  1. Yes, but our RNG abuser didn't have all capped did he? HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Res HP: 55 - Entirely Reasonable for Merric if he was a Cavalier for 17 Level Ups. Strength: 06 - With a 15% Growth for 18 levels, again, reasonable. Magic: 25 - Note: This is with all 5 Spirit dusts, so its 15, two below Merric's Average, which is a bit high for all the levels he was a Cavalier, but reasonable. Skill: 28 - Capped? What? Oh right Cavalier for most of his Pre-promote. This isn't surprising. Speed: 25 - Merric can cap his speed easily enough, my Merric has 3 different times without abuse. Luck: 19 - Eh... not great, not bad, nothing to really write about. Def: 20 - Given Merric actually has a really GOOD Def Growth this shouldn't be so surprising to anyone. It's only brought down by being a class that has a Negative Def Growth. Low Cap Even accounting for how Reclassing would effect the stat this is not that harsh. Res: 18 - Eh... little high, probably has some Talismans in it. His Merric capped Skill, Speed, and Def. Three stats. He couldn't even get a capped Magic with Merric due to how much time was spent getting that DEF score. That's not 'every stat' or even 'every stat but 2' that's 'three stats' Some units cap 3 Stats in their sleep. When a unit is hacked (99 Use on weapons, 16+ Movement, Caps in most/all stats) There is usually more than one clue. Like 99 Use on weapons or the Forged a Gradivus with insane hit. Stats aren't a good cue unless what you're looking for is actually impossible to get in game.
  2. You haven't thought through the numbers have you? To RNG farm 1 stat isn't that hard. The chances of any given level up giving you that stat are the growth rate itself. Every time you don't gain in that stat you reset and try again. So with the example in the previous thread: Merric/Cavalier/Def (35%) Which isn't all that bad. 35 is a little over a third. So 2/3 of the time you're resetting. To RNG farm TWO stats is trickier. Let's make Catria a Mage. *Glances over at Catria in nifty robes* See, Mage. She has a Strength Growth of 25% (35 - 10) and a Magic Growth of 30 (0 + 30). Now, to farm both stats you need to get both to gain, or reset. If we just call 30 1/3, you're looking at resetting 11/12ths of the time. Now, I'm not sure WHY I'm farming both offense stats. Let's say I plan to make her a Swordmaster with a Levin Sword. By the way, if someone did go to ALL the trouble to farm this with Cap Strength/Magic (which would TAKE TIME, as Sage Catria would only gain Str/Mag together 1/25 of the time). So if the plan is to make her a Levin Swordmaster, she only needs to get to 23 Magic as a Sage. Since only 1 in 12 Level ups are viable before promotion. For her first 15 level ups you have tossed out 180 Level ups (or so) to get her to 17 Strength 19 Magic at LV20 (Mage). To continue this farming, you promote her (20 Strength 20 Magic - Sage) You can't get more Strength right now, so let's get the last 3 Magic points, you still have to toss out 4/5 of your level up chances So now to get her to LV4 you've wasted 192 Level Ups to reset (ON ONE CHARACTER). You make her a Swordmaster and keep this going farming Level Ups for Strength (45, so you throw out about half your Level Ups) for two levels (194)... And you've got NO CHANCE IN HELL of capping her Defense or Resist. Numbers don't lie, to cap every stat on every character would take more playtime than is possible right now.
  3. FE10: Lughnasadh - Locked to Leonardo FTL.
  4. It's very simple: You're not using a cheat device. That's all there is. Anything without a cheat device is within the game's scope. Arena Abuse, RNG Abuse, Resetting for cast... none of these are things your suppose to do in the game. But none of these things are directly stopped either. The game doesn't prevent them, nor does it condone them. It's a piece of technology. Now then, this doesn't mean they aren't abusive as all things, they are. All of it. But honestly, complaining about RNG abuse and Arena abuse is like complaining "You're better at Basketball than me because you spend time working out and staying in practice!" It's a little silly.
