"No, please, I'll be fine," he breathed wearily, his boyish face clouding into a grimace of worry and shame. Nightmare, easily supporting the diminutive Soul's weight with his bulky frame, brushed aside his silk-like hair with a strong, callused hand, and with a grace that belied his seemingly vicious appearance gently laid his palm against Soul's trembling forehead. "No you won't, you're burning up!" he said in an angry tone. In that moment, their eyes met, and Soul became at once aware of how close he and Nightmare were. Some part of him wanted to run away in embarrassment, even despite his weakened state, but Nightmare's strong embrace and comforting warmth kept him rooted in place. Instead of pushing away, he fell forward into Nightmare's grip and held tightly. "Nightmare, I..." he murmured weakly, but was silenced as Nightmare lifted him into his powerful arms and began carrying him.
