The actual list and..... honestly, without actually being specific about it (vague general statement) Let's see Spoiler 25 minutes ago, Armagon said: People are making the mistake of treating Alain like Robin, Corrin, etc. Because the actual list of romancable options is small, so Alain is really more of a Seliph or Roy. Oh. Well -if this is true- I’m not angry, just disappointed. I'll admit that while I could tell it'd be but a tiny part of the game, I was curious who I'd be able to throw the Ring on. Speaking of a ring, by any chance do you know where Titrel is?😏 -I wrote the above before your update FYI. And, I just want to clarify about the 13 Sentinels bit I mentioned before, since I've never actually talked about it here. 13S SPOILERS of course.: Spoiler I liked Okino by himself, as a character in the greater story of 13 Sentinels. He was fairly good in that. And I think I even remember one moment where he seemed flustered by another guy's remarks towards him, in a good way. -What I didn't like was Okina with Hijiyama, at least not all the time. In particular the "I can see your brain activity!" scene was an invasion of Hijiyama's privacy, that crossed a line.😑 As for Hijiyama, they chose to place him in the prewar era.😐 The era where tolerance, acceptance, acknowledgement of the existence of queerness, would be at its lowest point. He gets shocked by the sight of schoolgirls in skirts. If he hadn't been thrown there, he could've been less tied down by an inability to acknowledge his inclinations. I do acknowledge that right at the end of Hijiyama's storyline, that he realized what Okino meant to him. -But then we get to the game's ending. What do we see there? Okino successfully teasing Hijiyama again, was there any progress in their "relationship"?🤨 If there was, I didn't see it, or at least remember it. I would've liked a less-teasing Okino, a more open Hijiyama. 16 minutes ago, Armagon said: @Saint Rubenio @Interdimensional Observer no wait, update to that romance leak. Although the crown prince of the friendly kingdom would be neat, a potential future union of two crowns via two kings would be one royal flush. As he's blonde, I'd name their son "Cornelius".👑 Edited March 4 by Interdimensional Observer

Existing versions will be easily available, not to mention it's open source so forks might be made. Also, another emulator Mikage is being made. Though it is not public yet, when it comes out it might just be better than Citra anyway because Citra is a pretty lackluster emulator, all things considered. As for Switch... Well, it sucks for people with lesser computers because Ryujinx is harder to run, but Ryujinx is the better emu anyway and its devs are far less awful. All in all, consequences aren't too bad. It's the precedent that worries some.

Saint Rubenio
lmao Just now, Armagon said: Thinking about how Citra didn't have a fast-forward option. It does, what it doesn't have is a fast forward button. But you can totally increase the speed of the game on the settings menu, or in increments with a bind. I know because I accidentally pressed the button at one point and spent an unknown amount of time playing the game at 105% speed until I realized the music sounded a bit weird. P5 is NaviGirl, Blonde Girl, Mature Girl, Other Girl, Royal Girl; Bro Guy, Other Guy, "Dating You Might Have... Challenges" Guy? How many viable NPC Confidants? I'd advise avatarsexuality here as a precaution. I missed this little section before, by the definitive version there is at minimum a Social Link/Confidant (this is including both NPC and party members, and they usually find ways to cheat in an extra 1-2 with alternate Aracana choices) for each of the Major Arcana for the tarot except the world (so starting at about 21), but usually two of those are story based group social links, they tend to not allow dating for people too young or too old (usually about 1-2 of each of these categories), and usually one that isn't human enough to be dateable, and having 1-2 not be datable for other reasons (like they are already married, secretly villainous, in a parental role to the player, etc.). If we ignore gendered restriction that usually put us at about 14 available being common, which sounds like a reasonable enough number to do something with. 11 hours ago, Armagon said: .....but there's no reason why Portable and Reload had to keep it, as well as 4 and 5. Will they just build underneath it, or they will move the ship when the time comes? I'd say move it, the amount of shade it casts would probably make people not so willing to live there otherwise. Looking at the map of the unfinished NLA, the unbuilt southwest quadrant would possible be assigned industrial or residential use, perhaps a mix of the two. As for where to move the Ma-non ship. Into Primordia would be possibility. Although that would likely require creating a big "landing pad" area outside the city walls for transference of people and supplied from the ship, and protecting the pad from Indigens. I was thinking that, while helicopters, flight Skells, and flying transports exist, that humanity could use a harbor though. Bust a hole through the southern city wall and attach some docks to NLA. Put the Ma-non ship there alongside the artificial port.