  5. Is resetting because a character you needed died abusive: Yes, but nobody cares, we all do it. Is Arena abuse for Gold to forge unbelievably powerful weapons abusive: Of course it is. If you max out the forging on a Brave Weapon you're spending more money on the weapon than there is available Gold in the GAME without Arenas. Is resetting to try again at crappy Level Ups abusive: Sure it is! Nobody expected you to take it so seriously. Are people going to stop doing these things to make Wi-Fi teams: I should hope not! I feel bad when I beat down a team without a proper weapon set or stat set. I mean, beating a team where there's every chance they could destroy your party in a turn is WAY more fun than slaughtering weak and innocent Dragonkin. >.>
  6. That's a slippery slope FEFL. If we count having the time, energy, and patience to farm levels as a cheap tactic. Having the time, energy, and patience to gather the Gold and Brave weapons to forge them with cap Power isn't exactly 'fair'. I mean, if you count spending hours tweaking levels as cheap, I say spending hours Arena hording gold for weapons that I really doubt IS ever thought anyone WOULD cap in the Forge forged is pretty dang cheap.
  7. What are you talking about, a murderer with no previous record is only likely to get 10 years. To say 'they get life for NEARLY killing someone' is a bit of a leap when you can get 10 years FOR killing someone. But I should stop commenting on this hilariously overblown metaphor of choice. Edit: I suppose neither of you reset when a unit you needed died? And no, Wavedashing was an unintended side-effect of the physics engine. It's along the same line to wasting numbers in FE6-8 than it is to an Arena. YOU ARE ABUSING THE GAME'S ENGINE TO YOUR OWN ENDS. The intent of momentum air dodges was to... dodge attacks in the air and extend recovery ranges. It was not to apply an extended forward range by airdodging into the ground before you leave the ground allowing you to charge and execute Smash attacks and other offensive attacks while in motion. And you don't need to hack to put Star-Men at 100% either.
  8. It depends on what stats you value in what class. If you wish to optimize Strength growth in a Sniper you probably want Palla or Est. If you want to make sure your Mage has a defense score at all you want Merric. Feel you need some Defense Growth on a Horseman... Darros is the man for the job. Want a Hero that feels lucky, its up to Roger. It's basically a 'who can do anything, who can do magic, and who to avoid' than a question of what character in what class.
  9. Beating a person to death could be classified as manslaughter, it isn't as intentful as murder... But we're comparing a video game to murder... I think we've swayed from the point a little. RNG tweaking using resetting, clock manips, and whatever else in game without a cheat device can't really be compared to a cheat device. So long as he's using the game and the game code itself without augmenting the game itself to get a result desirable it isn't cheating. I have no problem with wavedashing in Melee. I DO draw issue with people that augment Brawl's code so they can wavedash. (slightly more on point example.)
  10. Depends on the number of Dazzles you run into, like Caeda she can hit a 50% Critrate without a weapon adjustment based on her growths (unlike Caeda she'll have no issue with her Strength). Which most units can't. The closest you get is the 40% Growth on the early Cavaliers and Catria. Every other Luckrate 50 or higher (barring the other Classset and non-Reclassables) belongs to a Cleric (read: No Strength Growth to speak of). I'm not saying she's a great unit. She's a good unit screwed by jointime. Now then, if she still had her 70 Growth across the board...
  11. Given that I like Est (wow, you never would of guessed that) she lacks her original allure in FE1 (which was a flat 70 Growthrate in every stat), her Growths are basically the same as her sisters except she has a 50% in Luck. Outside of that yeah, she's not all that useful in a timed playthrough. On Wi-Fi she's another viable unit choice, the added luck is useful (it has effect on a few combat things that you won't mind effecting). But in game unless you like to Arena for fun and profit... what everyone else said covered it.
  12. Caeda should really just be made into a Sniper each time... it plays her strengths (high Skill/Speed/Luck, decent Base Str stat, give her a Crit Forged weapon and pray). Caeda will have no issue setting up a base 50 Crit rate. Highest anti-crit units are other Caedas, Linde, Est, and Roger. Most don't see Wi-Fi for other units having better all around stats.
  13. Ah, I see where my number fault came from, I took Sylvan's less than 15 Res to mean 15 Res. But in reality it could be 11 Res. 25 + 8 - 22 = 11 Res. Which is possible. I thought 25 was your Non-Dusted Magic. Again, I have no issue with adjusting your growth rates via resetting, that's fine by me. I've done it before (Not FE11, I did it in 10). I just want to make sure the numbers all check out. That's all.
