  1. From the hairstyle its Cecil (I think, its a small image), she certainly looks to be a redhead in that art, but it probably will change back to pink in the actual game.
  2. Also everyone that isn't the villain is an Altea character. Seems odd to add Sheema in like that, with all those changes...
  3. Tch, wait till E3 before you worry we won't get the game. I mean, that's a good venue for announcing it.
  4. In eight years Nintendo has switched through six different models of handheld system. Also, if we wait the two years will it suddenly be 'not too soon?' HG/SS are about ten years after G/S came out. And the defining aspect of if a remake is worth the time or not is how it has weathered history. HG/SS completely redesigned the original games leaving only the plot alone and added a ton of new content. I only suggest that Six can get a similar redesign because there are ways they can enhance and add to the title in ways Nintendo is known for. Yes, I do realize Nintendo doesn't make the games, IS does, however it isn't like IS is foreign to connectivity between its games if it serves some purpose. If they can make connectivity between the GBA-DS work without it seeming to spit in the eye of everyone that's upgraded to the DSi, I think a remake of six could do pretty well.
  5. I generally wouldn't suggest the idea without the angle of we never got FE6 in English. FE7 and FE8 being remade for DS would be a bad plan (unless FE7 were combo'd into FE6). I'm not talking spamming remakes like Squeenix, hoping one sticks.
  6. Furby, on my being elitist over playing Classic... Well, to be fair, the people I plan to rub it in the face of complain about FE then mock me for not playing Brawl+. So getting to be the elitist gamer mocking casual gamers for once? Yeah, I will. I think the way most info on the game comes from is actually reading reviews written by the various game magazines. I know some companies use fan forums for a bit of idea where to go and what works, but I doubt this is an example. I'm one of those Megaman players that doesn't have a problem with 'spikes don't kill you' being an option. I'm not a fan of the EXE and Ryuusei games, because they don't play the same.
  7. Furby, the thing is, my stance isn't built on the idea that people can't get better. Mine is also built that people sometimes need to start at easier and step up to hard, and that you can't just start on the most challenging set-up. On A: Yes, some people will have that reaction. Most, however, will react 'wow, these games are much harder than the one I played' and, well, get better. I started on Seven, which by compare to the other games is easy as hell. Did you start on the game instantly perfect at every chapter playing a flawless ranked run? On B: That is under the idea IS is run by idiots who can't plot in two directions. Let's take Shadow Dragon as an example, five levels of hard mode for easily bored players. Gaiden Chapters and Faceless recruits for weaker players. FE13 is giving another direction for forgiving players, but it is NOT mutually exclusive to challenging players. On C: IS has two experiments going this game, experiments are how a game grows and stops from being stale. FE7 added the Tactician system as a test, it didn't take. FE8 tried dual promotion routes, didn't keep either. FE9 split Str and Mag. That took. I'm figuring faceless units will return from FE11 too. I forget, have all Fire Emblem games had difficulty settings, or was that an experiment at one point? "Oh no they added a 'Hard mode' soon everything in the game will be impossible for casual players."
  8. See, that's an odd stance to take. I mean, I plan to play on Classic Mode, an upper difficulty (I didn't for SD because I like Frey and Norne) with low tier units. Why am I okay with Casual Mode? So when someone talks about Fire Emblem: New Mystery I can be a pretentious jerk and say "Oh, you're playing on Casual mode. Well, I suppose that's okay..."
  9. I was hoping FE6 was remade before FE3, simply as the further an FE6 remake is from the end of the DS-Lite era, the less likely any parental connection can be made using the GBA slot on the older model DS. Although, knowing Nintendo, a DSi download of FE7 to pull the same job could be fashioned (for more money). Crafting at least some FE6remake/FE7 connectivity could help a remake of FE6 (marginally). Most of the parent sets aren't laid in stone, and a few of the FE7 characters can pair off without a connected FE6 character. Giving a lot of options for new characters/updates to the game.
  10. The closest function I can think of to this is how you unlock Manaphy in Pokemon Fourth Gen. Which would require you to borrow a second DS to access a save file wirelessly, but it doesn't appear that that was planned for. It could still be done... maybe, I dunno. Probably not.
