Raemond jumped a little at the sudden, somewhat distant sound of thunder. (Is a storm coming?)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The plant life around the area was so thick, however, that the light could only be seen from where the sky could be seen or within a short radius. As the lightning struck, the plants all around Jasmine, Illiam and Tiria lit up for a moment, reflecting off of trunks, moss, rocks, brush, vines and branches. In the momentary flash, something else was visable in one of the trees. Some form, melted into the shadows without the presense of light. His human features were made clear in the momentary flash, the light reflecting off his eyes until he snapped them shut and bow gripped at rest in one hand. The only sound he made was a quiet, sharp intake of breath in surprise at the sudden light. Unless one was very observant, one might not have taken note, but his clothes were rough, made from animal hide and cloth. This was a man used to living entirely in the wilds...and he had been watching.
Tiria jumped as the lightning struck down in the clearing. Wasn't expecting that. She started to pace around the clearing as she waited for something to happen, doing her best to avoid the scorch mark on the ground. She was doing her best to be alert, but it had been a long day. She sat down with her back resting against the trunk of a tree. Sighing, she rested her head in her hands. And waited.
"What happens if they don't come?"
Jasmine
Jasmine: Well, if they don't come then we'll have to search for them. The visibility is crap right now though so it's probably not going to get us anywhere.
Luc Altair
He had two orders of business to deal with, both required some searching to find them. The first of his targets was simple to find, but was indisposed with his own conversations. He could interrupt, but beyond the usual rudeness, Luc's second target would likely be harder to find anyway and spending time conversing with someone else first wouldn't be a wise idea. He didn't have any idea where Reika would be, so he started with the stables--where he had another, minor thing to do there as well. She wasn't in them--Paul was though--so he headed back inside. The only other place they had been told about were the guest rooms, and that was not preferable. The chances he could bother someone were high, and anyone in a room would no doubt be bothered. But still, if he did proceed to just knock in sequence he could learn who was staying where.
"Ok. Let's begin," said Alf, walking out of he aerie and drawing his Iron Axe, holding it one hand and using it to protect his body.
"Right. This'll be our first training session. Here, I'll teach you melee fighting techniques with an axe. Remember to observe what I do and when we finish with our duel, if you have any questions about any moves I did, feel free to ask. Now first, I want you to strike at me. Don't worry about any wounds I might suffer during the training exercise. I have vulneraries."
Aiya breathed out slowly, composing herself.
'It's alright... I'm just getting in over my head over this... he is using a one-handed stance... defending... so...'
Gripping the handle of the Killer Axe tightly with both hands, Aiya ran towards Alferis, holding her axe low at her side.
'I may not be trained to use an axe... but the basic essentials are the same... if I remember that...'
Shifting her weight and momentum, her stance shifted to an overhead one, her axe held high over Alferis, a fierce look shining in her eyes.
"Rargh!"
The strafe initiating the weight shift had brought Aiya to the side opposite Alferis' axe. Applying power to her arms in addition to gravity, Aiya unleashed a crushing downward swing at Alferis.
"WHOA!" Alf cried out in surprise, barely dodging the blow. The move had taken him by surprise, but he was still in a good enough thinking state to examine Aiya quickly and carefully. She hadn't quite recovered yet from the downward swing, so Alf gripped his axe with both hands, bull-rushing Aiya while aiming a downward blow at her back.
