  1. Indeed. Alan-Lance-Roy support is made of win. +4 atk, 20 avo...and stuff... by like ch 7 is awesome.
  2. Well, yeah. People tend to like using units that don't suck, and tier lists put good units at the top, so characters in the top portion are getting used more.
  3. Heather's atk is hardly lower than Sothe's at all... Her str is about 2 less than his at 20/20/1, but she gains 1-2 more from supports, and then Sothe's 60% str growth rockets off from there... all of 4 points to its new cap. Heather's max atk is even higher than Sothe's since they have the same str cap, but Heather can get more from supports. She is also free to promote before he does. wtf? This is bull. 4-E(1) is almost all generals, and that's the only one.
  4. Not release a game with Marth in it in the US? Absurd.
  5. and a better class mastery skill, and a better affinity, and better growths in spd and/or def More move and canto would be nice. As well as more con.
  6. All of them not named Sigrun are awesome.
  7. Edward is light, not thunder. No avoid. I don't know about you, but I think a 5~10% chance to die is pretty terrible. Therefore, earth affinity is very far from pointless. Much the opposite. They do. Except Zihark when he first joins has nice def. The difference is that Zihark gets high enough avoid to make up for crappy def, while Edward doesn't. If you don't use supports. Otherwise, Zihark wins by about 17. Even if you're leaving them without supports for some reason, Edward only wins avoid by about 5. That's not "much better". Huh? How is it any more stat-reliant than any other part? A 2.7% chance isn't that low.
  8. Yet he still has easily the highest avoid (other than Lucia) since he is the only one with an affinity that grants avoid. Nah, he can suck without it. His offense takes screwage to suck, but his defense is poor. He has low def, and his avoid isn't high enough to be reliable at all, thanks to both his affinity and Micaiah having no leadership stars. You may see it that way, but many (including me) don't. In fact, I see the ending as the part that matters the least since you get a ton of ready-to-go-as-is units at the end.
  9. No... You have a limited number of enemies. Unless you're unable to defeat all of them before ending the chapter, exp rank is only helped or hurt by gaining more or less than the average. Hector or Marcus may get in far more kills than Legault, but Legault is the one helping the rank. The other two hurt it, if anything.
  10. It doesn't exist for every game, but it's clearly there.
  11. Too bad FE doesn't have archers mounted on pegasi. That would be awesome.
  12. Eliwood - Eliw00t Lowen - Low1n Hector - H4xtor Legault - Leg a ult Tanith - Manith Elincia - Erincia Ulki - Vlki (Vulki) Danved - ten men Makalov - Mak a love Tormod - Tormdo
  13. It may not get hurt enough to lower below 5 stars, but it certainly does get hurt. Also, intentionally hurting your combat rank by counterattacking without killing helps exp. Excess in one rank can be sacked to help another.
  14. Anytime it gets attacked melee, it hurts combat.
  15. Mist is almost a paladin, so she's the obvious choice for a paladin run.
  16. Archers suck ...in easy games. Why slow down to make walls when you can just mow through them with paladins, heroes, etc. that kill everything on the counterattack? When things are harder, then archers start to become useful. Their range starts to matter. something I said about archers and FE7; too lazy to reword it: "Archer is not an inherently bad class. If you have poor defenses, or enemy offense is just that good, archer is a good class. Not eating counterattacks helps keep you alive. If enemies are hard to kill, with lots of bottlenecks and stuff due to it taking several units to take down one unit, archer again is a good class. Having more places to attack from is helpful. If you have great durability and/or enemies are easy to kill, archer is a bad class. Archers are better off, relative to other characters, in harder games than in this one."
  17. Eh... Everyone that doesn't join at level 15 promoted or something may have the potential to become an equal to Nino.
  18. Lugh is best. Mostly because he's not on level negative five thousand when he joins, but also because of speed and supports. He actually gets decent durability, and he attacks twice.
  19. Laguz growths can't be counted the same way as beorc since a +1 translates to a +2. Compared to other physical-attacking beorc, 20 have str growths higher than Leo's, and 8 have lower. 7 if you don't count Mist; the game itself counts her as a magic user. "only"? Bases are just as important as growths. Actually, that's wrong. They're more important, unless the stat rams its cap early. You're guaranteed to have it, and you have all of it for the entire duration of the game. That's because they're nubs. I see fault in mages' defense, too. Indeed it's easier to work around low def for a ranged attacker than for a meleer, but that doesn't eliminate the problem. It just makes it not quite as severe.
  20. Heal every turn, even when it isn't needed. FE9 Mist is the first one to reach 20/20 when I play, and that's with completing chapters relatively quickly; fast enough to get the max amount of turn-based bexp (on average. Sometimes slightly faster or slower). And I don't give her but about 500 bexp the whole game. Also, upgrade: Promoted Nolan and Jill at the end of 1-7 this time (hard mode again). btw... Yeah, but in all the wrong places. He has huge growths in skl and res, the stats the matter least. His growths in the most important stats (str, spd, def) are below average.
  21. No... Nino has good spd (and luck). Sophia doesn't. Also, Rutger, Alan, Lance, and Miledy are more godlike than Hector or (PoR) Ike.
  22. http://serenesforest.net/fe10/average/leonardo.html Leonardo gains +4 spd on his second promotion? Is that right? Because it seems wrong, given the data you have here: http://serenesforest.net/fe10/promo.html
  23. Does this comment apply to hard mode? Because I find that I'm not one-rounding things nearly as often as you're implying that you do. Also, Whispers would be so much better off with Luna...
  24. Elincia can. Mist can't.Also, now that I've actually used Bane, I can say that it's not as bad as I thought. Someone like Heather may not have enough atk to kill with just a 3x damage, so a *Bane*+normal attack works better than if it had been some other skill.
