I dunno, Waldo is a more unique name, so it's a bit more iconic from a marketing stand-point. I've known quite a few Wallys, but I can't think of any Waldos. Saying "Where's Wally?" is sort of mundane, like "Hey, Rachel, where's Bob?" whereas "Where's Waldo?" gives Waldo the uniqueness he deserves to stand out in a crowd.