I remember father once said that blind rage can strengthen somebody greatly. But the strongest were those who deliberately intoxicated themselves on their own bloodlust, who let their craving for battle and their anger allow them to deal blows as strong as a person who was completely enraged would, but was still in the state of mind to gauge movements and tactics. It's difficult to achieve though and many never are able to do such a thing.
This training might give me the opportunity to attempt to do so and I hope I'm succeeding. Thanks for letting me do this Aiya.
As Alferis dodged the blow with a step back, he rushed at her, apparently hoping to take advantage of her unbalanced state.
'Thought so.'
Maintaining the strength in her swing, Aiya let the axe hit the ground and get temporarily lodged in it.
'He's getting close... 3... 2... 1... now!'
Using the embedded axe as a leverage point, Aiya swung her whole body around, her armoured boot flying towards Alferis in a horizontal kick, the Steel armour crashing into the Iron axe with a heavy impact. Taking advantage of the delay in Alferis' attack the maneuver caused, Aiya hefted her axe out of the ground, and twirled it once in her hand.
"Whoa....." Alf said in surprise at the impact from the kick. While he was attempting to regain the momentum of his charge, Aiya got her axe free and twirled it, a grave mistake. Alf took the opportunity to kick Aiya in the arm where she held her axe while aiming a horizontal blow at her torso.
Alferis came at her with wild aggression, his first move kicking her axe away.
'Damn... here it comes?' Aiya braced herself and crouched lower, tightening her legs in preparation. Taking the axe blow to her chestplate, the iron axe was stopped cold. Taking advantage of the sudden stop, Aiya grabbed at Alferis' wrist with her left hand, and violently jerked it away from her body, twisting it against his back.
'So, he managed to hold on to the thing, huh?' Aiya grimaced. This would make things a bit more difficult. Forcing his arm back further, to disable the axe as much as possible, Aiya clenched her free hand into a fist, and violently rammed it into Alferis' gut, the hard steel easily sinking into the soft flesh.
'I just need to keep him in this hold...'
Pulling her fist back and swinging again, harder this time, Aiya hoped to force him to drop his weapon completely.
"Oooffff! Oooungghh....." Alf groaned and spat blood, wincing in pain. He still gripped his axe while considering his options. At this point, this was more of a brawl than a duel and so Alf had to be just as ruthless as Aiya was. He wouldn't let go, but it was getting hard to think from all the pain.
The next morning revealed the thickness of the plant life to be due to a mixture of green and dead plants. It was thick, but roughly half of the plants had lost their green coloring and were, instead, various shades of brown or beige. The dew had gathered as per usual and the skies were only partially cloudy.
Raemond had eventually nodded off and was sitting against a tree trunk, asleep. Beau had woken up, dusted himself off, and walked right up to his remaining escort. "Raemond. Wake up."
The monk groaned, not particularly understanding Beau's urgency at the moment. "Beau, I'm still tired. Let me sleep a while longer..." he grumbled.
"We have to find either Sergeant Maruska and Ms. Edgedraper or my estate now. The sooner we leave, the sooner we will accomplish our aims," the young noble pressed his case, "We're so close to my home; we cannot delay now. Sergeant Maruska can probably find it on her own, so we can meet there, I'm sure. Of course, she will bring Ms. Edgedraper with her, too. Now come on. Today my future is decided. It is too important to sleep in on."
The templar sighed, warding off sleep and rubbing his eyes as he forced his body to stand up and stretch. "Fine, fine, let's go..." Raemond sighed, taking Lantos' reigns as he noticed Beau already clambering into the saddle. As the monk began leading the sleepy, grumpy horse over roots and around boggy ground, he mentioned to the 13-year-old, "You are one spoiled brat. Do you know that?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"... That's the strangest report I've ever heard."