No, I don't think much of anyone has much sympathy for Yuzu specifically. Them being greedy assholes is old news, and Ryujinx was more and more often considered the better emulator, with Yuzu essentially being the hacky option for people with worse computers. Again, the worry is that Nintendo will use this as precedent to hop onto real "big corpo vs the little guy" cases. Let's not lose sight of that. It's not looking that likely, but who knows. Interdimensional Observer
Aeternus Nox Finis. Spoiler Turns out there's a second already-Rank-7 date option. Uses the same CG as the Rank 7 and other superfluous date, but damned if that isn't the most beautiful CG I've ever beheld.😂 I've smiled at it, laughed at it, quivered with awe at it. The dialogue for this alternative date was very good 😄, a little more characterization for Yohan too. After this, I still had some calendars days left. I didn't use it on the girls, b/c why?😛 Chani was already at his lower max rank, so... ...I did a lot of Yohan's Meditation training minigame. A tad RNG whether you can even get Perfect on it, but it's by far the easiest of the four. The girls have you doing voice practice, squats, and sorting cells, respectively. Contrary to this game's lowbrow humor, it makes no joke about "White Essence".😛 Monsters drop Black Essence, which is almost entirely used to strengthen/teach the MC's skills (Yohan wants an easily-accumulable amount too). Scavenging with the romance options at night yay I can't say "ladies"!, or doing one of the trainings with the same either time of day, gets you White Essence. Which is used for learning/strengthening all the skills everyone else has. Training with Yohan should give twice the White Essence. You can't possibly get enough WE to max all skills on a single playthrough, so choose wisely. I've called this Eternights an Action RPG before. Yet, since traditional EXP doesn't exist, and you only ever get to control one character, I'd actually be more inclined to call this pure Action + dating sim. After all this, I ventured into the last dungeon and cleared it out in one day. Nothing to post about from there. Normal Mode was suddenly quite easy with Yohan's skills almost entirely maxed out (one would forever elude me due to a White Essence shortage). Had a little more free time left after that. Hmm... I can pick whoever I maxed Confidant (yes, they used that Persona-word) Rank with, Chani too it seems if I preferred platonic astral object observation. -I don't.😉 Don't remind me of the transience of existence.🙁 I want to forget about that and live in an unending moment with you, Yohan.🙂 *Floors the shoulder button* 🤝🤩 ... 😍 --- What followed the next day was another battle area, where Yohan moves the train with the special cannon the heroes need to use into place. The MC plus the gals (Yohan and Chani don't actually fight, and all the girls do is give the MC two spells + one shield-breaking element each) destroy the zombies in the train's way. Then with, the cannon location set, things to night again. Hm?😐 A dream sequence, no Chani in sight, only Yohan. I don't like the sound of this. Nor the animation of the thing that followed that I didn't screenshot. First- The MC is about to lose their magic arm so they can use its power to destroy the Evil Psychological God, once added to a cannon. Second- There's would be no selfie if I didn't get Yohan to Rank 6. Which basically confirms it- I just set a character-specific-ending flag. Third- The NPC assistant lady here (you can't bond with her) says she's to the effect that she is asexual during Chani's last bonding event. He immediately genuinely pivots from trying to flirt with her to asking for a friendship, and she agrees. -Just a nice little detail.😀 MC falls unconscious as the power leaves their arm. Yohan gets stalked by something unseen. Modeling quality being questionable in Eternights on display.😝 But yep! I was thinking this might happen.😜 The MC is now powerless when they wake up and get the news of Yohan's disappearance. Even without their magic arm, they get up and out. -I chose the latter response, because I do say that of myself... *checks the Akashic Record* every day multiple times, including all the days I've yet to live.😆 Off to rescue My Boyfriend!😤 (Who indeed has practically been my world for the past few IRL days, as you all know.