I was bored, and the Future Connected battle theme got some creative juices flowing...

Spoiler

On a beach, twenty feet from the utmost limits of where the shore's high waves reach, in two adjacent lounge chairs, sit Shulk and Melia. As she basks in the sun, her skin gradually shifting from its white sand tone to one closer to the moist tidal landings, glasses worn to protect her eyes looking ahead, she asks if this is okay. He gently turns his head and responds “As the saying goes, “While the husband is away…”

“…the wife goes out to play.”" In a room from floor to ceiling the brightest red, Fiora is on a winning streak. She’ll own the casino before the night is over! But first, she has to win back everything she has lost so far. Reyn rushes back into the room, knocking Riki into a slot machine which just so happens to roll a jackpot as a result. Too caught in the thrall of the roulette to see what he has done, he tells Fiora he pawned a few things to get more money to turn the tides of their fortune, they were almost dried up. And by “a few things” he means Gadolt’s rifle, he’ll back it back with winnings to spare before Sharla notices, she checks on it only once every four months, unaware he is that the old lover’s birthday is three days away, a special occasion. They push and on and on; if only Shulk still had his visions.

Yes.” *Ahhhhh* *Clink*

They agree as their drinks move away. For her, a Monado Hurricane, for him a Blue Eryth. Both are served in opaque red glasses, clear and translucent geometric lines running along the sides let the colors of the concoctions be seen, Shulk got these after fixing a furnace for a friend. When the glasses are empty, Melia will let her waiters know. They’re fully clothed in summer attire: hats, sandals, shirts, and shorts; not swimwear, but it’d dry fast on this hot day if they wished to make a quick splash. They put their beverages down on tables by their distant sides, and concentrate their sights again on the latest attraction atop the row of planks prepared for their entertainment, a tentacular Mechon is juggling Nopon, each juggling objects ranging from balls to knives to lit torches and littlepons. This is the life. Is this an affair? Perhaps of the minds or souls, but not the bodies, they never touch. Is this intimacy? Maybe, maybe not, it rests on the horizon of the heartfelt world, beyond the sky of certainty.

-Don't ask for "Where are Dunban and Sharla!?!" I don't have enough imagination for that, and I wanted to focus in on Melly and Shulk anyhow. Adding one-arm & medic for the sake of having everyone would make this unnecessarily long and unfocused. Fiora and Reyn got added in b/c I didn't want to make her the victim not having fun while the husband does stuff here. Riki was a last-minute toss-in b/c Heropon = Debtpon and gambling = easy debt.

This rocks...

The sound... engine, tools? Whatever you call it, it is the same as Chrono Trigger, which is expectable given they were sibling games. At the same time, notes of Trials of Mana's Nuclear Fusion are instantly recognizable, but I can tell this isn't the same track in its original form. Intriguing hybridity between what was and what at the time wasn't but would be.

this does look like a brawl tbf

Looks like the game at its most titular with all this ganging up. You aren't fighting alone for sure.😄

Instant death bonus in Trails is mean.

Eh, doesn't sound like the worst thing in the world. Throw it at me. Take it a step further, make in partywide insta-death, or let any and all generic bats turn into a boss-tier enemy on the fly. Maybe you'd be able to stop me then.

ya know, i wouldn't mind if FE4 had a mechanic like this. Would make facing unit Blocks much more fun, for sure xD

But yeah i am enjoying the game more than i expected to.

Still crazy even by Kaga standards, but atleast it's kinda clear what stuff does haha

The way it works in Trails is that you see what Turn will get what Bonus before hand. So if a AoE attack is used at a Insta kill turn, that could mean a partywide insta death if you let the enemy have it.

But you have alot of turn manipulation options in Trails, so it isn't really a problem.

I found 0 CP turn bonus to be much worse, since if you get it's all your hard earned CP gone

It's certainly an interesting development story. Supposedly stuff that got scrapped from SoM was added to CT. It's a shame we might never know the full extent of what SoM was going to be.

Well, Nuclear Fusion was remixed from this. Meridian Dance was made first, after all. Hm? It's not? Thought this was the SNES original, if perhaps sounding different coming from computer speakers rather than a TV's.

The former... that got me good when I was unprepared. Also, I have poor luck when it comes to death blow screwing me at the worst times.

...hearing this theme kinda me makes me wish i got Rosary instead...

But Roswell was just so much harder to kill lol

Poison + Ankh was just pure evil

Not to mention Yggdra having advantage overe Golems made killing Rosary much easier, and there's the fact that Rosary was sorrounded by water which meant i could send Ms. Fish for that sweet 50% Terrain bonus

I'm not great at "reading" music by ear I shall say. Brief sections do sound identical to Nuclear Fusion, but outside of those moments, I can't hear enough similarity to same they're 100% the same composition in two different renditions. Maybe they are, but I can't tell.

I see. Sounds creative and fun!

I was just joking b/c Etrian Odyssey has done the two things I described, neither of which makes for an "easy" ride. In other words, difficult JRPGs are sometimes my jam.

Perhaps it'd be more accurate to say they took samples of Meridian Dance to make Nuclear Fusion, I suppose. Sampling happens all the time, so sampling from their own creations is par for the course.

I mean, is there even a link to when both tracks play to say they were trying to make a deliberate reference between the two games? Maybe? They're both used as battle themes, but context is definitely different.

Ah yeah, I never accidentally had retry offset on for an entire game... *grumble*

But I mean, I really didn’t lose that often at all so.

*Chuggaaconroy presents his interpretation of Xenoblade 2's ending as fact*

Okami fans:

That aside, I returned to my original Xenoblade 2 file (not my replay file) because there's still plenty of stuff I haven't done yet. Maybe one day I'll do absolutely everything the game has to offer. Though that would require making 100 of Vess's dumplings, so probably not anytime soon.

Hm?

As someone who did play Okami through to the end, what does the ending of XC2 and Okami have in common? -Or rather someone thinks they have in common? Elysium can't be the Celestial Plain.

I like how every time I've had to update Another Eden, the download bar goes beyond 100% downloaded, goes back to 0 at some point, then back to 100%. Someone coded that thing wrong for the PC port. lol

I've seen. Personally, I don't have a beef with supports, and that's that.

Anyway... lol, I remember this image:

Mood, although this even happens to me in one on one “debates”.

This is your fault for trying to engage in an argument with people who think that their word is God and everything that contradicts their view is wrong.
