  1. Yeah, and Marth's game world goes the same way. Anri only lived about a century before Marth's time-- his brother was Marth's great-grandfather. It's entirely possible that a long-lived person would've been born in Anri's reign and lived to see Marth proclaimed king even though Anri's era feels like ancient history.
  2. A lot of the plot-related stuff is actually covered in interviews that the dev team published in the player's guide and the Treasure artbook. Some of them are linked on this site under the designers' notes section. They actually put a lot of thought of it-- possibly TOO much since what they said changed and evolved over time, especially by the time FE5 rolls around. The answers are definitely not perfect and consistent but there are a ton of answers. Anyway, holy blood inheritance has no rules. The youngest kid could get it, the oldest kid could get it, and in the case of King Mananan of Isaach two kids got it and Ayra didn't. The Treasure artbook actually does go into why Finn gets so much screentime: they wanted a character who was a ordinary human (not descended from any of the Crusaders) to be caught up in the holy war and see the whole thing start to finish. A witness to history, basically, and sort of a stand-in for all the other regular people of Jugdral who got their lives screwed up by these god-children running around wreaking havoc. Can't help you on the loltastic reused sprites, though.
  3. Yeah, while the Awakening map makes Valentia look the size of the entire Americas, there wasn't any sense of that in the NES era that I can see. The Valentian civil war fit into what was basically the Peg Sisters' holiday from Marth Wars. I think FE3 even had Hardin saying there wasn't room for both him and Marth in one small continent. Honestly, all of Archanea might be the size of Japan. Not small, but not the size of Eurasia. But really, when you get right down to it, FE5 and FE4 don't fit seamlessly together, so any way you try to piece these games together there'll be loose ends and contradictions and unsatisfying retcons.
  4. Yeah, I go with See-da. Google Translate currently mangles her name into "Cedar," as in the tree.
  5. The Chrom that we see in supports and DLC scenes and low-stakes moments is an utterly likable dude. Very engaging. And funny. The Chrom who carries the plot takes a nosedive after the time skip and never pulls out of it IMO.
  6. Up until a couple of years ago it was Lyn. She's a retcon whose every action, every development, whose very existence is utterly irrelevant plus she's the "fragile speedster" sort of unit I rarely enjoy using anyway. But now Chrom exists and his hypocritical incoherent ass wins in a landslide. I like him more than Lyn at her best but I dislike him waaaaay more than Lyn at her worst.
  7. All of these. Especially #2 and #5. The resolution of the game is liberating Northern Thracia from Blume, so let's see more of him. Also anything to get Briggid!kids in sounds good to me.
  8. Most of the FE5 cast had their ages stated on the website, but usually FE is pretty vague. Yumina and Yubello are "13 or 14" and a bunch of FE6 characters are just stated to be in their 10s, 20s, etc in canon sources IIRC. Pretty big difference between being 21 and 27, you know? Navarre is in his mid-20s. And then we have some characters like Seliph and Altena where you can calculate their age as a playable character from dates given inside the game but an age is never given explicitly. There's a long-standing tradition of hand-waving the ages. Probably won't change this time.
  9. A+ idea, let's roll with it. But table the Robin thing, please.
  10. Ribald Tales of the Faith War. With Bikini DLC. (I do like Descent of Jihad)
  11. IMO the whole major-holy-blood gang from FE are already demigods in the human-god hybrid sense. They aren't ordinary humans, and it's not just the weapon that makes them so. The point could've come across better in the actual game as opposed to infodumps in art books but the whole awesome-stats thing isn't purely a gameplay mechanic. They're just flat-out superior to regular folks.
  12. Jugdral has its "land of snow" to the north, though, which makes it odd if we position it below Archanea/Valentia... especially as Archanea's snowy area is stated to be at a high elevation which might allow for some flexibility in plopping it down on a map. Also the continent from TRS was supposed to be on the same planet as Archanea, at least in Kaga's mind. That could've been the mystery land mentioned in FE2...
  13. Everything points to Raquesis going to Leonster to deliver the sword to Ares and Grahnye after all the bad stuff happened. Looks like Grahnye was happy to take the sword but did not want any explanations of how Sigurd was innocent in Eldigan's demise.
  14. I think the preponderance of evidence suggests that Raquesis delivered Mystletainn to little Ares before Granhye told her to GTFO and shut the door in her face. Kaga's own thoughts on the matter certainly go that way even if that doesn't make it game canon. As for Faval, though, I don't think we need Lewyn's involvement either 1) Faval remembers his mother, Patty does not. This suggests Faval was 3-5 when Briggid disappeared-- possibly placing her disappearance well after the Belhalla Surprise. 2) When Briggid does "die" she then washes up on the eastern coast of the Thracia peninsula and her kids wind up in Conote. This might indicate that Briggid 'n' kids were in Northern Thracia at the time they parted ways. 3) Based on 1 + 2, it's possible that Briggid left Faval and Patty in some safe place and gave Faval the Yewfelle for safekeeping.
  15. I accidentally replied to myself instead of editing. Sorry for the double.
  16. I haven't much liked Midayle!Lester. More usable than most Lesters but still pretty terrible IMO. Noish and Holyn are both fine choices for Aira. Holyn/Briggid has great results so if you do Noish/Ayra and Holyn/Briggid that could give you leeway to go with something like Azel!Lester or Claude!Lester aka Benched. If you're going to nerf Lester you may as well try to optimize Faval. If you want to get creative with Tiltyu both Lex and Finn provide skill sets that the kids can exploit using Wrath. You can end up with a promoted Lex!Arthur by the beginning to Chapter 8-- he may be useless as Lester come endgame but he can help carry your team for a while. You'll have Lewyn!Ced to fall back on in case any of the other kids turn out lousy, so you may as well have fun with it. ETA: But maybe Arthur wouldn't promote that early on LTC. Hm.
  17. Yeah, that's what I think, too. "I'm useless, so if I just disappear, everyone will be better off and maybe Palla and Abel can have the happiness they deserve." And of course it makes absolutely no one happy.
  18. Yeah, honestly if I'm going to pair up Jamke he's going with Ayra-- kids turned out just fine and all the multi-hit swordie skills were nice. Screw destiny.
  19. Avatar stays dead in the event of a sacrifice. Or Chrom dies for real in Ch23 and Lucina, Avatar, and the Khans have to pick up the pieces and carry on to the Final. Give the scenery-chewing drama some actual weight, plz.
  20. Jamke!Faval can't hit the side of a barn with his magic bow.
  21. Wait. FE4 is twelve maps. Ten official chapters plus Prologue and Final.
  22. [bolding for emphasis] This was my experience in a regular playthrough. Lex!Arthur was amazing in CH8 and trash by CH10. Good to know he has applications in a 0% run.
  23. I love Sharlow and the 'Zerk staff. Laylea is made out of tissue paper so the application of Charisma there was pretty limited.
  24. I have heard that but in actual playthrough I parked Sylvia in a castle when she got too cozy to Midayle (!) and they still became lovers. I ended up offing her because I wanted the subkids.
  25. It's the intro to Chapter 13 (Frozen Land): This truly is an unimaginably treacherous journey. 5000 metres… No, higher than that. Looking down, a sea of clouds can be seen. They have reached the summit of the cold mountain peak. Breathing is difficult… Dizziness is felt… Their vitality is fast approaching its limits. That's more than three miles high!