😆) ...I like Chani's choice of words, because while it is gender-ambiguous to account for picking of the ladies, it does sound awesomer when in a gay context, because it means the best bro don't give a damn who I love!😁 ...Although prior to this none of the other characters ever talked about me dating a guy. Weird, when Eternights was so willing to cast me as a straight perv for so much of it. -Being powerless and Chani having no fighting abilities either, means the next event is mere helpless running from zombies. Then Chani distracts them at the end of the sequence. ...I didn't time it well. But inside the barrier, dangling in the middle, is the bleeding, dead Yohan, the selfie he was carrying dropped to the ground. -I have a screenshot of him, but I wouldn't post it, for it's him, desecrated. He doesn't deserve that. The MC, having no strength, can't possibly break the barrier, and falls to his knees, unconscious. The Benevolent Psychological Goddess, Lux, shows up and gives a pep talk about life to the MC and the mysterious entity he had seen in mandatory non-Yohan dreams, who turns out to be himself. Final battle powerup! Basically one-shots everything in a wide area. But before the last-minute tutorial, The MC picks up his beloved's photo, the other characters show up. And the MC rallies them. After this, it's one last area to run through of zombies before reaching the final boss- the Evil Psychological Goddess, Umbra. Once the heroes acquired the two World-Ending McGuffins, Umbra appeared in the MC's dream to figure out his personal weakness. And then kidnapped them, but only after the MC surrendered his power for the Lux Cannon. Umbra's intent for the MC's lover is to fuse with them. Since the heroes have Lux's power, it'll make Umbra immune to the Lux Cannon, and there's no way even if the Hero could fight back, that he'd do so against his one & only. -Except, the MC will find a way to separate his Boy Toy from Umbra and save both him and the world.😊 For Riviera! I reach the final boss, and Yohan is still hanging on inside. The final boss is rather easy, and only one phase. Disappointing. Although, given Yuna is the only source of healing you get, if she was the sacrifice, you'd would possibly be happy it was only one-phase. Yohan fights on, and Umbra writhes at what she cannot comprehend is happening. Yohan?😯 😢 *Handholds furiously.* I have no choice- I have to let go. Relatable.🥺 Crying! From a boy for a boy! Animated! Voiced! With an ending song! (Could've only been better had he actually shouted "Yohan!".) 😭 He ran right through him.🤧 -I'm factually big-crying and sniffling now?😲 I didn't when I was actually playing through the ending! I don't quite understand how. And so the sequence ends. Umbra gets obliterated by the Lux Cannon. Several days pass, everything is back to normal. The MC finally wakes up in his apartment. The game threw in one last generic dirty line at this point, it shouldn't have, breaks the mood.🤨 You take control, walk the MC out the door to go meet all his friends again. They did character endings at this point. Fire Emblem style. 😏 The credits. Anything odd here?😉 Eternights was largely a 1-person creation, or maybe 3-person watching the them all. With the rest of the credits being English/Japanese/Korean VAs and translators/localizers and stuff. Curious change of animation style. Like I seriously ever thought this wasn't going to happen?😛 A schmaltzy happy ending is the order of the day, just as I generally like it.🤗 Especially for this.🏳️🌈 -I failed to get a shot of the MC walking back, realizing who he passed by with hand reaching forward. A QR code ends it all?😕 What for? No explanation is given. *Grabs a device to scan it. Takes a few minutes to get it right.* https://www.studiosai.dev/eternights/ending-videos/YohanEN I can't actually get the video to load in here. -But sequel teaser(?) at the very end aside, I love it.🗺️ Yohan, can I invite this friend of mine and his friend? No, they're not like us. But I know they like to travel. ...Since I don't have a smartphone, I scanned that with a household tablet others often use. Which means immediately after I finished watching the video, I deleted the browser's history. Because I never forgot that I'm still closeted, and Heaven and Earth forbid that somebody somehow stumbles on the clip and the paradisiacal bliss Eternights brought me be replaced by an infernal fiasco.😅 I never mentioned I've been internally rehearsing things I would say -or would want to say but wouldn't- if the Devil had arranged it that somebody stumbled on my many recent Steam screenshots, did I? 👏👏👏 Edited March 6 by Interdimensional Observer
