxes so already base 3House or any switch games cost me 95,67$ and the season pass cost me 49,99$ plus 15% taxes yet again so I had to shell An extra 57,48$ for the season pass which cost me 152.78$ for the game and dlc just saying they should be more receptive if people pay that much for their game

True enough not a flop but they are dealing with world wide sales now. They should be aware of it and fix it. Instead they made corrin the focus and controversy it’s them from the west and then made 3Houses by falling in the school/ persona trope with a silent Avatar the problem was making sais avatar being the host of god aka Sothis to explain they sweeping under the rug. What I mean by flop is that they SHOVE THEIR POLITICAL POV IN IT. Fates had Japan vs west with Norh and Hoshido while vallah was the germany of this world. When controversy hit them they backed into the school/trope they love so much to avoid it only to still NOT UNDERSTAND their fans. This is what I mean by flopped. They got caught with their pants down overseas and tried to sweep it away with 3Houses. Hell even Fire emblem Warriors was made with awakening fates in mind with Lyn and celica in there. People wanted to see Ike, the black Knight ephraim, erika and so much more. Hell even their SMT Xover which is known Tokyo mirage sessions is a flop because of this reused cast overlooked and censorship because they didn’t think of the west. To me it is a flop especially rn because of the pandemic people are WAY LESS PATIENT for bs of ANY kind so rn they are threading in thin ice on in the west. If they don’t want to lose overseas audiences they NEED to understand them first before shelling another game. They are in the spotlight with Nintendo in the west so their future game should have western markets in minds foremost and tweaked for their Japanness version afterwards. FE has received too much exposure especially with the bad avatars to not avoid it anymore. This is why it is a flop in my book.

Exactly you should be a random non important officer. If you die it’s not that they didn’t succeed it’s that you die early thus cannot see how it ends. I have nothing against important character but if the avatar I’m forced to play as has to become important then I want to earn it. That way if the avatar marrie FCorrin got an example. Well the avatar earned its place and bonded with people and he might be the next king. I have nothing against important or OP avatar. I do Have a problem when it’s not deserved or justified. Edelgard needs Byleth also and causes massive harm by war to change fodlan but Rhea is never called out on it as much as el herself. Hanneman says it during the monastery exploration that she even banned small tech out of fear for no valid reason. What I hate is people bashing Edelgard but not Rhea in equal amounts since they both did horrible stuffs. Edelgard does since she wants to save people with only one side of the story while Rhea does for mommy approval from the grave. Hell both made horrible decisions but if you have to chose the lesser of the two evil I’d go Edelgard just because she takes seriously while rhea just want her bottle without caring about the consequences of her system and actions

To me threes houses world building is shit and character are never called out on their bs problems. Look at Rhea, she expiremented on people for her mother’s return but banned technology to avoid second coming of zanado but Solon managed to infiltrate her church. She made nemesis 10 elites heroes and never told the truth of it until way too late to be impactful. Hell she censored history for her benefit and the church is supposed to be a neutral party but they have an insane mommy girl who leads and when people question her about her misdeeds on Byleth she silences them. That not world building this is deus ex machina to fit the plot to make her the good route. Say what you will about fates world building but at the very they were honest about its lore being shitty unlike fodlan trying to sweep it under the rug with other mechanics and gameplay to hide it. Hell the Agarthan/Nabatean is just a massive cat fight of “ no your wrong fuck you and die for about a millennia

The support are stiff as hell. You don’t see the in between at all. The stiffness reeks of fanfic level writing in support. The game Should have been 4 separate games. Having fade to black in a important support to cut to different scenes is just bad. Ingrid and Bernadetta C support is Ingrid kicking her door off it’s hinges completely and she even warns her and then fade to black. Stiffness like this bad. 3Houses was announced at E3 2017 and it was still 2 years too early and it shows. Byleth is the most apparent to have suffered from it. They weren’t supposed to have their emotions and free will restored after merging with Sothis but don’t amount to much. So far what it amounts to is inty: cool story is going well. Boss we need the avatar. Oh shit turn Byleth in the avatar. Inty need to stop making the avatar the protagonist and unless they stop they won’t improve their story writing will go the same story route with just different contacts lense and gimmicks for all to see

It is in some aspects but that more of a shonen trope than anything.They should make the avatar a nobody. Besides on 3Houses wikia they started developing ideas on it on the 3ds. If anything is that they try new stuff but don’t fix what they didn’t fix prior. Also most Japanese avatar are silent protagonist a la persona while in these it’s more of D&D do really it’s that and culture differences in what is an avatar. They really need an oversea dev team to help them
