[spoiler=enter, part two]PART THE SECOND: STORMS BREWING

Crimea had long stood as the counterpart to Daein. As long as both were ruled by stable governments, no problems were had between the nations. Trade was encouraged - despite a little bit of long-standing bad blood - and the general peoples would gather for festivals and other events. The two had had a long and not unkind history, until the rise of Mad King Ashnard.

In the wake of the Mad King's War, Crimea had found itself smashed to pieces and struggling desperately to rebuild. The support of the Gallian laguz to the south hastened the procedure greatly, and with the support of the laguz Crimea quickly found itself growing prosperous again. As naturally happens, however, when people get comfortable they get greedy - and when a nation gets fat, other nations begin to turn covetous eyes on it...

PROLOGUE: BY SILKEN WINGS

"Lovely day to be flying, isn't it?"

Elincia Ridell Crimea I, first queen of Crimea, was enjoying herself immensely. She loved flying, and her countryside was the best on Tellius from this vantage. Rolling hills giving way to breathtaking drops and all of it covered in the purest shade of green this side of Heaven. Yes, she reflected, some days life was just good.

"It's always a lovely day, if you're to be believed."

"Well that's because it always is, Marcia!" Ah! Marcia could be so infuriating. No matter! She always seemed to enjoy herself despite.

"...hey, what's that?" Marcia piped up, after a short silence.

"Huh?" Elincia turned her head to face where Marcia was looking. "Looks like ...wyverns? What are wyverns doing here?"

"Beats me. Let's go check it out!"

--

"Excuse me!"

"Guh?"

"Oh, you're from Begnion! Um, what are you doing on this side of the border?"

"You're -! You're the queen!"

"Oh, yes I am. Why, if I may ask?"

"Grab her, lads!"

"Gra- huh?!"

So it was that the smallest of trespasses started a terrible series of events.

--

"Haar! HAAR!! What the devil are you doing here?!"

"Huh? Oh, hullo Marcia."

"Answer my question!"

"Making a delivery."

"Well not anymore! Buncha Begnion wyverns just came outta nowhere!"

"Hum. You look fine, Marcia."

"Not me - dammit, Haar! Elincia's having trouble!"

"Elincia? Hm. Okay, on my way."

"Finally, fuck, finally! Thank you!"

"Yep."

--

"The hell was that all about?" Marcia demanded of nobody in particular.

"I ...I don't know. Oh, hello Nealuchi!"

"Hmph. Thanks for the help."

"What was that all about?"

"They were trying to steal Leanne. That doesn't happen."

"...oh. Why did they chase you over my borders?" Elincia darkened. "I don't like it when people penetrate my borders."

Nealuchi laughed a horrible squawking laugh. "Might we rest in Melior, then? I'm old and she's fragile ..."

"Oh! Of course, of course! I do love having guests. Oh, hello Haar!"

CHAPTER I: BY SODDEN FEET

"Nephenee! NEPH-EN-EE!"

"Huh? What'sit, Brom?"

"Damn youngins're congregatin' over in the square, and somethin's whippin' them into a frenzy."

"Aw hell, Brom. What're we now, peacekeepers?"

"Yup, guess so."

"Arright, I'll grab my stuff."

"'nother thing, Neph?"

"Yeah, Brom?"

"I keep hearin' 'em talk bad about Lincy."

"What? We ain't gonna stand for them talkin' bad about Her Majesty!"

Brom laughed a hearty laugh. "Up'n about then, Neph!"

So it was that two farmfolks left their beds to squabble with the youth.

--

The way to the square had, moments ago, been blocked by armored guards. To say the least, it wasn't anymore. Brom stormed into the square, Nephenee ten steps behind.

"What'n the world's goin' on here, then?"

A tall man turned from the crowd to face him, and spoke in a voice pitched for all to hear. "Ah, see here! The queen's spies are here to silence me! See, how her eyes are in every corner of our happy nation?"

The crowd roared in agreement.

"What do you have to say for yourself, then?"

"I say you oughn't be talkin' bad about Her Majesty like this, mister."

"I speak only true words about a weak queen!"

"Weak?! Hell you on about?"

"Yes, weak! She only won her war due to intervention from men! She sits now on her throne because of men! She walks, advised by men! Do you not see? A woman should hold no throne!"

"Aw that's it, boy. Now you've got me angry. Nephenee! You been listenin'?"

"Oh, Brom, I've been listenin'. You ain't walkin' out of Ohma alive, mister."

CHAPTER II: LUDVECK OF FELIRAE

"You sure about this, Lucia?"

Lucia sighed. "Of course I am, Elincia. Somebody has to figure out what's going on, and it's far too dangerous for you to go in person."

Elincia scowled. "I guess you're right. I still don't like it."

Lucia laughed. "You don't have to like it, but it still has to get done."

"You won't be going alone, will you?"

"Of course not! I'll be taking Leanne."

"LEANNE?!"

"It's all I really need if I get into a bind. Don't fret so much."

"I'll fret as much as I want to. It's my right as queen!"

Lucia sighed, again. "What am I going to do with you?"

--

"So ...why are we down here?"

"To prove my innocence, of course! I would never plot against Her Majesty."

"And the evidence is ...in these caves?"

"Yes it is."

"Hm."

Leanne most distinctly did not like this plan. She was modestly certain Lucia had no control over the situation, and equally sure she had no idea how to communicate her fears. The end result was a very wary Heron with a very limited course of action, so she stuck to Lucia and mostly just hoped everything would go all right.

When Duke Ludveck vanished into the dark and was replaced by several dozen soldiers, Leanne could only curse in a most un-ladylike fashion (even if anybody else just heard pleasant chirps) and hope even harder that everything would somehow turn out okay.

So it was that Lucia made an absolutely terrible decision and found herself boxed into a trap.

--

The two women staggered up into the daylight.

"Well, that was invigorating! I think we can be fairly sure Ludveck is plotting against Elincia now."

Leanne only glared at Lucia with the purest hatred she could muster - which, frankly, wasn't much - and chirped a delightfully melodic pox on her household.

CHAPTER III: THE MAN WITH A MISSION

"So I figure all you need to do is take Ludveck out before he gets you and we're set."

Elincia nodded at Lucia's report. "It sounds like a good plan. I'll go tell Geoffrey."

Elincia puttered off.

"I'll leave the particulars to you, of course, but it's not a bad plan right?"

"No it isn't, Your Majesty."

Elincia clapped her hands together. "So you'll take care of it?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Oh thank you thank you thank you Geoffrey!"

"It's a pleasure, ma'am."

"You'll be taking the knights, I assume?"

"I don't see a reason to. I doubt he's ready for me."

Elincia's eyes sparkled. "Okay, if you say so..."

So it was that Geoffrey took Marcia and attacked Felirae.

--

"So then, Commander. What's the plan?"

Geoffrey pointed at the looming fortress. "We take it."

"Just, um...just the two of us?" Marcia giggled nervously. "That doesn't sound like a good idea, Commander."

"We'll be fine, Marcia. Just follow my lead."

"O-kay, whatever you say."

--

The Crimean national flag flew over Castle Felirae as Marcia stared in absolute wonder at First Commander Geoffrey, Crimean Royal Knights. Geoffrey stood proud atop the castle, leaning on the flagpole. "See, Marcia? It wasn't that hard." he said to her.

"Yeah, Commander. I ...uh, guess you were right. Wow."

Geoffrey nodded. "I'll secure things here. You get back to Melior STAT and report to Elincia."

"Uh, roger that, Commander!"

FINAL CHAPTER: EARTH VERSUS SKY

"Oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no..." Elincia muttered as she walked briskly down the halls, wringing her hands. "Leanne!"

Leanne perked up and chirped a question.

