She has decent support options but they are all bad classes for her to support. Her Speed is going nowhere, but at least she'll hit hard. Assuming I can be arsed to promote her means that she's not gonna go on the front lines. Ever. Defense growth of 5? Meh movement. Pretty bland overall. Srsly, shes kinda dumpy even by early healer standards. (SRSLY! What is up with the bad units in this game!) She has 0 base defense. 0. Plus she has a defense growth of 5! wtf is going on here? Shes never gonna be even slightly able to handle getting hit. Ever. Plus shes probably gonna get benched once the better healers show up. That Saul dude has better bases, Clarine has a horsie to keep up and better base magic. Ellen does have some epic luck but since her stats are meh everywhere else, it doesnt help her case too much. Isn't it funny how the first chapter you can kick units off, you get Saul, a unit that is virtually the same, class-wise, but with better stats? I don't think Ellen's couple chapters of utility can net her a higher score than that. Even in FE6, 3 healers are not necessary, and you get 2 better ones by Chapter 6.
