  1. For the record, just start reporting the trolling posts. I think I'll ask some members on how they feel about the amount of respect they are receiving, and their ideas on how we can stop some of the fights, and get back to you all on this.
  2. It's not that you can't joke about things, it's just there's a time and a place. If someone says they were just diagnosed with AIDS, I doubt it would be a good time to crack a joke about it with them.
  3. Only for the people who are the ones who disrespecting others in the first place, and really we can just ignore them, as serious discussion is taking place.
  4. I wouldn't say the mods and admins are to blame, as they DO do their job, it's just they aren't able to be everywhere at once.
  5. How so? Encouraging others to follow and understand the rules and to make sure they fully understand what they mean is going too far?
  6. I honestly DON'T care about popularity, I never wanted it in the first place. I didn't come here to be popular and for everyone to love me. I'm not some person who sits in the background and tries to look pretty. If people lose their respect in me for standing up for what is right, then they never had respect to begin with, and they aren't worth it.
  7. I find it funny that all of your opinions are those of the staff and chatroom ops, such as Smartrutter7, Jyosua, and Vincent. I have yet to see something from you that wasn't agreeing with them. I know they are intelligent people and all, but I doubt everything they say is word for word of what you think. Just be yourself, there is NOTHING wrong with being different, going with the crowd isn't always a great thing.
  8. Thank you Lyle, it's good to see you understand what I'm talking about. I'm just trying to say that some people really don't know what "respect," means when it comes to respecting other users, and we should inform them what it means. Respect means treating EVERYONE equally, no insulting new comers, or unpopular people, and no putting people below yourself and publicly making them feel inferior to you. If you have a problem with a user, just report them, or ignore them.
  9. Not to mention he is always agreeing with what he thinks is the "winning team," which by the way is rather annoying at times, and you should just state your OWN opinion. It's healthier for you too.
  10. Beg to differ, it's not just swearing either.
  11. That is sort of what I'm saying, not exactly, but yes a good way of putting it. Restraint, people need to learn to use it.
  12. I never said that, I said not to ignore people's posts just because they are popular. I don't expect people to report anything SLIGHTLY offensive. I mean for the things that are OBVIOUSLY offensive.
  13. Then why are they not being enforced? If people are ignoring them, then there is a problem. If people aren't aware of them, then they should be MADE aware of them.
  14. That is not the issue, my problem is people have a lack of respect for what others think, say or just them in general... Exactly what I'm talking about. Obviously SOMEONE DOES, as I am a person last I checked.
  15. Can do. And I was using swearing as an example of the amount of disrespect for other users that goes on. Swearing is just an example. There are some users that just blatantly insult the "newer," users or even the "unpopular," users just because they want the others to think they are "cool," or better than everyone, and 99% of the time it goes ignored. However it isn't the staffs fault, as the users that see it don't REPORT it, some of them even encourage it. I'm not blaming the staff, as every time they are informed of a topic that is offensive, they are quick to close it. Obviously the staff can't read EVERYTHING posted on the site, but the members who see these occurrences and let it slide just because someone is "cool," or "popular." If a less popular member does it however, you can be certain they will report them out of spite. I'm trying to say that there should be some kind of reminder somewhere that for starters reminds people being the "popular," member shouldn't exempt you from the rules, (flaming specifically, however I have seen others) and that everyone should be given the same amount of respect, be they new or by they a veteran or the forum. Normally I'm not one that has to point out the obvious, but it seems there are people here who obviously think that if a member is "cool in their book," that they shouldn't get in trouble, so they ignore any offensive posts, thus allowing this to escalate to flame wars, before staff members are able to notice these topics or posts. I understand that it's not a big deal to some, but a few of us don't want to see everyone disrespecting each other, and flame wars every day. Obviously not being a rule it wouldn't involve harsh punishment as long as the offense isn't as harsh as say, starting a flame war that lasts for several hours, but instead a simple report, then delete of post or topic without a physical warning, and if needed a verbal warning. Less of a rule, more of a policy of general respect towards others. I personally see no harm in such a thing, as it wouldn't completely eliminate swearing and jokes and such, but more of, laughing at others expense without their consent.
  16. I didn't want it to be a RULE Jyosua...
  17. Cynthia

    New Rule

I fail to see how it was off topic, as not showing respect for other users is a surefire way to have them instigate a flame war later...
  18. Not the way I've seen it used here. I've seen people tell others to "fuck off," and other uses that really aren't appropriate. I'm not proposing we make it a RULE not to swear, I'm proposing that we remind people to be more considerate of the people around them, as obviously a vulgar free world is impossible, but really we let it go too far when it comes to this.
  19. It isn't really enforced too well, I see the F word in topic titles ALL the time, I saw Hikarusa make a topic depicting the nature of sex as well. I think this is relevant, because really it contributes to people being offended, as there is a lot of people who blatantly have no respect for other users.
  20. I didn't say to make it a RULE, merely a reminder to people that if you're GOING to put excessive amount of swearing or borderline appropriate things in a topic, at least have a warning.
  21. Well, I think people should cut down on swearing, at least in topic TITLES, and possibly give warnings in the descriptions, as there ARE younger people here, and some of us don't want to see all that language left and right.
  22. Thunder Lord had a big ego however...

  23. I don't get why Thunder Lord freaked out though, I've seen people who are at least 10 times more harassing than Knife was trying to be.