Interdimensional Observer
Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention.: Completing the game gave me an achievement called "Romantic" for doing so while only dating one character. Presumably reaching rank 6-7, maybe also dependent on the two selectable situations in the above. It showed 18% of Steam players (this game is also on Playstation) got that achievement. 30.4% of players got the "max the MC's rank" achievement, which is unmissable. And since that one comes at the very end, it'd be fair to assume 30% of players finished Eternights. 18/30 = 60%. 60% of players chose to be monogamous, not playas. -Only 3.4% of players got the "Dreamboat" achievement for seeing all of Yohan's dates though. Although, it's actually 10% when you do the math with the above achievement. That might be a more reliable estimate. Also, the two dates once you hit max Confidant Rank. I could imagine some players would miss them. --- ...I wrote this out last night, because what else would I do with my time?😅 Only minor modifications, additional needed to be made today. Hence how I'm able to unload this Great Wall o' Text so quickly after the above post.: My review for Eternights? I recommend this game to absolutely no one, yet I cherish it. I could review this game, give it a score based on technical merits. -But do I want to? What is an appropriate score for a game that has made me personally feel the way it has? 10/10, or is that a misuse of numerical ratings? Impossible to Score/10? "Personal"/10? I will say that as I said before Eternights was a one-man first-time 3D game project, and this is evident almost everywhere. The game’s brevity, its lack of enemy variety, the absence of music. I was kind enough to forgive it for these drawbacks, others may not, particularly for its price tag. Beyond that, I will give a nonstandard “review”. A non-review opinion piece, let’s call it.: Spoiler Where to start? …Well, from the day it was revealed, my interest in Eternights began with one thing.: Spoiler *Sees the announcement of an indie action RPG that looks like rather generic anime. Though the commenters tell me it's Westerners attempting anime.* The game doesn't look like it's for me. *Sees it's a dating sim.* Bleh. *Sees official artwork for said game* Hmm? Someone in this picture doesn't belong here. *Checks comments section* GAME IS ON MY RADAR!😍 I'm such a freakin' weirdo.😩 -Written on June 3rd, 2022, in this very topic. I looooove a good forum.😃 ...It was that lone object of my attention that kept me waiting for Eternights's release. That kept me hoping for even half-positive critical reviews. I would’ve liked a 7/10 average, I would’ve settle for a 6/10. I forget what it is on Metacritic -but I don’t care at all now. That singular item I remember was belittled in one harsher review I saw, I think it went “Oh and you can date a guy, Mass Effect did that ages ago, big whoop.”. -Though I knew I wasn’t alone. When the game was announced, I saw commenters on Gematsu who were excited for the same reason as I. When I checked Reddit, I forget when, the lone dev guy had made a thread, and I think I can recall fellow fellows who were probably fellas who liked fellas, offering gratitude for this little concession. *Fast-forward to February 21, 2024* …I began Eternights going slowly. What could’ve taken a mere three or four consecutive IRL days, took much longer. I was very particular when I wanted to play this short game. Considering the cheesy dialogue, and the possibility of how the game could make me feel, I wanted to be isolated. I ended up doing most of the playing at night. I didn’t begin intending to do that, but black or cloudy gray skies soon became my preference.🌃☁️ A sunlit morning cascading into my room, or bright blue skies elsewhere seemed ill-fitting. Eternights, true to the name, is a game where you pretty much never see normal day sky and spend much of it in the dark, or at least at the orange of dawn or dusk. When it is daytime, you’re almost always on the train that serves as the home of the protagonists. I only played for an hour or two each time, not long, each ended either at the end of some plot, or a dungeon, or bonding time. Whole days often passed between play sessions. And on the days on which I played, was bored and impatient, trying to pass the time, waiting for the hour to arrive when I felt I could retire to the bedchamber ’til morning and resume Eternights. My impatience was compounded by yearning. First the Best Friend and the Idol Girl, then the Science Girl and the Track Girl, when would he arrive? I did read a comment or two when Eternights released, ignoring any details given this game’s 10-15 hour length would make any spoiler big. Comments that said Yohan came late, but that the relationship was sweet. Yet I continued to harbor doubts, double-crossing both sets of fingers when alone and praying “please be good please be good”.