  11. Sophius... just *facepalm* Nintendo broadening the game's scope to include more people does not mean they will preclude details of importance to the old faithfuls of the game. The only changes you HAD to deal with in Shadow Dragon (compared to FE1): - General overhaul of the Class system (Promotions, LV30 for non-promoting units, loss of Dismount, retooled stat system). None of these were actually a bad thing. - Reclassing which you can ignore if you want to follow the game's standard design. - Prf weapons for Marth and Caeda. Which you can NOT USE if you so desire. - Slightly buffed storyline with Prologue. Not really damaging. - New characters, which can be IGNORED if you don't want to access the Gaidens. None of these had a detrimental effect on the game, and increased the sales of the game if they were to just 'rerelease FE1'. We don't know how My Unit will work. We don't know if its a required aspect of the game. We don't know how it will effect the whole plot. And, if you really want to, you can imagine the My Unit as JUST ANOTHER CHARACTER. It isn't like Fire Emblem lacks random recruits. Name him Bob, give him a less than impressive set of aspects, make him a class you don't hate, and move on. We already have been told that Casual Mode isn't going to upset Classic Mode. You're really just looking for ways to take shots at the game when we don't know everything. Wait till July, and the game comes out, and we get a full report from someone who buys the Japanese game. THEN you can complain how the game 'ruined it for the hardcore gamers' ...Which I doubt it'll do as it isn't likely they will make it so you can't Solo the game with a single character.
  12. If you look at the added art for the Gaiden characters for Shadow Dragon, the art style is pretty much the same. With the exception of one Mercenary Swordsman I rather liked the Shadow Dragon art, the detailing and design for the cast that got full art was very nice. The portraits trying to mimic that art felt a little flat, but FE really would be good if they added emotive portraits of a kind similar to Ace Attorney games (at least for some of the more main cast in any game).
  13. If there isn't a skincolor option now (which might have just been omitted in the details... still a chance for that), we could still see it in the international release. Just like multi-player maps in FE11 and skin color options in Pokemon Battle Revolution.
  14. Well, FE9 had 4 females wearing full pants (and a few wearing tights and/or boots that suitably covered their legs... Lucia's thigh-high boots being the most interesting for this game) Eight is a bit debatable on its two females with pants. Neimi's are shorts but they go past her knees, and Tethys's pants are technically see through. Seven... is a bad example, okay! Six gives us a nice and respectable score of... Six, actually (although that Dancer's pants are see-through and go just over the knee only... I say that counts still). Five gets us three. For the record I am only counting pants and not tights, or things that might be tights with REALLY TALL BOOTS. As the comment was about pants... As an aside seriously do boots only come in thigh high in this world, even the guys are wearing them... Four gets us three... I think. I got distracted, okay! Dancers in this game don't understand how to wear clothes. >.> Three Book 1 has 1, and Book 2 gives us 2 more. Total of 3! I mean, given the art style and the fan service they aim for these numbers are pretty good... if you ignore how many females are in each game I mean. And this was just pants, most girls have rather respectable leg coverage in very interesting ways... except the dancers in FE4 who REALLY don't understand clothing and wearing them. Not that this is a complaint at all. ^_^
  15. My current theory/hope is: Shadow Dragon had 25 Chapters, 5 Gaiden chapters, and 4 Prologue chapters. New Mystery should be about that length as a minimum (Not counting Book 1). If wishes were horses we might get 50 chapters total but that is highly unlikely. Given we know there is a Prologue, we can figure a range of 4-10 chapters could become the prologue of the game. (Either a simple Gaiden prologue akin to Shadow Dragon, or a more robust Prologue similar to Lyndis Story). Five Gaiden Chapters is a pretty good count. That gives room for about 5-10 new chapters of story. At least, how I see it. My hope is about 45 chapters split as follows: Prologue 1-10. Introducing My Unit as well as some other characters (new, reintroduced from SD, or part of the Altean army). The main story bolstered to 30 Main chapters. The 'new chapters' that were not part of Book 2 focusing on My Unit helping in ways Marth is unaware of. So for some chapters are Marth and My Unit as Lords, some just Marth, and some just My Unit. Five Gaiden Chapters, where My Unit is needed to activate them in some way, Marth is optional for them and My Unit is the Lord for them. These are ways to introduce new characters. I am not really for a Hector mode in this case, or a Sequel. If he is to be Marth's other side it should all be one story in the big picture.
  16. Well... given the options for characteristics on your My Unit, no matter what there will be at least the cosmetic differences during his/her dialog. By which I mean, he/she will get different reactions based on his/her past-present-future-gender choices. Somewhat like Tactician in FE7. Perhaps a bit more effect attached. Unless more options are given, My Unit might be able to have dialog crafted based on picking and choosing by scene which aspects effect the dialog. Basically two gender paths of dialog and some scenes will be further changed by past, present, or future (but not all three). I'm also sure hair color will get a comment or two during gameplay. I'm not ready to label My Unit as Mary Sue yet. Given how many characters just SHOW UP to join the war, My Unit isn't so different. And Marth is still the hero, I might be a bit peeved if My Unit gets his/her own S Rank at the end of the day however.
