Does anyone have any of the following skills for Scarlet? Dragon Fang, Renewel, Shelter, Vantage and maybe Lethality for good measure. If anyone has any of these that would be great.

Got Renewal and Vantage on her: 01500-76475-73973-20837

@Sock I just searched for the castle name Test#1 and no spaces as you requested. A castle with that name did pop up that I was able to visit. Party included Shi (Corrin), Rinkah, Kaze, Sakura, Azura, and Jacob. Shi was a level 9, Rinkah a level 4, Kaze a level 3, Sakura level 1, Azura level 1 and Jacob level 1. All of them with skills you'd expect for those levels. Although Jacob had both Resistance +2 and Gentilhomme which I'm not sure if he should at that level.

Yeah, that's it. All right, not updating the card has nothing to do with it nor does not activating StreetPass.

We overlooked something obvious, I just realized...

@(s)ad touch Do you happen to be PAL region?

  3. @SavageVolug

If you have multiple files the most recently updated one will the one that people find. In other words the save file in which you last chose the "update data" option. For example, I just looked up your castle names:  Scrubbs is not up, Ft. Thraccia is. I also searched your castle address, it's correct. The castle address is the same for all save files using the same game data; if you had two separate cartridges/3DSs you'd get two different numbers.

Also I don't think filling out the card has anything to do with it. I've visited people who have the default card settings. However, not activating StreetPass on that particular file might be something... I'm curious now. You mind helping me test? Search the castle name Test#1 and tell me if it comes up (no spaces, btw). If it doesn't, search my castle address and tell me what shows up: 01500-76475-73973-20837 With this test file I don't have StreetPass activated; I can't view the bulletin board. I didn't update the card, but I did update the team. And obviously I chose "update data". Let's see what happens.

like, the gender in my game has to match the gender in the log book?

Yeah. Female Kana is treated as a separate unit to male Kana (and vice versa). Just like Kaze is a separate unit to Hinoka.

  5. Regarding Bartre's "You don't even have a weapon!"

I offer a different perspective to consider: Bartre is chastising himself. I imagine him staring at his hands in utter disbelief when he says that. And then Karla is all "Do you still want to fight? ...Nevermind, I've had enough." Dunno if he'd be more likely to say "I don't even have a weapon!" or "You don't even have a weapon!" when talking to himself. Is it even remotely believable that he'd use second-person?

Just a different take on the situation. A character referring to himself in second-person in an unvoiced game doesn't go over well with a one-off line like that (as we can see), so I'm inclined to believe it was some sort of mix up.

Also, I'm confused about the start of the convo. In the video, Karla says "What is it? Prepare yourself!" and Bartre immediately reacts. This doesn't make sense to me. Would Bartre be able to react fast enough to a surprise attack from Karla? Not to mention, he doesn't have a weapon to counter with even though he thinks he does (out of instinct), so wouldn't that end badly? ...Of the two, I'd say Bartre would be more likely to attack out of the blue.
    Karla: What is it?
Bartre: Prepare yourself! YAA! ...Hm? What the? I don't even have a weapon!
It's also funnier, since his surprise attack failed. It just doesn't make sense to me to say "What is it?" right before "Prepare yourself!" ...Are you asking what this person wants or are you just attacking everything that moves? Make up your mind!

    I don't know, I'm kind of rambling.

2nd, I forget. Are you allowed only one copy of a unit in your log book? As in, if I won a copy of someone's avatar in Castle battle, can I win a second avatar, and keep both in the log book. Thank you.

Yes, you can have more than one copy of a unit on your logbook.

It's difference from Awakening is a drawback? Does the gameplay differs so much?

Not a drawback in the slightest. Fire Emblem as a series likes to experiment with different things, so all the games are different from each other in some way. The fundamentals are the same. That said, some FE games are really similar to each other, and Echoes and Gaiden are really different from everything else. But being different doesn't mean it's "bad". I'd say Echoes is definitely Fire Emblem in its gameplay, unlike certain other grid-based turn-based strategy games.

Since you've only played Awakening (ie, one game), it shouldn't be as jarring as it is to someone who's played a lot of FE games.

I can't recommend Echoes highly enough. Do it, do it!

I'll try to find the scene in question in Fates BR, but do you happen to remember the specific chapter by any chance? That will help save time and significantly narrow my search (as it requires swimming through the game script files, coding and all xD)

There's nothing wrong with acknowledging your feelings! It understandably causes a conflict, especially when it's something we've known for such a long time. I'm also working on formulating an article in Japanese for Japanese fans talking about these changes to see what they think of it. After all many of these sorts of articles don't really consult or inform the Japanese side! I think it may be fun. : )

As for the extended script, I'm happy there's at least one person! It's going slowly but surely. The conflict comes from whether I should do the entire thing or only the additional bits not found in the localization. The issue with the entire thing is, put simply, time. The issue with only the missing pieces is that localization still may have changed some important nuances from other places...see the issue? I know SF translated bits primarily in part 4, and my colleague amielleon covered other bits and pieces. So I have to organize what they did (and didn't) do, then figure out which parts of the script remain and translate those.