Several rough-looking mean and women were gathered up in a cave to listen to a leaner man dressed like them, in hide-and-cloth clothing and tough leather and wooden armor. A little metal was used for their armor in some patches, but the metal was mostly reserved for their weapons. These people were used to living in the wilderness, never visiting any sort of civilization and camoflauging themselves as they could, even though with them in the cave were good amounts of supplies and even some riches. Among those gathered to listen, two stood out: apparently, the leaders.

"So what you're saying you saw was a boy, a monk, a military pegasus knight and a swordswoman with a pegasus and a horse come into Elyisima from Septimus, then they started running and a big shadow thing raced through the trees and the monk and the boy were separated from the women?" asked one of the leaders.

"Yes, sir," the one reporting replied, "I know it sounds crazy, but it's what we saw."

"Could be him," muttered the second leader to his equal.

"Well, of course it could be. Why else would there be an Elyisimian pegasus knight from the military looking after him? He's about the right age, too," the first replied.

"If he is, he won't be shy about it. Want to set up an ambush?"

"What do you think? We can't risk slipping this up. We may finally achieve our goal!" he looked over to one of their newer members. "Kiera! We've got a job for you."

"Hey! I'm in charge, too! We have to talk about these kinds of things!"

"It'll be fine! I'm just keeping things in our favor! Trust me every once in a while!"

As the blood splattered onto the ground, Aiya grimaced and loosened her grip.

"Are you okay Alf? Maybe we should stop this, I think you might have broken something."

"*cough* *cough* urghh....yeah good idea...*cough*" Alf groaned, dropping his axe and clutching his stomach.

"Oh dear, my digestive tract shall never be the same again."

Sunny and Viv

The stables, they were Susann's only shield from the cold weather it seemed, and with that big open door and windows, it wasn't helping as much as she would have liked. Even her rider wasn't enjoying it much, though she was covered in thicker stuff than normal. That wasn't fair, she wanted a thicker coat too.

Viveka: Okay, Sunny, how are you doing? Can you deal with this for awhile or am I going to come back to find you as a popsicle peggie later on?

The uncomfortable pegasus whinnied loudly. She didn't know what Viveka was talking about but she wasn't conjuring up anything to make the situation any better and that was just infuriating.

Viveka: Calm down, would you?

Another whinny came, and she even reared up in her stall this time in protest.

Viveka: Wow ... I haven't even seen Bellerophon complaining this much ...

... and then another rearing whinny in outrage ....

Timeskip

The guests were escorted to their rooms when tey wished to go to sleep and the night passed without much of note happening. Charlotte woke up the next morning to a slight drizzle outside, a more hospitable weather than the night before at least. She went downstairs and had breakfast-the first Jerdonian breakfast she had had in quite some time which was a small comfort, and sat downstairs waiting for the others to get up. Once they were awake she would set her plan into motion.

Esphyr slept in a bit longer than she had intended, and immediately after freshening up, her hunger made its self known. So, naturally, she headed down for breakfast. Not many had gathered yet, but there was Charlotte. She wasn't sure if it was the best desision to talk with her right now or not. She was probably busy sorting out what she was going to do now, but maybe a friendly distraction would be welcome. Esphyr wasn't sure. (Well, the worst that can happen is she tells me she'd rather not talk right now.) So, the mercenary walked over and greeted the princess. "Hi. Do you mind if I sit next to you? You look like you've got a lot on your mind."

Princess

Charlotte had been so lost in thought that she hadn't noticed Esphyr coming up to her and so was a bit startled when she spoke to her.

"Oh, sure that's no problem at all. I suppose I have been rather lost in my own thoughts lately...being declared dead is harder to deal with than I had anticipated. I'm thinking about going to the summit to reveal that I am indeed alive there...but maybe they won't believe me either," Charlotte said in a rather melancholy tone. She didn't think Esphyr cared much about her problems, not after what she had said back in Burgosas anyway, but it was good to talk with someone at least.

Not a Princess

Petros had been creating tunnels down through Septimus into Elysimia, deep underground. Shanice had been sent to gather demons, being able to travel the continent at rapid rates to attract them in large numbers. Petros could see the effects of his recruitment already, as the tunnels began to fill up with gorgons, hellhounds, and other powerful demons. The time of reckoning was drawing closer...

"Well, I guess it would be a problem," she replied, sitting next to the princess, "since you're a princess and them knowing you're alive is kind of important. Sorry I can't relate much. Still, telling everyone you're alive at the summit is a good idea. Sounds like a steadier step than what you're doing right now. Though it's not like that doesn't have risk to it, too, since Jace might be there." As she spoke, Esphyr began loading her plate with a nice, simple breakfast. When she was done speaking, she began eating, waiting to listen to what the princess had to say.

"Right I suppose Jace might be there...but attacking me in front of everyone just supports my claims, so I don't think it will come to blows. He'll probably claim I'm not the princess- obviously false since he's tried to have me killed already. Still, better to defend myself than to sit back and do nothing. Being in Jerdon...doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere," Charlotte replied to Esphyr rather sadly.

"Yeah, but that should change after you get more support from the other countries, right? Even just yesterday, Derek and Tristan's help was enough to convince the other Jerdonians who you are. It'll be irrefutable soon," she replied casually, accepting it as fact and reason as she ate.

"I...didn't think they were quite as convinced as you might think, but thank you for your support Esphyr. It's good to have someone confident that this will all turn out for the best. Just need the others to get up now I suppose, then we can visit an old friend of mine that should be in the area," Charlotte said to Esphyr.

