Seems like Maja wants a lecture, with how she keeps running out. I guess she'll get just what she wants. Makin grumbled internally, before rushing forward and giving the last Spyeder on their side a hard hit. She finally noticed their new friend, trying to judge how to strike.

Lanos grit his teeth as he stared down the thing before him. It didn't seem as durable as the other creations so he replaced the Red Rust Sword with the Slayer, hoping that it'd be able to do more damage. He charged the beast and swung, not even looking to see if it connected before darting into the nearby tress, hoping it'd make enough of a difference.

Lanos to 1,8, stay on map and attack the boss with Slayer.

One last thing between us and freedom. Here goes!

Meredith moves to 1,5 and snipes the boss with a Javelin and a prayer. She will remain on the map, assuming she survives this.

Valha glanced back nervously as Leiha continued on undaunted towards them, her breath catching in her throat as she saw that her wings looked fully healed. She looked back ahead and saw several people fighting what seemed to be the most powerful monster yet, and rushed towards it in desperation. "Rr, die already, all of you!" she hollered, going for a diving stab.

Valha moves to (2, 7) and attacks the Corpsefire with the Brilliant Estoc

...

Here we go. Leiha headed forward, scrambling up the cliff with relative ease making slight use of her wings- but mostly her claws. Isn't that the dragon rider Ertel wanted to intimidate before? Idiot... he should've killed him while the chance was there, like I said...

Kadin, had finally caught up with Maja, had finally remembered the burden of physical fatigue. "Ah... they are not following us anymore." He turned back, there seemed to be more disruption further back. Somebody else? Who could even be so foolish...

"Maja, please stay by my side, or at least by Makin's. We have tried to catch up with you." Kadin sighed, eyeing the peculiar enemy that stood in their way. This one seemed more... sentient than the others. "It's dangerous, let the others handle it, please."

"Ah, uh..." Maja just felt like she was following their mission all this time. Did I really lose sight of them that bad? I thought they were around me... Eyeing how badly this person's magic seemed to hurt them, she decided to continue healing duty.

Kadin to (3,8).

Maja holds, helps Lanos.

And that was that. Though battered and bruised, the mercenaries had managed to overcome this foe, and make it across the bridge... What awaited them, was a sprawling tundra, covered in snow, hills, and more snow, as far as any of them could see. The remaining creatures on the bridge continued to fight over the new foe that had arrived, paying little to no attention to the mercenaries. The Spyeders retreated into their caves, and the creations continued to become a meat wall for Ertel.

Makin skated along the ice and snow, getting herself firmly off of the bridge, and finally smiling. "We... We did it! We made it! W-We can make a c-camp, and f-fuck it, I'll get a fire going somehow, a-and we can eat and relax and... A-And we did it!" She could imagine the fire right now. All curled up around it... She had enough of a tail, that she could curl herself around her own little fire... Oh, but... I'd much rather be coiled up with Raith there. But would he be warmer than a fire? A full circle of fire... Oh, I dunno... But it'd feel better. Hmm... She was so overjoyed at the situation, that she didn't realize something. Something that Ingverd did.

"Lanos, watch out!" The creature they had just killed was slowly getting back up, and was charging a spell right at the bird. It was probably aiming for someone closest to it, and it seemed to be putting way more into this spell. How are these things still alive!? What does it take to put them down!? "Shit, hold on--" Ingverd had been about to charge the beast and stick it again, but a loud thwack stopped him. Vriska!? What are you doing!? He wanted to shout, but the shock had stopped him in his tracks!

Vriska had already taken the initiative, and bashed the monster right across its grotesque head with her tome, knocking it back into the snow. His spell shot off into the sky, and it started to shrivel into nothing, having wasted all of its energy, right then and there. She stood there, panting, slowly putting her tome back into her robe. "Y-You people... Always thinking before you act. Sometime you just have to do it, y'know?" She smiled a half smile, turning to Lanos and turning that half smile into a triumphant smirk.

Crash. The sound of breaking ice. A giant green flash. And in an instant, the bridge began to collapse, Vriska disappearing from sight.

The serpent from before had emerged from the water, and in an instant, came down on the spot she'd just been standing on, taking her and a large section of the ice with it.

Ingverd continued to stare, in shock. She... Huh? She's gone... Wh... What?

And Makin could only think of one thing to say. "RUN! Everyone, just, j-just run!" She shrieked it at the top of her lungs, and stutter or not, they all had to leave, lest they be dragged down into the freezing waters below.

As Lanos felt his wounds close he readied himself for another go at the beast but quickly let his guard down when it slumped to the ground. By the time he'd looked back at it all he had time to do was hold up his arms in front of himself, not like that would've done much for him. As he braced himself for a repeat of moments ago with the odd sound of Vriska's tome hitting the monster he opened his eyes to see Vriska smirking at him. "Well, looks like you-"

And then suddenly she was gone. Part of Lanos refused to believe it, he was dreaming right? He'd simply been knocked out from before and the healing he felt was just him not feeling anything in the dream. But the other part, the one that had become more than a scared harpy hiding in Valha's shadow, knew that wasn't the case. Vriska was dead, and after he'd said he'd keep her safe too. Rather than run, or do anything, he simply stood there, eyes wide open and mouth agape.

"Grr..." Valha lowered her sword after the creature appeared to be felled, but apparently it had one last spell left when she let her guard down. "Lanos? Are you--"

"Sister!" Leiha shouted, making it to the top of the cliffside. "Not yet, Valha! It's not over yet!" She bared her talons and prepared to leap forward, but the sudden appearance of a beast much larger than her halted her progress.