🤞🤞🤞🤞 Longing I was, to see the answer as soon as I could. I was shown two short dreams where Yohan first appeared, yet these snippets of interaction left me with only more questions. Nine hours passed, which really isn’t very long, for a game of the kind Eternights imitates. Xenoblade 1- has Dunban even joined yet?😆 Personas 4&5- I’m guessing with no actual evidence that you’ve only begun the second dungeon? Yet my erratic play and inquisitive desire to get to Yohan joining stretched those nine hours out in both objective and subjective time. It wasn’t a bad nine hours, I was largely fine with them as light entertainment. One niggle was mini-games, but nothing I couldn’t get past or ignore. The Modern Persona Calendar System was fine to me. -Though Eternights being so short, I didn’t have to experience it for 60 hours, maybe I would’ve soured on it then. And there wasn’t any school exam stuff b/c ongoing apocalypse. -One thing that did kinda annoy me though, was the assumption for most of the game that I was a perverted straight dude. The first little crack in this was the “jump in a locker with Chani while a zombie is chasing after you” option, a joke that doesn’t really count. Then Yuna the idol girl later asked why I chose to do that instead of get in a locker with her, and I could pick “Jealous?” as a dialogue choice. Which produced no memorable reaction. Third instance was the second Yohan dream, where he -thinking me a figment of his unconscious state- asked why the MC existed. My response choices were “To scold you.” and “To flirt with you.”. You know which I picked😘, his response was laughing at the idea he was flirting with himself, but admitted he was pretty handsome. *Cough* …Beyond that, no indications the MC was/could be attracted to guys until Yohan physically showed up. And if it weren’t for me always knowing Yohan was a choice, and for the title art and ingame menus suggesting it, I might not -had I played blind- known I could romance him. Then, he came. I was still nervous. Yohan’s first in-person impression seemed bossy, with an ego -I hoped he wouldn’t be toxic-domineering. He liked making up boastful lies as jokes -I hoped he wouldn’t make a joke that went too far. Once I had control over the MC again… well, you all saw the post where I first achieved eudaemonia.🤣 My concerns were annihilated like the fetters that bind us to samsara. “Sweet” does not adequately describe it, it was a taste known only to the divine, a flavor beyond mortal comprehension. The relationship was almost as rushed as ChromxOlivia in Awakening, yet it brought me -us- to a realm beyond the flow of time. The choice to vary the ending based on who you love the most was nothing I haven't heard of before. But it was still a very nice idea.😀 Adds some retroactive impact to the dating, it's written into the story, not just optional recreation. Seeing Yohan become the unfortunate victim in need of rescuing b/c the MC truly loved him. Then experiencing the melodramatic animated farewell scene between the MC me and Yohan... They hit harder when you can see yourself in them.😂 And Yohan being gay, not avatarsexual, well yeah, sure I was conscious of this, but again, I think it would've helped even had I not been conscious. Lastly, in having a Yohan ending like this, which felt as epic as this solo-project could probably afford, it compensated for much of the earlier "MC seemed very straight" criticism. The ending was a leveler, I felt Yohan was truly the equal to the ladies, getting afforded all of this attention.😀 It's wild to think about in the landscape of "mainstream"-"ish" anime games. --- I saw there was something called "the Gayming Awards" last month. Baldur’s Gate 3 led the nominations. I’m happy for everyone who played BG3 and found self-expression in it, you deserve that basic human right. Eternights had zero nominations, which I get, it ain’t that queer!