"No time for that now, we have a problem. We're being attacked by Ludveck."

Leanne chirped angrily.

"I know, I know! He's a jerk and I wish he would just go away. I think we might have to just kill him, but Lucia's disappeared and I don't know what to do."

Leanne sighed heavily and chirped once.

"You're right!" Elincia perked up. "I'll take Amiti out and you can help me!"

Leanne chirped incredulously, but Elincia was having none of it.

"You're the best, Leanne!"

Leanne was not happy.

So it was that Leanne, third princess of Serenes, was all but drafted into the Crimean Royal Knighthood.

--

"Duke Ludveck of Felirae!"

"How did you --" Ludveck stared at the two small women staring him down.

"I rode a pegasus, and she sang pretty songs!" Elincia glared at the man. "What have you done with Lucia?!"

"I'm merely keeping her safe for you until you can join her, of course.

"I don't like the way you say that."

"Oh, she's unharmed for now. I was waiting for you to join her for any of that."

"Well, I won't be joining her! And you're going to get out of my country now."

Ludveck sighed. "And you're going to ...make me?"

"Uh-huh!"

Leanne chirped in horror and tried to dodge all of the projectiles flying her way while Elincia and Ludveck squabbled, and hoped once again that everything would magically be okay.

[spoiler=yay]PART THE THIRD: A MARCH OF BEASTMEN

Off the southern border of Crimea lies Gallia. Gallia is a nation of demihumans, who kept mostly to themselves until the Mad King's War. Events there caused them to negotiate more intimately with the human nations, which shortly lead to full-fledged cooperation between Gallia and Crimea.

As the systems came to grow closer together, Gallia became more aware of world problems - and the world became more aware of Gallian problems. Notable among the latter was the massive country of Begnion, which sought often to increase its own holdings one way or another. Stung bitterly by its defeat a year prior in Daein, Begnion turned hungry eyes southward, to the forests and the swamps controlled by obviously inferior beings...

PROLOGUE: ENLISTING THEIR AID

"Commander! You've got a visitor!"

"Huh? Alright, Rolf, let's go see him."

Commander Ike of the Greil Mercenaries strode down the halls of his ancestral fort behind the younger man towards an uncertain guest. Who would visit this fort, in the middle of nowhere? Not many people even knew about it. Judging by Rolf's mannerisms, the guest wasn't likely to be here to visit old friends. What, then? A contract, perhaps?

Ike entered a larger chamber to be greeted by an enormous red figure, who turned to look as Ike slowed.

"Hm. Hello, Commander Ike." the figure rumbled.

"King Caineghis. It's been a while."

"That it has."

"What brings you all the way out here?"

"I would like to purchase your services."

"Ah. What's the occasion, that you would visit yourself?"

"Begnion is becoming belligerent, conducting exercises and war-games on our mutual border. They're not responded to my demands that they cease, and I fear war is imminent."

Ike nodded. "I see. How long?"

"I'd request your service for a single year, no more."

Ike nodded again, slower this time. "I see no problems with that. Rolf! Go fetch Soren. Tell him we have a customer."

"Uh-huh! On it, Commander!"

So it was that the Greil Mercenaries were procured by the glorious nation of Gallia for the period of one year.

--

"You sure about this, Ike?"

"Huh? Shouldn't I be?"

"Heh. You've definitely got Dad's confidence."

"Hmph."

"Just thinking, y'know, was it really smart to bring just four of us?"

Ike shrugged. "Soren said the rest would be better used elsewhere. Plus, why are you complaining? We've got Titania."

"She can't do everything, Ike."

"Sure she can."

"You've been talking to Boyd again, haven't you?"

"What, shouldn't I? I like Boyd."

Mist sighed. "Dammit, Ike. Stop being so ...flippant!"

"No."

"Hmph." Mist punched him in the shoulder. "Don't get dumb and dead."

"Fine."

--

"I'm just saying, I REALLY don't like being the only girl here."

"Oh come off it, Mia, you know us better than that."

"No, Oscar, I THINK I do! There's a really big difference!"

"Go complain to Soren, then. He's the one who decided we all needed to be over here instead of up there."

"I wonder about that little man sometimes..."

--

"Where the hell is Skrimir?"

"I dunno, Commander." Titania stood straighter on her horse to peer around. "He was supposed to meet us here."

Ike grumbled under his breath and paced around for a while. "Why is he this way?"

"Mmm."

"Ike! Ike!"

"Mist?"

"Yeah. Skrimir says he got held up."

"Is the problem taken care of?"

"If you mean 'Mist did you bail his sorry ass out', yeah."

"Finally." Ike sighed. "Alright, tell him he's got the gate, we're moving inside."

"Can do! ROLF!"

CHAPTER I: WITH SURGICAL PRECISION

"Right. Boyd, you're in charge back here."

"'course I am."

"Make sure it stays open 'til Skrimir gets here."

"Yeah, I got it."

"Right then, take care."

"Uh-huh."

So it was that the Mercs moved on the fortress in the stillness of the night.

--

"...and so I found this gem just sitting on the shelf."

"Gotcha beat, Rolf."

"What? How can you beat this shiny thing?"

"Walked into a house, and there was this woman. She took one look at me, screeched at the top of her lungs about subhumans, and just booked it. Then she threw this robe at me to coerce me to not eat her."

"Dammit, Mist. That's ...really awesome."

"I know! Isn't it? I don't even think I'll tell Ike, I think I'll just use it myself."

"That's, um, not so great."

"Don't you go telling him, Rolf. It's my damn robe."

"Fine, fine."

CHAPTER II: ADVANCES

"Next stop's across the Begnion border, Ike."

Ike grunted. "So we're taking it to them already, huh?"

"Well, they didn't make it very far into Gallia, so ...yeah, we are."

"Right. We're formalizing last week's plan starting now - the bulk of you are becoming Skrimir's support."

"As I planned."

"Good. I pay you to think ahead of me."

So it was that the Mercs invaded Begnion, the only human nation they had thus far not invaded.

--

"OW! Holy ...fucking ...Christ...that's all my blood. Oh, wow..."

"Rolf? ROLF! Stick with me, man!"

"I think I got him, Mist..."

"Yeah, yeah, you did. Keep it together." Mist fumbled for her staff. "Hold still. Holy fuck, where are you even hurt?"

"It's, like, around there...ish..." Rolf prodded himself in various places. "Yeah, I think that hurts more..."

"Stop doing that! Hold - fucking - still!" Mist started the healing.

"You think the Commander's ...you think ...yeah, he's probably already won..."

"Stop talking!"

"no."

--

"Strange fellow, but he's dead now, Commander. The Begnion troops are routing."

Ike nodded. "Let them go for now."

"Alright." Titania reined in next to him. "Wonder how the kids are doing."

"They're probably fine. Ranulf's got the flank, doesn't he?"

"Yeah, you're right. They're probably sipping drinks and waiting for us."

CHAPTER III: SOWING FEAR AND CONFUSION

"Scouts just got back, Ike. They've found the Begnion senators."

"Heh. Good. You got a plan for that?"

"Of course I do. That's my job."

"Mhm. What is it?"

"Get in there tonight, burn their supplies and tents. Let their horses out, cause havoc. They're weak - they probably won't be able to cope with personal threats so easily."

Ike nodded. "Nothing quite like putting the fear of God in them, eh Soren?"

"You tell me when you get back, Commander."

"You're enjoying sitting these out way too much."

"I don't think that's possible."

"Hm."

So it was that the Mercs undertook their third night skirmish since beginning the war.

--

Titania trotted up to the eastern pen. Four horses - four sad, dejected horses - ran around inside, confused by all the commotion. "Run free, little ponies." she murmured, as she shattered the gate with a single mighty blow. "Run free."

