Hot Air Balloons also have a limited timer, so it can be tricky to float out of the Depths through the Chasms.

There is a reason, however. Planes and Balloons do not use up batteries like the other Zonai Devices, so my guess is that they needed that cause there'd be no drawback to using them otherwise.

But you also need other devices that do use batteries for wings to function properly, so that doesn’t really make sense, I mean that’s the drawback right there. Balloons I can see though.

Also the same thing is true of rockets, they don’t use batteries and vanish very quickly.

That's actually really appropriate.

Benedict is definitely a Kaga elitist though. He utterly despises the dating sim aspects of modern FE. Though he would enjoy Fates for challenging him and letting him engage in eugenics.

Basically he only liked the really hard or really complex games. Heck, he'd be the one to love ambush reinforcements. He liked curveballs.

The game does like the sound of its own voice, I'll admit, but when it gets into gear the story is very good, and the gameplay doesn't really feel slow to me. It has a built-in turbo, you just press the button and zoom to your next turn. Though the Switch version's worse performance does have an impact there compared to PC.

I lost the motivation of playing Fire Emblem, making Fire Emblem and being here.

Of course I played Engage, but that's about it...

Currently playing through Ys x Touhou and Origami King, and more new franchises.

My backlog is zoooooo huuuuuuuge.

 

Also one cool thing is that I've a workmate who is a as huuuuuuuuuge Falcom fan as I am.

Once per week I meet him and frens for a board game afternoon, and he plays Falcom muziek with his phone.

Yeah, slight Kaga elitism but really, his favorite FEs are Conquest and FE6. He also LOVES fe11’s gaiden chapters and their requirements and thinks that was peak FE design (and of course he loves the sacrifice from the prologue, although he’s never played it because he refuses to use the content restoration patch).

I mean… you’ve seen Roland. Although boomer is probably not the right term, he’s more like an edgelord who’s like “Bern was right, Daein was right, Nohr was fucking based”. He ends up effectively being a boomer because when he was younger and playing FE4 in his hay day, he didn’t have such… extreme views and liked the cool knights story. But then he grew up and is “too mature” for FE stories. He plays real games, like Shadow the Hedgehog.

So i've been playing with DLC emblems/characters/classes this run (didn't really use before) and slowly forming an opinion on them...

Characters:

Honestly...the 2 dragons are less fun than expected? I usually love dstone characters in FE, but Nel and Rafal are kinda...ok? Doesn't help that Dstones have no meaningful Emblem interactions, so unlike Alear and Veyle you can't go crazy with Dragon interactions.

Zelestia is very fun tho, then again when is a flying Mage not fun?

Shiny Marnie and Bdsm dude are normal. Although Marnie is super tanky....will have hit problems with her base 12 dex however.

Classes:

Enchanter is wild with it's shenanigans, and Cannooner is a cooler ballista with the various status effects it brings.

Emblems:

Tiki: I think Tiki is the reason i find Nel & Rafal so...meh. She has lotsa cool different Dragon attacks, cool utility, and is just very fun in general.

3 Houses: I really dig. Combat arts using emblem turns as a resource is really cool, and the relics not being locked behind class types is cool.

Camilla: Dragon veins, lightning and Air movement oh my. Not as good as Corn due to lack of debuff, but Magic and speed prowess is really appreciated. Also BEEG AoE. Hurricane Axe will probably sweep fliers of the map with Camilla

Soren: Can't wait to get Veyle for 100% crit shenanigans. Assign decoy shenanigans is also fun. Haven't really made use of Reflect yet

Hector: Aside from Quick Riposte, pretty boring tbh.

Chrom & Robin: Grandmaster class in Emblem form! Levin Sword, Rally Spectrum, Thoron and +10 Mag, this Emblem is really good on any mixed attackers, especially those who need oomph in their magical attacks. Free chain attacks also cool.

Veronica: Contract, no counters, Reprisal, buff clearing and gacha pulls oh my. Honestly, her kit is so crazy, Gacha pulls is like the most tame of it. Then there's also the book of worlds thing. That Emblem is crazyyyyy

Not really, you only need other devices if you want it to go anywhere other than down (it's technically a glider).

They use batteries actually, it's just miniscule cause they vanish pretty quickly.

In the case of rockets, I guess is because they couldn't let you go up indefinitely.

The Iberian Peninsula is only slightly bigger than the state of Nevada. Similar climate too, ish. Tho you guys are a peninsula, Nevada gets nothing outside of aliens. And prostitutes (the only state in the country where it's legal). And gambling.

Current status of the Angevin Empire formally known as England:

Subjects are Norway, Novgorod, Aragon (a pretty long-standing personal union at this point), and a few minors along the eastern border of France (Champagne, Bar, Lorraine, Provence, if I didn't forget anybody) that I diplo-vassalised because that doesn't cause aggressive expansion.

Technically, all the little German princes are also my vassals, since I've been the Holy Roman Emperor since 1496 (following the death of Ladislaus Postumus, who stuck around a lot longer in this timeline), but it'll take a while until that's going to be "official".

Current priority is to remove all the not-yellow from the religious mapmode and make sure that everybody becomes a nice, cookie-eating Catholic again. I was a bit unlucky with where the centres of reformation spawned - one Protestant in a Bohemian province (who I was allied with at the time), one in Sjaelland (right after another war vs. the Danes, so I had a long truce there) - but I was also a bit slow with removing the Reformed ones - Brussels, Waldstätte (in Switzerland), and Dortmund.

On the plus side, I'm fairly optimistic that the 30-years war is not going to happen. The only non-Catholic Elector remaining is Bohemia, and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to force religion on them before the Protestant League is going to form - right now, I still have a truce with them from the war in which I took their centre of reformation from them in order to convert it back to Catholic.

Also, I'm not convinced that this is the best way to present mission requirements.