😝 (But queer enough for me.) However, I’m not into Western RPGs, no offense to them whatsoever. Just as I’m not into celebrity culture, and am very hesitant to watch any LGBTQ+ movies or TV shows (I barely watch movies/TV as is. And seeing queer love stories with real people/actors, I’m not sure I can emotionally handle that while still sorta closeted). I think musicals are what awaits you in Hell (I don’t mean Hadestown!😛), and that’s having tried a good sampling by accident. In the direction where the Sun rises, I don’t read or watch BL manga or anime, or play its visual novels yet, I’m not used to these either. I'm fall into my own peculiar little corner of gay and gaymer.🙃🎮🌈 I’ve grown up on Japanese video games. I love JRPGs and SRPGs and ARPGs in the Japanese/anime mould. This is my gaming comfort zone. Comfort that began with Pokemon RBY and Super Mario RPG & the first Paper Mario around the age of 4, picked up things like Blazing Blade, SRW, and Baten Kaitos and Tales of Symphonia later, and snowballed from there. Eternights isn’t literally “a Role-Playing-Game made in Japan”, Studio Sai is an American guy, it’s a Western indie game. Yet Eternights has a thoroughly, blatantly, anime-styled 3D aesthetic, and the same kind of stupid tropey humor, an acquired taste I acquired long ago. Gameplay has action (albeit it could've used more with more variety), so it isn’t a visual novel. This imitation matters. By appearing so familiar, Eternights was inviting to me. I still felt some wariness, embarrassment of playing this mediocre game. Yet that was much easier to overcome for me than, say, the unfamiliarity, uncertainty if I’d be able to holistically adjust, of trying out a game in the Western style. Also- the moment. We have our fantasies, our ideals, our childlike fairytale images of ourselves and our partners, when it comes to… beauty. Me and Yohan, that precious CG, there’s no way could have envisioned that it would be so… beautiful. I’m sorry to say it, but I don’t know if I could’ve felt this way if it had been two gritty Western fantasy men passionately smooching.😅 That isn’t me, nor who I am, nor that perfect IRL boyfriend I don’t have. Male-male intimacy as two anime boys kissing (the MC so incredibly ordinary in appearance that he reminded me of myself), it sounds ridiculous, but it’s what I wanted. It’s what -beyond the realm of sexuality- that I love, I enjoy, and I am used to. -Don’t judge me. Just as I couldn’t judge a man whose personal visualization of true intimate beauty was the Tom of Finland ideal. I’m a very particular person, wary of leaving their comfort zone through life in general. I would like it if I wasn’t so cautious and hesitant to try new things, but I am.😆 With so many self-imposed barriers to finding what I desire, I don’t have a lot of options. Eternights mirrored the spirit of the games I’ve had decades of fun with, and then gave me Yohan. --- I know, this is looooooooong. And this is on some level embarrassing and pathetic to admit. But admit it I do.🤣 I know it makes a gold mine out of a dung heap. That’s probably because I’m both queer and on the autistic spectrum, divergent of both attraction and general brain activity. When the two align just right -or wrong- the results can be… intense. Introverted nerds are already awkward when they’re entirely “normal”, and normal I’ve never been. ...And that's that done.😅 EDIT: For $20 on sale, methinks this wasn't so bad a buy after all.😄 The 13-hours Steam says I spent on it, ended up being extraordinarily good by the end. A half-week of boundless glee (okay, a little internal bumpiness -my fault, not Eternight's) while not even touching the game between reaching the Glorious Summit of Human Experience and concluding the story. That's how many officially-unlisted hours of unrivaled enjoyment? Deduct 8 for sleep and we're talking 16*4~6? -And I haven't quite left Seventh Heaven just yet!😉☺️ Edited March 5 by Interdimensional Observer
Lightchao42
I've been trying to get back into Three Hopes since I never finished it, but there are so many battles to do and things to keep track of that it feels overwhelming. This feels like a pretty accurate portrayal of Cloud and Sephiroth's relationship. 20 hours ago, Armagon said: Aw hell nah, King Kong is a Green Lantern now. This is rather unexpected, but I look forward to Blue Lantern Mothra and Sinestro Corps Ghidorah. Monsterverse Rodan is aggressive so he can be the Red Lantern.