--

Ike blitzed through the enemy lines to find himself staring into the wide eyes of a horse. Recalling Soren's words from earlier, he hefted his mighty blade and brought it crashing down on the bars of the makeshift cage. It shattered spectacularly, and he threw himself aside to avoid being trampled by the escaping masses.

--

"That's the last of them?"

"That's it, Commander. Everything's on fire."

"Excellent. Good work back there, Titania."

"Mhm, and to you."

"Go call Mist and Rolf back, we're getting out of here."

"Right."

CHAPTER IV: EXCELSIOR!

"Bad news, Chief."

"Hng? What's it, Gat?"

"Skrimir just went haring off after a sighting of General Zelgius. Soren said you'd probably want to get to him, and Ranulf's just furious."

Ike sighed. "That man... I should have just told his uncle no."

Gatrie grinned. "Where's the fun in that, Chief?"

"Fun." Ike scoffed. "You spend most of your time with Lyre."

"That's the fun part."

"I hate you."

--

"RANULF!"

"There you are. Ike, he's up there."

"Up the fucking mountain? Really?"

"Hey, I didn't send him there. Don't bitch at me."

"Fine." Ike growled. "We go UP then."

"Yeah, yeah."

So it was that Ike got really angry and had to climb a Goddamn mountain.

--

"C'mon, Ranulf. Hop up."

"A ride for me? Oh, Titania, you shouldn't have."

"Hush, you. Ike's orders. He wants you to the top when he is, and he's not taking this slow."

Ranulf sighed. "Why's he in such a big rush?"

"Dunno, don't care. Get on."

Ranulf complied, and the two rode in silence up the hill as laguz fought to clear them a path ahead and Ike ran alongside. Eventually, they came to a high ledge and Ranulf was unceremoniously ejected from Titania's horse as she rode off to support the failing Gallians.

"Thanks." he mumbled as she rode away, before he turned to the grueling task of climbing. Why was Skrimir like this?

--

Ike and Ranulf came to a narrow pass in the mountain, guarded by two armored knights in red.

"Out of my way." Ike demanded of the left, who responded by tightening his guard.

"General Zelgius's express orders were to keep him undisturbed!"

"I'm sorry, do I have the look of somebody who gives a fuck what General Zelgius wants? Out of my way, now."

The man, still, refused to move, so Ike took it upon himself to remove him from his way.

CHAPTER V: HOLDING THE FORT

"Caineghis just sent word, Ike. He's recalling Skrimir for what sounds like a thorough lecture."

Ike grunted. "He deserves it. What word of us, then?"

"We're pulling back to the line, all of us. We're to hold until Skrimir returns."

"Hm. We could certainly use the rest, I'll admit."

"As you say."

The door to the room burst open to admit Mist, wide-eyed and panting furiously.

"Ike! We have a problem!"

"Hn?"

"Begnion's coming in on the fort! I sent Oscar off to the laguz for reinforcements, but he'll be a while."

"So they're attacking us. Heh."

"Heh? This is funny?!" Mist whacked him solidly. "Get up! This is serious!"

Ike straightened languorously. "This isn't as big a deal as you make it out to be, Mist."

"We're not all invincible, like you!"

"True. Let's go, then."

So it was that the Mercs were brought to arms by a sudden reversal of fortune.

--

Ike and Mist forged out into the daylight to be greeted by an extremely chipper Rolf.

"Mornin', Commander! Titania says you can all just go back to bed, the situation's under control."

"The s- huh?!" Mist demanded.

"Apparently as soon as I threatened the Begnion commander, the rest of the troops just fell back. Neat, huh?"

Mist stared at him in shocked silence.

"Yeah, that's about what I figured. Oh, hey, you guys remember Reyson?"

"Uh-huh."

"Yeah, he's here too. Wants to say hi to Ike."

"Hmph. Good thing I came up here, then." Ike patted Mist on the shoulder. "Thank you for fetching me."

"He... I..."

I got both Jill and Fiona, and there is no reason, Story-wise, for them to not be availible in 1-8.

IS decided to fuck around with us on this one.....

Actually, there is. Micaiah is taking only her "old friends", and appqarently new friends and sothe's old friends as well. However, Jill and Fiona are both people who govern pieces of Daein, Marado & Talrega respectively. Although Jill has been kicked out by begnion probably. However, They are both landowning nobles, jill is kinda iffy, but she has the right to succed her father. In the end Micaiah gives Jill governance over Talrage again. And it was stated somehwere that she would not use the "daein troops" or something to that extent. Thus, ZIhark, not connected to ruling any of Daein, is able toi go, whereas Jill is not. Fiona is also daein troops. Tauroneo even agrees that they shouldn't go. Bully that he is.

[spoiler=back to the rivers of belief]CHAPTER VI: AGAINST THE HALF-MEN

"I hate this, Sothe."

"Huh?"

"I just ...I don't like working for Begnion. Something's wrong here."

"I figured."

Micaiah sighed. "I suppose we're following Pelleas, though. We'll figure it out."

"Yep."

"How long 'til they're here?"

Sothe glanced up. "General Zelgius estimated they'd come by a few hours past dark, so ...soon."

"Okay. And we'll be ready?"

"Yep."

So it was that the Dawn Brigade lay in wait for the retreating laguz of the Gallian Army.

--

"Up and about! Gotta move, guys!"

Edward ran about the Dawn Brigade camp, shouting at everything and everybody. "Zelgius says the cats aren't where we thought! Get moving!"

Micaiah started and blinked at Sothe. "Not ...where ...oh no."

"Heh?"

"I know where they are." Micaiah grabbed Sothe's arm. "Come on, we can get there to help faster than them."

"Wha-? Sure, right behind you."

A Daein lieutenant saluted the two as they ran up to his post. General Zelgius had stationed several of these around the main ambush point, in case the Gallians didn't act as he expected - and it seemed to have paid off. "What's the situation, Lieutenant?" Micaiah asked.

"Gallians are, um, everywhere, ma'am." the man responded. "I don't think they've noticed us, though."

Micaiah nodded. "Good. Pull your patrol back, I've got things here."

The man saluted briskly. "Ma'am."

--

Micaiah hobbled back to the waiting patrol to find a tall figure clad in black armor waiting for her alongside Sothe.

"...you."

"Maiden."

"Late again, I see."

The Black Knight snorted. "I admit, I did not expect your ...competence."

Micaiah laughed. "That seems to be the way of things, Sir Knight."

"It seems I was not needed here."

"Mmm. Still, your presence is a little comforting."

"Comforting." The Black Knight sighed. "It will have to do, I suppose."

Micaiah smiled up at him. "You'll just have to be around more!"

The Black Knight stared at her in silence before walking off.

CHAPTER VII: FORDING THE RIVER

"So the short of it is they knew where we were."

Ike grunted. "Of course they did. What's the plan?"

Ranulf shrugged. "Cross the river. We have to one way or another."

"Alright. They can't be too settled yet, we'll just knock them off. Leave it to us."

"Thanks, Ike."

"Sure."

So it was that the Greil Mercenaries tangled with the Dawn Brigade for the first time.

--

Rolf grinned at the Dawn Brigade from his perch atop a central island. "They can see me, Commander! I think they're scared."

"That means they're smart, Rolf."

"Heh. Thanks, Commander."

"Hell, with the way those kids are looking at you I doubt we'll even have to push them off. They'll probably just retreat of their own accord."

"That'd be ni- hey! Zihark!"

Zihark stared at Rolf. "You've ...grown."

"Uh-huh!"

"So you're all here."

"Yeah. Are you really fighting us?"

"Looks that way..."

"Huh." Rolf shrugged. "Pity, I guess. See you on the other side, Z!"

