  1. Uh, what? Do you think I was accusing you of saying it didn't make sense? Because I most definitely was not.
  2. So far we've seen at least 8 characters who are from one side. It makes sense that a few would choose to follow you regardless of which side you pick.
  3. Have you seen the second trailer? Chrom and Marth/Lucina are clearly the faces of Awakening, at least disregarding Smash. And Aqua is clearly being used as the face of If. That post was talking about in just the game itself, not marketing or anything else. In game, as far as we know, they are completely equal.
  4. Mass Effect isn't fps, but you're right that the situations here are much, much different. Not even just the style of the games themselves, but the marketing; I only bothered with Mass Effect when I found out Shepard could be a woman, which was by no means clear to see from the perspective of someone not really following it. How many people might have played the game if only they'd known? Even so, apparently there was some outcry over her getting ignored, prompting Bioware to make promotional art and a couple trailers for her. Fire Emblem definitely has a larger female fanbase than Mass Effect.
  5. What do you do with Sully such that she's just mediocre? Sully is easily one of the most solid units in the game. A +Str support can be helpful, but anyone who gets her doubling and dual strikes with her should make easy work for 99% of the game's enemies on hard. For best results, go Wyvern Lord, but Paladin and Great Knight should still work out nicely. Cherche and Maribelle are tougher to work with, though. Honestly, Maribelle doesn't really have much of anything over other healers. You just have to staff spam and keep her back until she has a high enough support level to reasonably frontline, and even then it can still be risky. Cherche's issue is her late arrival and mediocre stats, especially Speed. She'll take some work to get up, but a +Spd support will probably be the most helpful for her in the long run.
  6. It's probably just a case of more people being familiar with Robin than Villager or WFT. I'm sure Animal Crossing fans who play as a girl in those games, but don't play FE, probably care about a female Villager amiibo much more than female Robin. And Smash players mostly aren't Wii Fit players, so... One could also argue that Robin is more of a "character" than them what with dialogue and development, stuff WFT and Villager don't really have. This can make it more likely for people to care about Robin over them. Especially WFT.
  7. So much to respond to. This is someone's job. They can probably switch out in a matter of seconds (us, the players, can get a similar inventory shot in Awakening in a matter of minutes. A developer should have no trouble). It is no excuse. These things are never intentional. No one is sitting around thinking Nintendo and IS have some grand scheme to make MKamui the canon/default/whatever Kamui. It's a case persistent subconscious sexism. It's not the worst offender in the industry by any means, but it's certainly not very progressive. Just, like, compare it to the marketing for Pokemon OR/AS. There was plenty of pre-release footage, and almost all of it featured Brendan and May equally. For example, they had videos showcasing new mega evolutions, and for each one they switched off the character being used. That was a good way to do it. (Unfortunately, the demo didn't let you pick or switch off and used only the boy, but I guess no one's perfect) Then look at Mass Effect, where you probably wouldn't even know Shepard can be female unless you're told about it elsewhere (<- how I found out) or watch someone play the game since male Shepard is everywhere. Games with a choice of gender never give more attention to the woman, and usually don't give equal treatment, either. I always advocated amiibos for female Villager and male WFT. Precisely. The trailer uses exclusively male Kamui. Aside from about two screenshots, female Kamui is only seen alongside male Kamui. Male Kamui is on his own much more often. I don't think anyone said this, but there is a clear lack of understanding of gender imbalance issues from some posters in this thread. Lack of understanding =/= apathetic. What I dislike is that anyone who agrees is apparently making a mountain out of a molehill and just shouldn't care at all that female Kamui is clearly getting the shaft.
  8. No, it is not. One thing is that I don't see anyone making a mountain out of it (some of us are annoyed but no one is treating it like something offensive). But the point is that it sucks to have your side feel ignored. Many male gamers won't really understand this due to the large majority of male leads and prioritizing of male leads in marketing, but it sucks to play as the girl and always see the boy everywhere else. It gives an impression of the male being default and female being alternate when they should be equal. Also Thor Odinson's post above, though I don't agree with the idea of, "Well it may have been one playthrough and they didn't want to do another." If marketing is your job, do your fucking job and don't be lazy about it. "One run" is not an excuse here.
  9. Why do you make worthless posts like this all the time? If female Kamui were overtly sexualized, that would follow. But otherwise, it's about the relatability to the lead and the fact that male gamers are more likely to be turned off by a female lead than female gamers are by a male lead. Besides, Camilla is there.
  10. It's annoying, but it's not too big of a deal to me. I hoped that since Pokemon was doing a pretty good job of not prioritizing either one for the most part, Fire Emblem might as well, but that seems to not be the case. At least it's not as bad as Mass Effect. Maybe for you, but if you think that's true for the rest of world, turn around.
  11. Mii Brawler is most definitely the best out of the 3 by a mile. Helicopter Kick (I think that's what it's called, might be wrong) can kill crazy low. Also I just played again for the first time in a few weeks and damn I already feel so rusty.
  12. I'd actually be more fine with Phoenix mode available for any difficulty, but just not selectable from the start. The developers said it's for people who find the game too difficult but still want to keep going, so why offer it right up front? Have people start in casual, and then if they're having too much difficulty, present the option for Phoenix.
  13. I don't even understand how people find it so hard to not go out and spoil the game for themselves. It's the opposite for me. You'd have to put a gun to my head to force me to spoil the game for myself. The delay could be five years and I still wouldn't spoil it for myself. I'm only going to follow pre-release info until the Japanese release, then I'm steering clear until it's in my hands.
  14. Out of 7 billion people on the planet, I'm pretty sure you're the only one. Almost every FE world deals with dragons in some way. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
  15. Shirobako. I've been watching that recently myself.
  16. For these purposes, I expect Lunatic+ Phoenix and Lunatic+ Classic to be considered separately.
  17. I was just thinking, "I could swear you mentioned that before." Surprised it was found so quickly, though.
  18. Realistically, like for real, as in real life? Civilian. However, if I were theoretically in a Fire Emblem world? I imagine I'd be somewhere in the back. Mage or healer of some sort.
  19. 5%. The chance exists. Mysterious Murasame Castle finally saw a western release nearly 20 years after its original debut. Chances are pretty damn low, though. If we happen to get an announcement of a localized Mother 3 at E3 to go with Lucas, though (which I also find extremely unlikely), the chance would probably go way up.
  20. This is great, L'Arachel thinks she's the main character while Ephraim and Eirika are, uh...getting ready to have some fun together, I guess.
  21. What the hell are you trying to say? This is a really bad counter argument. Plenty of those items can be useful depending on who the player is using and how they play. The only items from there I could never see a knowledgeable player buying are the Statue Frag and a second Iron Longbow. Maybe the Master Seals, as well.
  22. No, I mean a player who knows the game. Have you seen the prices on that stuff? Let me paste some notable ones: You're not handed that much funds. Sure, you're not going to want to buy all that, but 1) newer players won't necessarily know what is good and what isn't, and 2) if even skilled players can't afford it all, and can have trouble affording what they do want, my point should be clear. And that's just part 1.
