  1. Honestly, it depends on how the game is released over here what I'll do. Physical is my preference, but if there's some bundle being released I'd be fine going digital. If we do get a Pokemon-esque two version deal over here, it will be tempting to not just buy both, but then I also want to have it all in one place and I don't think it will work like that.
  2. Just finished purging some less-than-okay posts. Try not to stray too far off-topic or get spammy.
  3. Your view of women has some problems, of course what you've said is going to be taken personally by actual women. First you said you didn't think women could lift an axe "because they're women," but you also revealed that you have a fundamental disconnect with the realities of real women by admitting here that you didn't think it possible because you'd never seen it. You are literally saying, "I didn't think a woman could ever be this strong because I've never seen one [and because they're women]." Do you realize how absurd that thought is? This isn't fucking Santa Claus we're talking about here, this is the capabilities of actual people. Do you also think women can't be good stand-up comedians because most of them are men? There are differences between men and women physiologically, yes, but it's not large and certainly not large enough that a fantasy series like Fire Emblem needs to adhere to it in order to withhold suspension of disbelief.

Given what you had to work with, I'm impressed. Good job!
  5. Why is there a Mia vs Zihark debate happening in here? Good thing it's over. And if you don't catch my drift, that's me saying, "Stop."
  6. Don't get caught up in specifics when my point wasn't about specifics. Even if something goes wrong, which it definitely can: This statement still holds true. It's not about Metroid. Besides, it's not like Other M was regressive, but that's a conversation for another day.
  7. One step forward, two steps back, but don't ignore that there was a step forward in there. I didn't say having a female lead automatically makes something good, just that the concept of giving women more importance in media is a progressive one.
  8. Unfortunately, that's not the world we live in. Giving more importance to women in media very much is progress.
  9. Trainer Battle Theme: Voted Hoenn, but they're all kind of equal for me except Sinnoh's, which I found annoyingly repetitive. Evil Team: Plasma (BW, not BW2) is my favorite, though I also like Galactic, Magma/Aqua, and Flare. Rival Battle: Silver, no contest. Gym Battle: Kanto 2, though most of these are pretty good. Champion: Cynthia, though I like all of them except for Alder and Iris. In other news, Ana loves Sinnoh and hates Hoenn for the 2,539 time. What a surprise.
  10. This, too. Class-based promotion items kind of suck. Unless you want to promote your units before level 21. Which I, at least, do quite often. I'd sooner think RD could use more promotion items than that they're pointless.
  11. Ideally, it wouldn't be unusual, but in our world, it is.
  12. Czar_Yoshi perfectly explained the way I read them. The way those sentences are worded make it sound like the children are smoking/taking the exam, but it's at least ambiguous. Like, looking at #5, if you read Karasuma's statement without reading the context, would you ever think it's someone else taking the exam? Same applies to #3. I'd say every statement could be worded better, but I suppose that's part of the experiment, right? EDIT: Also, why just 3 and 5? The same way of reading them can lead #2 to being true, as well.
  13. I really liked Awakening's even ratio myself (before Spotpass recruits, it's actually majority female, which is extremely rare), and I'm happy If seems to be doing the same. I'm especially happy that it looks like I'll be able to have two leading ladies (Kamui and Aqua). While plenty of male gamers will claim this and mean it, it's simply the case that most male gamers gravitate towards male-lead games (or movies, books, etc.). The opposite is true for women, too, but women are more likely to go for a male lead than men are to go for a female lead, and most entertainment is made by men and for men as it is. I probably went further there than you meant, but basically, having a male lead (and sometimes, a majority male cast) does matter, even if only subconsciously, to many male gamers.
  14. That's not really true, though: Fire Emblem - They just didn't add a subtitle. Sacred Stones is not a literal translation but basically the same thing. Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn are fairly different from what direct translations would be, though not really significantly in PoR's case (Trail of the Blue Flame). Shadow Dragon is just a shortening of the full title. Awakening is a literal translation. I don't think they'll use If, but they'll probably use something that evokes the same concept.
  15. Just because he doesn't use Luigi himself doesn't mean he isn't more knowledgeable about the match-up. Higher-level players know match-ups, it's how they get better, and as a result they will know more things even about characters they don't use than some less-skilled players who use the character all the time. And, again, it's not just Knife saying this, but also PKL and Jedi. You're not the master of your precious Luigi. Accept it.
  16. If I understand the assignment correctly: 1. Maybe? Just because the exam is easy doesn't mean it's hard to fail; if failing is your goal, it should always be easy. In fact, even easier if the exam is easier to pass, because that means you know the right answers and can confidently give the wrong answers. But since you said not to overthink it, this might just be a "yes." 2. No. 3. No. 4. Yes. 5. No.
  17. Yes, Knife is better than you. Part of the reason for this is that he knows match-ups and characters better, so you should quit trying to act like you know more than him just because it's a character you use. Unhindered, Luigi's recovery can probably be called very good. But at higher levels, opponents won't just let you come back to the stage for free, and this is where Knife's points are coming from. Not just Knife, but also PKL and Jedi, tournament level players, are saying the same thing.
  18. With the advent of the internet, this is kind of pointless since everyone already knows the Japanese style of release. I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to simply not consider such a thing, but it does lend credence to the idea that the non-Japanese release will be different.
  19. I will buy everything available to me like a careless fanatic.
  20. Or maybe he is and he's kept his identity a secret! Alright, I admit it: I am FE|Wolt! (I'm kidding)
  21. If they were planning to use If, they probably would have shown it in the English directs already. I really have no idea what they might use otherwise, though.
  22. This reminds me of the time I heard from a friend who worked at GameStop that a mom wouldn't let her son get Smash Bros. because he's "not allowed to play games where you can hit girls." I facepalmed.
  23. I've actually seen a surprising amount of anime fans just not care and say, "Yeah, anime is cartoons." Myself included. I think the "anime isn't cartoons!" stuff comes from younger people who are new to anime and feel like they need to differentiate anime from what is typically seen as "kid's stuff." But later on you realize there just isn't really a point.