"Wha-?"

Rolf's arrows interrupted Zihark's incredulous shout.

--

"Oh no, no no no this isn't good."

"I don't like the way this is turning out, Micaiah..."

"You don't say?!"

"Zelgius only wanted us to stall them."

"Think we've been here long enough?"

"Let's pull back, Micaiah."

"O-okay. I'm right behind you."

"C'mon. DAWN BRIGADE! We're falling back!"

CHAPTER IX: NARRATIVE, INTERRUPTED

"Geoffrey! Oh, Geoffrey!"

Elincia roamed the halls of her castle, searching and calling out for her knight-commander.

"Huh?" Geoffrey said as he raided his head from a map he had been studying. "What is it, Your Majesty?"

"Oh Geoffrey there you are! We have another really big problem."

"What sort of a problem?"

"Well you remember how I let Zelgius go through Crimea?"

Geoffrey nodded.

"His troops are all raiding our villages now, Geoffrey!"

Geoffrey blinked. "What? He said-"

"I know what he said! I also know what's happening right now! Geoffrey, what can we do?"

"Give me Marcia, I'll handle the problem."

Elincia's eyes sparkled. "Oh, Geoffrey, you're the best. Thank you thank you thank you thank you!"

Geoffrey nodded, then turned on his heel and strode out.

So it was that Commander Geoffrey, Crimean Royal Knights set out to engage the Begnion Army with a single trustworthy subordinate.

--

"So, uh..." Marcia giggled nervously. "What's your plan this time, Commander?"

"The leader of this raid is probably up high, where he can oversee everything. I'll handle the raiders, you go encourage him to leave."

"How'm I supposed to do that?"

"Kill him, preferably."

Marcia blinked in surprise. "Um, right. Roger that, Commander."

"I knew I could count on you."

--

"The commander's dead!"

"We can't even hurt her!"

"Run! RUUUUUUN!"

Begnion soldiers fled the streets, chased by a variety of epithets and hurled javelins. Marcia flew down to meet with Geoffrey, and grinned as she saw him.

"All done, Commander. They were slower than I expected."

"Mhm. The houses are all intact, nothing more than a little smoke damage."

"Grand! So what's this mean?"

"I'm ...not sure, but it will be bad. Be ready, Marcia."

"Roger that, Commander."

CHAPTER X: ELINCIA'S FOOLPROOF GAMBIT

"Ike! IIIIIKE! We've got a REALLY big problem!"

Ike sat up in bed. Apparently, the sun was up and apparently Mist wanted him. "Huh?"

"Lincy's here!"

Ike blinked sleepily. "How in the world is that a bad thing?"

"She's, um, taunting the Begnion army!"

"SHE'S WHAT?!"

So it was that Ike was forced out of bed and into combat.

--

"ELINCIA! What the FUCK do you think you're doing?!"

Elincia looked up at Ike from the ground with teary eyes. Blood seeped from a number of major wounds, and neither her pegasus nor her sword were anywhere to be seen.

"I...I thought he would listen, Ike."

"What?"

"I thought General Zelgius would...would..." Elincia began sobbing.

"What were you even thinking, going in alone without any way to defend yourself? What would you have done if I hadn't shown up?!"

"I ...I don't ...please stop shouting."

Ike groaned. "It's okay. You're alive. GATRIE!"

"Present!"

How did that man move so fast? "Get her safely back to Rhys. Quick."

"Got it, Commander! C'mon, Elincia." Gatrie lifted her up. "Ol' Gat gotcha. Let's go."

--

"General Zelgius!"

"Levail?"

"The men just opened fire on Queen Elincia of Crimea! Orders?"

"What? Who gave that order?"

"Senator Valtome, sir."

"How dare- come, Levail."

"Behind you, sir."

--

"They're pulling back, Ike."

"Probably because we just annihilated them, Titania."

"That'd do it. What happened with Elincia?"

"I'll explain it later."

"As you say."

CHAPTER XI: THE LONG HAUL

"Ike."

Ike stared down at the young woman holding her arms up to him. "Up." she commanded, so he complied by hefting her up and placing her on his shoulder. She took a moment to settle herself, then smiled smugly and turned to face Sigrun.

"You can go now, Sigrun. Go fetch Ragnell."

"I ...ah, I see, Apostle." Sigrun bowed and retreated to go searching. Sanaki turned her head down to look at Ike.

"It's good to see you, Ike."

"And you, Snacks."

She frowned deeply. "Don't call me that."

"I let you perch up there, I should call you what I want."

"No, you let me perch because I am the apostle. You have no choice in the matter."

Ike only shook his head.

--

"As it stands now, Commander, we're looking to cross the Great Bridge straight into Begnion territory."

Ike nodded, and Sanaki nodded alongside him. "And you'll be joining us?"

Sigrun sighed. "It's the apostle's wish."

"Good. I always wanted you to fight with us in the Mad King's War."

"Truly?" Sigrun laughed. "Well, it's good to be welcome! I'll do my best."

"Good."

So it was that Ike assaulted the same damn bridge he'd assaulted in the last damn war.

--

"Hey! Leanne!"

Marcia flew up to greet the heron. "How've you been? Oh, heh, that's a silly thing to ask. Not like I can understand you, eh?"

"I ...have good!"

"Do what."

Leanne scowled. "I have good."

"You're ...talking."

Leanne chirped in exasperation. "I ...find ...is better for talk."

Marcia laughed. "You're talking! Ha! Elincia will be absolutely thrilled by this!"

"Is ...good, yes?"

"Yes! Yes!"

--

"Hey there, handsome." Marcia grinned. "How've you been?"

"Heh. Marcia. Here to carry me around like a sack of beans?"

"Just like old times, Ike. You look good."

"Mmm. You too. By the way, Rolf's here and he misses you sorely."

"Oh, Rolf's here? Hop on, then, we're gonna go see him!"

"Figured that'd be it."

--

"Last stop!"

Ike hopped off the pegasus with a grunt. "That was too much like the Mad King's War."

"Yeah, yeah, deal with it. It's always a rocky ride with me, handsome."

"Why couldn't Sigrun carry me around?"

"Ooh, Ike! You got eyes for another lady?"

"Marcia..."

"Teasing. Teasing."

"Hmph."

"Go get 'em, handsome."

CHAPTER XII: SPRINGING THE TRAP

"Convoy's on the way, Micaiah."

"Mm. Everybody's in position?"

"Yep."

Micaiah sighed. "Let's be about it, then. I want the apostle taken alive. I know the Senate said dead, but I think she can answer some questions."

"Yep."

So it was that the Dawn Brigade made an attempt on Apostle Sanaki herself.

--

"Plan?"

"I'll try to distract the bulk of them. I want you to cut a path to and grab the apostle. 'kay?"

"Gotcha. Should I even tell you to be safe?"

Micaiah giggled. "Nah. I'll be fine."

"You'd better be."

"Oh, Sothe. I'll bleed a lot, but I'll be fine."

"If you say so."

--

"Haa ...ahh..."

"Pull back! Retreat! We can't go through here!"

"What?!"

"She's a demon! Pull back!"

Apostle Sanaki's loyal troops fled the ravine, while Micaiah stumbled after.

"Won't ...have to ...aah..."

Micaiah gave up the chase, and returned to her camp.

CHAPTER XIII: REMATCH!

"You blunted the ENTIRE charge! By yourself!"

"Yes..."

Micaiah had been quite literally forced into bed by an unholy combination of Laura and Pelleas, and was forbidden to rise. This, of course, made her a little grumpy. She tried to keep it to herself, though - she suspected there was a good reason for keeping her here.

"You shouldn't have done that! You said the Daein forces were going to support you!"