Basically, it's quite the undertaking, especially since it's all done simply out of passion and wanting to share the results with the like..six fans (you included) who care xD (on top of all these other things I'm doing...)

But it will come along, one day! (Watch them remake the game with the full script anyway by then...ahhhhh)

The scene is at the end of Ch10. Sorry, not sure why I didn't say that.

I can't begin to imagine how huge of a project the extended script is.

  9. A request from Fates BR. When rescuing Kagero, there's a...humorous...exchange with the three siblings. When asked about Ryoma, Kagero says "I'm afraid--" but is immediately cut off by the siblings going all "OHMYGODHE'SDEADNOOO". And something about "building a monument to his honor".

What is this scene like in JP?

Please tell me there is no "monument" comment... Please let me regain my respect for Hinoka... Really, I expect the flying-off-the-handle shenanigans to be there, as it's a thing that happens often, but are the siblings more in despair than the "oops we're too late OH WELL" dismissiveness in the localization?

I revised my Black Knight article significantly (no changes to the conclusion, but added a lot more context, detail, etc) so feel free to give that a read too about him and Nados. : )

Ahhhh more details, yes! This article has caused conflicting feelings in me.

I'm not bothered by how "awkward" the original is with soul+armor warping. It is what it is. And I despise localization changes. But. This particular convo is one that I've always really liked. They did a damn good job with it. The thing I like most about it is that Ike is all calm and collected instead of giving a knee-jerk "what did you say?!" response when BK says he let him win. The whole thing just works so damn well. I really like the convo and the plot info/characterization it provides. ...But I hate localization changes. ...Conflicting feelings, very strong on both sides. Note that I am not about to start hating (or even liking less) something that I've liked for so many years. I'm merely...acknowledging my feelings.

Going to chime in about FE10's extended script: you say you have it in the works, and I just want you to know I am looking forward to it! No rush, of course, just lettin' ya know there's at least one person excited! :3

  10. This stuff is fascinating!

Thank you for the katakana for Aenir and Aegir. Not knowing how to more accurately pronounce them has bothered me for a few years.

Regarding Alm's "urning gold" tidbit: both versions are used in the english game. There are two different urns to inspect, and...looking at the game right now they are on the same screen. The urn with "better not break it" is in your view (which is hilarious in it's own right, considering all the pot smashing in dungeons) and the punny urn is off to the left.

Request, kinda ridiculous: How do Alm and Celica react to the various cats in the Japanese version? In the English version they both kinda go gaga over them. Celica specifically really likes the cats: "Pssst! Hey, kitty! You want to come home with me?" "If the fisherman aren't careful, someone's going to steal their catch." "My, but aren't you a fat one!" She says these with a really big smile, quite cute. Alm has a good one: "Aw, a kitty! Here, kitty-kitty! Here, girl! Aw, who's a good wittle kitty?!" ...Crazy cat people! xD Oh but then Alm also has a neutral one: "The strays are eyeing the fish, ready to grab whatever's left." Oh, what about Alm's "Sir Purr" comment? It's another Alm-pun, so I'm curious how un-punny the original comment is. Sorry Alm, I don't get it... Now if it was Sir Purrsalot... /snicker ...I'M SORRY FOR TYPING SO MUCH BUT I LIKE CATS.

Also, you have got to play Echoes in English. It is fantastic.

  11. Limited. It just feels better strategy-wise.

Though I would prefer if an option to grind was unlocked post-game. Don't tempt me with overpowering my units during the main campaign, but give me something to do to keep me playing the game after the story is over.

  12. Looking for any of the following:

    Hinoka: Defense+2, Natural Cover
Scarlet: Resistance+2, Seal Magic, Rally Resistance, Lethality, Vengeance, Aegis, Golembane, Shelter, Elbow Room, Spendthrift, Shurikenfaire, Defender, Demoiselle, Malefic Aura, Heartseeker, Potent Potion, Live to Serve, Poison Strike, Profiteer, Quick Salve
Shura: Strength+2, Resistance+2, Seal Strength, Rally Luck, Rally Defense, Rally Resistance, Countermagic, Shove, Lunge, Strong Riposte, Spendthrift, Duelist's Blow, Lancebreaker, Good Fortune, Potent Potion, Live to Serve, Savage Blow, Salvage Blow, Quick Salve

If I recall you could with Miiverse, however it was a huge pain in the ass as it took forever. I'm not sure if it works anymore but try disconnecting from the wifi, hit the miiverse icon and it should let you take a picture of the top screen.

Just tried this. It somehow still works, since the application is in "offline mode". But since Miiverse was discontinued last November how are you supposed to access the image? It doesn't save to your SD card, does it? My laptop is refusing to read my SD card... edit: can't find it on my SD card
