Kinumi Posted November 11, 2017 Share Posted November 11, 2017 the date army is pretty strong at this point esp because masamune is super respected now and they do several very helpful things for ieyasu (masamune married a son to one of ieyasus daughters, fought some battles that would help ieyasu advance with more ease, etc). after winning the battle of sekigahara in 1600 (wat a nice, even, memorable number) masamune is given a heckton of land and he builds and moves to a castle town in sendai (still an important city today!!) Kinumi Posted November 11, 2017 Share Posted November 11, 2017 some other things - he worked rly hard to help sendai flourish and encouraged lots of foreigners to come (including the pope in rome, with whom he was actually on fairly good terms) - masamune was presumably christian but had to obey his lord when ieyasu outlawed christianity and persecuted christians in sendai - he funded and encouraged the first japanese voyage to sail around the world - masamunes wife was his second cousin, he also ordered the execution of her wet nurse and several of her handmaidens bc he suspected they were involved in treason - his army was easily recognized by its black and gold armor and he himself by a helmet bearing a large crescent moon Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