"They ...were. I ...got carried away, I suppose."

"You suppose. You SUPPOSE?!"

"Sothe, calm down. I-"

"I know, I know, you're alive. Because that's supposed to make me feel better."

"It ...is." Micaiah said weakly.

Sothe ground his teeth in base frustration. "Just don't ..."

"Sothe."

"What?"

"I'm going to have to do it again, and again, and again until we've won. I'm sorry."

"...that's the way of it, then."

"That's the way of it."

"...the Greil Mercenaries are back, you know."

"They're -!" Micaiah sat up quickly and made to stand. As if sensing her patient's disobedience, Laura bustled into the room and pushed Micaiah back down gently. "Uh-uh." she said. "You're staying right here!"

"...fine. What are we going to do, Sothe?"

"Well, I guess-"

"I!"

A figure entered the room swiftly. All heads turned towards him in unison.

"I shall vanquish Commander Ike." General Tauroneo said.

"...Tauroneo?" Sothe asked.

"Mmm, I. He defeated me, once, in the Mad King's War. I joined him afterwards. This time, however, things will be different."

"You ...can do this?"

"Hmph. The maiden could readily vanquish him, and I her, therefore I would say so."

"...thank you, Tauroneo."

"Hm!"

So it was that General Tauroneo steppe down as adviser, and took up his shield for a final battle.

--

"Commander Ike!"

"...Tauroneo?"

"Yes, 'tis I. Come! We duel."

"Eh?"

"Trial by champion! I win, your hordes retreat. You win, I will honorably surrender the Dawn Brigade and our king to you."

"I see. As a favor to you, Tauroneo, I accept."

"Excellent. Have at you!"

Tauroneo rushed Ike so suddenly, and with such frightening speed, that the younger man was caught off-guard and was seriously injured. Sensing a swift and nearly bloodless victory, Tauroneo pressed the advantage and took another solid swing with his axe, connecting with Ragnell and sending it sprawling. A swift backhanded swing of his shield sent the sword's master in the opposite direction, and Tauroneo thumped his shield into the ground.

"You are beaten."

Ike groaned and rose halfway. "I am beaten."

"Act honorably, sir Ike."

"So I promised, so I shall." Ike finished the Daein ritual with a measure of distaste. "Ranulf! Order everybody back. Well done, Tauroneo."

"Thank you."

FINAL CHAPTER: FROM PAIN, AWAKENING

"This is it, Ike. We've got them."

"Hm."

"What?" Tibarn grinned. "Don't think I can perform?"

"Heh. No, I'm nothing if not confident in you."

"What is it, then?"

"Nothing, nothing. Just a bit of melancholy."

"Oh?"

"Fighting old friends, you know."

"Eh." Tibarn shrugged. "I only wish Naesala were fighting over there."

"Heh."

"Buck up, little guy. Everything'll turn out fine. I got it, after all!"

"I know."

So it was that the Dawn Brigade stared down the combined forces of three nations.

--

"Micaiah! We've got casualties straight down the line!"

"How's everybody holding?"

"Not good. The flank is collapsing, and the front is just about to do the same."

"Nng. Why can't I go out there, Sothe?"

"Because you're pushing yourself too hard."

Micaiah sighed. "Damn it all, Sothe! Is this it? Are we just going to have to parlay and hope they accept our surrender?"

"It's looking that way..."

The two shared a long look.

--

"You're a strange one."

Nailah looked up. "Ah, a beorc horseman."

"That I am."

"You wish to challenge me?"

"If you stand in my way."

"I suppose I do, at that. Come then, little beorc."

"A moment, please." Titania held her hands up in a pacifying gesture. "Where are you from?"

"Hatari. I am a wolf."

"A wolf? I've never heard of your kind."

"Mmm. We take care to be secretive."

"I see. I'll stall no longer. We fight."

--

"Micaiah! Shit, Micaiah!"

Micaiah opened her eyes. Someday, she thought, she would stop hurting all over. "Sothe?"

"We've got big problems. Nailah just got reported as down."

"NAILAH?!"

"Yeah, Nailah."

"Oh no, no..."

Jill flew up next to the pair. "Sothe!"

"Jill?"

"They just ...Rolf just shot Kurthnaga down."

"Fucking KURTHNAGA?!" Micaiah interjected.

Jill shot her a look. "Kurthnaga."

Micaiah slumped over and cradled her head in her hands. "We're done, Sothe. I'm calling it."

Sothe nodded somberly. "Jill, make it so."

"R-right..."

--

"Commander Ike!"

"Oh, Jill, hullo."

"I'm here from the Dawn Brigade. We're surrendering."

"Hm. I see. Unconditionally?

"Yes. Unconditionally."

"Understood, I'll call the laguz off."

"Thank you, Commander."

"Hm."

[spoiler=ASDF]PART THE FOURTH: AGAINST THE HEAVENS

In the aftermath of the surrender of the Dawn Brigade, a very peculiar something happened. Everywhere across Tellius, the air became stiller than it had ever been, and silence reigned over the statues who had once been all variety of creatures. Ashera's will walked among them, selecting the most pious and reviving them in an altered state, bound to serve her. These men, dead already, moved with perfect rhythm and acted as a unit, feeling neither fear nor hesitation. A bare fewer still Ashera awoke and breathed the light of freedom back into, to act as her eyes and to direct her forces.

She acted to counter her sister, Yune. Yune had already gathered her champions to her and saved them from the light of judgment, to fight for her of their own accord and to vanquish Ashera again. After so many long centuries, the goddesses were at each others' throats and corralling the race of man into their war-pens to fight a bitter fight.

Would that either could have foreseen that those same men would show more initiative than any before...

PROLOGUE: FORCES OF CHANGE

"Micaiah! Up and about!"

"Hnng?"

Micaiah rose from a deep and happy sleep to the unpleasant sounds of Sothe shouting a lot. She needed to forbid him from doing that while she slept, she reflected in her daze. On the other hand, he probably had a reason. Didn't he?

"C'mon, Mic. Gotta get."

"Gewha?"

Sothe sighed impatiently. "Moving. Skrimir saw the enemy."

"Uh."

"What is it, Skrimir?"

"Ha! You're awake."

"Mhm."

Skrimir pointed out from their makeshift camp. "Them."

Micaiah looked along his outstretched arm to the small host of horsemen standing perfectly still in the dawnlight. "Mmm. The Dawn Brigade will handle this one."

"Aha! I see, and I will charge ahead and search for more."

"Quite so, quite so."

"Excellent!"

So it was that Micaiah rid herself of an overenthusiastic burden and proceeded to her work.

--

Sothe was positively aglow. "The pegasus knights can actually keep up with you, Micaiah! You'll have support for a change!"

Micaiah sighed and shook her head. "No, Sothe. They'll be supporting you."

Sothe blinked once, then twice, and deflated. "Of ...of course, Micaiah. Of course they will."

"Right, Sothe! You know what to do! Keep up!"

"I ...really wish you wouldn't ..."

--

"Marcia!"

"Ah! Commander Sigrun!"

"How's the arm?"

"...not so good, ma'am."

"Mm. Pity. What do the healers say?"

Marcia winced. "They say it's not so great, ma'am. Rhys says I should retire after this."

"Hm." Sigrun giggled. "I suppose Rhys would say you should retire before this is over."

"Yeah..."

"Well, no matter. If you get better you get better and if you don't, well, I hear Elincia's pensions are simply extravagant."

"Heh. Do tell?"

"Plus, I can think of somebody who would be more than happy to have you domesticated..." Sigrun giggled again.

"Do what?!"

--

Skrimir returned to Micaiah, a little disappointed. "None ahead." he grumbled. "How was the fight?"

"It was fun, Skrimir. You missed all of it."