  14. Again, using your numbers and posts, Merric would have required a stat increase in magic for 20 out of 21 levels to get the stats you posted. Off of a 30% Growth rate (okay, there is a 40% Growth rate for the two levels before promotion, but that 10% difference on two levels is really not enough to chance my average state, if you want me to be exact I can be), which should without number manipulation only be 7 of those 21 level ups on average. I have no issues with your manipulating the RNG to get better stats, I do have issue if you're doing something else and trying to craft a pretty story around it. As the numbers you post make very little sense with what else you say.
  15. Your numbers don't make sense... you'd of needed to do that trick on Merric a lot more than just DEF wise... as you would of needed pretty much every Level up give you Magic, or at least 9 more beyond the average... Merric's Average magic is 17ish without Class swapping him away from a Mage for every level up to 18. His Average by your own words is 10. His magic to do that damage to Sylvan's units would need to be 29. Also, if you indeed never leveled him up without a DEF gain... he'd of gotten 20 DEF at LV13, not 18. Even with the class changes following that... you would have needed to selective Level his Magic and Defense after promotion to get a full 20 successfully.
  16. Probably a case similar to G-Gundam's last fight: They needed a character design, so they used one for a game in the works. Since FE9 and FE8 had different teams they might of had designs ready for those games and just picked one to put in the background. (G-Gundam last fight, during the fight sceen with a huge bunch of Gundams you can see the five Gundams from Gundam Wing in the background. Gundam Wing was the next series to be released in the line AFTER G-Gundam.)
  17. The most obvious are also the most logical (from a 'make sure your player doesn't die' standpoint): Jeigan (your big powerhouse... sorta), Red/Green (extra forces), Est (possible powerhouse), Gatoh (definite powerhouse). Navarre I count, there's an easy path from A to Z here, and an example in every world. The others seem to be like a conspiracy theory... until you can find enough examples of it...
  18. Dark Legend Vampire, still up for a match?
  19. I go for poetics when I can. (The two missing are themed to go with their counterpart: Gaia Plate and Lotus Bloom) I'll be more threatening with my last nine stat items and three weapons. Having now Brave Bow or Axe is a bit of a weakness.
  20. Ehh... sure, my Wi-Fi code is in my snazzy sig image of Est.
  21. Not a problem, the site does have the info to run the calculations. I had to do them all for my latest Wi-Fi run. Depending your your ideal team and how far you are you might wanna start a new run, other funding issues include the Stat items in the Secret Shops (Chapters 21 and 24), a few Keys for one of the Wi-Fi maps, and enough of 1 or 2 Warp Staves for Wi-Fi (either Rena + Hammerne, or Combining the 3-4 Warp Stave chunks left over). My last run cost me around 460,000 Not including a few early Game Items (Hand Axe and Brave Sword were done by this point).
  22. To prep a Wi-Fi team here's the cost per Brave weapon (Max Might, 100 Hit, no Crit or Weight adjust): Brave Sword/Bow - (2,400 Per sword/bow, 79,200 per Forge, 81,600 total) Brave Lance - (2,700 Per Lance, 95,850 per Forge, 98,550 total) Brave Axe - (2,100 per axe, 69,300 per Forge, 71,400 total) If you know the numbers before getting to an Arena chapter you can prep there with a goal in mind. However depending on you team, you should plan on making a few Hand Axes (cheap as heck, but good to have), Longbows (not as bad as a Brave, but still a fair bit o gold), Javelins (if you have more than 1 Lancer, cheap but effective), and Thoron (if you have a Sage or Sorcerer, only needs Might). Levin if you do a Magic Swordsman, but that relies on raising one of your Mages then Swapping them into Swordmaster when they will have 20 Magic as a Swordsman (it's valuable as you have a Magic user with 30 Speed).
  23. Horseman still have a pretty high Skill cap, and Swords needed the extra might way more than the extra Hit. Actually, none of the Sword classes have a lack of Skill cap to worry on, just maybe issues of not getting near their cap due to poor unit choice. Since Hero has that beautiful (but 26 Speed makes it worthless) 30, Horsemen and Paladin stand tall with 28, and even Falco has its respectable 25. Also, I thought the Hitrate buff vanished in a Triangle advantage (so the 15 Buff for Axes is meaningless against a Sword user)? Supports do show up from time to time, but they won't mess with the number crunching I've done unless they have supports AND a rediculous Luck growth, which most don't see in concert. Only 15 units have an average over 18. I suppose someone that RNGs a lot might get higher but... Picking a team just to work out the best Evade rates seems like a lot of work...