Viv

Once again, Viveka found herself waking up with only a little bit of movement, and she stayed put. She decided while half asleep to wait just a little while before heading down for breakfast. She was still stressed and tired, so she wanted to take advantage of the luxury and rest up just a little bit more.

Jazz

It was a real nightmare for the young sergeant. She was supposed to escort the young heir but the group had been separated. In hindsight, she supposed she could have tried to arrange it so Beau was riding with her. With the heir able to get airborne, it would be much easier to regroup. Since the most relevant party, and she hate thinking of him that way ... since he was grounded in terrain like this, they would be in serious trouble in an emergency.

When she had gathered her thoughts and decided on their next course of action, she got out of her bedroll, and folded it up as tightly as she could before getting it onto her pegasus. Once Tiria was up and about, she explained her idea.

Jasmine: Okay, I've got no idea where they went and sending them a signal didn't work, so what I'm thinking we should do is try an aerial search ... futile as that might be, it's really our only option. I think the estate may be in this area too so if we spot it, we can probably head over there and search around the grounds. Either way it's going to be a long day from the looks of things.

Dan

The hostlers had been straightened out, but her pegasus was still missing, and likely cutting a few lives short. Daneka could only sigh as she grabbed her things and prepared to leave the inn. Not sure what to do with the parrot, she let it perch on her shoulder until she could find its owner. No one staying at the inn seemed to own it, so staying around there and waiting was utterly pointless.

Bidding farewell to Xenia and the mercenaries for the time being, she made her way down the streets, keeping an eye out for someone in particular. She hadn't brought him up verbally in awhile, but she was thinking about Alphonse. He was always at her side unless she had sent him off somewhere or she was freshening up. Where could he be, she wondered. No matter where she looked he just wasn't there. She even bothered calling out a few times and nothing.

Parrot: Madam Colonel!

Daneka: ... >_>

The parrot almost fooled her somehow. That was annoying ...

When she finally made it back to the castle, she was accosted by a trio of hostlers.

Hostler1: Oh we are so glad you're here, Ma'am.

Daneka: Did Nyx come back here?

Hostler1: Yeah she did, and we gave her the pocky but ...

Daneka: But what?

Hostler1: Uh ... you should probably just come see for yourself, Ma'am.

Hostler2: ... nice parrot ...

The hostlers led Daneka over to the stables and she didn't know what to make of the scene there. A bunch of people were gathered around as if something miraculous had happened. Frankly the hostlers didn't know what to think of what had just happened. Nyx had broken off her own horn trying to impale one of them. Seeing her horn sticking through a support beam, she wasn't sure what to think herself. Could she not kill people anymore? At least a few of the hostlers were suppressing laughs while they wrapped their wounds.

Daneka: ... oh Nyx ....

Parrot: Glue!

Ugh, I've definitely had better nights rest then this last one before. Whatever that... thing was made me so nervous. It could have come back and... ugh. Today should be interesting. Getting up, Tiria listened as Jasmine explained the plan. "Understood. That seems like a good plan to me. I can be ready as soon as you are."

The sun rose, And Aiya rose with it. Earlier than she had awoken since before the incident in Vaorin. She recalled the night before, where Alferis had been mildly injured during a spar. The manse medic had taken a look at him, and deemed him to be in no real danger. A bit of some painkilling herbs and he was sent to his room for the night to rest. Reaching the door, Aiya knocked on it lightly.

"Hey Alf? Are you awake? It's Aiya."

**********

When Damian woke up, Aiya was already awake and gone. Small remnants of her heat lingered on the sheets, rousing him awake. The scent of crisp Jerdonian morning air hit his nose, spread through his sleepy body.

"It's been too long since I've been in Jerdon... the air is crisp and clean..." Damian muttered to himself as he rose out of the bed, and dressed himself, moving to the dining area, seeing Esphyr and Charlotte conversing.

'I suppose, it had to happen eventually...' Damian noted to himself, stepping towards where the two were talking.

"Good Morning, Charlotte, Esphyr." Damian said to the two of them, nodding to each as he mentioned them.
