more the story/setting, maybe? 3H and CS premise is very similiar.

Also Trails has some tactical elementts that are completely non existant in CS

Oh... Well, to be honest, I'd say you're good to go after you're done with 5. 1, 2 and 3 are just outdated versions of 11, 12 and 16 at this point. Some people argue that 3 still holds up and is well worth a shot, so try it out if you wish, but... Well, in my opinion, it doesn't. The other two though, play them if you want a look at FE's early history and appreciate all the advancements that we now take for granted. That's about it.

Yeah, I played Gaiden before SoV and it's no question which is better.

MotEI is honestly a boring playthrough from my experience and I haven't gotten to finishing MotEII to make any declarations.

SDatBoL is a hard pass imo. Just, no.

Being the annoying Yakuza advert of the thread, may I recommend something from the Yakuza series next? I think you like ARPGs, (I think Yakuza is an ARPG, at least?) so it's possible that you'd like it! It's the best, because you can do this if you have a carrot in your inventory.

Alternatively, Like a Dragon is a JRPG, and it's really, really good. In my opinion, of course.

1 and 2 are definitely moreso games to play just to see what the originals were like more than anything else, I'll give you that. 3, yeah, the UI's kinda stinky, but I feel like book 2 specifically really does capture some of the unique ideas way better (Ch12 momento) and doesn't rely on stuff like ambush high speed wyvern nukes to make the game tough.
