  1. Actually the GBA has no region locking, but the cartridge is long out of print. SamusAran: I read your first comment as slightly hostile so sorry if I took it the wrong way. I'll just take it as a compliment. Thanks.
  2. You don't have to "like piracy" to know there's no legitimate way to play the game in English. :P
  3. Enjoy! If I ever have time, I'd be interested in helping improve the other FE translation patches, but probably not as a "project leader" since they seem to be covered there. As for non-FE games, I feel like most of the interesting games on mainstream consoles have already been translated well enough (feel free to point me in the direction of something cool, though). There's a whole treasure trove of untranslated RPGs and adventure games for old Japanese PCs like the MSX and FM-towns, so if I can figure out how to do the hacking, I think that's what I'd like to do most. Time to do it is a big issue for me at the moment, though. :p
  4. Just finished a new version! Pretty much just a lot of small corrections. 0.99c changelog: -Aligned the Class headers as reported by Chad and fixed by tabachanker. Thanks, guys! -Changed the help menus for some stats to be consistent with FE7 and also added a missing period. Thanks, Chad! -Changed the map title for chapter 24 to Sanctuary and not Dragon Sanctuary so it fits. Thanks, bookofholsety! -Reverted the manga character weapons back to their original names because of length issues. Although strange grammatically, FE7 apparently used the same syntax even for Afa's Drops, so that's good enough for me to keep it the way it was. The dialogue still mentions the characters by name, which was my way of making up for genericizing their weapon names, but I don't suspect anything is lost by the passing mention of these names so I'll leave it unless someone can persuade me otherwise. :P Thanks, bookofholsety! -Fixed a small formatting error when visiting Lot's house with Lot. Thanks, sim! -Made a ton of typo and formatting fixes to the support conversations. Big thanks to DrPikachu for testing every last support and posting all the errors in the support thread! With all the supports finally tested and all polished up, this may be the last time edits with FEditor will be necessary. I'll still sit on this version a while longer, though.
  5. Some nice work here! Good job sticking with it to the end. Most of the changes in the next version of the patch will probably be based on typos and errors you've found here so I really appreciate this.
  6. Well, shucks. I'll consider my options for the manga weapons. First one should be an easy change, though. I'll include these two corrections in the next update, which will also correct the mistakes found in the supports thread.
  7. I have to admit I actually kept that in mind when writing Igrene's dialogue. >>
  8. Chad: Thanks for pointing those out. The graphics don't really bother me personally and I'll leave it up to bookofholsety to fix them or not. As for the descriptions, thanks for pointing out the lack of a period there. At the time I was trying to make the descriptions more accurate to actual gameplay, but I guess if I'm trying to be accurate to FE7 I should go with the way they phrased it there. DodgeDusk: I believe so. I seem to remember making that description more generic.
  9. It fixes a lot of glitches and text graphics and attempts to improve the writing. Basically it's a more complete localization. Give it a try if you play again.
  10. There's nothing indicating that's the case in FE6, but if you trust Canas in his support with Nino they'd have to be cousins. I like Hugh's supports and his character a lot, though.
  11. This is going to be a great reference! I really appreciate your time and effort here.
  12. No, that's an error and means I forgot to insert a break in the script. Let me know about any instances of this you find and I'll fix them up for another update! Let me know about typos, too, if you can.
  13. Are you going to be doing this in game? If so, I've checked over the support conversation scripts multiple times, but it's very time consuming to test them in-game, so let me know if you run into any issues with automatically closing speech bubbles or whatever else!
  14. Any particular reason? It's a fine enough name and all but at this point I don't really want to go out of my way to change names without substantial reason.
  15. dondon: Abbreviating names is a last resort, and I'd rather go with Hero's sword than Champion's swd. I believe as it is now, the Binding Bld is the only item with a truncated name. Barth: Actually, I checked, and I don't think they are. As funny as it would be if the torch staff was just a staff on fire (as it would be if the descriptions were reversed), that unfortunately doesn't seem to be the case. Klok: Not my jurisdiction to change established names like that as far as this project is concerned. Irysa: Although I can kind of see where you're coming from, the references to the characters haven't been removed (the characters are referenced in the dialogue now), and this was never intended to be a 1:1 translation to begin with. Because of grammar differences in Japanese and English, as far as I'm concerned, it's either put in way more work than necessary (or rather, ask tabachanker to >_>) or change the item names very slightly.
  16. dondon: I actually considered that, but the official translations, to my knowledge, all go with "Brave Sword" so I figured, eh, screw it. Originally I wanted it to be "Champion's sword" but I don't think that will fit, and there aren't any other fitting synonyms for "hero" I can think of.
  17. Klok: Is that only for legendary weapons? Because normal items and money definitely use "Got".
  18. Tested by obtaining Durandal and breaking the Binding Bld and Saint's Staff. Works great! Added another minor update to the first post. Here's a changelist: -Legendary weapons will now have "the" in their respective messages rather than "a" (thanks tabachanker!) -Al's sword, Gant's lance, and Tina's staff changed to Hero's sword, Knight's lance, and Noble's staff respectively, and the dialogue before you receive the weapons now mentions the characters by name. This was done primarily to accommodate the "Got a _____." message syntax which looked strange with a character's name at the front of the item name. -When using the Restore staff, the menu said "Status". It now says "Cond" for consistency with FE7. -Changed the chapter 12x boss' name from Guelero to Guerrero. I'd been meaning to do this for a while but kept forgetting.
  19. His ending scroll changes but the ending cutscene doesn't. Pairing him with Lilina actually changes the ending cutscene a little bit.
  20. Yeah, not sure it's worth putting forth the effort. Another "solution" I just thought of to make it a little less awkward... In the dialogue before you obtain Al's sword, Gant's lance, and Tina's staff, the villagers make no mention of the name of the wielder. Perhaps the dialogue could be altered to include their name, and the weapon name could be genericized to, for example, Hero's sword, Knight's lance, and Noble's staff.