"GRAH!" Skrimir punched a nearby tree. "Of course you little beorc get all the fun."

"Mmm. And it was fun."

CHAPTER I: AROUND THE CAMPFIRE

"So what about this, huh Ike?"

Ike grunted. "Nothing like we've handled before."

"Yeah..." Mist stared into the fire. "We've got it though, yeah?"

"Mmhmm."

Titania rode over and dismounted slowly. "Ike."

"Huh?"

"I think that they're trying to be sneaky, but the enemy's all around."

"Hm."

"Plan?"

Ike laughed. "Plan? Light torches, Titania, we're going out to show them why you don't sneak up on me!"

So it was that Ike charged straight into a waiting trap, and absolutely nothing of consequence happened.

So it was that Pelleas plotted to throw himself into the fighting with Begnion.

"No time for questions, Queen Elincia! Tell me where to go!"

"I, um, you ...stay ...with me, Pelleas."

Pelleas nodded vigorously. "I'll do just that, ma'am!"

"Heya, Hawk King!"

"Hah! Rolf, was it?"

"Yeah! You remember me!"

"'course I do, kid. ...you're actually keeping up with me!"

"Trying my best, sir!"

Tibarn laughed heartily. "It's better than most other beorc I've met. Let's keep going!"

"Okay, sir!"

"What in the hell are you doing here?"

Pelleas saluted briskly. "Protecting Queen Elincia, sir!"

"Just to clear one thing up: I told you NOT to fight, right?"

"Yes you did."

"And yet here you are?"

"And yet here I am."

Tibarn sighed. "Did you at least do a good job?"

"Huh? I did."

"Alright then, welcome to the team."

"Eh?"

"You heard me, you're in it now. I hope you want to keep fighting, kid."

CHAPTER III: BREAKING THEIR LINES

"...is that every single soldier in Begnion?"

"Sure looks like it." Micaiah giggled. "Still isn't enough, though."

"Keep this up and you're going to run out of luck, you know."

"Sooooothe. Quit nagging."

"Dammit, Micaiah! I don't want you dying!"

"That's why I'm not going to! Look, Sothe, it's worked up until now. It'll keep working until we win."

Sothe sighed. "It's not like I can ever dissuade you, huh."

"Mhm."

Sigrun approached the pair. "Pegasi. We're all set."

"Excellent. Take Leanne to the west, we're going to sweep them out of this desert."

So it was that the remnants of the Dawn Brigade attacked the enemy at their strongest.

--

"They just don't let you quit, do they Leanne?"

"Is, no." Leanne chirped a few more times, for emphasis.

"I know, yeah. I'm kinda done with this whole thing but ...hey, I guess Commander Geoffrey is relying on us."

"Mhm."

"What're you going to do after all this? I mean, assuming everything goes back to normal."

"I ...go home."

"Heh. Sounds nice."

"Mmm! Is good. What ...tre you ...going to do?"

"I'm sorta figuring to settle down. Commander Sigrun, er," Marcia blushed, "...suggested some things I liked."

Leanne clapped her hands. "To go ..ahm, to wedding, yes!"

Marcia's blush darkened. "Y-yeah, something like that ...maybe..."

--

"Maiden! I ..."

The Black Knight turned slowly in place, trying to locate his charge in the sands. After a few rotations, he finally spotted her beyond the tattered remains of the Begnion line. No more than six soldiers still stood, and as the Black Knight watched Senator Lekain was run down by a pegasus and forced to retreat. The Black Knight carved two reckless soldiers up, then found himself lacking for targets. He decided to simply leave before anybody took note of him.

CHAPTER IV: KILLING THE DEAD

"Stupid fucking..."

"Hm?"

"Nothing, Muarim. I'm just starting to hear things."

"Mmm."

"Okay, that's it again. Something's in here. Let's go check it out."

"Hm."

--

"Holy ...Begnion soldiers? The hell?"

"We're in Begnion."

"Yeah but if you hadn't noticed half of everybody ever is dead."

"Mm."

"Something's up, Muarim, and I don't like it. Whatcha think we should do?"

"Hm."

"Ooh! I think they saw us. Looks like fun time, Muarim!"

So it was that Tormod had a bit of a scuffle to draw himself into this whole debacle.

--

"Tormod?!"

"IKE! What the hell are you doing here?"

"Hmph. Still crass as ever."

"Fuck you. Why'd you get so big?"

"Why didn't you?"

"Shut up. What's happening here?"

"No idea. You checked the throne room yet?"

"Nah. Want me to?"

"Go do that."

"Right, later."

"Bye."

--

"Tormod."

"Mist. What the fuck, you're huge."

"Taller than you, dwarf-boy."

"Both of you! Why?!"

Mist giggled. "You're the same as ever."

"'course I am. You figured out what's up here?"

"Nah. Off to some of the big rooms to check."

"Man, why do I have to go to the big-ass throne room?"

"Did Ike tell you to?"

"Yeah."

"Well that's why. Good luck!"

--

"Leave my manse this instant!"

"What the fuck."

Oliver squinted at the mage invading his privacy. "You're from the Mad King's War. I recognize you."

"You're dead."

"I eluded death! It could not claim something of my majesty."

"No. No, no, no, no, no. This is just wrong. You - I'm just gonna ...put you back where you should be."

"You cannot kill me!"

"I REALLY hope you're lying."

CHAPTER V: RETRIBUTION

"King Tibarn!"

"What ho! Haha, Bastian!"

"Quite so, 'tis I. I bring news!"

"Good news?"

"Perhaps to your ears."

"I like the sound of that."

"Do you recall the misdeeds of one Izuka, of the Mad King's War?"

Tibarn and Pelleas both started and shot Bastian twin sharp looks. "Yeah," Tibarn said, "I remember him."

"As I thought. It may ...please you to hear he is directly in your path."

"IS he? Oh, that's absolutely wonderful."

"I presume you seek to exact revenge?"

"Are you kidding? I'd go out of my way to kill that bastard."

"Me, too." Pelleas said. "I ...I don't hate many people, but Izuka ..."

Tibarn clapped his shoulder. "Don't worry, kid, he'll pay."

So it was that Tibarn and Pelleas bonded against old enemies.

--

"Get aboard. You know what to do when we get there?"

"Yeah." Rolf replied. "Watch for your opening and get in there and fuck Izuka up."

"Couldn't have said it better myself. You make it brutal, kid. I'm counting on you."

"If Shinon taught me anything, sir, it's how to kill."

"Excellent. That's what I want to hear."

--

"Here you are!" Tibarn roared. "Go gets, kid!"

"On it! Izuka, catch!"

Izuka never even got the chance to respond to the taunt.

FINALE: REUNION

"This is it, huh?"

"Yep."

Ike squinted up at the tower. "She's probably up top, huh."

"Probably."

"Hn. Let's be about it, then."

Micaiah nodded. "Onwards and upwards."

So it was that the Tower came within reach.

--

"Commander Geoffrey."

"Marcia! You're alright!"

"Yeah, er, mostly."

"Mostly?"

Marcia laughed nervously. "Y-yeah...mostly. Took a pretty nasty hit while you were gone. Rhys is bugging me to retire early."

"Wha? That's terrible!"

"Yeah, isn't it... um, I brought you your Brave Lance back."

"I-" Geoffrey blinked. "You still have it! ...keep it."

"Keep it?!"

"Commander Ike says you're going into the Tower. Maybe ...maybe it will keep you safe."

"I ...thanks, Geoffrey."

"...come back, Marcia."

"Sure thing, Commander."

--

"YOU!"

"Wha?"

Micaiah spun about at the familiar voice. "Tormod?!"

"Uh-huh! Heard you were around, had to come see how you were doing."

