Exactly they market the game story before having good gameplay. I mean I love Fire emblem but 1: make good gameplay and map design that are challenging but fun then you can make character and story. The game tells you via Sothis to make your Own Choice (Byleth) following their heart and the HeartBeat at the Choice to Kill/Protect Edelgard is the heartbeat of Byleth. Sothis gave her powers to Byleth and became a fragment of Byleth. This also the route of the most of ´´Each action has Consequences’’ you see Rhea/Seiros going insane unable to revive her mom Sothis and not taking responsibility for creating a church and ideology to resurrect Sothis.Dimitri goes insane and dies against Edelgard for his family and stepmother death but the Agarthan and Arundel/Thales and Cornelia are responsible for this duscur. Rhea lies about the 10 Elite otherwise the church monopoly wouldn’t be exist. Edelgard is my favourite route because her ideologies and methods are questionable but her attitude is basically “ I know what I’m doing and what it is going to bring and accept the cost/responsibilities but can you to Rhea/Dimitri/Claude” her A support with Lysithea shows that she knows that she gonna dies because of experimentation on her but has a plan for an heir.

Yeah Threes houses has a couple bad story written moments but it’s character are god tier Writing. Exacly it destroys Edelgard part in this. Plus it would give some more unjustified reason to pin this on Byleth because you have to have a B support with Edelgard and do it on specific month and date therefore removing any point of the choice at the holy tomb. The have has this enough has it is we don’t that pinned on Byleth because someone think it ruins their choices as Byleth. I mean this second choice at the tomb is the best technically in the game for theses reasons. 1) : it actually matters what happens in the time skip. 2) : you have a connection to both side of the choice and saw Edelgard ascent to the throne. 3) the surprise factor is a big play, you’ve taught them for a year and now one of your student drops this bomb on ya. The choice is important enough with edelgard that her dad would ruin it completely

Gilbert is written really good. I think his writing is just a conflicted dad that tries his best to solve his problem via self exile but goes and solve is problems the wrong way. He runs away from them from the others perspective but from his position he doesn’t want people close to him to get hurt. That how most soldiers and proud dad solve theirs issues. Annette does the opposite she doesn’t run and accepts her weaknesses and helps other and can admit she needs other to succeed. Her support with Lysithea another magic user shows this even she was at the top of the school of sorcery. She also learned to forgive the past and keep going foward and even forgive her Dad Gilbert and still cares about him because tomorrow is another day

The problem is how the DLC was tied to main game other than DLC And CS recruiting the AW doesn’t impact much in long run. The 3rd wave was the Sauna which AGAIN should have been in the main game the devs said so. Same I played fates on Phoenix for a reverse meme run and went on Classic Hard On day one release on 3Houses Crimson Flower and had Recruited : Annette/Mercedes/Ingrid/Marianna/Lysithea/Shamir/ and no Unit died in the entire play through. Exactly do the avatar properly or don’t and spend your time and money on good gameplay experience. Its like they forgotten a good game DOESNT always need a avatar. That is also true but the avatar shouldn’t be the main character or chosen one by god or dragon. It makes for poor writing since every player has a different avatar/MyUnit/Personality. They should be random recruit. If they had done that with 3HOUSES instead of forcing Byleth into one,there wouldn’t many problems with them because Had no Personality and poorly executed.even Smash fan hated them since Smash 4. 3 of smash bros FE cast are avatar. They would have better received if they were not made into an avatar in their game.Byleth is not an Avatar as Mekkah said. I agree the avatar should like Mark from FE7 the end result of the game rated your strategic mind. If they want a avatar make it like Mark with an appearance outside of battle like the monastery equivalent and choices define your avatar personality. They should go with what Koei Tecmo did in dynasty and Samurai empires your voice type is your personality for dialogue trees.that way fans still get their avatar dating without problems but also makes sense why you’re the strategist and they listen to you on a map.the support shows their trust in you as a strategist