  17. There is no "Book 3" in the sense that FE3 had "Book 1" (20 chapters from FE1) and Book 2 (20 new chapters). FE12 right now has the 'new content' focusing on the My Unit character as Prologue chapters and Gaiden chapters. I am still hoping that we will get at least 5-10 new storyline chapters that aren't Gaiden chapters to just flesh the game out more. 20 chapters is a bit lite for a main story.
  18. On the Gaiden and forced mass suicide to get to them. It isn't so much that its hard to do, its just tedious to do. Am I using the unit? Not really. Do I wanna go through the work setting them up to die to get to a Gaiden chapter? Not really. I want the Gaiden chapters to be an accomplishment to get to again, like in 7. That you worked for getting into them via hurdles to overcome. Not wasting chapter turns murdering units. Having to rotate out units I wanted to level to make room for units to kill was annoying.
  19. I've got a few ideas in more detail of how they could fix (read: make less insane/stupid) reclass. Most of them ruin what I used Reclass for, but I am actually fine with that. Option 1: Every character is given 3-4 classes to pick from (with one being their starting class. Pro: Individualizes every Character. Con: Programming Nightmare. Option 2: Similar to FE8 and how dual promotion paths worked, all the classes are put on a GIANT LIST and you can move 1-2 up or down from starting. Pro: Still gives the individual feel, less programming hell. Gives some meaning to Starting Class. Con: Male and Female sprites of more classes might be a problem. Some characters might get gimped by their options a lot more than before. Option 3: 3 Class Sets of 4 Classes. ...Honestly this isn't much better than 2 sets of Six. Option 4: 4 sets of 3. So long as they don't just outright cut each class set in half, this could be the best option. They also need to retool Dark Mage a bit for it to work, so it's different from Mage and Cleric (stats anyway). Since each character is limited to 3 classes respriting them is easier to do. The Gender mix still leaves females out of some class circles, but as the circles are smaller a lack of Axe proficient females isn't the end of the world so long as some get access to good classes like Horseman and General (good for gameplay mode anyway). This last one is my favorite in that I can visualize a way to make it work (Note: assumes all classes from Shadow Dragon return to playable and Dancer is made a Special class like Thief and Commando): Mercenary - Fighter - Pirate (Axe Classes) Knight - Cavalier - Pegasus Knight (Lance Classes) Myrmidon - Hunter - Archer (Speed Classes) Mage - Curate/Cleric - Dark Mage (Obvious Classes) There might be an issue with Male Peg Knights, but that can be handled by putting Soldier into the Lance Classes as an option for unpromoted at least.
  20. It's possible that the 'starting class' of your My Unit is part of the effect on stats/appearance. Similarly I figure the Past-Present-Future thing also effects your growth rates. Then whatever chapter Reclassing is available for you can reclass your character like any other unit. It's possible all the starting class pick does is pick your outfit, and you are stuck with it as you reclass. It is a bit odd how few heavy classes are in the male set. I have two theories about how Reclassing might be handled for this game. -Exactly the same. Sheema will either be a Female Set with special access to General, or Power Set as a Girl. -The overall circles are smaller in some way with some overlap. Instead of having six classes a set, you have 3 or 4. Meaning Sheema being a female General might only allow for a few more options for her, instead of all six in the old Power Set set-up. Honestly the best thing is to wait and see what we get in info July 2nd when FE World updates again.
  21. Yes, but mostly the point was that Shinon > Leo And no amount of fancy Personal Bow can upset that. And the Bow is worthless unless, you know, you can somehow make Leo not useless.
  22. Yes, but 1-2 Range saves it as it gives her the ability to level without counters killing her. And on the Micaiah's Angel's weapons, I found Nolan's DEF boost most valuable. While both Nolan and Leo were vastly outclassed (Boyd and Shinon) no Swordmaster (even my beloved Mia) made Ed a joke, he just would be rediculously under leveled.
  23. Merric has THE HIGHEST DEF GROWTH OF ANY FINESSE CLASS UNIT. If Merric, Gordin, and Minerva can't get exceptional Def in this game, then nobody can. Especially when its a low cap like 20. Since I don't know what classes the other units you listed were in during your match, its hard to determine how Difficult their Def would be, were they Paladins with a cap of 30, or Swordmasters with a cap of 22. It kind of makes a difference. His other caps also make a difference, but so far he seems to be sacrificing offense for Def stat. You keep bringing up his DEF stat but fail to mention how many of his units capped Strength.
  24. I have to use Eli and having Durandal isn't bad... just often useless. Having Lughnasadh is more useless. Since Leo isn't a character that I found all that useful.