Micaiah clapped. "Oh, it's wonderful to see you! I'm doing fairly spectacularly, how're you?"

"I'm doing pretty amazing, if I had to say. Man, looks like we'll be working together again!"

"Yeah! I hope you're as good as I remember."

"I'm better than you remember. Trust me, you'll be impressed."

"Haha! I look forward to it!"

Tormod watched her go. "I'll have you," he mumbled. "I'll have you before you know it."

--

"So you're the king of Daein, huh?"

"I - who are - wha? Oh, my."

"Heh. I'm Mist."

"Pelleas. It's a pleasure."

"Isn't it, though?"

"So, um, you're going in with us?"

"You kidding? Ike's my brother. No way am I letting his ass get killed without me."

"Can, er, his ass get killed with you?"

Mist laughed. "No way! He'd be afraid to go and die with me watching."

Pelleas blinked. "Oh."

"Heh. You seem nervous about this whole bit."

"Yeah, um, a little. I only just started fighting alongside King Tibarn. Before that I was ...well, useless."

"Oh hush, you. No you weren't, you just weren't a fighter."

"Er, I suppose..."

"Anyway, don't worry about it." Mist thumped him on the back. "You're in good hands, Your Lordship."

"Please, just ...just Pelleas."

"Okay then, Pelleas. You're still in good hands."

"...thank you."

--

"My word ...is that ...Rolf?"

"Huh? Oh holy sh- hi, Commander Sigrun!"

"You've become quite the looker, I see. I daresay I'm entranced!"

Rolf blushed. "Aw, hey, thanks. That means a lot coming from you."

"Ah! You think so highly of me. Rolf, don't play with my heart like this."

"I, um, don't mean to. You're ...why are you so close ...help."

"Hm. Marcia tells me you always had quite a fancy for me..."

"...shouldn't have told her."

"Mm. Are you really going to complain?"

"...no."

Sigrun giggled. "Well, I'll leave you alone for now."

"You - what?!"

"You'll just have to make it through this adventure, I suppose, and then you can step up and be a man."

"I - you - this ..."

--

"BASTIAN!!"

"Moof!"

Bastian thumped backwards onto the ground as Lucia's embrace hit him with all its considerable force. "Good evening, Lucia."

"That's it? I've been worried sick, Bastian!"

"There really was no cause to worry, Lucia."

"The hell you say! What were you even doing?"

"Working."

Lucia huffed. "That's what you always say."

"It's always true."

"You ...fine! Don't think this is over, Bastian."

Bastian chortled. "I won't. I promise."

Lucia stormed off.

--

"All good, Commander?"

"Hm? C'mon, Titania, sit down."

"Eh? ...alright." Titania sat down next to Ike. "What's on your mind?"

"Lots of things. Trying to figure out what all this means, I guess."

"Heh. I say don't bother."

"You know how good I am at staying ignorant."

"Isn't that true."

"...you know, I've known you a long time."

"That you have, Commander."

"It's ...good that you're alive, Titania."

"Same to you. Why so sentimental?"

"Dunno." Ike poked at the ground. "Just ...in a mood, I guess, and want to keep you around a while. You ...mind?"

"Nah. I'll sit as long as you like."

"...thanks, Titania."

"Anytime."

--

The next morning, a group of seventeen set out to breach the Tower in high spirits.

----------

FINALE: FIRST BLOOD

"Begnion troops?" Ike blinked in astonishment. "What're they doing here?"

"Think about it, man. We've been fighting them all the way here." Rolf said.

"Hm. Suppose you're right, at that."

"No biggie, anyway. How many've you guys killed? Probably only half what me and Tibarn have, and even that's probably four times this many."

Ike snorted. "When did you get all this confidence?"

"Tibarn taught me to be like him."

"Good. Show me what you learned, then."

"Roger that, Commander!"

So it was that the Dawn Brigade entered the Tower.

--

"Lekain."

"Ah, dear puppet Pelleas. How do you do."

"I'm quite well, thank you."

"Splendid. What brings you here?"

"I'm going to kill you."

"Ha! You're a funny one."

"Go ahead and laugh. It's still true."

"Hm. Alright then, child-prince. Kill me if you're able."

--

"Oh, I remember you. You're the weak one."

"S-stay away, Hawk King! You'll not win today!"

"You're wrong there, little man. I'm going to flay you alive just for being here."

"I-I think not! The Goddess protects!"

"Y'see, that's the funny thing about goddesses. I have one too, you know?"

"You- you ...what? What?!"

"Heh. I wish you could see your own face before you die."

--

"See, Commander? It's pretty much routine for me."

"Hm. I'm impressed, Rolf."

Rolf grinned. "Thanks, man. That means a lot to me."

"What do you suppose is upstairs from here?"

"Hell if I know. All I'm told is to follow the chick."

FINALE: REMATCH

"...I did NOT expect that."

"Hello, Ike." said the Black Knight.

"Hello. Why are you in here?"

"It's my duty to keep you out, of course."

"Of course it is. I suppose that means I'll have to cleave through you again."

"Hm. But first, I have something to -"

"I know. You're Zelgius."

"What?"

"Ranulf told me."

"That ...hmph. Of course he stole my thunder." Zelgius pulled his helmet off. "Now then, we duel again."

So it was that Ike ran into an old foe for, what, the eighth time or so.

--

"You! Levail!"

"General Micaiah?! What are- how are- how did you get here?!"

"I had to carve my way through every soulless soldier ever to do it, but it doesn't matter. Zelgius has yielded. You're free to leave."

"General Zelgius is alive?"

"He is. Commander Ike bested him in an honorable duel."

Levail nodded. "Then I'll not stand in your way. Godspeed, Maiden."

"And you, Levail."

FINALE: GOLDOA MOVES

"Alright, guys." Micaiah came to a halt. "Yune says we're going to need extra help past here. She says she has enough power to bless one weapon for each of us. Discuss what you'll be bringing - and make it good, we've dragons ahead. I'll be bringing Lekain's beloved Rexaura."

"What else?" Ike snorted. "Ragnell. Speaking of, Lucia?"

"Huh?"

"Zelgius gave me this. Have it."

"It's - ALONDITE?!"

"Yep. It's yours."

"I - what? Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you! I'll have it blessed, Miss Micaiah!"

"Levail gave me his spear." Sigrun chimed in. "I'll have that, please."

Mist brandished her blade. "Mist Sword! Your name will live forever!"

"...Mist Sword?" Micaiah couldn't help herself and a giggle escaped. "Mist Sword?"

"Mist Sword! Bitch got a problem with it?"

"No ...no problem." The giggles were getting harder to stifle. "It's ...an excellent blade."

"Of course it is! I helped forge it."

"Rexflame!" "Rexcalibur!" Tormod and Bastian called out in unison. "Kings of the magics!"

Titania stared fondly down at her axe. "Urvan." was all she said.

"Double Bow!" Rolf yelled enthusiastically. "Let's do this!"

"Balberinth." said Pelleas. "I've finally mastered it, Micaiah."

Micaiah beamed. "I'm proud of you, Pelleas. You've come a long way."

"That I have. All I need is a queen now!"

"Ha! Have anyone in mind?"

"Mhm!"

"Oh, my! Pelleas!"

"The hell more do I need than my own hands?"

"I can, er, bless those too, Hawk King." said Micaiah.

"Can you? That'd be awesome."

"Dragons, you say? I'll bless somebody a Wyrmslayer."

"Marcia?!"

Marcia chuckled. "Sorry, handsome. I dunno how much good I'm going to be at fighting up there."

"Huh?"

"I'm ...I'm going to try to cut back. That last fight ...it just sorta exacerbated everything."

"I see. Don't get yourself killed trying."

