  1. Even as a first time player, I can appreciate all the experimentation you can do in the game, even if for someone who doesn't care about maximum optimisation like me, it just means giving galeforce to as many units as possible.
  2. Funnily enough, I just recently finished the game for the first time, and by finished, I mean I steamrolled through Normal/ Casual difficulty. So does anyone want to reflect ?
  3. I'm worried this is considered Necro posting, but considering there was a five month gap and the thread wasn't locked, I think I'm fine. I finished this game a couple weeks ago (with DLC), and I loved it. I acknowledge the flaws, some of the map designs are pretty annoying, the Cantors should NOT have regenerating health, and I do miss the class variety from other games. But I think I love what the game does right so much that I can ignore it, though I understand if other's can't. As others have mentioned, the presentation is top notch for a game of this scale on the 3ds, the music, the animation, and of course, the voice acting. I also wonder if the story would be as good without the voice acting, but I think they might’ve written the script knowing there'll be voice acting, because I can't see some lines being effective without it, such as "nothing but LIES!", and yes you could argue that's a flaw. I do agree the story is also flawed; Celica's route compared to Alm's doesn't nearly have the same impact, Alm's royal blood underestimates the Nobility and commoners theme (which could've actually been an interesting plot point if they acknowledged it), and some characters, like Rinea, only get more character in supplementary material and heroes; Rudolf's brand and the fact he was forced to promise to Duma that he would conquer Zofia NEEDED to be mentioned. But again, I can ignore the faults because of what it does right, again, the voice acting is a big factor, but some of the writing is really good regardless, especially some of the supports. Also, I REALLY want a switch port that adds some maps with Rigellian characters (and just do Awakening as well).
  4. So at some point we'll probably go back in time again and Ksavir will be born, and then left alone. So is Heidr a red herring, or does Kvasir lose her memories and get taken in by Njordr? If it's the latter, it'll be funny to think that half of this book's characters are the same person.
  5. I haven't gotten all the supports yet, but in Madeline and Mauvier's C support, Mauvier says that Madeline must have a lot of Introductions to get through, which would imply she only recently arrived. But I don't think it matters much when the Fell Xenologue takes place, it's fundamentally no different from arguing who Alear canonically gives the pact ring to.
  6. Also, quick question regarding Nel: And one thing I wonder:
  7. Every few turns he'll move spots, the second time he moves, it'll be to the top of the map, and then you can do some reasonable damage. So the best strategy is to move everyone to the top and then swamp him when he gets there.
  8. So..... what was the point of this? To give us the Four Hounds without breaking continuity? I won't complain about what it isn’t, and I enjoyed the ride well enough, but it just feels like this was only meant to give us five characters and two classes, with a story tacked on.
  9. MARK?! When I first saw the thumbnail I thought it was a young Brammimond for some reason, but no it's MARK. Timeline shenanigans aside, that's kinda cool?
  10. Alfred and Etie: someone finally revealed the secret to their muscles!
  11. I agree with this; building off of that, it feels like to story mostly exists to supplement the gameplay. Losing the emblems in Chapter 11, which forces you to experiment and gives some bosses emblems, there's also the time crystal which has already been mentioned, and even the shape of the map is designed for linear progression. Also, where in existence does the Prologue fit into things? It serves as a Prologue, but fits in absolutely nowhere storywise. And what's with that dream where fell Alear has that wicked smile (the 'Crimson Memories cutscene if anyone wants to check), we're lead to believe that Fell Alear was actually wicked like Evil Veyle, which A) contradicts what we see later, and B) personally speaking, is less interesting than what we got anyway, so what was the point? A *clears throat* 'red' herring?
  12. What do you reckon it'll be about? We know it has something to do with another world, and fell dragons, I reckon/hope:
  13. I think I've calmed down after reading.... THAT. So we're going to the past for four chapters; it would be cool if we got a heroes children banner this year. I'm in the camp that think Heidr is our child and Gullveig, so I think Heidr will be born in the past, Gullveig will curse her past self, and we leave her behind, which probably leads to some grudge. A random thought occurred to me: imagine, since we've been kidnapped again, if Seidr asks Alfonse instead? if we could see Veronica's reaction, it'd be worth it. Also, I'm kinda disappointed how they're using the 'out of order' story format, because this just feels like they mixed around the Chapter numbers without mixing up the story itself; after the 3rd chapter, I figured it would be in groups of four, but I though we'd at least die at the end of the first and second groups of four, rather than just a typical 'travel to the past to learn the truth' story.
