  1. The primary set I want to practice with is Rosalina & Luma 2311. Shooting Star Bit is pretty obvious, Luma Warp is fast and can easily catch an opponent off guard for damage or even a kill. I've seen some people use Guardian Luma, but even against opponents without projectiles, I just can't see myself using that. Another set is R.O.B. 1233. Reflector Arm, because reflecting is really the only thing side b is ever good for. Fast-burning fuel for quicker, less punishable recovery that still gains a lot of distance, as well as easier chasing of opponents off the top. And Slip Gyro for tripping opponents, though default gyro is always a solid option. Then Wii Fit Trainer 2321. Enriched Sun Salutation for a powerful shot that charges pretty fast, though default can still be good for speed and size when fully charged and still having kill power, though not as much. And 1% healing. But in most cases I think I'll prefer the power. Weighted Header for edge guards and safer returns to the stage, and more power and practicality in general. Jumbo Hoops for racking up damage early. Those are the characters I use that I feel get the most out of customs (for me, at least), but I also use: Marth with Crescent Slash and sometimes Iai Counter. Robin with Thunder+ and sometimes Distant Nosferatu. Ike with Close Combat and Smash Counter. I can see the value in Aether Drive, but I've found it hard to run off fair and make it back with that, so I'm not so sure. Lucina with Iai Counter. Zelda with Phantom Breaker and sometimes Din's Flare. Peach with slow turnips. Samus with many possible combinations. Samus is interesting in that only, like, 2 of her 12 specials don't seem very good at all (Melee Charge Shot and default Missile), with the rest being about even, and even Melee Charge Shot is useful in specific match-ups (Rosalina/Olimar). I'm having a difficult time deciding on a set up for her. Jigglypuff with Pound Blitz. And then Zero Suit Samus is the one I prefer totally default.
  2. Am I in? Do I want to be in?
  3. We finally did it! And Febro won 2-1. I took one game (the first game in both sets, incidentally) and was at a last stock situation in the other matches against two players I consider better than myself, so I'm pretty satisfied with how I played overall. Especially since the last time I played Febro, I got completely destroyed.
  4. Let's imagine if the game were marketed as just one game with one route - let's say Hoshido - then Nohr came later as DLC, and then the third route came even later as DLC, but by the end it all would cost the same price anyway. Would this be preferable? Why or why not?
  5. Dumb as they may be, I do enjoy these "... is ridiculous" write-ups from smash fanatic.
  6. This shit had better come out of Japan. And be reasonably stocked, too, unlike the Majora's Mask one.
  7. Yeah. No. "There's not enough experience to promote every single unit," lol, no shit. Way to completely miss the point.
  8. We don't need to do this again. Believe what you want, but stop talking about this character. And don't respond to this post unless it's via PM. Obviously, no one else should respond to this, either.
  9. Lunatic is hard. It may not be hard for you, but being good at it doesn't change that it is a difficult mode. A voiced narrator would be cool, but there are 6 Robin voices, so I don't think so on that part.
  10. Awakening might have been a little rushed at parts, but it wasn't short and that definitely wasn't its main problem. Discounting Lyn's mode, which has very little to do with the main story, FE7 is actually shorter. As stated by others, most of the games are about the same length or shorter compared to Awakening. Awakening's overall length is more than enough to tell a good, concise story. Well, we already knew that.
  11. I don't mind auto-promotions, but I think I do ultimately prefer promotion items. They provide that extra level of balance deciding who to use them on and when.
  12. #Nohrmasterrace I never assumed the third route was meant to be the most difficult. In fact, it being in the middle difficulty-wise goes more in line with what I expected: a "middle-of-the-road" option with pieces of both sides and hopefully the most interesting story. They're really trying to play Nohr up, lol.
  13. I saw your above post but somehow missed the part where you mentioned those. Oops. So it's actually listed as a separate objective, then? Interesting. I have to wonder what it could possibly mean, though. What's going to differentiate it from rout or seize?
  14. People, "break through" is probably just rout.
  15. That combined with 34 doubling all the Spirits alone. It's the magic number for all of Endgame (or at least E-4 and E-5), not just Auras.
  16. No, they have 35 AS. http://serenesforest.net/radiant-dawn/classes/base-stats/ Fire and Wind Spirits have 30 AS. Thunder Spirits have 28 AS.
  17. Not like the current discussion in this topic is anything meaningful, anyway.
  18. How does the exact part you quoted not say exactly what you're saying here? Right after the part you bolded was "and even retaliate against those who do, such as you and me." And why would we retaliate if we didn't think they were wrong? My point was that we shouldn't give the bad parts more recognition than they are actually due, not that we shouldn't work to get rid of them.
  19. SoC, you're a smart guy, but you're cherry-picking just like all the people you quoted. Serenes Forest is a big target because it is, in your own words, "The core FE community English forum". Does SF have bad apples? Duh. Everywhere does. But as soon as you can quote BrightBow, I can link this. And if SF has such a bad habit of turning away new members, why do we still get new members who do stick around? It's not like all the current members have been around for years. Some people don't like us? Inevitable. That's fine. We're good enough without them. As for older fans treating newer fans poorly because of casual mode, yeah, it happens, and it's unfortunate, but there are also plenty of veterans who don't and even retaliate against those who do, such as you and me. They just need to be more vocal, because they're actually more numerous, but a person is more likely to speak up for a dislike of something than for apathy. Now, I'm sorry if I interpreted anything wrong or took something here too much out of context, feel free to point it out if I did, but when you say, "The core FE community English forum in general... feels pretty crappy," it just kind of gets on my nerves. We're not perfect, no one is, but I for one think we're in a pretty good place. If there's one thing I dislike about Casual mode, it's this great debate and divide that spawned from it.
  20. I checked around 3 hours after your post and you weren't online, and at that point I had to go... I've got most of today and tomorrow. Somehow, we'll make this happen.
  21. I guess Febro and I missed each other yesterday? Febro, when will you be available again?
  22. It's a fan game, what do you expect? Anyway, I really doubt Pokken is going to follow all the rules of the type chart, so Gengar being Ghost-type won't cause problems.
  23. I've never played Mortal Kombat, but to my understanding, the gore is a major draw of the series and much of its identity. Perma-death is not that for Fire Emblem. Perma-death is a piece of Fire Emblem's identity, sure, but if someone were to ask me what I find special about Fire Emblem, perma-death might not even be something I mention at all. Saying casual goes "against the core idea of the series" is a pretty massive overreaction.
  24. The problem isn't in how many there are, but in everything else about them. My biggest problem on my first run was that I almost always would be preparing to recruit at least one character in any given chapter. Recruiting enemies is fine and good, but this game does it so much it started to get on my nerves, especially with a chapter like 16. There's also the nigh-unusability of many of them. The best part of having a lot of options is being able to choose based on your own preference, but that's kind of defeated when half the choices are more like shooting yourself in the foot.
