I've actually read a few of Asimov's most referenced works, but I've never read Clarke. I've SEEN 2001: A Space Odyssey.

My favorite sci fi author would maybe be CJ Cherryh right now, I've been on a binge. Gene Wolfe and Leguin are long-standing favorites.

I beat the game and tbh romance isn't the kind of thing that can make me weep, but the last scene with Didier before you get out of the mansion pulled tears from my eyes. All in all it was really good generally too. I still think the first scenario was kinda meh, even though I thought Nell and Mellie were well done when they appeared in chapter 7.

And...in hindsight I think the backlog surprises in ch 4 come after bloody/glitchy effects so there's sort of a hint.

Also I'm in what the steam guide says is the final chapter so I do know now for sure who was making the "changes" in the backlog that I noticed. I think in the earlier chapters (I know specifically chapter 2) that character makes comments, not the maid, but I don't think those comments are backlog only. (Though maybe there are more that are)

NOTE: I didn't even see your first comment went between my 2nd and third until now...

And ya someone who did the steam guide for the occasional choices also said there might be some add'l lines in a replay. I am debating between trying to read it right away to get the best chance to spot the differences, or give it a few months so I actually enjoy rereading and still have a chance to spot them.

Since I haven't' beaten the game yet I dunno who it is.

I dunno if you noticed it when you played, but around the time they first go up into the observation tower and talk about the witch, if you read the log, another character will "take over" the backlog and make a variety of ominous comments. If you know if there are times prior in the game where it does this, lemme know. I don't think so, cuz I use the backlog so much already.

I actually MIGHT do this because I've played Battletoads Double Dragon before. I wasn't even good enough to beat it on my own back then, but I might revisit it. Don't expect to win the challenge. But I figure it won't take me too long to either beat it, or decide I'm sucky enough not to beat it.

I disagree. The perspectives on war do connect directly with Andrei and Pierre's stories pretty directly. I don't remember about what time I felt this was the case (like how far into the book it was) but I'm pretty sure it was fairly early on. At least by the time that Andrei is in Petersburg and meets Natasha.

I actually do think the historical thesis on subjects like the "great men of history" connects to the situations and experiences of some of the characters, but the explicit discussion of that theme doesn't really strengthen their stories.