This is why you dont make an avatar a chosen god or main protagonist of a story driven game.Everybody interprets things differently. They should be random soldier that becomes the narrator at the end telling his side of the war. It also DOESNT help the avatar in FE that. Kris: steals the show in a game about Marth which defeats the point of Marth being the protagonist. Robin : is a chosen beacon for Grima and because of the grimleas cult is the prophecied host of Grima which deprives him and the grimleas of free will ( chosen one and prophecy do that lot) Corrin: the world follows them like they can’t function without their approval. They should do both in the way chrono trigger did. Small subtle thing in first play through and new game plus adding onto it more. Half of three houses story is a longer version of Fates first 5 chapters and then splits. How do you solve this issue you make Byleth herself only playable in the teacher phase of the monastery and a green unit in battle with Godly AI to prove her merc status and given advice like the splitting path in the zanado bandit proving her battlefield knowledge and combat expertise. Then at the part with Edelgard and Rhea at the Holy Tomb to to choose a side. Byleth involvement and Story ends there. They take the SoC and Stab themselves in the heart destroying the Crest Stone and telling her students to make their own path like Sothis told her and there’s no right or wrong in war only moral grey. This confusion allows all 3 classes to escape the monastery and Rhea Goes Immaculate and Insane. After that you chose Birth by Sleep Style your Lord. Edelgard/Crimson Flower Dimitri/ Azure Moon Claude/Verdant Wind Rhea/Seiros/Silver Snow so Byleth has an emotional impact and important sacrifices that pushes them differently

All of 3houses problems in its story/execution/DLC came from rushing thing the DLC wave 3 with the Sauna and the pets WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE MAIN GAME. They said it in a devloper interview. If they took the time to polish it more it would have been an even greater game and it’s already a great one. But they rushed their development cycle from the 3ds when they knew it would be overshadowed soon so they remade gaiden.they switch to the NX and announced the game on the switch when the switch launched in March 2017. In order to create something good IT TAKES TIME AND THEY RUSHED IT. The game box and trailer said ‘’ Your student hold snd shape the Future ‘’ and since awakening they made the avatar Customizable in physical appearance yet on the switch they didn’t. If they die and it’s a game over it’s because your avatar died not your allies.So for all intents and purposes they beaten the final boss you just weren’t there since you died. 3 : Avatar/ Dialogue: they should be mute and a dialogue options that means different responses and course of actions. 4: Story : thing just happen cause there’s no way otherwise for it to happen. Sorry Edelgard dropping her Axe for that dagger against Kostas for Byleth to Learn Divine Pulse is BS. 5: DLC : Costumes are okay but 50$ for a season pass like 3houses one is BS. A couple paralogues and the sauna with the cats and dogs supposed to be be IN THE MAIN GAME SND HAVING TO PAY FOR IT IS A D’´K MOVE IS. Abyss is good but Alfric the final boss of that side story shouldn’t be walking around when he supposed to be dead.

Yeah It might be MY unpopular opinion but I don’t like the direction the series is going. I’m mean Corrin was the child of the Final boss so being a deus ex machina was in her blood. Robin was human puppet for grima. Byleth she is just a empty husk for the player but as a IN CANON AND LOGICAL REASON WHY THEY ARE LIKE THIS SND BECOMES A GOD LITERALLY. Also on Phoenix mode in fates if you played poorly you could get soft locked. In SoV and 3 houses time rewind powers. It negates the strategy aspect since you dont learn from your mistakes. FE was about unit/item management and permanent death meaning you had to strategize. Also in 3h you have lot of money and it makes monastery a chore instead of planning since almost everything can be done in pre battle map

I agree completely even though Awakening was my first one I came for a SRPG not a Persona game I knew The game and its school system were not gonna help this isn’t Persona where during daylight your a regular teenager and by night a demon slayer. Good the grind through garrec mach is dog shit in Fates I use 50 gold here you instant battle and it doesn’t cost activity points and isn’t a chore to sit through. In three houses Byleth is a stillborn with the crestone of SoC.We all know that But if Byleth died Such as when Kostas stab them in heart destroying said Crestone/Sothis. Would the story or world still exist? I mean Byleth HAS to work for the church and if they don’t then. The last few New entries did such as Fates. The plot revolves around Corrin and Byleth/Sothis. If your world can’t continue without them than this tier of writing is worse than fanfiction tier.Espicialy since all the world building becomes obsolete in a fell swoop. If they could say no or die without derailling the story then it would be Natural but I’m doubtful about that. But what do you people think? Exactly fan service isnt bad at all. Fan service doesn’t remove tension in story. But an Avatar where almost every recent support conversation are just sucking the avatar is bad. In my crimson Flower route I’ve recruited all others students that I could and when they died at the immaculate one like ingrid I didn’t feel sad or bad cause they were following me because teacher said it was best.
