Castti’s night action seems pretty useless outside of very specific circumstances, story or otherwise, which is a little underwhelming. It’s like they had to force in a second path action for her. But maybe it’ll be used well, we’ll see. There’ve been more cinematic shots so far than in the whole of the first game, so that’s cool. There's a lot of redundancies with the path actions. They are better for flavor than anything else, honestly. Visually it is very much an improvement, if a subtle one. I do miss the glitter of the snow, though. It sounds small but the cute snow made the Frostlands so fucking pretty, legit some of the most stunning winterlands I've seen in videogames. In this one the snow feels more... oppressive, bleaker somehow. Though maybe that's by design, seeing how the character that starts in the snowy area is Osvald, and Osvald's beginning is... Reduces enemy's Res by 20% and restores you half the HP you inflict as damage when using Tomes? Soren is basically an Anti-Mage, well, Mage. Even then, the Mystical bonus is just turning that 20% to 30%, so not that large of an amount unless the enemy had high-enough Res to begin with. So yeah, I might actually keep him with her. I gave her Celica's Tome Precision 5 to mitigate her low Dex. Her other skill is Bow Guard 5, but it might be replaced with Soren's own Magic Guard 5, since it seems to be superior for her. Spoiler I'm not used to enemies using Warp/Rescue staves, so I wasn't expecting Mauvier's tactic of warping enemies over to you. Him using Rescue on Marni and her minions so they could gang up on you when you're not expecting it was also clever. Mauvier is a member of the Veyle protection society, so he's a cool guy. Personally, I think the safest/most-neutral choice would be that it's given to Spoiler Veyle and the whole family bond is pushed instead. Still, I'd give them props if they were to actually pick. There was the whole FMV of Sumia rescuing Chrom which was even called "Lovebirds" in Japan and NA (Europe renamed it to be more neutral). Sumia is the one with the fastest support gain with Chrom. She's also the one with the highest priority in the case of ties. There's also the infamous scene at Chapter 8, which is also unique to her. Spoiler yes. or rather from chapter 20 onwards every chapter contains medium to large plot twist. they really crammed all the backstory, mystery unravelling, and lore dump in the back end of the game.
