Original Alear
federation force is the one that truly captures the essence of metroid. That's true. We just don't know it yet. There never was a real metroid game before Federation Force.

Fire Emblem Fan
I've heard of and seen footage of every single one of these series, but from those I haven't played, I'd like to play Advance Wars the most. It looks really good, I just haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Would anyone REALLY recommend it?
Zera
Thank goodness FE is the number one pick. If it weren't, it'd be rather shocking given what forum we're on... I'd like to play Advance Wars the most. It looks really good, I just haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Would anyone REALLY recommend it? I only played Advance Wars: Dual Strike so far but I really liked it - http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=51796 I haven't touched Custom Robo, but I know that the other bottom games - Sin and Punishment, Chibi-robo, and The Legendary Starfy - are all genuinely great. If you want to know why they're good and why they didn't sell, just ask me. Edited February 27, 2016 by Zera

solrocknroll
advance wars days of ruin is a legitimately great game, you should play it dual strike failed to grab my attention, but it's a pretty popular one so ymmv. days of ruin is a better starting point imo. days of ruin is definitely pretty great I felt that by Dual Strike, the cast was ridiculously bloated and the story stopped focusing on the cool characters like Sami or Eagle. I absolutely loved DoR's cast and felt that the size worked really well. The music was great, especially Will and Gage's themes, and the gameplay was pretty much the culmination of AW advancement. It's a better starting point, but it's not as easy to break. Depends on if one considers Advance Wars hard or not.
Zera
That reminds me, I wanted to get myself a copy of Days of Ruin. Is there room for more than 3 custom maps?
Integrity
It's a better starting point, but it's not as easy to break. tbh that's a lot of why i consider it a better starting point - the good and bad commanders feel a lot more balanced than the (hilariously varied) dual strike commanders, especially since you only pick one instead of two, so you're better able to use the ones you like i think getting into a series with a game that's easy to break is actually a huge negative Edited February 27, 2016 by Integrity
Tryhard
depends on the person, you know how many people loved awakening and got into fire emblem because of it Edited February 28, 2016 by Tryhard

Tryhard
fair tbh but imo awakening is easier to break than others with that pair up, reset level class changes and shit (and I guess like FE4 because it's just 'lol here's some holy weapons') and so it is a variance compared to the others since I don't think any fire emblem has any claim to balance probably unlike advance wars which I have not played surprisingly Edited February 28, 2016 by Tryhard
Integrity
no that's totally fair and i agree totally that awakening is comparatively easy to break. the difference i was trying to emphasize was that awakening is comparatively even easier to break in a series where every game is easy to break, whereas dual strike (/the unnamed other serieses) are easily breakable games in series that are traditionally not easy to break. alternately: i suck at advance wars. this is possible. Zera
I've organized the current results as of 30 voters (assuming the FE count is accurate). [spoiler=Poll Results] Population 30 Fire Emblem Popular 29 Mario 29 The Legend of Zelda 29 Kirby 29 Pokemon 29 Super Smash Bros. Well Known 24 Donkey Kong 21 Star Fox 20 Metroid 20 Kid Icarus Recognizable 16 F-Zero 15 Animal Crossing Niche 14 Pikmin 14 Mother / Earthbound 12 Nintendo Wars / Advance Wars 11 Golden Sun Obscure 6 Sin & Punishment 5 The Legendary Starfy Unknown 4 Chibi-Robo 4 Custom Robo The results are just about what I expected. The top games are obvious, but the bottom games are quite interesting. [spoiler=Would you buy a game with this box art?]
Integrity
30 voters (assuming the FE count is accurate). (31 member(s) have cast votes) it says right on the poll lol EDIT: the fire emblem count is accurate but you don't have to assume Edited February 28, 2016 by Integrity
Clarinets
I think the poll got another vote after his count.
Integrity
I think the poll got another vote after his count. EDIT: the fire emblem count is accurate but you don't have to assume what i mean is he doesn't need to use the fire emblem count, which is accurate but only by accident, because the poll tracks the number of responders
