OH SHIT!

Ash-Greninja can't breed!

It's not in any egg groups and it's locked to a neutral nature. It's going to be competitively garbage now, and definitely inferior to the base forme. Timid Battle Bond isn't possible.

Apparently the game actually may be optimized for the Nu3DS. You can't access miiverse or the web browser on an OG model, and people are already flipping out and saying hyperbolic crap about the framerate.

We have several new characters from a video played once you beat the demo; two new trial captains and a guy who looks like a Kahuna:

I don't think the Alolan formes are Gen 1 pandering. It's their 20th anniversary, so I think they're celebrating them.

It's kind of annoying they aren't covering all six gens, but if they had to focus on one gen, Gen 1 makes the most sense in this situation.

It's kind of annoying they aren't covering all six gens, but if they had to focus on one gen, Gen 1 makes the most sense in this situation.

We had Gen VI's blatant favoritism, giving you a Gen I starter before the second gym.

We had Mega Evolution favoritism, and a general screwing over of Gen V.

We had Go's favoritism.

And now we have Alolan forms.

Yes, it's the 20th anniversary, but we haven't had 20 years of purely generation one.

I don't think 8* forms that are only gen 1 and, mind you, are mostly of unpopular pokemon that needed something new.

EDIT: Ok, some are unpopular, some are popular, but they do all need something new.

I don't think it's pandering.

On it's own, it's fine. It's just with everything else that's happened, it feels like Gamefreak cares mostly about Gen I and especially seems to think nobody liked Gen V.

A dataminer clarified: it's two (now one) more lines.

And on second thought, maybe it's a good thing we don't have Alolan forms for 'mons outside of Gen 1...

This is like a revival of the 90s.

Also wtf is the form's lore going to be?

Dugtrio native to the Alolan region grew hair to protect their soft skin from the rays of the sun?

...as opposed to like, you know, digging underground?

Maybe make it more akin to the elegance that Dragonair originally has, that'd be cool.