  14. Sigurd- Louis: straight up broken Veronica - Griffin Knight Chloe: extreme Healing range
  15. I just finished the story, and I have..... complicated feelings about it. After the first three chapters finished setting things up, the next 13 chapters are just a macguffin quest, and then after that, they attempt to give depth to the villians, to.... varying results. I was expecting Mauvier to just be another Camus, so I'm kinda glad he joined us, Marni fell kinda flat due to her sympathetic side coming out of left field, and I guess the same applies to Zephia and Griss, but.... I found their death scene kinda effective? When Griss said "nothing can hurt me anymore" I thought that was effective, and I get that Zephia's sense of Family is twisted but genuine, it just needed some deeper writing before hand. I think they should've played up the cruelty of Sombron using his children like he did because I really like what we see of Past Alear, how empty s/he is; make Sombron a villian we can hate, rather than whatever they tried to do at the last minute. I do think Alear might be the best Avatar we've gotten though, s/he had some actual depth, with his/her upbringing.
  16. This is probably our last chance for clarity on Ash and Elm, whether or not we get it, we'll see in a couple days.
  17. I took the liberty of looking at the data mined script on the wiki, and:
  18. I'm pretty sure Heithr and Gullveig are the same character, based on the Etymology and the opening. Since it's going to be a story out of order, I'd imagine that in order, it'll show Heithr's decent to villainy and the way it's presented to us, it'll probably the Villian twist. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but it's a complicated idea to begin with. Though I wonder, will players who start after book 7 be able to start from chapter 1, or will they have to follow the release order? Edit: it's release order, that should've been obvious, seeing as they're releasing to chapters at once as always. In regards to Gullveig, I wonder if her tome will be called Jormungandr (after the snake that Thor fights). Edit: nevermind, it's called Gullveig as well. Another thing I noticed, the second chapter we get is chapter 5, and the second chapter is always the one teased in the banner video, so that means Alfonse and co don't meet Seithr until chapter 5, interesting... Edit: also nevermind, I double checked the Feh channel You know, I was sceptical, but this book will definitely keep discussion lively, for better or worse, we'll see. Edit: wow, debunked myself.
  19. Well, starting at Chapter 13 is interesting, but then the question is, will chapters from 1-12 or 12-1 afterwards? Music is great, nothing new there. But wow, there really are no male OC's this time, guess they finally killed them all, except for Alfonse and Alfonse, well, maybe some male characters will be introduced later. Here's some Etymology: Seithr: a type of Magic (hang on, what was Nivovalir's magic called again? Edit: Seithjarn, possible connection?) Heithr: an alternate name from Gullveig Gullveig: a witch speared three times and burnt by the aesir, and was Reborn three times. On her third rebirth, started to practice Seithr, and took the name Heithr. She allegedly leads to conflict between the Aesir and Vanir. Edit: also some scholars believe she and Freya and the same.
  20. Well, the silver lining in this case is that Sharena's actress' got more work, and thankfully, Ray Chase still has other roles, both in Fire Emblem and other franchises like Kingdom Hearts (he's in smash after all, voicing his main, I think he's done pretty well). Though what would the pay check be for a 2 minute glorified advertisement anyway.
  21. I wonder what the reaction would be if Sharena got an upgrade before Alfonse. I would’ve preferred Alfonse in the ending cutscene, but maybe IS thought that would be shipping too hard. But I have to wonder if we'll ever get clarity on Ash and Elm, Ash wouldn't get a Tempest Trials story till book 9 (if that'll even be a thing), and book 6 is basically the Tempest Trial story (so to speak) for book 1.
  22. Well, they forgot Ash and Elm, but remembered Sharena! This is charming, and fitting, but it does stick out a little since Sharena hasn't had as much screentime or development as Alfonse, and she isn't even in either of the other movies for the book. Also on a semi related note, I guess ascended Veronica counts as this book's 6th character, which is a little disappointing; I doubt we'll ever see Veronica's step mother now. I feel like Book 5 wrapped up better, but this Book addressed more important plot points. So, Alfador for Book 7?
  23. Then again, if he's Birthright Xander, his 'fate' is already sealed.
  24. We needed just a couple more scenes, is it seriously too much to ask that the ending has more than one scene? Just one clarifying Ash and Elm's fate, and one clarifying the state of Embla after all of this. What we got was good, Embla kind of hand the Shonen Villain thing where the flashbacks are shown right before she died, but again the writing we got was good, there just isn't enough. Edit: of course we will get our animated cutscene which I think might have Ash and Elm? So we are getting something more.
  25. So, the final chapter isn't out yet, but boy those backgrounds in the banner trailer! We've got eyes of Sauron everywhere! Also, Embla isn't a green unit. Here's hoping the script is the same quality.