Marcia smiled wanly. "That's sorta the point handsome. The Wyrmslayer'll be yours. Use her well."

"Of course."

So it was that, blessed weapons in hand, the Dawn Brigade moved to shatter the reign of dragons.

----------

"Dragon King."

"Commander Ike."

"I suppose I can't convince you to leave?"

"No."

Ike sighed. "Alright then, let's get this over with."

"Hm. You think two beorc and a heron can vanquish me, oldest of dragons?"

"One of the beorc is Mist, motherfucker!" the second one yelled.

Dheginsea sighed.

--

Moments later, Ike and Dheginsea parted. Both bled heavily, neither was quite willing to give. As the two prepared to strike back at each other, a shout rang out from behind Ike. "Enjoy oblivion, Dragon King!" Dark energy roiled over Ike's head and engulfed Dheginsea. When the air cleared, the Dragon King was dead. Ike turned about in shock.

"I... I arrived in time. I'm, um, here to help, Mist!"

"You ...hi, Pelleas."

"Hello! I, um, I did good, right?"

"You just killed the Dragon King."

"I meant to do that, yes!"

"You ...wow, Pelleas. How...?"

"He was, uh," Pelleas blushed. "You looked like ...you were in trouble. I didn't ...like that."

FINALE: TREACHERY

The party crested yet another Godforsaken flight of stairs to be greeted with the oddest sight yet.

"We're fighting ...light?"

Tormod blinked. "The fuck?"

"Light." Ike said again. "It - ow!"

"Heh. Angry light."

Ike glared at him. "If you were light..."

"Hey, hey."

So it was that the Dawn Brigade engaged, um, light.

--

"You. I remember you."

"Ah, Ike."

"I broke you out of ...that prison ...that one time."

"You still have a gift with words."

"Huh. Wait, you're behind all this?"

"Mmm. Congratulations."

"What the hell, man?"

Sephiran shrugged. "The world needs to be cleansed. Please try to understand."

"I - uh-uh! Hell no! This is my damn world, and you aren't going to cleanse it unless I let you!"

"So stop me, Ike."

"Gonna, thanks!"

--

"You didn't have to go so hard on him, Mic."

"Oh shush, Tormod. He pissed me off."

"Hah! You're actually using foul language for you! It must've been bad."

Micaiah scowled. "It's my world too, and I vote we don't kill it."

"Yeah, with you there. Still, you practically turned him into gravy."

"Hmph. Serves him right."

FINALE: GODSLAYERS

"That's her, isn't it?"

"Mhm."

"Alright then, what's the plan?"

"See the shield? We have to smash the shield. Then you have to kill her."

"Right. Shouldn't be too hard."

Micaiah snorted. "You're talking about Ashera, Ike."

"I know."

So it was that the Dawn Brigade realized its potential to change the world.

--

"Barriers down! Pile in!"

"Moving, Commander!"

"Getting there!"

"Hit her! HIT HER!!"

"She can't take much more! Ike, in!"

"Ha!"

COMMANDER IKE - 92 KILLS, 4TH MVP

DEPUTY COMMANDER TITANIA - 117 KILLS, 2ND MVP

After the campaign, Ike and Titania sat down and had a long talk about a lot of things. Several problems arose from this, and many things were said that may have been regrettable if said to the wrong person, and things got very out of hand. Titania found out a few weeks later that she was pregnant, and Ike handed the reins of the Greil Mercenaries to Gatrie, saying that he wanted to go sit down and forget about standing up ever again. Titania, naturally, followed him.

HOLY KNIGHT SIGRUN - 46 KILLS

ROLF THE MERCENARY - 88 KILLS, 5TH MVP

Rolf claimed his just reward from Sigrun after the events at the Tower. Shortly afterwards, a starstruck Rolf left the Mercenaries to join the Begnion Holy Guard. The pegasi didn't much like him riding them, so he got a wyvern. A personal blessing by Empress Sanaki allowed him to keep a post with the Pegasus Corps despite these shortcomings, and he spent many days with his new beloved.

KING PELLEAS - 14 KILLS

QUEEN MIST - 93 KILLS, 3RD MVP

Mist tried to return to life as a mercenary. She really did. Pelleas, however, had other ideas - he'd send her well-wishes, visit her on her birthday, invite her to Nevassa for the holidays, and such. Eventually, Mist gave up and confronted him about his feelings, and he broke down and asked her to be his queen. Mist graciously accepted the offer, and the two reigned happily.

GEOFFREY, WORKING ON - 17 KILLS

MARCIA, RETIRED - 55 KILLS

Having an injury force her into an early retirement wasn't necessarily all bad. After Marcia finally passed her own threshold in the Tower (healers' warnings be damned), she returned to Geoffrey. Geoffrey nearly broke down when he saw the state she was in, and Marcia found it very difficult to reassure him she was okay. The two were married almost before they returned to Melior - with the Queen's blessings - and Marcia resigned her post to keep a warm home ready for any comers. Shortly after their second child was born, Marcia's brother Makalov moved in and turned out to be an excellent uncle to Marcia's children.

LUCIA THE TIRELESS - 33 KILLS

BASTIAN THE ENIGMATIC - 8 KILLS

Rumors continued to blossom in the Crimean court about the two having a romance, and in the tail end of the war Bastian and Lucia decided to make the rumors a reality. Everything went perfect and secretive until Geoffrey found out about it one day a few months later, and he strongarmed Bastian into marrying Lucia. Bastian doesn't regret his choice to this day.

HER COMPANION, SOTHE - 78 KILLS

When everything was done, Sothe found himself quite without direction. In a daze, he managed to find his way back to Melior - and back to the arms of an old friend.

HAWK KING TIBARN - 42 KILLS

Tibarn nearly cried at Rolf's wedding. It was the closest he had come in several hundred years, and it was all over a beorc. Between managing his own kingdom and the newly-annexed Kilvas, Tibarn returned often to Sienne to see how his protege was doing.

MICAIAH, MAIDEN OF DAWN - 190 KILLS, 1ST MVP

TORMOD THE PERSISTENT - 51 KILLS

By God, Tormod swore he would sway General Micaiah. He pursued her relentlessly after the war, and Micaiah found herself quite unaware of how to take his affection. She sought help from close friends and old comrades, and finally managed to work through her own feelings for the man. Tormod, on the other hand, almost didn't know what to do once he finally had his prize.

Almost.

Almost.

Sorry for not updating.

Its midnight here, and I'm tired.

(You were the one to point out the mistakes in the OP, and the first one to finish!!)

I'm making progress in all of my Tellius drafts, but fe10, unlike fe8 isn't "Just early promote Franz to Pally or Seth solo, or Early promo Vanessa and completly rape everythong before Seth can go their"

Yeah, I'm up to p3 now, and Meg sucks ass.

Even with early strength blessage she Failed-really hard.

Jill soloed her parts, and Boyd is currently a 1 man wrecking ball with 9 move, celerity, speedwings, and Ike support.

Calill just soloed 2e with Meteor+Elfire and several mag procs.

Mist actually killed a general-

Brave sword, adept, criting for 8 blows, and the gen was at half hp.

(And several str procs.)

Heathers owning,Boyd is Haar on land-Ike is Ike, and every units living up to their expectations-exept Meg.

(Barely doing anything useful)

She can't get anywhere, and can't orko unless overlevelled and with a Silver Sword/Lance or forge/crit and adept.

Astrid just managed to kill 20% of 2-3.

@ Integ., don't be sad, I'm almost finishing PKL's awesome draft and EM comes asap. Lol I can't imagine the insane number of Event EXP in EM 3-9, 3-10 and 3-11.

2-3, without kill any enemy except the boss, and maybe the mook with the sppeedwing