Valha only looked on in terror at first Leiha, then the serpent. "VRISKA!" she screeched, clawing at the air, but it was too late to act. "N-no..." But she knew there was no time to hesitate, locking eyes with Leiha immediately. The bigger harpy scanned the area rapidly, not having anticipated the serpent and clearly unprepared as well. She slowly backed off for a moment.

"We're not finished here..." And she ducked back towards the cliffs. Ertel may not be very smart, but I can't do this on my own... I'll drag him towards them myself if I must.

Vesta turned around the moment she heard a crash...

OH DAMN THAT SKINNY LITTLE GIRL JUST GOT ATE. Vesta's mind went utterly blank. This whole operation was a total mistake. She knew this sort of thing was going to happen and she stupidly agreed to go anyway. MOVE.

She bolted as fast as she could in the opposite direction from the bloody great sea serpent thing. She was not going to be a fucking second course, no way, no how. She felt a fleeting pang of regret that a wee child had been obliterated, but that was quickly replaced by that famous bandit brand self-preservation fueled cowardice.

"UH GUYS, WE SHOULD REALLY BOOK IT." She yelled, stating the obvious "LAST ONE OFF THE BRIDGE IS A ROTTEN EGG. QUICKLY, QUICKLY."

She sincerely hoped no one else would get chomped by mr.deathsnake.

Kendeall was still grumpy as shit about the cold and everything about the day in general. It sucked, and that fight sucked, and dealing with the stupid nerd and her stupid teenage mood swings sucked, and wait, what the fuck was that green that he just- Oh. Oh holy shit.

As the sea snake seemed to outright devour Vriska whole, Kendeall felt a number of conflicting emotions. Some normal for the situation - like abject horror that a giant fucking snake was trying to eat them all - and some not, namely the complete lack of a single fuck that he gave that Vriska was just... gone. Was he an asshole for it? Maybe.

But she started it. And he saw it through to the end, even if it was a bit... sudden.

The tension hadn't settled yet, Maja had moved closer once the stronger creature fell once, flinched when it struggled to life again, then sighed again as Vriska knocked the thing out.

Then froze solid when the great serpent broke the ground and... yeah.

"V... Vriska!?" Maja lost sense of what was going on. Her eyes widened, her facial espression neutral if anything. She even started walking toward the great serpent, as if mesmerized. The only thing Maja processed was that her friend was standing there just a moment ago. "No... no way." She reached out her hand...

And was swept off the ground, shifted and carried on Kadin's shoulder. "MAJA. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Kadin's face couldn't be seen through his helmet, but it must have been red, in anger, shock, fear. His voice was also boisterous, shaken, and loud, too loud. It echoed uncomfortably in Maja's ears, it did shook her off her trance, if not scare her more. "WE ARE LEAVING, THIS IS TOO DANGEROUS." Kadin made way out of the bridge as quick as his physical form allowed him to.

Meredith barely registered the mage girl being eaten by the snake. She saw Lanos, frozen in place, and a giant something-or-other FAR too close to him. "Oh for crying out loud. . ." she mumbled under her breath. "LANOS. WE ARE LEAVING. NOW!" she yelled, grabbing his arm and doing her best to drag him away from danger.

"It's over?" They had killed that evil zombie... thing and made it across the bridge. More than that, it looked like the abominations weren't chasing them anymore; something else seemed to have caught their attention.

The rest happened too fast. What just happened? Where the fuck did that snake come from? What... Sonia froze, trying to process what had just happened. No no NO we won! We were supposed to be safe! She was so young! Why now? Why her? Every instinct was telling her to run, but to where? The thing destroyed the bridge, and she couldn't take her eyes off the wreckage it left behind; water lapping against ice where one of their own once stood. That's it, then. We're next. We're not safe here. We're all going to die.

Ferdinand breathed a sigh of relief as the grotesque spellcaster plummeted to the ground. These creatures were harder than anything he had ever battled in his life! Where did these things come from?

And then all of a sudden, the spellcaster arose from the snow and began to aim a spell at Lanos. Ferdinand immediately made a short sprint, but it was all for naught, as the mage girl in their group ran behind the thing and slammed it with her book. And then, in an instant, the girl disappeared and the bridge began the collapse. Ferdinand, horrified, was snapped out of his shock by Makin screaming out an order for everyone to run.

He quickly checked around to see how his group was doing- Kadin was trying to snap Maja out of her trance and take her out of the mess, while Lanos stood like a statue, horrified at what just happened, and a desperate Meredith trying to drag him away from danger. Ferdinand quickly glanced at Sonia, who was terrified.

"Curses, this is never ending! Sonia, SNAP OUT OF IT! We aren't out of the woods yet! Come, quickly hop on to my back!" he shouted.

Despite Meredith yelling right at him, it barely earned her a response from the shaken harpy. A very subdued: "oh... yeah..." and a nod were all she got as he let her drag him away. But that didn't stop him from looking back at where Vriska had been. He didn't even have any thoughts on the matter, still too overcome with shock.

A horse? Why would there be... The more rational part of her mind suggested to think about it later and just run, damn you! and assumed control for just long enough to do as the voice said, gripping the (strangely humanoid) horse bit too tightly out of fear.

"You can hate me for this later," Meredith snapped, shoving Lanos in the general direction of safety. "Shock and mourning can wait until you're safe."
