But yeah, I agree with you that originality isn't necessarily a good thing in and of itself. I mean, I like Mega Man, so that shows how I feel already heh. Improving on a foundation can be just as impressive as being original, because it's really hard to do that sometimes! Although now I'm just thinking about video games and kinda veering off the original subject matter whoops. Yeah, both that my definition is kinda strict and why I said "kind of impossible", haha. I guess the actual bad thing is being derivative in bad and artless ways, like a certain terrible video game that was released as part of an established and esteemed franchise. TBH I've been thinking about video games all this time too (like above, haha), so that's okay too! It makes sense because it's the primary medium of entertainment we consume, I think.
