Though I don't care for Stannis past his occasional dry humorous remark, his character is truly interesting in that he would do anything to acquire the throne because it is his duty, while simultaneously murdering all of his heirs and ensuring that even if he had somehow gained the throne his dynasty would end with him. Then all the while he claims that he "does not want to shoulder this burden". Hell, I bet if someone with a greater claim to the throne showed up (Aegon, Dany, Jon Snow) he'd still refuse to step down and fight to the death despite claiming to loathe the responsibility of kingship. Probably less than ecstatic at my analysis of the Pretender, Stannis Baratheon the First (and god willing the last) of his name.
